So I told my brother about Gozer destroying Cybertron, I said that "starscream was the one who chose the destroyer"
And he immediately said, "it was just a giant starscream wasn't it?"

The joke really writes itself
I was honestly expecting Unicron, even though Starscream at this point would have no way of knowing about the Chaos Bringer...which means that when it was giant Starscream I was blindsided and actually fell from my chair with laughter.
Giant Starscream is _so much better_ than Unicron.
To the guy who made that "pedophile" comment, I can only respond with this quote from C.S. Lewis:

Preach! Just because somebody collect something from their childhood does not make him well that. It just means that they are taking some thing that brought them great comfort as a child into adulthood. Also if that guy things like that he is aware of the people who make this stuff are adults and most likely grew up with an enjoyed it so much that they decided to continue it on so that we more kids could enjoy it. Sounds like one of those edgelords that makes these random stupid comments. Comments like that are like the same people who believe that Loki from Marvel is some sort of a devil for real. It’s the same kind of stupid. And if that’s the case well then he shouldn’t get near CS Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien who basically took the stuff that they loved from childhood and pretty much made an art form out of it.

@@nine_tails137 It's from an essay C.S. Lewis wrote titled _"On Three Ways of Writing for Children"_ where it is the first of 3 arguments he brings up to address those who would see men like him who still love fantasy while in their 50s "scorned and pitied for arrested development."
(Note: during the time C.S. Lewis wrote this, "fantasy" as a genre name hadn't been fully developed. When he mentions "fairy tales" he's referring to even then-modern books like _The Hobbit_ and his own _Chronicles of Narnia,_ not just older stories like Snow White or The Frog Prince.)

2. Everyone collects things, it’s called a hobby. You should try it, commenter
3. Kids stuff is a lot more heartfelt and impactful than some like to think. People are entitled to enjoy whatever they want as long as they don’t gatekeep or use their passion to overlord others.
4. People are allowed to enjoy stuff from childhood. Being a grown up doesn’t mean never having fun or enjoying yourself. Living only to work and make money is not and never will be what being a true adult is.
5. Projection. While it can never be said to be absolute, one who speaks loudly against can often be the exact thing they speak against.

Why Timmy Turner could not have peace because in the world of Fairly Odd Parents, children had almost no human rights, but still were fully aware of what their older counterparts are doing. True fact, this wasn't the first time a character originally played by Earnie Hudson fought alongside Optimus Prime. He played the voice of Agent William Fowler in the Transformers: Prime animated series. And that's just one of MANY top-tier talents that they had in that cast!

Can we talk about how good those lines as Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave were? Because man, Linkara's vocal chops have come a long way.
I'll boast my Starscream, but Megatron is ALWAYS a major hurdle for me - trying to replicate that rasp is hard.

I've read about that Vigo painting in the firehouse some years ago. It's actually a poster from the art museum's gift shop that Vigo escape to after the painting was sprayed. Since it's not the original painting, all Vigo can do is talk.
In other words, he's trapped and powerless.

My buckets of Lego bricks and my shelves of steadily growing Transformers figures dare to differ. Annnnnnnnd the fact that these toys are *made* by adults is lost on someone apparently. Not to mention the certain toys only affordable by adults.
But idiots aside I *loved* this comic. Was easily imagining the classic casts as the characters' voices.
Starscream: "Peter Venkman has fallen! Now, I, STARSCEAM, am the leader of the Ghostbusters!"
Megatron: "... What?"
Fun Fact about Starscreams ghost form:
Not only was this the reason cybertronian scientists researched Starscream to find out how immortality for cybertronians could work (leading into the creation of the Transformers version of the Hulk pretty much) but also, when Tf was still part of Marvel canon, it was speculated that Starscream might've been a cybertronian with the X-Genom to pull this off.
And Cybertron itself is a living entity. Gozer didn't necessarily fully destroyed the world, the Autobots just took it's heart and ran. This means the planet still has a shot of survival once Gozer is defeated. The AllSpark is the planet's heart and it's still very much beating. When Megatron found out, he wanted that power for himself so Optimus had to explain that he stepped on a few toes (which is true, given the main IDW continuity at the time).
Gozer's idea of destroying a world isn't quite really sound, either. It was already uninhabitable by the time the traveller got there, thanks to the loss of the AllSpark. Now that both Gozer and Kremzeek are defeated, it can certainly feel safe to return home, even have a ghostbusting team led by Ectotron once they finish rebuilding. There's always an offchance a destroyed Cybertron can be reborn in each continuity.
The X-Gemone thing sounds like the Transformers equivalent to "outlier", a Cybertronian who exhibits abilities not entirely to their alt mode. The 2005-2018 G1 IDW continuity during the pre-war era treated outliers not that differently from Mutants from the X-Men comics.
That makes the concept of Outliers in Transformers: More than Meets the Eye kind of hilarious in hindsight! 😄
For those of you wondering what ‘Bot was created in order to replicate the X-Genome, that would be Rampage from Beast Wars. He’s what would happen if Hannibal Lecter was an immortal, mechanical, crab-tank, who enjoys seeing his targets overcome with fear. The only reason he’s working for the Predacons is because they got a chunk of his spark taken out, and converted into a device that would shock him in order to keep him in check.
"You've lost MORE THAN ONE car due to potholes this big!?" I believe he's referring to the end of the first film, with the earthquake, just before they climb the tower.
That and Ghostbusters is set in New York in the 80s.

That last part's not too impressive a feat. After seeing Phelan's review of "B.O.T." I'm pretty convinced you could take out a Combiner with a dollar store laser pointer or a decently-sized rock.
Edit: Maybe the sudden change to the War for Cybertron Megatron was supposed to be his ghost devolving into a more monstrous form, as we've seen with characters like the Scoleri Brothers and the Librarian's more ghoulish appearance. Granted we don't see any other cybertronian ghosts do this, but maybe it's Megatron's violent emotions, relentless rage, and betrayal by his most loyal lieutenants that's causing it.
That is an awesome explanation for Megatron's change.
To be fair, most of the fandom straight up HATES B.O.T., and most likely don’t consider it canon.

Also of course combiners are easy to take out they literally are completely mentally unstable to the no fault of their own but their pieces legitimately half of the time hate each other
There's also that time Megatron possessed Bumblebee in Transformers Prime.... but that was from a neural interface called the cordical psychic patch, which is the least outlandish way he's done it.
Megatron is to go to Herald of literal robot Satan

Most people might think that reimagining a goofy monster of the week as a powerful cosmic being is a hell of a weird way to reinterpret the mythology... and it is, but may I remind people that in IDW's Transformers vs. GI Joe comic, Kremzeek is reimagined as a soul eating demon that stalks the Transformers afterlife (and that's not even the weirdest that comic gets with reinterpreting either franchise's respective mythos).
Actually, transformers sparks being ghosts makes sense in transformer universe, since Ghosts are explicitly made of negatively charged energy--thus the proton stream, and total protonic reversal.
Not realy. Starscream is a unique case, because when a Spark chamber breaks the spark in it extinguishes. His spark surviving him getting atomized is anything but normal, and the TF universe aknowledges this fact.
Given sparks are Transformer souls, I don't think Beast Wars retconned Starscream's Ghost so much as explained WHY he's a ghost. He's got a mutated soul that just persisted after death, and allowed him to possess others.
As a bonus, the electrical ghost they encounter is Killerwatt, who was the focus of a The Real Ghostbusters episode~
My favourite honestly is when Starscream just decides to shoot Silmer because he felt like it, followed by a conversation with Peter Venkman while human sized. This is the stuff I read for.
Fun fact: their are technically three characters Frank Welker voiced that being Megatron Soundwave and Ray Stantz since he voiced him in the real ghostbusters cartoon.

This comic was already surprising me with how goofy yet highly knowledgeable it was with franchise lore, but the absolute best part of this entire thing has to be *exasperated Optimus Prime.*
Clearly, the writers had so much fun with this crossover.
Whenever I hear people get put down for the things they like I just imagine one of three people; 1.) Karen's, 2.) People who have sad lives or 3.) Someone who is a fan but is ridiculed for liking the same thing and blames other fans for it.

If you like Ernie Hudson and Soundwave, I recommend "Transformers Prime", which heavily features both!

Or do you have to mention your preference anytime _Prime_ is mentioned? If so, don't let the popular opinion make you insecure in yours; and don't try and "make up for it" by forcing yours where it's irrelevant.
That said, I also prefer Animated, at least at the moment.
Prime Soundwave is my favorite character in the entire franchise, so I can vouch for this.
From what I can tell, the War for Cybertron inspired look for Megatron's final form was based on a scrapped idea for a new body to continue the Aligned continuity rather than a new toy.
I love that the canister of Mood Slime is drawn just like a mutagen container from TMNT

I love how this comic got Optimus's sense of humor, reminds me of my favorite line in the G1 episode "Prime Target", "Amazing, A Booby Trap That Actually Catches Boobies", never stops bringing a smile to my face. Also missed crossover opportunity, Soundwave with Ray Parker Jr, come on!

The Design that Megatron takes on after being expelled from Ectotron was actually from a Transformers MMO/moba title called "Transformers Universe" which took place between Fall of Cybertron and the show Transformers Prime. The game was unfortunately scrapped, but it did have a beta and people were able to record videos about it before the game's cancellation. If you're ever curious, I highly recommend checking it out.

Definitely Bayverse. It's continuity is all over the place. The first couple movies have the Allspark as what created the Transformers. Then Age of Extinction implied it was the Quintessons, though to be fair you could theorize/argue they built the Allspark. And then Last Knight changed it, again, by foreshadowing Primus and Unicron. The writers couldn't make up their damn minds?!

Transformers has been killing it with the crossovers recently. Star Trek, Ghostbusters, Terminator, Back to the Future, and there's also been toys based on Top Gun and X-Men
And given the franchise is now owned by Hasbro, we could soon finally have a proper Power Rangers/Transformers crossover.
And Mazinger Z & My Little Pony.
Given they've had toys of this crossover in the past, we're still waiting for that Transformers/Star Wars crossover comic. :)

Re: being a Soundwave fan. In G1 continuity, Megatron leaves Soundwave in command on Cybertron when he goes after Prime in the first episode. Soundwave wins the war and rules Cybertron with an iron fist for *4 MILLION YEARS* before giving power back to Megatron.
As far as I can tell, Soundwave is maybe the most competent dictator in all of western fiction.
that's Cartoon!Shockwave; in almost every continuity he's in, soundwave is stuck to waxing megatron's bumper (excepting animated and cybertron)
in other G1s, the only thing he trust in more than megatron is the decepticon cause itself (he even deposes megatron in a couple of cases)
@@serPomiz -- 100% True. Soundwave is more loyal to the Decepticon cause than Megatron himself. And in continuities like Transformers Prime, Soundwave has also been recognized in-universe for being a better _Gladiator_ than Megatron was back in the Pits of Kayon days. What Soundwave IS NOT is a charismatic or ambitious leader. He can't START a revolution without a Megatron or Starscream to draw the crowds - but he can CERTAINLY rule the peace afterward.
This comic is a welcome breath of fresh air if only because of how FUN it is. Feels a bit like a kid's fanfic idea come to life and given some polish and, it works. Good job to everyone involved in making it.
Considering the ending, the crossover is definitely part of the main IDW Ghostbusters timeline, so Ectotron could appear in a future Ghostbusters event comic.

I’ve definitely seen lots of online fans who love to collect multiple versions of a same character, like a Mr Thew Adams and the huge amount of Skywarp toys.
For me it’s something I can respect but can’t get behind, especially when Transformers toylines already have an issue with repaints, retools, and remolds.
I’m still surprise that there has never been a true Transformers/Star Wars crossover.
Especially weird when you consider there have been transformers toys based of star wars ships such as Anakin's jedi fighter and Luke's snowspeeder.
I remember the DarthVader transforming in a TIE fighter from thatrelease, got sold out in less than a week and I still kick myself for not getting it...

Though if they took the reformed version of Megatron and had him team up with Artoo to lead a Droid Revolution while Optimus has hesitant feelings and talking it out with C-3PO, would be both fun and honestly insightful.

That exists. An off-shot of the Transformers prime toys was made entirly out of Translucent placti. I think they made 2 waves total.
2:04 - I'm rather impressed that the Ghostbusters were able to find a uniform for Optimus Prime in his size.
So, while this might sound like a 'aktually'... That isn't War for Cybertron Megatron... It's his canceled Transformers Universe form.

Edit: Oh, and I wouldn't even count it as an 'actually'... Because they're the same character. I... Think... That 'Aligned' attempted retcon they had really ended up anything but.
It also fits the lore of Ghostbusters; ghosts tend to keep their human form, but as they get more fucked up they become more monstrous. Megatron was just... becoming most ghosty.
The Aligned continuity is already a huge fustercluck of continuity errors and inconsistincies, so what's one more on top of that pile?

@@incitossol No kidding. The inconsistencies between the Cybertron games, Prime, and Robots in Disguise (Which is a continuity anomaly clusterbomb in its own right) are enough for their own list.
IDW & whoever they’ve been parterning with have for the most part been on a roll with this Collaborative crossover line & stories. Crossover stuff I’d like to see down the line for a comic/toy:
1. Toy of the Star Trek Transformer & comics for the Top Gun & X-Men Transformer toys.
2. A Beast Wars/MLP Transformer
3. Resurrecting the aborted JLA/Transformers that was drawn by Phil Jimenez. Toys could include Green Lantern Optimus Prime & Batmobile Transformer.
4. Doctor Who and TARDIS Transformer.
5. Power Rangers & unique Zord Transformers with the Rangers as Headmasters.
6. TMNT & Turtle Van Transformer
7. Knight Rider & KITT/KARR Transformer
8. A-Team & GMC Vandura Transformer
9. Stephen King’s Christine
10. The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine
Tmnt and mystery machine transformers collaboration.
Power Rangers and Transformers crossing over could be fun.
Something awesome to me about Christine being a murderous, unhinged Autobot Transformer who only speaks in classic music (a la movie Bumblebee).
I'm still somewhat bitter the "original" crossover transformers, the TansformersXStarWars ones never got a tie-in comic...
heck, even the reworked one from the TransformersXMarvel got a comic, and they don't even trasnform anymore!
Who should Sonic cross over with? His IDW series has been pretty solid so far.
Apparently that monstrous Megatron that appears after being forced out of Ectotron is his design for the short-lived Transformers Universe online game. That's a deep cut right there.
This is a fun comic. It's what got me into the IDW Ghostbusters comics since it's the same creative team. Well, from 2011 onwards at least.
Honestly it's amazing how as far as I'm aware, there's never a Ghostbusters crossover with Scooby-Doo.
I always hope that they utilize the behind the scenes connection created by the cartoon that Ray and Fred are related to each other, whether as Fred's Uncle Ray or if they're just cousins.

I mean this is AT4W. I wouldn’t have put it past Linkara the character to give robotic conciousness to the Ectotron toy and it simply “transformed” off camera.
I laughed so hard at the reveal that the first and foremost thing Starscream thinks could be able to single-handedly destroy his entire home planet... is himself! If Cybertron was fueled by this robot's hubris, the Transformers would never have need for a single sliver of Energon ever again!

Alternators (metal Transformers based on real vehicles) is a thing, and it’s made for adults. Or, at the very least, older audiences, so there’s our counterargument.
This is just a great bersion of these characters. Hopefully it gets a sequel.

This was fun, I kinda want him to cover all of the ghostbusters crossovers. Maybe make it part of the annual Halloween reviews, he alternates the franchises he covers every couple of years so it makes sense. My favorite IDW ghostbusters crossovers are the ones based on the various different versions of the ghostbuster. Especially the ones where they meet the 2016 reboot ghostbusters, they seem to understand how they are both similar and different from the originals and play with it in interesting ways.
Fun fact: Winston's actor, Ernie Hudson, voiced one of the BEST human companions in the franchise, Col. William Fowler from Transformers Prime.

And while Soundwave is always superior, speaking of Transformers Prime, I recommend checking that version of him out, if you haven't already. He may look completely different, but he's probably the scariest and most dangerous version of him

I just love how much fun this comic just have with the concept. It's right up my alley.
The ticket bit is actually based upon a deleted scene from I think the first movie, where Ecto-1 was supposed to be artificially intelligent & ends up freaking out cop who tries to give it a ticket! Ultimately, it was cut, but the concept works well in this crossover featuring a Transformer whose vehicle mode is Ecto-1!
Also, the ghost of Starscream also appeared in Beast Wars (somehow traveling into the past) & it was revealed that Starscream had a mutated indestructible spark which lead the Maximals development of Protoform X/Rampage who unfortunately ended up becoming a deranged cannibalistic serial killer who's spark was cut in half, with one half eventually used by Beast Wars Megatron to give life to a clone of Pedacon turned Maximal Dinobot (this came back to haunt him as Rampage's death resulted in the clone gaining Dinobot's personality assisting the Maximals in the final battle of the Beast Wars)!

I like the Curb Your Entusiasm theme for the narration of Cybertron's destruction. I also think the "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" theme would have also been perfect

The funny thing about the Starscream ghost thing is a few different incarnations bring it back in one form or another somehow. For example, in Energon after his death in Armada, he was resurrected, but they didn't have enough energon for the process so he wasn't fully revived, lacking a physical body and being a ghost basically. Even after he was later fully revived with an actual physical body he still retained some of his ghost-like powers, such as the ability to turn invisible, which allowed him to dodge attacks by disappearing and then reappearing behind people for sneak attacks.

Oh great, now he has the power to warp reality, so that he can kill gods, devils, and forms of entertainment that aren’t himself! You forgot to mention after Starscream was returned to life he was almost immediately executed by Galvatron and became a ghost again.
For what it's worth, I'm not surprised that Kremzeek is portrayed as a ghost. He behaves and sounds (repeating his own name in G1) an awful lot like a dual Ghost/Electric Ultra Beast (Interdimensional) Pokemon (David Wise created the first Pokemon, change my mind) sort of like Rotom.

I can understand that you’re a casual fan of Transformers, and I am too, I didn’t know the names of all Cybertronians; all I know are the main Transformers, such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, and so on.
Another Great episode Linkara. You should review the TF/Back to the Future crossover next once that series is done, since it's even more fun and off the wall then the Ghostbusters/TF crossover.
I really think it was cool how they decided to make a Transformers/Ghostbusters comic series and actually have the Decepticons become ghosts. I mean Starscream already became a ghost in season 3 of Transformers G1 however this is actually quite cool how all of the Decepticreeps are ghosts.
