Chronographs don’t have bad days. The obvious variation between the fast and low speed of each test. Ackerman’s razor would most likely attribute that to a variation at load time.
LOL, as far as bad days for chronographs, well they sure did the two times I shot one on video (accidental chrono kill). I suspect the difference in velocity of a given charge could be the difference in individual powder grains, some being bigger/longer than others causing minute differences in surface area coupled with variations in neck tension. It's all pretty much one of the Dark Magics, lol. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.

Just bought this powder to load .270 Win. Never get tired of seeing that rig. Good one Halfmile ! 🇺🇸👍
@@pg981 thanks PG. With so many using this powder in .270 I guess I'm going to have to try it there too, lol.
We have also had good luck with the H1000 with the 6.5 PRC
H1000 gave me very consistent groups when I tested it. Five groups from test loads increasing the charge by .5 grain and they averaged something like a .6 inch average group.
52.5 looks like it was between nodes. From what I've seen H4831sc, N555 and I think RL16 is what that cartridge likes. Good shooting!
Thanks for that info...I can never find RL26 (which I've heard works good in this cartridge) but I did get some N565 which should be pretty similiar to N555. We'll see how that shakes out. Thanks for watching.
@@Halfmilesniper RL 16 is hard to find and usually expensive. I've been keeping my eyes open for some to try in my 6x47L

👍👍Those look really good. By the way even though we have constitutional carry here in Alabama I just purchased a lifetime carry permit. They still check me out every 5 years but I’m good to go till I can’t go anymore.
That's awesome on the lifetime permit...you're covered pretty much everywhere except the bluest of blue states.
Yep, this batch of ammo tested out pretty nice except for that second load. It is looking like we are closer to finding our load.
H4831sc is a great powder. I have ran it from243 win to 338 Labuan and always found a great round.
I ran it in 7 Rem Mag, that is why I had it on hand. I still have no idea how I tested the starting load and then never came back to this powder. But I will be testing it further in the 6.5 PRC
I sure like that rig Halfmile...I'm thinking of finding maybe a savage 308 & pairing the oryx stock w/ er!!!
Thanks Chris. That Oryx chassis is a solid piece of gear...couple that with the weight of the rifle and it really mitigates the felt recoil for sure.
I've been advocating for you to try 4831SC. It fills in for the burn rate of the 6.5 PRC. I use it in my 7mm Rem Mag with 184gr Freedom Seeds.
I haven't found any H4831SC yet...but I am really glad I realized I hadn't tested the H4831 since the starting load. It is looking like we have just about zeroed in on what this rifle likes!
Won't get you the fastest velocities... but should be really good for accuracy
Let's just say that I have been overly conservative in the load development (because of so many very new to loading viewers) that it has taken a long time to start seeing the speeds I was looking for. Coming back to this powder I can say I was surprised.
Looks like magic fairy dust does help. Pretty nice groups & really small deviations in velocity. Time for a 5 water jug test? Or maybe 6! Like that new chrony!! 🌟👍🙏
This powder and the Hornady brass seem to be a winning combo so far. I will also have to test it in some of the new Lapua brass to make sure it works as well (once I dial it in a little tighter). I was actually thinking about trying a water jug test soon too...but worried the bullet will blow through all even from 100 yards. We'll see.
That Garmin chrono is the cat's whiskers, lol, ain't it? I will have to show it next to my GoPro when I do a follow up review on it.

i found that power in my 7mm prc was the one I going to use & h1000 for heavy bullets & reloader 17 too i have one rifle it the only powder I could use the 6.5 & 7mm the rifle with reloader 17 is a 270 bullet type! I been trying to figure out what I want to do!
I like having one powder for multiple calibers, guns etc. That is why I love the Vihtavuori N320 pistol powder...I use it in my 9mm, .38 wadcutter and .38 158 gr ball ammo for competition. I can see that same benefit with rifle powders too.
Ockham’s Razor
Nice , getting it ! I took a nap in late afternoon , awoke at 3am...went back to sleep , lol
Naps will do that, lol.
Those Garmin's are pricey, but it sure looks like a good investment.
If not for Cabela's points and a gift card I wouldn't have made the jump...but, man I will definitely save money on chronographs as long as this thing keeps working. I can't see me ever shooting another chrono, lol. Shoot, the time savings in set up can actually be factored in when you consider time equaling money.
@@Halfmilesniper I've really been looking at those lately. I really want one, but man that's a kick to the wallet.

Were you using the H4350 prior to the H4831? I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for sharing.
I have not tried H4350 in this cartridge, I have tried H1000, US869, Vihtavuori N170, Staball HD, H4831 and IMR4831. Soon I will be trying some N565 and I am constantly looking for RL26 and Retumbo. So far my best results have been with H4831, H1000 and Staball HD.
Thanks for watching.
I just started following. Is the brass supposed to be cold after shooting, I always thought they were supposed to be hot? My Creedmoor is always stone cold.
Every rifle I have ever fire ejected hot brass, some hot enough to leave a blister. This 6.5 PRC is the first time I have ever experienced cold brass right out of the chamber. Seems like a common comment among the 6.5 PRC crowd, interesting that it is happening with your 6.5 CM.
Thanks for the sub, and thanks for watching...I really appreciate it.
@@Halfmilesniper yeah, could just be the 6.5 family. All mine are factory but want to get into reloading soon. No problem for the sub, tools and targets mentioned you a lot so gave you a follow as well. Thanks.

I agree. When I do a retest on 54.0 I will likely start at 53.5 and work up to and past 54.0 in .2 or .3 increments to see if there is any more magic between them, lol.

Tried h4831sc with 55.5 and 156g berger eol. Flattened primers and ejector marks on 2 shots I took.... back to the drawing board.
That load, using Gordon's Reloading Tool, and 153gr A Tips shows to be over 3,000 PSI over max pressure. I imagine it would be somewhat higher with the 156 Berger (but they weren't in the database). Using the 153 gr A Tip in the calculator I show reaching max pressure at 54.6 grain, so it would be a little lower for the Berger.
