Holy shit, Moarte is vicious when he wants to be. I keep forgetting that he's a flesh-eating ghoul with vast mystical power and not just a guy who tells cheesy jokes about horror comics and plays poker with ghosts.

All these years of watching Lewis and I thought he was just a joke character for a side series. Boy am I pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. And Lewis' performance was spot on. Spine tinglingly terrifying and then bouncing back to goofy fun in a second.

I love how much Linkara's dramatic acting, and Moarte makeup, has improved. Total props to everyone involved. And, once again, congratulations to Mark on his transition. I wish him the best in all endeavors.

I've always loved the trope of the comedic side character that we've known for years turning out to be far more powerful than we ever thought, but they are just happy doing silly stuff.

Okay Having Mystero be the puppet master was absolutely brilliant and isn't done enough. Again these issues are super interesting in hindsight with Ottos redemption and modern-day full-time superheroics.
Agreed! Mysterio's entire gimmick is that he's a trickster, an illusionist, a manipulator! He should be a MAJOR threat to Spidey, possibly even one of those characters like Kingpin or Dr. Doom who have branched out to threatening other Marvel characters.
Yeah, this actually seemed like a fairly decent storyline. And it's not an out-of-nowhere twist - Mysterio is RIGHT THERE the whole time, just hoping that everyone pays attention to the more talkative villains.
Interesting use of previous story arcs to explain how Moarte got involved in all this.
Mechakara finally resurfacing and as theorized, he's turned himself into a cyborg. Kinda hope he finds a way to become a full robot again, he was really cool as one since the beginning.
that seems to be his goal, replace the flesh body with robot parts until he's all machine, no man.

I kinda liked this storyline, if only for Peter using Ock's tentacles and Mysterio being the true mastermind. I love Mysterio and his plan here was actually quite clever.

Can I just say I love what you did with Muarte here? He's a great character, and I've always loved characters that are primarily just kind of goofy secondaries, but every once in a while, you get the idea that they're actually insanely powerful. And I love that you had him explain "I'm not doing this for you, I'm not doing this out of some sense of a threat, I was annoyed and I dealt with it; but I'm NOT going to be a deus ex machina for your stories."
It lets him continue to be his usual self without your stories constantly begging the question "oh, is Vice/MechaKara/etc back? Why not just call Muarte?" Solid storytelling man.
I freaking love Moarte, and hoo boy did this do him Justice like I never realized he needed. An all powerful ghoul with a thirst for horror, but at the end of the day all he really wants to do is share his fun with kids in a harmless little web show. I wouldn’t mind an origin story for him. I’d also like to see more of Harvey, if anything to hear Luis sing some more, and Linksano.
Well we don't have ONE origin for him but several much like The Joker. Personally I believe "The Ghoul" is his actual origin.

I'm more afraid of the fact that he specifically called out Internet Reviewer serialized antics as beneath him. "Battles against Outer Gods and Relics of Awesome power...How boring and small." That is just a chilling attitude for a being to have. It really sells the idea of power.

I hope this doesn't sound too mean, but Mirror Margaret's stilted line delivery, to me, really emphasizes her backstory. Because she hasn't actively done much since Mirrorkara was defeated, it feels like she's been rehearsing lines like those a bit because they sound cool. Even if she means it, it feels like she doesn't actually believe it. Just trying to convince herself.
I doubt this is actually the case, but that's how it feels like to me. Because she's just a girl, like LInkara says. Not a god. And her line delivery kinda shows that.
And now she's teaming up with Mechakara, slowly trying to undo what Uropa's energy field did to him and become a machine again.
I wish that was the case, but even whn she's supposed to be breaking down and showing he true emotion, it's still just as stiff. I also don't want to be too mean, and like Linkara, she has room for improvement. But this outing... was not good. I'm sorry.

Oh my gosh! The story bit was so, so good! It's always fun when we get to see Linkara's philosophical side. And we finally learn about where Moarte came from . . . and that he is much, much scarier than than a simple ghoul. And the return of Mecha-Kara! Awesome!!!!!

13:50 - It took me a minute to realize they were talking about the insect, not yet *another* character named Bumblebee. I was like, "God, how many characters use that name?"
There are also 2 additional clone sagas. Both Miles Morales as well as Peters daughter Mayday recieved also their own clone-sagas respectively, giving us pretty much a good guy version of Spider-Cide for Miles as a clone turned good, and April Parker, aka Spider-Girl Blue (who is an homage character based on the Superman Red & Blue" story-arc from the silver age)
This was literally the first time that I was genuinely scared of Moarte... your acting and writing are phenomenal as always, Lewis!

I love the Halloween storyline this year it was really good and love the team up.
Interesting Review. I laughed quite a bit at that bit regarding Mysterio's part in "Sin's Past" and the resulting mental image. And the story segment reached quite the thrilling conclusion. Once again, I would like to wish Moarte a happy 10 year anniversary.
Okay...Moarte curb-stomping the Mirror Magic Gun spirit is not something knew I needed in my life. I hope we get to see more of Moarte being a badass in future storynlines.

I remember speaking to Tom DeFalco at a book signing in 1995 in Manhattan. I asked a few questions about Doc Ock's death, and who came up with the new, female Doc Ock. He didn't seem really excited about the storyline. Killing Otto was probably editorially mandated, and he wasn't thrilled to discuss it.

Ok, help me, please. I remember searching a Marvel wiki a few years ago and finding a hero that had a Spiderman style suit and Doctor Octopus's tentacles. I remember reading that he was a teenager who was a fan of Doctor Octopus and he was able to recreate them. He met Spider-Man and decided to change his mind and become a hero.
He was definitely not the Octo-Spidey that is discussed in this video.
It's very hard to find him again after Superior Spider Man came out and now all the results for "Spider-Man with Doc Ock tentacles" mostly direct to that character.

Why would Spider-Man call himself "Octo-Spider" when spiders have 8 limbs like octopi? If anything, those tentacles made his name more appropriate.

I started a series of mini-comics as a way to quickly introduce some new characters into my work, back in late 2019. they already had character profiles released, so this was more of a formal introduction. plus, the stories would be dialogue free (mostly) for any non-english speakers reading. 10 comics at 1-2 page length. sounds easy, right? done in a month or two, right? I'm still not done. almost 3 years and I'm *still* working on it. granted, 2020 happened shortly after I started and the rest of the 2020's so far haven't been much better, but still. I understand the feeling of frustration. still, I've made it for 5 years, and you've made it for 14. so here's to many years more, for both of us.

Honestly, I was hoping the Halloween story arc this year would end with Linkara saying "Wait, you can't kill me! It's not Halloween anymore!" And then the whole place turns into the Christmas set.
