    The fact that you always give a REALLY easy and accessible example of your recipes makes them so much more loveable for me. I don’t have a pan which creates those grill stripes but after seeing you literally using a regular pan I’m more than confident that I can do this on my own. Thank you for also including the „easy“ options beside the „fancy, cool“ ones, too!!

    When freezing tofu, the type you use is really important (in fact, crucial) to the process. It needs to be regular tofu in the water, not firm tofu. Mary’s Test Kitchen explains it all in her fried chicken/tofu video.

    Thanks for the nice video 😊 It's kind of a combination of things I've been doing with tofu lately, and things I want to learn to do better! I like your marinade, great idea to score the tofu first. I have a pathetic tofu press (it was cheap) so I started crumbling the thawed-out superfirm tofu in my hands until it loses a lot of liquid and breaks into rough chunks, which I then stir-fry with smoked paprika, salt and crushed garlic. It doesn't take long for the tofu to go nice and crispy, but still soft enough to absorb liquids. I've had it just like that, with a side of vegetables, but usually once it's at this stage I add it to borscht - quite early on, so it soaks up a lot of flavour. It is honestly delicious. Like borscht in general, it gets better over the next couple of days. I highly recommend 😊

    Excellent vid! Straight out the package tofu is fine for your grill prep. Freezing tofu is only important for frying tofu. The freeze prep drives out more water, correct, and will cause fried tofu to have more crunchy and crispy edges.

    So the way to go in my opinion is to press the tofu overnight, slice into thirds then submerge the block in vegan chicken broth and freeze overnight, thaw and then marinade/season and cook.
    Freezing it in the broth after pressing allows the broth to penetrate into the tofu giving it more flavor throughout instead of just on the outside.
    These still look great!

    • @TheeBurgerDude
      @TheeBurgerDude  7 місяців тому +2

      Thanks! That's exactly what I was going to do (well slice and unslice, but freezing in vegan chick'n broth) but I realized that was a whole other video. @@TheeBurgerDude awesome! Another method I've found that works incredibly is pressing overnight, cutting into 5 strips, airfry at 400 for 15 min, cutting into nuggets, freezing in chicken broth, thaw, then airfry at 400 for like a minute or so. Juicy and they have a "skin" on them that's nice and crispy

    To get the tofu to soak up the marinade, you need to press it to expel the air in the little pockets, then the marinade will be pulled in when it expands back after you release it. Think of it like squeezing a sponge under water to get it to soak up more than just dunking it in the water would do.

    I agree. I actually do not like the freeze thaw method. It tastes porous. Otherwise, this looks like a yummy way to make “chicken.”

    I just went and purchased some tofu just so that I can try one of your tofu chicken recipes. Thank you for posting such amazing content I greatly appreciate it. GOD has truly blessed you with an amazing gift of taking foods that we once liked when we were meat eaters and turn it into amazing vegan dishes. Thank YOU JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾‼️‼️‼️‼️…. For those of you watching this video my prayer is that you ALL come to know JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH as your LORD AND SAVIOR. ROMANS 10:9 say that if we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that GOD raised JESUS from the dead we will be saved.

    I think the thing about tofu that you have to remember if you're going to convert...
    Beef is beef...
    Chicken is chicken...
    Tofu is tofu...
    They each have their own unique texture and flavor. Sure, you can make them similar to each other, but you just learn to appreciate each for their own characteristics. I've just stopped trying to make one a mirror of another. Make them "close"... sure that's cool. But it's never going to be "perfect"... and that's okay with me.
