"Hey let's turn this Canadian guy into an Aussie"
Yeah, sure would be strange, wouldn't it Hugh Jackma-wait...
Hey, as long he's got a couple of smooth criminals "down unda", I'm ok with it.
Why.... did they make Wolverine Australian, when they already had a well established Aussie? Pyro!
wait? originally released today? yay!
I was thinking the same thing.
Neil Ross voiced Wolverine, not Michael Bell.
You know what's funny? Wolverine here's given an Australian accent for no reason and yet later on Hugh Jackman an actual Australian is now the definitive on screen Wolverine.
FORESHADOWING!
Seems like a precedent has been set.
I always thought that Scott McNeil would be a great voice actor for Wolverine. But now knowing the history of the character on screen and in the comics... ...Dang! He's perfect!
And they are great at giving Wolverine his voice. I'm not going to argue about that.
I prefer Cal Dodd's Wolverine myself.
"My mutant power is invading people's privacy!"
Pretty accurate, actually.
Stan Lee warning us to look out for Mutants with a tone that suggests a witch hunt. This is the most mixed message since Marvel successfully argued in court that Mutant characters aren't human. (Apparently human action figures were taxed more than non human toys).
I remember hearing about that court case. Proof that money will always be more important than story elements and plot points for Marvel in the long run!
Mixed? I take all of this combined with the contradictory attitudes held against mutants vs. other super powered beings to mean that Marvel hates Mutants.
They would have to be human, mutants and humans can interbreed and produce fertility children, if they weren't human that wouldn't be possible.
True, but in comics humans and aliens can produce children, because comic book science.
The X-Men never considered hiring a PR firm. They are very good at fighting people, just not at the whole "Promoting human-mutant peace" bit.
X Men Evolution also had Nightcrawler hit on Kitty but the difference there was that he and Kitty were about the same age.So it was a lot less creepy. Also, Kitty states in this pilot that her parents don't know where she is. Making this even more creepy.
...How the hell could Kitty's family not know where she is?
That's a very good question. Maybe she ran away.
Because she didn't tell them. There, easy.
She only said that her parents don't know about her powers, not that they didn't know where she was at the moment. They would have come up with a plausible explanation for her absence if the show had come to fruition.
Funnily enough a similar plot happened to this in Evolution only with Mystique instead of Magneto unleashing Juggernaut and Kitty being with the other cast members away at a camp.
"Where can I join the terrorist organisation where we run around in lingerie?" - that audio clip's gonna come back to bite you someday, Lewis.
@That Hippie Gamer He means that someone one day will post that completely out of context
“Don’t you remember what it was like when YOU first discovered YOU were a mutant?”
Not that he wasn’t being an asshole, but Storm…. You’re talking to Wolverine.
Well, Kitty did not kill anyone, so she already takes her powers better then Wolverine did, even if he doesn't know it.
15:57 To be fair, this version of Nightcrawler seems like the kind of guy you legitimately DON'T want near your kids.
He is basically, the rapey skunk cartoon character. That was the personality that they gave him.
@@davidbauler3159 Had the show been greenlit, he would've had his character development.
He comes off as a Creep from the start, because he's not really had much of a Culture around people like that...
I mean he's been bullied, considered a Circus freak, & other things, o_@ His only friend is the Church, ~_~
When he first sees her, as a newbie, he feels she is like him, & wants to give her a warm welcome, but as she gets freaked out,
he comes off as a creep... But she later likes him... So To me? He is still in character in here as Pryde Of The X-Men as he has always
been for all those years after the Pilot, o_@
No?
Maybe Hugh Jackman saw this show and thought Wolverine was always Australian
Ya, except... Hugh did all his research on the wrong Criteria when he stared in the first Movie, o_@
@@KenyoMurabu At least David Hayter was around to help.
............Yeah no really he was like writing staff on one or two of those in between Solid Snake recordings.
The voice acting is the best part about this series, it's got a lot of old school 80's VAs like Micheal Belle, John Stephenson, Kath Soucie, Frank Welker, and Neil Ross.
So we have a Canadian who sounds Australian, a German who sounds French, and a Brit who sounds like Peter Lorre...
Nostalgia Critic: I love it! It'll confuse the enemy!
Xavier isn't a Brit. He's a New Yorker by birth. The Xavier School is literally his ancestral mansion.
@@RabblesTheBinx I was referring to Toad.
@@ebwarg right, I realized that afterwards, but you'd already responded. I legitimately forgot that Toad is English.
@@ebwarg wait, Toad is British?
tbh i heard the themesong saying "X-Men, kids today," which just makes me think of someone rolling their eyes and going "ugh, kids today with their mutant powers and civil rights allegories"
"Lockheed does a heel-turn on him."
*Lockheed bites Magneto's heel*
That bit got me chuckling.
To me it sounds like:
"X-men
X-Men
This is the day
This is the day"
I always heard the line was "this is -their- day", myself.
I allways got, "it's their day"
to me it sounds like missed the day
Same here.
Yeah, but is the part afterwads? "X-Men, coming yodla-eee-dee"
Will Meugniot, Rick Hoberg, and myself were the Directors of "Pryde of the X-Men", as well as the storyboard artists on the "Spiderman and his Amazing Friends", where we added the X-Men into the episode "A Firestar is Born". Although the pilot didn't sell the series, the three of us were a big part of the "X-Men:TAS" series that sold later with story editors Eric and Julia Lewald. All the inconsistencies you cited, yep, we bear that hilarious burden as well as the series' successful five-year run later on.
Why did you make Wolverine Orange?
Frankly, the chorus to me sounds like it's saying:
♪ X-MEN! (_X-MEN!_) This is the day! (_This is the day!_)
X-MEN! (_X-MEN!_) Coming your way! ♫
Boy, when I was in college and was just really getting into X-Men, everyone RAVED about Pryde of the X-Men. It would come up every time people were talking about the animated series. Everyone thought it was the best thing ever--I recall one guy disliking the regular series because he was hoping it'd be a continuation of Pryde and he never got over that disappointment.
So, I got the VHS tape and ... the animation was fantastic and it was cool hearing Michael Bell and Frank Welker, but ... There was stuff I disliked too. Wolverine's accent really bugged me and Storm's childish "Imma put a storm cloud over yer head LOL" moment just made me go, "... really?". I honestly don't remember much else. Like you said, it was just okay--it had its good and bad points.
Yah, there wasn't much point to this comment other then "Hey, I remember this" =P
Earl Boen's Magneto wasn't too bad, either. If only Linda Hamilton were there to break his arm.
I remember that too. It came out when I was In junior high. I also was understandably irate when the series came out because it was NOTHING like the pilot. But the series was pretty damn good.
As for the pilot, I LOVED hearing those classic voices! Other than the Canadian hero having an Australian accent, I LOVED it.
From what I heard, Marvel did one less RoboCop episode (one of the many shows it did back then) and used that money to put together a TV pilot that would appeal to TV networks first and fans second.
I wonder if that love had anything to do with "man, that cartoon was cool, now let's go to the arcade to play the video game of it!"
Big ole social event around this one pilot, which is a wild concept to think of.
I can only imagine how Shadows of the Empire would've been if it also had some form of cartoon to go along with the comic line and game.
Muppet Babies lasted Eight Seasons because it had a reason to exist beyond cuteness.
Yeah. MONEY!!
I always thought Magneto's helmet was to keep charles from reading his mind or at least that was what i was told.
ah so then the plot convenience fairy just said screw it okie dokie.
apparently his helmet didn't protect him from Xaviers telekenetic powers originally, thats a more recent thing in comics. not sure why he had the helmet to begin with if it didn't protect him like that but I'm going by what I've been told/read
In the comics, it was Juggernaut's helmet that had that ability, not Magneto's.
@@gRinchY-op5vr magneto's helmet didn't grant protection from telepathy until the first movie in 2000. Up until then, Juggernaut's helmet was the only one that did that. Magneto wore a helmet...because he liked it.
12:33
Wolverine: "No. No, I don't. I have amnesia and don't remember most of my life, remember?"
I'm not sure which commercial was weirder, the SpiderMan one at the beginning or the sponsored one at the end.
at least the one at the end is intentionally weird
The one at the end looks well animated and drawn, yet there's a lack of detail in some areas that takes me out of it.
To be honest, the ad at the end looked like an ad for someone's fetish cartoons, which...this seems like not the most appropriate place to advertise that.
The briefly mentioned New Fantastic Four is pretty amazing in its own right
That's the show with the amazing moment where Reed Richards tricks Magneto with a wooden gun. It's...flawless.
21:35 Next Time.....Xavier sniffs the Earth uncomfortably.
An Aussie Wolverine? I wanted to ask those in charge of that decision if they have a time machine.
And on an unrelated note..the pilot then had Cyclops and Emma Frost paired off in a fight.
Yeah I agree, I think they had some confusion about the accents, also Nightcrawler didn't sound German, he had a French accent!
Speculative Dude Reviews Even when he said "Liebchen?"
Speculative Dude Reviews Okay, I take it back, he does sound more French, despite the smatterings of German.
On a related note, isn't Pyro supposed to be Australian? Would it have been so hard to have two guys fake OZ accents in this production?
Kitty has a pet alien dragon? *I want the name of that pet store!*
While it's dated, I personally like Dazzler's disco look better.
7:56 So... Emma Frost can shoot Chaos Spears now?
Where's that DAMN fourth Infinity Stone!?
Looks like levitation too. ...and much later the comics would jump on the bandwagon of giving Emma additional powers by making her expensive-colossus.
Emma Frost is a Telepath... oO
I believe those Physonic Blasts she does is from Telepathy, that gives her power to bring thought into a Physical Form, making her able to do things that can hurt people, oO
As well as make people believe they are seeing things that really aren't there... oO
And she can Fly, I guess, too... But in the so called Telepathy realm, she could do that anyways, oO
I don't know much of anything to do with any form of Glass or Ice Shards or whatever as a form of Encasing her into a Mold of Egg or Hardened Substance...
But I believe people call it her Diamond Form? No? I until Wolverine the movie came out, had never even heard of that before, & thought it made her a weak character,
& felt she was much better portayed in Pryde Of The X-Men then any other media, oO
@@KenyoMurabu Man what are you talking about? Emma's diamond form was a secondary mutation she developed after Cassandra Nova experimented on her. And likewise it was always a sort of interesting power, because while it makes her relatively invulnerable physically, but what it doesn't do is make her much stronger physically while also coming at the expense of shutting down both her telepathy and her emotions.
Considering how massively powerful she is, diamond form tends to be something she does when she literally just needs to not deal with whatever it is or needs a unbreakable psychic defense against inhuman or possession foes. And it doesn't encase anything, all of her body's tissues change into a crystalline structure. She becomes a literal human shaped diamond.
I love how Magneto grabbed his cape as he steps down from the area where the force field was holding him. He has this little swing in his hip that makes him look very……well let's just say, "flamboyant".
LOL XD
10:25 Dammit Kurt this is why we keep losing students!
Wait, how is Professor X able to read Magneto's mind when his helmet is on? I only have very basic knowledge of X-men lore, but I'm pretty sure that helmet exists to ensure that his mind ISN'T read or anything.
Also, I want Linkara to voice Wolverine as an Aussie from now on.
Even the female one?
Jack O Brien ...That might be kinda funny, actually. Have them both be Aussies.
This was BEFORE it was established that Magneto's helmet served as a defense against telepathy. Before that, Magneto and Xavier had numerous spur-of-the-moment mental conversations.
2wingo Oh, okay.
Like I said, I'm only casually into X-men lore.
In the comics, it's actually Juggernaut's helmet that blocks Charles.
Hugh Jackman is Australian, so in retrospect, Australian Wolverine works.
WHY IS EVERYONE TELLING ME TO REGISTER TO VOTE TODAY!?!
Because Trump vs Hilary.
Today is us national voter reminder day.
I like how Linksano still seems to happily be in Linkara's employ considering the proposed payment, comikron one's holodeck, being well trashed and the threat, dropping him on Vyce's prison, no longer being a thing.
I actually remembered when this actually aired on television. The animation and artwork was the best I've seen for. The smooth frame rate was refreshing as well as coloring, shading, and rendering. I very much enjoyed the pilot and wished it had gone into production back then, but had it had done so I am sure the quality of the episodes would not even come close to the grandeur of the pilot. Still, maybe it was for the best that it didn't go into production as we got an even better version in the 90's via FoxKids. Awesome episode.
I am just happy that we got the 90s x-men cartoon series instead
"Animated by Toei and not poorly put together"... HA
I'm *ALWAYS* bitter about Sailor Moon Crystal Season I and II. Season III was actually very enjoyable
(sorry for repost, messed up getting the reply right)
I guess you could say... the show's problems were CRYSTAL clear from the start?
@@kingofthegundam7974 *clutches bridge of nose, sighs*
Cyclops: You guys go ahead. I'm going to stay behind and...er...fight the White Queen. (Think they bought it, Emma?)
Also..the Spidey PSA is giving me a headache..also, what are the odds that PSA Spidey has his own universe?
PSA Spidey is really just another clone. I'm sure somewhere they have like 23 comics dedicated to him before he dropped out of existence.
*****
I think the laugh at the beginning of the PSA was Morlun..and then he got sick with the constant spinning.
Morlun got rid of him
I thought the Theme was saying "this is the Day!"
I thought it said "leads the way!"
I thought it was "Make my way".
I only hear "yesterday!"
I heard "Fish of the Day".
I heard, "X-MEEEN! Seize the day!"
That Spiderman looks a lot like the Toku Spiderman.
I wanna see Storm animated in her Mohawk look. The flowing royal attire is classic but Mohawks are badass!
And wolverine would NEVER be played by an Australian aga---oh wait
"I am Linkara, master of magic gun."
These are apparently the lyrics:
No place to hide... no place to run (no place to run)
The mutant age (The mutant age)... has now begun!
X-Men (X-Men)
This is the day (This is the day)
X-Men (X-Men)
Coming your way!
Magneto's hordes are on their way to pillage, burn and plunder
But there's one team that will not yield, the team that strikes like thunder!
X-Men (X-Men)
This is the day (This is the day)
X-Men (X-Men)
Coming your way!
Geeze, Nightcrawler just wanted to kiss the girl's hand. People act like he pulled out his schvantz and started chasing her around.
maybe spider-man has a headache from all that spinning in that commercial.
The animation here is far smoother than the 90s X-MEN series, that show's animation was kinda stiff. I liked this one better
Yeah, but this is only one episode. I doubt it would have looked like this consistently if it had been picked up.
I was digging the artwork too. I thought everyone looked excellent.
It was a pilot, they had to put Maximum Effort.
That's because Akom was a much weaker studio than Toei. They couldn't do superhero animation very well.
The sad thing is that Toei sucks so unimaginably hard today. So cheap. So, so, so, so cheap.
So yeah if Marvel series take place within the same universes depending upon adaptation where does Japanese Spiderman fit into all this?
He doesn't. He's off on his own separate universe.
With Blackjack and Hookers
There are no wolverines in Australia. They should have renamed the character to Dingo.
Yee
That would have been terrible for a Name, o_@
People need to stop & get a grip on reality...
First of all?
You don't have to have a Voice of another Country to play a Part...
Think? America has many, many different types of Voices & cultures, & accents in it...
Claiming that an Australian can't be the voice of someone who lives somewhere else?
Is like saying an Italian can't live in Japan, because of their color or the way they speak, o_@
or that an Italian can't be part Japanese? or that a Japanese can't speak fluid Italian without an Asian Accent...
This is why, I think it's stupid when people get upset about a Color or nationality or voices or accents, or the way someone looks in a Live Action, ~_~
To me, it doesn't matter, just as long as they do the part good, & they actually look like what their suppose to look like... After that, I can care less if they are not of the same race,
or culture... ~_~
I mean, we are asking actors, people who act as if they were someone they were not, to play a part of a character, & we ask them to do the part how we feel they should do it...
We are not looking for Logan from the Comics to play himself, because he in the real world does not exist, lOl… When it comes to Bashing Actors for portrayals of Characters,
& their White Washing, or whatever it is they call it now... They need to remember, these Characters do not exist in the real world we live in, so stop fussing over trying
to find them, lOl...
KenyoMurabu not to mention quoll would have been a better name
We're do wolverines live?
dark souls around Siberia, the Nordic countries and Canada/ Alaska.
Well the reason the dragon is on Asteroid M is simple. So that Kitty can get her pet by the end of the episode
Seriously though, the 1990s X-Men and Spiderman animated series have aged very well over the years. It is a must-see for any comic book fan.
Too bad 'X-Men's animation didn't age well. 'Pryde's animation aged much better.
Eamonn Deane I also recommend season 2 of the 90's 'Fantastic Four' Much better animation than Akom, and WAY better than it's first season.
I heard X-Men, X-Men This Is The Day, X-Men X-Men Coming Your Way!
I’m surprised a more obscure character like Dazzler got chosen
Makes you wonder if in the X-Men arcade game, all the kids ran toward the ones they know and the one who gets there last goes "awwwwwww maaaaaaaaaaan, I'm stuck with DAZZLER."
X-Men 90's this ain't.
Yeah, it's better!
No.
Well, I happily would’ve traded Jean Grey and Jubilee for a regular Colossus and Nightcrawler.
Atleast we didn't have a Jean who faint every five minutes
It sounded like the chorus was saying "X-man! X-men! Seize the day! but I'm not sure.
Wait, why would he project the image of the wheelchair? I can guarantee you that if I had astral projection powers, my avatar would be 6'5" with a sixpack. And HAIR!
You know, I'd imagine that the ones watching the VHS would be well under 18, thus well under the legal age to go and vote, so what's up with the go vote PSA with Spidy? Where the kids supposed to show that part to their non-voting lazy ass parents like, "See Mom and Dad, Spidy says you need to go out and vote!"
Yeah that always puzzles me when kid shows tell you to do adult things
I think this cartoon was my very first exposure to the X-Men. I remember seeing it as a kid, but only vaguely.
That was my favourite live action spiderman
I wish that this was a series or that Kitty Pryde had her own ongoing series. She's awesome and one of the few Jewish characters in Marvel.
Kitty Pryde is not only my favorite member of the X-Men, but also my second-favorite comic book superhero of all-time (number one is Spider-Man)!
Isn't Magneto Jewish, or was that just something invented by the movies?
Wonder how he would deal with someone like red skull or hydra who are all intents and purposes are Nazis.
The twin retcon is so stupid.
Yeah, just throw away decades of storylines and character building out of spite.
Well at least they weren't turned into Nazis.
Good job getting caught up on UA-cam, Linkara. I can't wait to see what more you have to offer. I love your work, I've been watching your show for years and I'm glad that you're still going.
Hey, this ended up being the source for an arcade game that kicks ass. So there's that.
"WELCOME TO DIE!! X-MEN!!"
X-Men (X-Men!) this today (this today!)
X-Men (X-Men!) coming your way!
I was the one who Changed the Metrolyrics to that :)
X-men, X-men, gay for pay, have it your way, X-men, X-men, go all the way...?
I am somewhat curious, but has Xavier allowed regular humans to be at his school, or does he just rejected them, which would make his cause for coexistence a bit hypocritical, I mean yeah I get he wants to keep his mutants safe but what if their were humans who actually want to help them?
Demon bear spirit turning people into Native Americans?
Finally, my fetish is represented!
Xavier has allowed normal humans to work at the school. Provided of course they don't hold an hidden prejudice toward mutants.
On of the more recent examples is Anna. A nurse who worked at Xavier's and had a brief relationship with Havok.
There was a time during Grant Morrison's run on X-Men where Xavier did open his school to human students. I think it set off the Riot at Xavier's storyline.
Emma Frost and Sean Cassidy allowed human students on their "franchise" of the school (comic was "Generation X").
I never finished that book, so I don't know how all that ended.
Emma's half-sister mind-controlled the humans to riot. Everett died in the chaos trying to defuse a bomb.
I'm going to make a world where Mutants rule by destroying the planet. I truly am the Master of Magnet!
Earth, Welcome to Die!
I AM LINKARA!! MASTER OF BAD COMIC!!
I hear "This is the day! This is the day!"
You know, If Xavier can actually read Magneto's mind(since apparently the helmet does nothing in this version) couldn't he also just telepathically force Magneto to not want to destroy the world and turn himself in?
He might not want to violate a person's free will by forcing commands onto them.
@@kingofthegundam7974Hah. Oh, the irony.
I had this episode on VHS back in the day and I freaking loved it. It definitely has its faults, though I wasn't as creeped out by Nightcrawler as you are, but 6-year-old me loved this thing. Pure, fun, action from beginning to end. I also loved the designs, including brown Wolverine.
The actual series is better in almost every way, but this short still holds a place in my heart.
I think it's ''X-Men! X-Men! This is the day! This is the Day!"
Ahh....so this is where the Ultimate universe got creeper Nightcrawler from.
10:31 It makes it creepier when you remember that Nightcrawler is a Catholic priest in a comic series.
I think this is before he was revealed to Catholic, (probably in the 90s)
I nearly wore out the tape of this growing up. And this is by far my favorite X-men team aesthetic. It just screams “larger than life adventure”.
I like Kitty more than Jubilee because she is a better fighter with her passive mutant ability than Jubilee is with an aggressive ability.
Jubilee has a tendency to be annoying, especially in the 90's series, Kitty was never (as far as I can tell) *that* annoying.
I love Jubilee, so I'm gonna be biased. On the one hand, Kitty eventually becomes a warrior with a swords and a dragon companion. Sweet! On the other, Jubilee once made a villain so mad his powers exploded on his face.
I just love that annoying little brat.
In Soviet Russia, Kitty wants to have kids with Colossus.
I do dig the animation style, though.
“Let’s let Stan lee start us off” STAAAAAAAN WHAAAAAAAAA 😿😿😿😿
6:35 I am a man! A stinking man!
RIP Stan Lee
From the laughter in the Spiderman PSA , this is what Spidey did while Abyss Lazered Cable and Ryu's faces in.
I think this was my first introduction to the X-Men. I think I saw it on TV once in the 90s. I love this animation and would have loved a series with this art.
I always liked this design for Dazzler. The short hair works on her and I dig the jacket. Also funny that Marvel was pushing for Aussie Wolverine and then Hugh Jackman (an Aussie) plays him.
This TV movie is a classic to me and will never get old.
Wait, how did Xavier read Magneto's mind? He's wearing his telepathy blocking helmet!
The helmet did jack before the 2000s movies.
When I saw this episode for the first time, in my early teens, I was a fan of X-men: Evolution and well familiar with Nightcrawler's insecurities about his looks in that continuity, and I think I considered Kitty wrongful in her reaction towards him, but when I saw it again when I got older I reacted to how creepily he was acting. He just kept invading her personal space and kissing her hand without permission even AFTER she had made it quite clear that she didn't like it!
''Then again, bigotry is irrational''.
Agreed... when we are talking about skin colour or who it is that you like to kiss. But irrational to be scared of people that can bend and break the laws of physics on a whim? Who have the power to explode or bathe you in acid or slice you in half with lasers? That has always been the problem with ''bigotry'' in relation to mutants, because to be frank, if they existed in real life I would be scared shitless of being in the same room with one.
Comparatively, no one really minds Inhumans, so it is bigotry.
Eugenideddis Which tbh is less a flaw with my point and more of a problem with the infamous plotholes that come with having the X-Men as part of a shared universe. As much as people like to badmouth Fox, the fact that Marvel lost the film rights to these characters was actually a good thing in the long run because we got the solitary mutant universe that it should have been from the start.
Yeah, I just never liked Inhumans before they became "not-mutants", and the fact that they're accepted irritates me to no end.
I think it has to do with more of the anti-mutant propaganda that is spread across the X-men universe, You don't see the avengers with such a bad rep or with superheroes that have similarly destructive powers but doesn't come from the mutant gene.
...So we aren't allowed to be selective about who we find physically/sexually attractive anymore, we have to find EVERYONE who is the gender we are attracted to attractive now so that we aren't "bigots"?
I love the thumbnail for this episode. I can't tell if it's Wolverine lamenting over his glory days or a Wolverine cosplayers that has a major crush on him.
OMG, I HAVE THAT EPISODE! My mom bought the tape YEARS ago to play at my big sister's birthday party. We watched it a ton of times after that. It's why I picture Wolverine with an Aussie accent to this day.
Intrestingly the idea of both nightcrawler and kitty being both teenagers was done in x men evolution. There also was some romatic hints early on in the series. Though later nightcrawler had amada as his love intrest and kitty had avalanch as her love intrest.
I like the platonic relationships they had with each other and with Rogue. If all _three_ hung out more often, they'd be an ideal platonic OT3.
Australian Wolverine foreshadowing Hugh Jackman Wolverine. :3
You can explain so much of this show with "because shut up."
It's good to know that Charles Xavier, the mightiest telepath on earth, capable of connecting to the minds of every living, sentient being on the planet and has mastered the amazing feat of astrl projection... projects an image of himself that is also in a damn wheelchair.
I am sure you have better things to do than check out comments from month old videos. I have only been around for just at a month, Thanks for the welcome! You churn out the great content, keep up the keep kick booty work!
Am I the only person that saw a swastika when Spider-Man spun
I've always heard it as 'This is the day'
You know Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler was 21 in the comics when he first met Kitty Pryde aka Shadow Cat, and she was 13/14. Thank god X-men Evolution made Kurt and Kitty the same age, sort of. They almost had a romance together but never went anywhere seeing how that show was more focused pairing up Kitty with Lance Alvers aka Avalanche.
13:50 I thought that Magneto's helmet prevented Charles from reading his mind?
I also like the image of Juggernaut and Magneto working together to break into the mansion.
Also, the whole 'fear mutants' opening speech being given by Stan Lee is weird.
That was apparently an invention for the first X-Men movie that got backfilled into every other piece of media. XD
Oh right October is next, I forgot about that...
I look forward to whatever plot developments we get. Also Moarte. Always look forward to him.
We shoild remember that cornel's speech at his retirement after fighting Magneto. " I'm on a stage! A stinking stage!" Wise words.
glad to see you caught up Lewis. nice background btw
It's rare to hear of Dazzler outside of the comics, even in a quick cameo. One good thing that may have come out of this series if it was made would be the introduction of some lesser known characters to people who don't read the comics. I'm always appreciative when other forms of media does that. It provides a more rounded and connected community.
Eamonn Deane
Indeed. The animated series also gave Victor his most oft used backstory (which is the best, in my opinion), showing how other media on comic characters can influence the comics, as well.
Eamonn Deane
Absolutely. I'm fine with coming up with something original, as well, but don't create a plotline that directly spits in the face of the previous. Fans tend not to enjoy that.
I understand that they were attempting to 'evolve' the narrative by taking elements of the previous and adding onto it. That is, of course, perfectly fine. But, a good rule of thumb to follow when attempting this is 'does this build our understanding of the character?'
In this case, the answer was 'no'. What we got instead was a very significant alteration of an otherwise established lore that worked towards the narrative (of the Court of Owls) rather than the character.
If they added the bit about his mother and having Nora as the second 'offense' of this nature, I can see that working. I'm also certainly not against someone tempting him with use of his research to help others after he believed it all to be lost to all but him as a way to motivate him towards a new plan.
Conversely, they could have just started fresh. We may or may not have liked the backstory, but rewrites are better than an unrealistic change in character or motivation for a character (in my opinion). Fries went from sympathetic to greatly despised for me, and that should not happen unless there's a very good reason for it.
What are your thoughts on the matter?

Yeah...yeah. *Sadly nods*
I honestly never thought we'd catch up on videos on UA-cam. I always figured we'd just be one week off forever. This is a brave new world of not checking Channel Awesome we're entering~
holy shit! the first simulcast on UA-cam Atop The Fourth Wall episode.
Re: Rick Hoberg's anecdote - Interesting how Crocodile Dundee mania influenced Wolverine's accent when Australian Wolverine first appeared in the Sept 25, 1982 episode of Spidey and his Amazing Friends and Crocodile Dundee didn't hit the theaters until 1986.
What I see as probably more likely in the late 80's during production of Pryde is ,"Hey, we've already used this Australian Wolverine twice on Spidey a couple of years ago, let's keep him, and what with Crocodile Dundee being a hit, we might be able to surf the Aussie-mania."
