- 60 years of doctor who is here. So here is a brief history lesson from 1963 till 1999. Yeah I might of missed stuff out but the important stuff is here, to be honest.
There no big finish that's too much and I don't have enough money to listen to every one of those stories.
if you're triggered by me calling the doctors pronouns they/them, maybe this isn't the video for you...
Video concept inspired by Bill Wurtz's, history of the entire world but it's my spin!
Previously named, the entire history of doctor who i guess... part one

Thank you for such an overwhelming happy response!
Part two is currently lost! (Just like missing episodes haha I wanna cry) My hard drive needs to be data recovered and I didn't back it up! Hence the delay... I'm saving up as we speak and if you want to help get it out quicker, I've linked my patreon and my Ko-Fi in my bio and on my page! Thank you and sorry for the delay.
(Edited)
This is just a lil fun video to show your friends to get them back into the show or even for yourself! Also, I edit a scene of Bessie the car to Charli XCX Vroom Vroom, so I'm sorry doctor who fans who are constantly on the internet getting angry if I said traken wrong in this goofy ass video, miss-spelt "Until" and said they/them too many times. Don't think this video is for you! xxx
But of course, thank you again for the nice and wonderful comments! Like and subscribe of course and stay along, there will be some more fun videos after these ones 😎💙
There were 2 Dr. Who movies made starring Peter Cushing. You haven't mentioned them. The first one ,Dr. Who And The Daleks gives the account of Dr. Who inventing the Tardis. Cushing has gray hair and is not a Time Lord. The second one has Dr. Who ( Cushing) encountering the Daleks in Dr. Who And The Daleks 2150. These should be included if you want a complete history..
@@wesleycook7687so, they were included initially with a reference to Bernard Cribbins! In the end I removed it... Maybe in the future I'll release a full length version with everything I removed!
Thank you for this. As a Pertwee initiant and who has an Whovian obsessed son (21) this was fabulous 👌🏻 👏🏻 ❤
An absolutely fantastic video. Started watching with the newest seasons (2000 and on) and have always wanted to go back to understand how we got here.. there isn't another video that I have seen that has been so concise and informative when it comes to this. With the recent announcements of doctor who it has sparked my interest to start watching again and this was exactly what I was looking for. These things take time and i'm honestly excited to see part 2. Love the style, love the jokes, keep it up!
THANKYOU. This was such a well done video. Really waiting for the part 2 ❤
I like how Daleks consistantly look the same throughout the series and the Cybermen are always 'upgrading'.
I never thought about that before but it's so interesting to think about, with daleks obsessed with 'purity' while cybermen seek 'progress.' Interesting, however, that the daleks consistently seem so much more powerful than the cybermen, even the far future cybermen who are so ridiculously dangerous that a single one is reason to blow up an entire planet.
Because Daleks are already in their purest form :)
Why would a master race change? Dalek race is superior to every other race in every reality at all points of time!
One of the things I like about the Cybermen is that they don't really have a single origin. There keeps seeming to be other people inventing them.
Why would the Daleks change? They don’t need to upgrade perfection, after all.
One of the coolest facts about Doctor Who is that it's still going because of its fans.
As in, the fans who grew up with the show are now _actually_ in charge of it and even brought it back on air after cancellation.
Some became writers, some became directors, and some even got to play that amazing character they always dreamed to be.
And they're doing an amazing job (not all of them).
I'll be there for the 100th anniversary. And I think the Doctor will still be there too.
I think everyone is doing their vision. And I'm happy about it. I think Chibnall hate is tiring! But they all still keep the show on screen and we should be so thankful that it's lasted that long.
@@louisslegall Yes, I give a lot of credit to Chibnall for preventing the show from being cancelled again in the last years.
The figures were going bad but he managed to find a plan that satisfied the BBC and so now we can enjoy more Doctor Who thanks to him.
I absolutely loved the 60th anniversary specials, ill be 52 when the 100th anniversary comes and i think it'll still be going strong , god knows what version of the doctor it will be.

The Third Doctor really was one of the more powerful incarnations, as he said, he regenerated so hard he made the show in COLOR, as well as having the almighty Sarah Jane Smith (and how can we forget about Bessie and Jo?)
God, I love him and his era!!! The vibes were immaculate and some of the shows best stories and concepts! Hell they came up with the parallel earth long before Tennant's era!!! What a powerhouse Jon Pertwee was 😁
Physically as well, every other episode he defeats the villain by just beating the shit out of them
One time he even wore a maid disguise and looked amazing in it.

as an younger fan that started with the rerun, thank you for boiling all of old who down so that i understand old references and have basic knowledge so i’m not considered a ‘fake fan.’ thank you!! this looks amazing, and it’s so needed!! :D
First things first, you're NOT a fake fan whatsoever! Whoever tells you that because you only watched the new era is a fake fan themself! As long as you love the show in any form you're a fan!! 💙 Even I haven't finished classic who and mainly read about it all especially with missing episodes! I'm happy I've helped you! Also, I also started with 2005 and got into the classics in 2018! There's always time for our big alien show!
i always miss episodes because i watch classic who on live television
@@WorshipHunglabungla55 if you’re watching on the Roku Doctor Who channel, somethings been screwy the last couple of weeks. they’ve been skipping around with stories and Doctor eras so you missing some episodes might be partially because of that. I’m still trying to trying to take in all of the first, second, and third doctors’ episodes and they are NOT making it easy, lol!
@@InAHollowTree i use pluto tv
You're not a fake fan if you're only a fan of the new series, it's fine to prefer any era, but if you really like it than I do recommend the old show too. I didn't like it initially but over time it grew on me and Patrick Troughton even surpassed Matt Smith as my favorite Doctor.
I'm so glad that big finish gave colin and his incarnation the regeneration story they deserved.
Least he deserves after the way the BBC treated him 😔
The Doctor getting immediately gunned down in San Francisco is the most American thing I've ever seen and I love it
Doctor Who plot lines: when in doubt, Dalek.

7:27 wait, are you telling us the doctor HAS used the sonic screwdriver to unscrew screws?
The doctor: I miss gallifrey..
The tardis: Do I look like a joke to you?
Isn't Gallifrey time-locked so he can't go back? Or is that just the time war?
@@the.real.mothman. 13 literally went back and regenerated on gallifrey lol. So no. I think the time war is tho. But everything before and after isn't

The Doctor now: Do you want to travel with me? I can't promise you'll be safe, but it's the adventure of a lifetime! It's your choice.
The First Doctor: I can't let you out of the Tardis because I don't know how to get back to your own time. Only Rassilon knows when you'll get off. Deal with it.
This is amazing! I'm so glad you mentioned the Virgin Publishing books. Tbh I'd describe the VNAs as: 'that time Doctor Who got super edgy and Ace canonically called the Doctor a "little shit"'. And it was also when for some reason, they wanted to put loads of HP Lovecraft and eldritch lore into the Who universe.
Also on another note, the Eighth Doctor Adventure novels were the first time we had some major queer representation in Who. It was the first time the Doctor has seriously considered their gender identity and numerous companions were LGBTQ+. Also in one book Eight canonically has a boyfriend who he lives with.
Which is the book where The Doctor has a bf?
The books are important to the wilderness years!!! Thank you very much!! I like how they went all out for the books!
@@grfgtbhh34 "Year of the Intelligent Tigers," by Kate Orman.
@@louisslegall The books are WILD! They're definitely a mixed bag when it comes to quality, but they can be so much fun!
@@louisslegall They really are important to the whole franchise imo. There's a lot of stuff that filtered its way up into the show when it returned, beyond just stuff like adapting 'Human Nature' (also when we first saw the Doctor being called the oncoming storm, in Love and War). I also feel like the 8th Doctor comics in Doctor Who Magazine, particularly with Izzy, set out the dynamic that was explored more when the show came back.
I honestly have a feeling that Whitaker's tenure on the show will end up being regarded by fans similarly to Mcgann's. "Too short, deserved better, please give her more stories in the future."
I can see this... I'm looking forward to some big finish if possible? But they haven't even done much 12th doctor audios 😞 But I get you! I'm looking forward to talking about her era in the next part 😁
what im learning is tom baker fans are the classic who versions of david tennant fans 😭😭
As the Twelfth Doctor said "It's like a treadmill"
this is a great piece of work with some hilarious moments throughout - especially when it reached the K9 and Co theme tune 🤣
I started Doctor Who with the 9th Doctor, so it was sooo much fun to learn about all the previous ones! Thanks to you, now I have a strong urge to rewatch the show. Can't wait for the part 2!
I started the show with the 9th doctor and finished it today, currently looking for inspirations to start the classic run
I can't believe how far back some of the baddies go! I thought the autoton mannequin people were a very early 2000's idea but they're from the 70's! Great video, very funny & well-edited. Can't wait for part 2 thanks!
Aww, missed an opportunity for a good joke near the end.

the doctor who to hyperpop pipeline is real...?
I'd love to see you summarize new who (2005-current) like this.
Jamie is absolutely the second Doctor's boyfriend
😄The perfect primer for the 'Nu Who' fans that want to see what all the fuss is about from those of us who watched classic Doctor Who. Thank you for the pronouns used for the Gallifreyan we all love... 😊
This video is so damn good. I've never seen the olden episodes but I feel maybe I should now. Especially the second doctor. He seems extremely cool.
Can't wait for the part 2 mate!
i've never watched doctor who save for a weeping angels episode that I saw when I was a child and which terrified me for years, but I've been wanting to get into it recently but was intimidated by all the lore, as well as the length of the show and the difference between the seasons and the series. tysm for this video i'm defs gonna start watching doctor who now, and I LOVED the editing esp the additions of vroom vroom and gimme more lol. can't wait for part 2 !!
if you're planning on watching the show, a good idea would be to start on the 2005- series, then after that to watch the original series, even though it makes the timeline a little messy. Newwho (as 2005- is called) explains the basic lore pretty fast.
@@the.real.mothman. TYSMMM I’ll do that !!

This is bloody brilliant. Well done Louis. ❤
as someone who does not have the time to watch all of the old series, i thank you for this. sincerely, a new doctor who fan
this was so well done & the vibes were incredible!! dying for part 2!!
I love the theory that first doctor's adventure on screen was in stone age of Skaro
my dad walked in the room when I was watching this, chuckled twice and left the room
In regards to the intro I have to admit watching the master dancing to rasputin did make me ask "how did we get here"
To be fair you cut out all the jokes...
Well, the 12th doesn't come along for a while, but for a thumbnail history of Classic Who you did very well. It's really hard to cover the wilderness years and you still checked the high points. It's easy to get bogged down in all the fan productions and semi-official (but not really) movies made straight to video, the novels, audios, cartoons, etc. from when the show was off the air. The well of DW is very deep, and the wider you focus your lens it seems nearly bottomless.
The wilderness years are so bottomless in the end because of all that creativity in those years we got the show we have today! 😎 Also, that 12th doctor scene might or might not be in the next part 👀
That 12th Doctor line made me laugh so hard 😂
What a great video, laughed throughout. Can’t wait for part 2
Dr who-ever you are was brilliant
my 10yo niece has just given herself nightmares by insisting on bingeing 4 whole episodes of doctor who (Donna's first two and then Rose's first two) after managing to never see the show before (all adults in her life regularly debate who is the best dr or trek captain). She has been put on hiatus for a little while but I'm going to show her this video and give her an Eleven's sonic while she waits. Most succinct dr who history vid I've seen.
I love this video, I knew everything about classic who but you told it in such a fun way and I love it so much keep up the great work 👍
Thank you so so much!! 🥺
UA-cam style editing and sound work gives me a headache, goes against everything I was trained for as a professional editor! BUT. The information and timeline and show info is fascinating. Well done, clearly research was done.
That makes me giggle... Thank you for watching!! Yes it's very jumpy/cutty I wanted to keep the attention of the viewer can only apologize for the headache 😁 Thank you very much for your kind words!
I haven't watched any Doctor Who in some time and this video randomly got recommended to me, nonetheless I enjoyed every second of it! Not only was the story itself interesting but your editing style kept me entertained and I let out a lot of laughs. Excited so see what you'll cover in part 2!
Much thanks for explaining the lost episodes! Searching around the internet for clips of fractions of those stories wouldve been too tedious
I like the idea that the 6th doctor lasted a really long time between ToaTL and his regeneration since we dont properly see his face, so we can have Current Old Colin Baker back for multidoctor specials
"The Doctor is an alien who travels through time and space in his spaceship the Tardis."

side note - i'm so happy that you remained constant with referring to the time lords with gender neutral pronouns, it really makes for an immersive experience of an advanced age 🙏🙏
@@MattEngarding your tunnel vision is precisely the level of willful ignorance that would make the doctor sick, which you would know if you cared at all about the show, its otherworldly advanced age concepts and its focus on reaching beyond the boundaries of our shortcomings as a people. don't you remember when they punched a racist? no, you likely blocked it out for fear of feeling the bruise upon your own face.

This was an excellent recap! Thanks! Also, it’s really great that you put in an effort to properly gender the Doctor. I really think it’s okay to refer to a single Doctor as “he” or “she” since individual Doctors, even in the modern era, use “he” or “she” depending on the Doctor as opposed to “they.”
The video was meant to be classic and new so it's only fair to use they/them for the doctor! Thank you very much for noticing and appreciating and I totally agree with you 😊

@@jakethereacterandreviewer6595 right? i mean...wouldn't 13 look at you funny if you said they instead of she? i thought the whole point of gender is that it represents who you are now, not "well the doctor was he until he was she so now they're they in all circumstances even though 14 out of 15 are clearly fine with being referred to as men"
