Reuploaded YET AGAIN. This latest time was preemptive - turns out the reupload from earlier in the day was edited from a version that didn't have the FIRST edits I did after getting claimed, so now if anything gets claimed, it has to be something I hadn't dealt with before.
I was very confused when I clicked on the alert from hours ago and it led me to a 2 minute old video lol. This explains it.
1:22 Yeah, at this point since you had to reupload this video 3 times now, it's probably best if you stick to reviewing Doctor Who comics. I can imagine that will give you less problems with ContentID
I hope you do more of this , Great vid.
@@curly_daddy4369 At this point, I'm wondering how much time is left before anyone is able to review ANYTHING without running into ContentID problems.
Man, UA-cam is full of WINDBAGS if they're constantly claiming this video.
Linkara cares about this video more than Nyssa did for Traken.
That's why I love Big Finish. Traken hit her hard.
Man this review going through an entire Regeneration Cycle
Which one are we up to now? Jo Martin?
It would be appropriate if the 4th upload is the one that sticks.
@@austinleach1307 Too bad this is 6...
Tell me about it.
Like a Hybrid!
I love it when Linkara does episodes on things he's passionate about, don't get me wrong seeing him tear a trash comic aparat is fun, but materials like this are even more fun.
Especially when you're a fan yourself.
So Batman was always secretly weakening reality for Barbatos without realizing it. His hate of Rock & Roll always undermining the only force that could save the universe.
Hence everything in DARK KNIGHTS: METAL and DEATH METAL resembling rock album cover art, and/or something airbrushed on the side of a van or the hood of a muscle car.
Technically speaking, the Watcher being a future Doctor has at least some basis in prior TV canon: In "Planet of the Spiders", Pertwee's regen story, there is the character of K'anpo Rimpoche, an elderly Time Lord who abandoned life on Gallifrey to be a Buddhist monk on Earth. He had an assistant, Cho-Je, to help him and be a public face on his behalf. At the end of the story, it's revealed that Cho-Je is a mental projection of K'anpo Rimpoche's future regeneration, and Rimpoche regenerates into him.
However, tbf, "Logopolis" doesn't connect itself to "Planet of the Spiders" or really explain the Watcher to protect the twist, and like Linkara said, the Watcher's appearance and actions don't entirely make sense knowing who he is supposed to be. Plus, the Doctor is obviously not intentionally mentally projecting anything, and there's not really anything to suggest the Doctor knows how to do what Rimpoche did.
Someone really has it in for this video, probably The Time Lords.
30:05 Oh, Linkara, you missed an opportunity to say, "Who Monitors the Monitors?" and "Should we do something?"
I was thinking that with the destruction of the Universe and the Monitor who wants to save it... it does remind me of something.
Sure, I'll watch this a fourth time, it was worth it the first three times.
Sarah Sutton was in active contract negotiations for like half of Season 19 and Nyssa was never originally planned to be a long-term companion anyway, which probably explains a lot about why the destruction of Traken feels like a real big "oh no! Anyway..." moment. Although, Adric's brother dies in his first appearance and Tegan's aunt dies in hers and those also have equally small attention drawn to them.
The Video is now the 4th Doctor
At the rate these reuploads are going, the next upload will have the next regeneration of Linkara.
Introducing John Hurt as the War Linkara.
Sir, you are awesome.😂
EH
Great review! I actually disagree about The Timeless Child and found ways to enjoy it. And enjoyed the music. But it's refreshing to have someone set out why they don't like TTC in a reasonable manner without jumping up and down in rage while yelling that it ruined the whole show.
I like the Decayed Master for his short run. It shows what the Master is underneath all the theatrics and affable nature when he becomes desperate to survive. A cold blooded monster that will do anything or kill anyone to live on. Not a favorite but I appericated what they tried to do with that version.
If you like him, you’re in luck, as most of the Master’s appearance in Big Finish audios is in that form. Might I say that Geoffrey Beevers really gets to stretch his wings there, really shows his sinister side.
@@crimsondynamo615 ironically it was as Ainley was a bit difficult with Big Finish that they got Geoffrey Beevers, but he has done some great stories!
I'm just surprised to see The Master terrorize a planet that's not Earth or Gallifrey.
@@louisduarte8763 He probably does that when we don't see them, it's just that the Doctor isn't there. Missy alludes to it a bit.
@crimsondynamo615 'The Two Masters' is one of the Best Big Finish Dramas in my book.
Thanks to this episode i am now interested in the Good Doctor and currently hunting down box sets for Christmas, Thanks Linkara
My comment from the first upload: So this is a story about a universe-ending crisis which involves traveling through time and space, a helpful Monitor, a temporary truce with the villain and the threat of entropy, or anti-matter if you will. Did Marv Wolfman take inspiration from this for Crisis on Infinite Earths?
I through it was a referris to the mind over matter idea
Now the Linkara Doctor Who review has regenerated into the Tom Baker phase.
Even though Logopolis isn't my favorite Doctor Who story, it's nice to see Classic Doctor Who represented on this channel. I'm mostly indifferent towards the whole Timeless Child thing (I don't love it, I don't hate it), but it's still nice to hear someone say they didn't like it while not yelling stuff like "It ruins the continuity of the show!" or "The Chibnall era sucks!" You basically say "I'm not fond of it, but it doesn't ruin the show for me." In the age of online criticism, where everyone is always angry about everything, you are one of the few reviewers who manage to keep a positive attitude, while also expressing what you like and what you don't like about a certain piece of media, whether it be a comic, a show, etc. Great video!
Pretty much. I've kind of found ways to like it but it's nice to see someone say why they didn't like it rather than go really over-the-top about it.
And so the Master shows the ultimate power in the universe..a UA-cam Copyright Claim!
I REALLY like this episode and would like to see more of it's kind in the future, but I wouldn't blame Linkara if he never does one again.
Girintina: If you want to see a fan review series about Doctor Who that is on par with Linkara's History Of Power Rangers videos, then look up the UA-cam channel Clever Dick Films. The guy in charge of the channel, Richard Carrier, is a huge Doctor Who Fan that has been doing an in depth series of videos reviewing each Doctor Who Actor's Era for the past few years starting from William Hartnell and is currently up to David Tennent.
Given how assinine the BBC are over thier properties, it's gonna be an ass and a half for him to keep these types of videos up. Harry's Moving Castle is a fantastic case study of changing copyright policies; used to use full running video for the entire video. Around the time of the suicide forest controversy though, he had to switch to still images and very selectively picked moving footage to illustrate a point. The BBC's copyright policy comparatively makes Disney blush.
@@lorddrayvon1426 mmmm yeah, they're very strict
So the unholy trinity of copyright happens to be BBC, Disney and Nintendo. They are ruthless
The Timeless Child just kicks the can down the road for the origin of the Doctor. We still don't know where that being came from.
Yeah, I didn't like it. I preferred it being that what made The Doctor fundamentally different from other Time Lords is his CHOICE to go out, see the universe, intervene in events, and help people. He bended the truth about being exiled off Gallifrey, and the "because I was bored" reason feels truer.
24:38 It's *time travel.* The Master knew to hang out at that police box at that time, because at some point in the future the Master found out that that's where the Doctor was going to be and traveled back there.
The thing about measuring the TARDIS might also be a meta joke about the fact that fans have been keeping track of the varying dimensions of the various TARDIS props and how they differ from real police boxes for a long time. (Also reference in the new series when the guy Rose meets who has been tracking the Doctor through history comments that 'it isn't a real police box, though, because the windows are too small' or words to that effect).
I don't care how many times you reupload this, I will still be here to watch it. I can share your frustration in regards to Content ID. It's a right fucking pain in the ass. Let me at least leave my comment here.
My first Doctor was the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston though I wasn't a Dr. Who fan until David Tennant came around.
My first Doctor Who episode was The End of the World, a 9th Doctor episode where the Doctor and his partner Rose travel five billion years into the future to bear witness to the sun exploding, while stopping Lady Cassandra, the last human. Yes, it's weird, I know.
Favorite master for me was the 10th. I felt he was a tragic character.
me too, only i'm not a doctor who fan XD
... *or,* Entropy as we puny humans understand it is completely wrong.
DOCTOR: What? Do you understand Einstein?
PARSONS: Yes.
DOCTOR: What? And quantum theory?
PARSONS: Yes.
DOCTOR: What? And Planck?
PARSONS: Yes.
DOCTOR: What? And Newton?
PARSONS: Yes.
DOCTOR: What? And Schoenberg?
PARSONS: Of course.
DOCTOR: You've got a lot to unlearn.

The background of The Doctor is something that I never wanted to be revealed, just like the origin of The Joker. Speculation about how someone became either larger than life person is much more interesting than knowing how it happened. An origin just diminishes the character for me.
And AGAIN I have to say ZeroRyoko did a Great job on the music arrangement & animation, plus Fabio Fontes did a good job with the logo.
Reuploaded? No no, regenerated.
Part of the reason why I would love to see Linkara take a look at "Spare Parts." Like this episode, it's a pretty ludicrous series of events out of context (a supercomputer made out of populist revolutionaries is defeated by the Doctor getting it drunk and nommed to death by cybermats so the machine people it created can save their planet by strapping a giant rocket engine to the surface). But the atmosphere and conviction makes it a supremely creepy story.
If you can do more Doctor Who, you don't necessarily need to use clips if it isn't worth it, but I want to hear you talk about it more, any season.
NinjaBluefyre: If you want to see a fan review series about Doctor Who that is on par with Linkara's History Of Power Rangers videos, then look up the UA-cam channel Clever Dick Films. Man i really hope this doesn't make you decided to reconsidered any Doctor Who video ideas cause man they are really special and good.
Statistically speaking, it's still the safest show to review.
Always loved your content. it still amazingly thaty ou been doing this for over a decade.
Keep up what you love.
That intro is LEGENDARY... kudos to your composer/arranger for this variant, very on point and sounds awesome!
I have heard "block transfer computation"... SUCH MUCH TODAY!!!
I would immediately subscribe to a sub channel of nothing but your Doctor Who reviews, Linkara.
Also I will second others who’ve said that using clips isn’t necessary for these reviews: stills would be more than enough for a review of this kind of series.
Wouldn't be surprised if Captain Kirk is behind this
Good to know everything is OK now, was watching the other one and at some point it stopped and got a little worrying.
Thanks again for all your hard work and hope this doesn't have more issues, I watch this when it premiered and hoped you keep on reviewing Doctor Who stories.
Must this blessing shield you from the wrath of the Holy Ones & Zeros.
I don’t wanna watch this again, I’m going to, but I don’t want to… It’s a good episode I just watched it too many times
Man someone really does not want you to upload this video
My alltime favourite 5th Doctor story is the Cybermen story, Earthshock which brought the Cybermen back after 6 years away from the show.
That’s a very cool scarf😊 I did enjoy learning about classic doctor who given it was on TV before I existed so…🤷♀️
*fast forward to November* holy crap this episode helped me recognise this doctor guy and the Ace lady companion given a RECENT episode I saw a clip of😂 THANK you Linkara 😊
"there's so much earnestness to it and good craftsmanship that makes it compelling and interesting" also describes most of Linkara's storyline segments, too. 😄
Time to rewatch the re-upload again in support~
this review is just keeps regenerating
Wibbely wobbely timey whimey
It occured to me that the postscript of this episode could make an interesting episode in and of itself: the computer that runs the program runs on equipment that essentially no one has used in 30+ years. Imagine the Doctor noticing "entropy" beginning to develop on an unrelated adventure and he remembers, "Oh crap, I hooked up a program the universe depends on to a human-made computer from the 1980s," and quickly has to update it.
Happy to see it back
Honestly this probably means the 4 Doctor utterly misunderstood what the damage too the Chamelon circuit was, while the 6 Doctor was quite aware of it.....but didnt have the skills too fix it properly and then just gave up
I love Logopolis, I love how gothic it feels, the magic as well is just too notch.
Ok so theory- power rangers suits are basically tardis shells. Thats why they fit so many shapes (bigger on the inside). 😅
So this is now the Tom Baker cut of the Logopolis review.
I believe it was established in a comic that the 11th Doctor intentionally sabotaged the TARDIS’ Chameleon Circuit beyond repair
Since I didn't comment on this in the original upload, and only now realized it was back, I just wanna say, you seemed a lot more amused by the constant cutaways to that car than Christopher Bidmead was in the audio commentary. Like half his commentary for the first episode is him grumbling about putting so much focus on it.
Some debris hitting the Master right outside his TARDIS happens so often lmao
Alright, who decided to put this video through a time warp? Stupid copyright systems!
Oh my god...
I'M TRAPPED IN A TIME LOOP
We’ve entered a endless recursion of time.
I swear I've said this before but I would love to see you do a video on Earthshock as it's one of my favorite stories from doctor who... Then again anytime you talk about Doctor Who I'm happy.
Yeah 10 year old me didn't get what was going on at all. So neat to see this covered 35 years later.
14:22 fun fact qwerty was designed to slow down people writing on typewriters
Speaking of Cybermen Tom Baker in an interview that he "Never really liked the Cybermen." Which makes me wonder what it would it been like had John Pertwee been in that story? Also, I love the Zyuranger callback.
Third times the charm?
Again, Dr. Who probably has a quote to throw into the BBC's face, and I had an idea listening to Todd in the Shadows and Rap Critic reviewing a stoner comedy.
Infinite* parking garage as the high concept for a Dr. Who plot.
28:08 The Master's a crazy asshole, that's why.
I have read that the Watcher is supposed to be an "omen of regeneration" but like you said, thats in the extended media, who then tried to retcon it so the other doctors saw the Watcher too.
More, please. Also, some McCoy, perhaps? He's my "first Doctor", too. Remembrance of the Daleks, perhaps?
Anyway, as long as it remains a side project, most people won't mind, I'd hope. It's not like you suddenly did nothing but wrestling videos or something ...
If you want Brandon cult movie reviews review doctor who but he still hasn't done the movies then this guy is the person you need
At this point, I'm convinced this episode is cursed.
“Did they leave in a flub?” Likely, it’s not uncommon for the Classic Era. Good old William Hartnell could never really get his lines straight.
20:40 idk if anyone has commented on this and i couldnt find any while looking so i appologise if this has been answered. classic who tended to have alot of minor flubs left in due to budget. BBC at the time wouldnt allocate them film to retake scenes so for the most part what we see is usually tthe first take of a scene (unless they had extra film left over at the end). this speaks wonders to the directing of classic who since majority of episodes went off without a hitch.
8:57 I think that's what they did in Madoka Magica
The Doctor has a very toxic relationship with the Master
"Survival" was when Antony Aiensly peaked as the Master imo. Unfortunate that it was in the final episode of Classic Who, would've loved to have seen more of him going up against the 7th Doctor.
'the Doctor 's only constant companion. Death.' yeah she's usually in one of the backrooms making out with a personification of the TARDIS. The Doctor keeps her busy.
43:22 "I hate this plan, and I'm upset I have to be a part of it." 48:19 Or farting into the microphone, as I've seen in one video.
When visiting Glasgow, Scotland 4 years ago, I saw a real Police Box in the middle of the city, and called it the TARDIS, much to the amusement of my brother (who, thanks to me, is vaguely familiar with DOCTOR WHO), and the confusion of his girlfriend and out housemate we took with us (who never heard of DW until then).
Okay, fourth time's the charm, let's go!
I think this upload is stuck in a time loop
Can Comicron One time travel? If so then that's freakn' awesome!
This is like 3rd try now ?
12:51 I mean, he can't exactly crap in the past now, can he? Okay, technically he could.
5:19 I tried to review The Daleks and got burnt out and only uploaded an unfinished review.
Definitely a lesson learned there with the way older serials that were far too many episodes long and had so much excess in padding. I did later successfully review the much briefer Third Doctor serial Terror of the Autons to tie into my story as it was the debut of The Master but honestly I don't think I did a very good job with that review or the story segment (how does Database Ranger do it? Guy makes integrating story and review material look so easy).
Something I’ve noticed with Dalek Master Plan which has a whopping 12 episodes! At one point did anyone say no or this is too much?
Well, it’s back up now. A shame it’s been taken down and reuploaded so many times… still, always good to support a creator you love.
I feel like my aforementioned comparison to Harry's Moving Media and his clusterfuck of Doctor Who copyright is proven.
Again?
Will this episode ever stay on?
LINKARA’S SEEN BLACKADDER!!!
If BBC claimed those seconds of you talking on camera they better make you canon to the Doctor Who universe or something, if not why the hell claimed that stuff.
13:04 I've had my own experience with having to sit in a terminal and in a grounded airplane for hours but IDR why and I don't think I was getting baked by summer heat.
From one Doctor Who fan to another, with the fact that the Doctor would revisit a few faces, how do you feel about David Tennant being the first of the Doctor’s old faces to be revisited?
48:13 - I’m just reminded, by this, of the moments the Master starts having a dance party mid evil plan (Voodoo Child, I Can’t Decide, Rasputin).
Oi linkara danny chase is back technically young justice new episode showed us
We need more reviews of Doctor Who related content ASAP!!
Could we get the Cybermen to destroy YT? It could save us the favour from Content ID.
Awesome
You should review the last episode of the dr and rate the regeneration: or the Caves oF Andronani would be a good one as that is one of my favorite stories and Peter Davison’s finest moment as the Dr
You see... I always took this serial as a major drop as to how Time Lords work...
Block Transfer Computation and Chameleon circuits always strike me as a way to explain regeneration. And how there are Gallifreyan and then there are Time Lords.
But recent stuff on that seem to have demolished that theory of mine.
well dang.....maybe there's still a way for that to still work?
@@gracekim25 I am not sure it does still work with everything that came about... perhaps I can force it. The doctor, as a child, showed up with this ability to regenerate and time lords figured it out from them. But we still don't know where the doctor came from so let's say they came from logopolis and was a sort of prodigy able to almost unconsciously do it and the time lords didn't really understand it as much as just kinda copied it. I grant... that's me forcing a square peg into a triangular hole...
I swear, if I ever make anything, I am putting in all contracts that striking youtube vids on my stuff cannot be done. I am not gonna make people who want to talk about things I make be forced to jump through hoops to keep their vids up.
DANNY CHASE LIVES!!!!!! NEWEST EPISODE OF YOUNG JUSTICE!
So what exactly is the the master of? Or is it just a big ego small wang thing, like owning a big truck?
He'd say he's the master of all - basically his declaration to the universe "I am your superior and you will obey me."
I hope all this Content ID hassle doesn't deter Linkara from doing more Doctor Who episodes for viewer's choice. I really enjoyed this review, and I'd love to see more Classic Who (and potentially other TV shows/movies) reviews, even outside of Patreon requests.
TFW you have to rewatch a section a video with closed captions becuase you thought you heard Linkara say 'Green Jew Ranger'
