  • Today will be the first test of H1000 in the 6.5 PRC. Others have had decent results with this powder, will we? So far the Hornady H1000 seemed to meter nicely, so perhaps we'll have more consistency.

    For my 6.5 PRC have been using H1000 for Nosler Accubond and Partition 140 grain bullets. Consistent accurate submoa groups at 100 yards. Up to 2950-2970 fps for velocities. I think you will like it. Going to be testing H1000 with the Nosler 142 grain Accubond LR next. Can't wait.

      I have had some decent groups with the first batch of VV N565 I tried...haven't seen any N560. H1000 and H4831 have done well for my too. I haven't tried anything other than the 147 ELDM and some Barnes 130 gr TSX for hunting.

      The velocity did go flat for a couple three loads, hoping we can get to 2850 in the next try with H1000.

      .5 gr under max...according to which load data? Hodgdon says max is 56.5 while Sierra claims 57.4 is max...I want to find a 3rd data source to see what the spread is, lol.

    I think we all would like for your set up to start tightening up. If your action isn't bedded that would be a good video and im sure your groups would tighten up. Ditch the table and go prone and get that target lower on the ground out of the wind just that very little movment adds up in the negetive. I understand you enjoy making these vids but if you want people to keep paying attention your gunna have to give us some content worth our time that we accually learn from. Learn the satterlli method get a garmin chrony or labradar. Just being honest. Good luck

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  7 місяців тому

      The action is bolted to an aluminum chassis, not much in the way of bedding needed...two hard points of contact at the action...noting else touches. The target is limited to where it is by the ballistic wall...if I moved the absorbing blocks there is still a sheet of AR500 running across the range behind the blocks so not much can be done there. I have tried a Labradar on this range...that doesn't work here either due to the overhead baffles...we were getting constant false readings...getting velocities off the baffles even when no shooting was happening, I suspect we might get the same results with the Garmin. Those baffles and radar don't get along at all. Hopefully I can get out to a range soon that I can reach farther than 100 yards and get some distance between me and the target. I appreciate the feedback.

      Look up reeseontherange he has a chassis bedding video. iv done 2 chassis rifles and other stocks as well , it works. If your not grouping at 100 it would be pointless to go further.Another thing i do is i allways warm up my barrel at least 3 shots sperate point of aim then start my data collecting ill go up to 20 shots fairly quik to stay at a consistant temp in the barrel like a match setting string of fire. if this setup was for hunting then i need to consider cold bore shot poi as priority but cold bore should always be considered regerdless and and noted as a data point note. Good luck hope to see that thing shoot some bug holes and a grin from ear to ear On Gus Macrea @@Halfmilesniper
