- My Mk5 Supra is about to go 0-100 Real quick... Literally. With so many plans to increase the B58's power it's time to prep the engine to handle it all. Proper cooling is something many people choose to ignore when increasing their car's power, but they shouldn't! In today's video I will upgrade nearly every cooling part that my Supra comes with and explain to you guys why it's important.

At the same time the cooling system in these cars are very well made, same with 440/340 etc anything with a B58 the cooling system is great, every N54 owner wishes they had a cooling system like the B58’s. A downpipe and a tune and the car is more then capable to handle that type of power!!!, my bro has his 340i FBO full E85, it literally gets cooler when im going 90+mph versus going 60 mph, it’s insane I see it with my own eyes the meter going down, it’s really insane how good the cooling system is, not everyone has 4K just for a manifold not including anything else your going to need😂and most of these mods aren’t required until your pushing 600hp + but I know you, big turbo kit coming soon, it’s going to be hell👀😈
I agree, that manifold is be overkill for FBO.
Yup by the time you need this manifold, you'll have pi, full frame turbo, and upgraded trans.
I'll admit i havent watched a vid of yours in a bit and i come back and see you wrenching all this by yourself. Thats sick man, even if you got a bit of help thats cool to see you doin all this on your own (i wouldnt wanna do the intake manifold by myself either 😂)
I always tend to do smaller jobs, especially off camera. Big stuff, I shy away from because I simply don't have the time for trial and error.

V10 S85 is the best sounding though.
The one in the A90 was actually heavily redeveloped by Toyota, which is why with the exception of the manifolds the Supras can handle alot of power
@@chriscaine1776 no, the b58b30m0 is the original b58, 2014, they redesigned it in 2016 and renamed it the b58b30m1, in 2020 they switched to an internal exhaust manifold in the head, the b58b30c and the b58b30o1 are the toyota supra versions and both are the same as the b58b30m1. toyota developed nothing on the engine or transmission.

@@Mp-jw1qg the entire valve and cam assembly on the B58 thats in the A90 supra was reworked by toyota over the course of several years and made better power out the box, not to mention the pistons in the B58 that the A90 got were used toyota's manufacturing process instead of the process thats used in the rest of the B58 engines that BMW utilizes. It was argued for maybe 2 months at best way back when the A90 first released, and was put to bed rather quickly by guys like papadakis, as well as the team from TRD who did the development. Now the interior and suspension is all BMW development... also the ZF transmissions arent specific to BMW, and to prove to that point the ZF6H/ZF8H transmission that youre refering to, actually was the same trans being used by dodge they are the German equivalent to the Tremec transmissions out of the states. Cheap to make, fit everything, reliable in heavy use applications. They rode a fine line between shouldve just done it themselves, and makes sense they started with parts that already existed.

You overheat? I have a stock radiator but I have a 7.5inch intercooler. I've o ly gotten to 225 degrees idling in traffic, stays at about 200-210 when I'm getting on it. N54 e90 08
No I don’t overheat I have 5 inch intercooler, and I’m not pushing that much power.. I’ll be installing catted Dp’s soon since here in Georgia we have emissions..

I don't think it will take a lot longer for a larger heat exchanger to get heat soaked especially in hot ambient temperatures. The better option would be to put a chiller system on that takes cooling from the AC system to drop the intercooler reservoir temps ice cold.

I would recommend if cooling performance is your main goal to switch to a more water mix for your coolant. Where you live should not get below freezing. You can do 15% coolant 85% distilled water for engine and probably straight distilled water for the intercooler loop.
Does it cool more that way. I’m in texas
@@carmello000jp Yes 50 50 coolant has less thermal conductivity than straight water. water wetter performs better but has mixed reviews. max performance go straight water in non freezing areas.
Are you able to place the stock engine cover over the new manifold for that seamless look?
I need to stop procrastinating and install all of the cooling parts I spent all that money to my e46. Been seeing everybody and they mama do cooling upgrades so I think I’m just gonna bang it out soon.

So with the CSF manifold and port injectors you can make the car dual injection, right? It's in addition to the direct injectors, not replacing them?

You're adding 6 additional injectors, so 12 total. You're not replacing DI.
Same cooling as the M340i. Identical setup.
Those two side rads, do they sell a new, bigger inlet duct for somebody who will cut the rest of the little holes in the bumper? Almost looks restrictive how small that hole is and how big it could be. Thanks.

If you are not very ambitious, there is some ecu tune for b58 that makes 500hp with stock engine and exhaust.

How do you end up deleting the evap system. Interested in doing the same!
Are you able to pull the low pressure coolant cap after letting it sit for few hours after driving? I can’t do that on mine, coolant will just spray out, seems like there’s excessive pressure being built up when i let it sit when it’s hot.
If the engine is running then i can pull the cap no issue.

What’s the torque specs on the tb to intake mani?
How much effect would this have on a lightly modded B58? I know that it's typically used as a supporting mod for big turbos, but how does it do on a relatively stock car at adding power on the top end? I'm hoping to find a solution that gives power to redline and maybe allows me to rev it a bit higher, without delving into all the complications of a big turbo setup.
On a lightly modded b58 you honestly wouldn’t need any of these parts. Just the heat exchanger at most.

awesome review! seems like the rock guard for the heat exchanger doesn't cover a lot of surface area, maybe that's just me. is the thermal coating permanent?
I thought the same, but it's only covering the exposed area. The rest of protected by the bumper cover itself.
Not sure what you mean but permanent. But assuming you wanted to strip the color and go for another cover, you can.

Not sure if you’ve done the video but would you recommend a 440i as a first bmw? Would love to drive it a lot maybe even daily in but a bit hesitant
My M240i was my first BMW. In terms of powertrain, it's fantastic whether you go manual or automatic. If you do go manual though, look out for the 2nd gear synchros. Bad synchros can be identified with a crunching gear grind sound when shifting gears, despite the clutch being fully depressed. It's more noticable when shifting quickly and at high RPM, but will get worse with time.
In terms of chassis, it's a great daily. The steering is a bit numb and the sound is a bit lacking but it's a fantastic cruiser, even in 2-series form with the short wheelbase. It also packs a lot more room than you'd expect, especially the 4.

@@tickandslug I sold my 07 6 speed manual, new clutch, complete new OEM cooling system, rebuilt WPC treated turbos, every single gasket/O ring was replaced, engine had 105k miles on it, Injectors where index 11's, HPFP pump was newer replaced under warranty, the WPC treated turbos made a huuuge difference, sold it for $5,500 3 years ago, even at that price it was hard to sell, it was mint interior and put, today it would be worth $10k.

B58 gives me n54 vibes it’s just you can’t compare the two because one is connected to the zf8 speed which will keep the engine where it makes power. I wanna see a zf8 n54 together

Fueling and flow should be the main reason to get a manifold upgrade like this, not intake temps.

I'm in a BMW M240. The ZF8 starts slipping around 600WHP (it will hold it together for a while). I've been at 550whp for years now and haven't had a single hiccup (90,000 miles now). honestly anything above 550whp on pump gas become extremely cost prohibitive. for reference 550whp runs low 11's on the M240, and high 10's on the supra
The intake manifold is $6350 CAD. That is the cost of a set of 18" FORGED wheels from BCForged, wrapped in the best Michelins. Glad I'm staying stockish😅😆
My thought is an 340 Xdrive will be awesome. The supreme B58 engine is too easy to be tuned to be over-powerful for a RWD car.
Aftermarket parts are so ridiculously expensive now. Even long tube headers have doubled in price or more .
Can you install that manifold without tuning? I’m assuming yes because flow rates with be different but curious if it’s that far off.

Why would you buy a $4,300 intake manifold if your not going to be making 800+ hp. I still wouldn’t buy this. Maybe repaint your manifold if looks is what you want

The OEM rockguard is much more effective to protect from stone damage as its covers the complete tubes, the aftermarket net doesn’t do this
The CSF guard is NOT ‚the better on‘ - actually the OEM is the better / more than effective one
Hey Christian, Nice intake manifold! Did it come with a plastic spacer to isolate it from the heat of the head?
It did not. I later found out that it was a separate purchase. I'll be adding it to the website later on today.

Yes it does but only if you don't equip the fuel rail

Most modern cars with direct injection have a rats nest. I always like raw engine bags with nice painted valve covers. I have a 2018 type r and I’m not going to touch a thing. It’s packed with wires going everywhere the bmw is even worse
Bmw switched to green coolant in all 2018 and up cars.

Intake manifold made from aluminum, will get heat from the engine , bad usage of material but great design 👍

Yeah the manifold is 4300 but it’s also literally already setup to run meth/nitrous and has a built in port injection kit lmao what do the complainers want it to cost?😂 let alone how thick the internal bricks are in there, this is a product for the boys and girls that are trying to make big power not the people that are only doing a tune and flex fuel, I’ve already got this budgeted in for when I get a Supra because mine is going to get everything and the kitchen sink thrown into it all at once lmao
