I know this guy personally and I will attest that he is nearly magical in his skill. He can speed sculpt the most amazing characters then produce the most amazing life-like creatures. Truly a gifted artist.
In all seriousness though, and not my somewhat sarcastic take..Greystorm, I realize now that you must not be aware that for one, the person who commented is not only talking about taking advantage of a free trial, but that of an online "school" where artists are paid already when they do workshops, etc. There is no taking the smokes out of needy artists mouths, no guilt needed to go for that free trial and another two if need be 😉
This guy is absolutely incredible. He is super humble and down to earth. Met him a couple times and he’s always a class act. He’s one of the best sculptors alive today. Protect him at all costs!
Loved watching him on Making Monsters. Wish they would give him his own show.... but ONLY if every episode he's got 6-8 hours to sculpt before he has to be on a plane. That happened dang near every time and he made the most incredible/amazing/unbelievable (pick your favorite) stuff.
Loved the show as well, it was ahead of its time. I think nowadays it would be very succesfull on Netflix. A show with Jordu alone would be nice, but the dynamic between Ed and Jordu was just golden
I'm a CG character artist and it's amazing to see how similar CG art and physical mediums can be in a lot of ways (sculpting, layering textures and colours, et cetera).
this dude is very cool, his masks are very well carved and you can see that he puts a lot of effort into each of his works, thank you for this material in the video, I really liked it
If anybody wants to see more like this, there's an old FX show called Face Off. It's a VFX competition show, and Jordu even showed up as a guest judge!
8:58 couldn't have said it better. That's what I feel when writing. Giving life to a fictional world, and bringing the reader there as if it were real. Love it!
I had the good fortune to meet Jordu years ago along with many other famous FX artists and engineers. It IS good for the soul to engage with people like this. The most talented among them WANT to teach others.
This man is absolutely pure magically and creative genius in the special effects industry!!! Some many movies monsters creatures everyone can identify with!!! Really artistic designer of creative creatures!!!!
Jordu is a legend. When I first started out in digital sculpting nearly 20 years ago, his characters were a huge inspiration. I still laugh at the fact that I get paid to create creatures and characters, as it's something I'd otherwise be doing for free, as a deep passion, regardless.
when jordu said that " he has no idea where his sculpting goes on the process, same thing with me when i draw something i have no idea where my drawing goes..i just realized i end up something that is wonderful
I could watch this man day and night. He needs to write a book. Wonder if he studied this in school...its obvious he is gifted. Maybe he never needed school. Some of his skin textures on beyond realistic, they are alive.
Remember first hearing about him when I watched the MAKING MONSTERS show I think it was in sci-fi but I could be wrong either way I loved that show and loved him too.
I’ve always had a love for monsters and mask making since I was little. Grew up watching child’s play and a nightmare on elm street and grew up with my dad always dressing up with really cool monster masks. I didn’t make my first professional latex mask til I was 32 and I’m 36 now and plan on making more. Times just been really rough for me lately and would love to show the world my art.
How cathartic that he to searched for information to exact a quality mask. Today it no mystery but it’s still great art great talent and fun. The artistic fan thanks you.
Now that surface modeling in the cad world has become affordable and accessible to many along with affordable large platform DLP 3d printers the clay sculpting isn’t necessary unless you enjoy hand sculpting. Which is in fact enjoyable I find
What's always amazed me is how human beings can't create a more beautiful being than the human being. Any variation at all to our noses, eyes, legs, etc., and we call it a monster.
your comment explains why a lot of times people shun other people with disabilities/malformations too unfortunately.... people view them (subconsciously) as monsters/freaks etc
I don't think it's that we cant... it's that humans are always going to be most attracted to a beautiful human more than any other form because we're wired that way for reproduction and mating. Anything different might be considered beautiful but won't ever be considered more beautiful. It also depends on your idea of beauty people find beauty in animals and might find a majestic horse more beautiful than a human, but not in a sexually attractive way (I'd hope)
9:18 I think that’s the biggest difference between the west’s concept of horror vs the east, right there. Western horrors you gotta understand and deal with the monster, the east you have to just survive it as the rules keep changing. I love both, but I think if there’s a way to combine both that’d be cool. Like if there was an uncanny creature that was beyond space and time, you never know what it’ll do next but your goal isn’t of sticking around to understand it, it’s to get everyone you care about safe and out of reach of the being… for a little at least.
I was watching this video and then my neighbour came and we watched it together. He said that this video changed his life and touched his heart. 💯 A master!
I love the bride of re animator movie honestly 🤣
If you went in sandals you liked him, he gets excited with people's feet🤮
I loved watching Jordu on making monsters when it was on
No you don’t. If you did, you’d introduce me and we all become murder mask men.
Not only is he a pleasant person, but such an incredibly gifted artist!
I want this video to be five times longer so I can see a whole sculpting demo and all the masks in more detail!!
He does videos at stan winstons website. You can sign up for a week with a random email and then cancel And do it all over Again with a new email.
@@chrisbaker3877 thanks for the info! But as an artist myself, I think it's only fair to pay artists for their expertise and time
In all seriousness though, and not my somewhat sarcastic take..Greystorm, I realize now that you must not be aware that for one, the person who commented is not only talking about taking advantage of a free trial, but that of an online "school" where artists are paid already when they do workshops, etc.

You should watch face off, it's a reality show that's just people doing this. It's great!
I have taken his class and you saw nearly the entire process here. His skill and the speed at which he works is incredible.
This guy is absolutely incredible. He is super humble and down to earth. Met him a couple times and he’s always a class act. He’s one of the best sculptors alive today. Protect him at all costs!

Ditto. He really shows his funny side in those episodes
Loved the show as well, it was ahead of its time. I think nowadays it would be very succesfull on Netflix. A show with Jordu alone would be nice, but the dynamic between Ed and Jordu was just golden
This would be such a cool job wow. He’s incredible 👏🏽❤
I agree 👍
Jordu is crazy talented, loved him on making monsters!
Jordu Schell is hilarious, loved him on Making Monsters!
not just funny but actually a very nice person.
He's so funny
I absolutely love insanely creative people like him and Rick Baker. There is nothing wrong with CGI. But I love people who create with their hands.
I'm a CG character artist and it's amazing to see how similar CG art and physical mediums can be in a lot of ways (sculpting, layering textures and colours, et cetera).
I remember seeing him guest judge on Face Off!! He was so cool on the show, and has an amazing career history.
Me too..I loved that show!
The most interesting and talented person I never knew about and know will never forget! How he can just create like it’s nothing was truly remarkable
this dude is very cool, his masks are very well carved and you can see that he puts a lot of effort into each of his works, thank you for this material in the video, I really liked it

God I miss that show!
Is Face Off that old?
I love every season
He is such an amazing artist. He just blows my mind!
Jordu is one of my all time favorite sculptors!! I’ve looked up to him for years!!
I could listen to him talk about his craft all day! Please have him back on
What an amazing insight. And so much deeper of a look than he himself got when he was digging in as a kid. We are so lucky.
Awesome video featuring Jordu!
8:58 couldn't have said it better. That's what I feel when writing. Giving life to a fictional world, and bringing the reader there as if it were real. Love it!
THE MAN BEHIND OUR CHILHOOD HORROR MOVIE MASKS
An incredible job
I love to do food videos while smoking weed on my UA-cam channel, to cure people’s boredom :)
Chill
I desperately need to surround myself with people who are not only magically creative but passionate
I had the good fortune to meet Jordu years ago along with many other famous FX artists and engineers. It IS good for the soul to engage with people like this. The most talented among them WANT to teach others.
Wow crazy and amazing, this is truely an artist
That fact that he PERFECTLY drew an aquatic ancient hunter on the spot
This guy has a soothing energy. I could easily spend an afternoon in his workshop and watch him create masks
Fellow 70s kid (loved HR Puffinstuff). Totally impressed that you figured out most the stuff on your own (before the Internet!). Love your creations!
This man is absolutely pure magically and creative genius in the special effects industry!!! Some many movies monsters creatures everyone can identify with!!! Really artistic designer of creative creatures!!!!
WOW! I knew Jordu as Jordy when he was a very young child/toddler. He is so talented and so amazing 😮WOW (again)
GO, JORDU!
What’s his name?
Me in my head: “aquatonius” or something ancient and weird.
Artist: “Dave. He looks like a Dave.”
😂😂😂
Jordu is a legend. When I first started out in digital sculpting nearly 20 years ago, his characters were a huge inspiration. I still laugh at the fact that I get paid to create creatures and characters, as it's something I'd otherwise be doing for free, as a deep passion, regardless.
amazing video, would love to see more niche creators featured.
Pure genius. I love what he creates.
Jordu Schell is a living legend!
Thank you for this! Jordu is so TALENTED, and an extraordinarily cool/kind person!!
Jordu is the GOAT!! 🔥🔥🔥
When people ask what art is, bruh this is the definition of ART
I dare say, one of the most impressive artists of all times
when jordu said that " he has no idea where his sculpting goes on the process, same thing with me when i draw something i have no idea where my drawing goes..i just realized i end up something that is wonderful
I need an hour long video of this
Jordu is the Muhammed Ali of creating and sculpting creatures, not only is he a genius at what he does but he's also hilarious and witty!
What an amazing talent, decades in the making.
You don't get it much in this video but Jordu is hilarious. Like top ten funniest people I've seen on television.
Got to meet him a couple of weeks ago, he is extremely talented and a great guy!
This was incredible! I love sculpting and I've been curious about special effects masks for a while thanks to Face Off. Thanks for sharing!!
Clearly one of the nicest people on the planet, who ironically creates monsters to give us nightmares.
Jordu is insanely talented and super funny!
I really like the anatomical proportions of his predator bust, it looks more slender and more athletic than the movie version.
I wish I had an ounce of artistic talent because this would be an awesome job!
Jordu is AMAZING!
I could watch this man day and night. He needs to write a book. Wonder if he studied this in school...its obvious he is gifted. Maybe he never needed school. Some of his skin textures on beyond realistic, they are alive.
Good on him for being so happy
Dude ,i loved bride of RE-ANIMATOR,respect bro

You should have the guy who made the black phone mask and bray Wyatt’s fiend and uncle howdy mask!
He is a total goofball, I've been to his workshop and brought donuts lol. He is. Brilliant at sculpting.
Hey, monster masks have a long history in cultures all over the world!
One of my all time fav artists!
I could watch this for hours. Great video.
This was so enjoyable to watch, so much talent and passion I love it
The studio behind Disney+ Were wolf by Night need to give this man a call right now…

Woah, I wish I could make one someday
How cathartic that he to searched for information to exact a quality mask. Today it no mystery but it’s still great art great talent and fun. The artistic fan thanks you.
Saludos desde el país de la eterna primavera Guatemala...
En español latino.. excelente trabajo... Arte creativo... Hecho
I like when people have passion and talent, but are still "normal". Seems like a cool guy.
"Normal"?
I know what your trying to say but this sounds wrong
“Normal” sounds pretty boring
Stand up guy. His passion for his art is very palpable
Now that surface modeling in the cad world has become affordable and accessible to many along with affordable large platform DLP 3d printers the clay sculpting isn’t necessary unless you enjoy hand sculpting. Which is in fact enjoyable I find
Digital sculpting has been available to everyone for 25 years. It's only 'trendy' now because it's available on ipad.
This is impressive and your right it's really addictive
I love this guy.
Absolutely stone cold fascinating.
Wonderful video... and the impact on the world is enormous.
Jordu is AWESOME!!

Interviewer: Do you think you could draw something for us on the fly?
Jordu: I probably could ya.
*end video*

@@borednow so true.
These masks are absolutely monster!
what a talented guy
Long live Jordu Schell!
Fangoria! Man, those were the days. 😃
I know this master artist and believe me, he is super humanly talented.

I was watching this video and then my neighbour came and we watched it together. He said that this video changed his life and touched his heart. I then went and rented a projector in a big field and all my villagers watched it and it changed their lives too. We all are so grateful.
Thank You for this video Wired
