You need to always dyno your car in the gear that has the closest 1:1 ratio. In 5 speeds, that's generally 3rd gear, in 6 speed that's generally 5th in the ZF 8 Speed, that's 6th gear, hence why you made more POWA BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY :)

I really think that depends on the dyno and how much information about the vehicle you are willing to input. For example back in college I took the course for Dynotuning and we had a all wheel drive linked Superflow dyno. If had the ignition pickup, entered the tire size, rear diff ratio, and transmission gear ratio then it had no effect on the power graph line. The issue would be that the dyno would have poor resolution if it spun up too quickly and we would have to apply a load to the dyno to counteract that. We tested the theory on a few manual cars in multiple gears and didn't really seem have more then deviation of 1-4 hp between gears in a car with around 300hp which really isn't much of a deviation. Our biggest concern was how fast the rollers were spinning. Even though the dyno was rated for like 180-200mph we never really liked to spin it over 130-140 if it wasn't needed. The only car we really ran up near the limit of the dyno was a preproduction viper which between 160-170mph. I want to lean closer to 170mph, but that was 10 years ago. We just didn't want a tire blowout at those speeds in a class.
@@TranceFur A lot can go into that. 5th is almost always overdrive, but I know in my NA and NB miata when I had them they still spun around 3500-4000rpm in overdrive at 80mph. That was due to 2 factors. The tiny tire size and the fact that the NA miata had a 4.3 rear gear and the NB miata had a 3.9 rear gear.

What an amazing car bro. I ordered a 2024 GR supra from Toyota last year but was told another 1 year wait. I ended up with a BMW M240i instead with the B58 platform. hoping I can make these numbers after warranty is up.
Absolutely it should... I'm stage 2: DME tuned, FBO, on 93 and literally getting 500whp. 0-60 with light wheel spin it shaves 3 tenths, closer to 3.59 secs
The B58 is an amazing engine, well, the big Daddy N54 made it into this. Everyone still talks about the 2Jz, but they forget history. the first straight 6 was made in 1933 by BMW, and they continued making those until today. Also German makers ehem, Toyota and Nissan have had Collabs with the since the 70s. So. Yeah, the B58 is a good engine and for sure tunable af.
Launch in 2nd like some others have mentioned. The 8 speed gearing is so close and power is so good that you’ll have quicker times. Is this your new favorite BMW??? 😂😂
If i recall the 6th gear on these cars is the 1:1 gear, and is the gear youd want to dyno in anyways. Any other gear will have more parasitic loss and reduce your power readings
After watching your vid, I decided to calculate some numbers with the B58 in comparison to the EA888, specifically in the MK7/7.5 GTI with the IS20 factory turbo. Reason why I chose the EA888 is because, well, I am curious at the comparison as I own a MK7 GTI, but also the EA888 is considered one of the best, if not the best, 4cyl-T motors in the market today, when it comes to power numbers when modified. I figured out both the B58 and the EA888's average baseline (stock) dyno numbers, the B58 and EA888's average Stage 2 numbers, and what these numbers indicated. I will mention that both engines Stage 2 dyno numbers are used with aftermarket parts, including an aftermarket downpipe, intake, and exhaust. B58 (93oct) -- Stock -- 345whp/400tq (413 crank hp/400tq) -- Stage 2 Tune -- 415whp/490tq (494 crank hp/490tq) **This is a +70whp/90tq (81 crank hp/90tq) increase over stock EA888 (91oct) (IS20 Turbo on GTI) -- Stock -- 220whp/270tq (256 crank hp/270tq) -- Stage 2 Tune -- 310whp/310tq (356 crank hp/3010tq) **This is a +90whp/40tq (100 crank hp/40tq) increase over stock What I find very interesting is the numbers given the B58 is an inline-6 engine and the EA888 is a 4cyl engine. The EA888 gains more hp from a Stage 2 tune over the B58, but the B58 gains more torque over the EA888. This makes sense for the B58 to gain more torque because it not only has a bigger turbo from the factory than the EA888 IS20, but it also has a bigger engine and is using a higher octane of gas. For the EA888 to gain more hp just shows you how amazing its engine is! And I'm sure if there was more data on the EA888 using 93oct gas (most use 91oct), then its hp numbers would even be higher, and its torque numbers would be a closer match to the B58's. I don't know exactly what the specs are of the B58's stock turbo, but I do know its twin scroll, and the IS20 on the EA888 on the GTI (nor the IS38 on the Golf R) isn't. I would imagine the Golf R's IS38 turbo is a closer match spec wise to the B58's stock turbo, and we now the IS38 puts out even larger numbers stock vs. Stage 2 over the GTI. The B58 is definitely the better engine. Its a lot stronger, and can withstand a lot more power without rebuilding it, but I still am pretty astonished at how potent the EA888 engine is. It really is a "sleeper" engine, even though many people know what the MK7/7.5 GTI and Golf R are about after so many people have been gapped by them lol. The B58 will still gap pretty much every MK7/7.5 GTI/R mod vs. mod, but I have to give credit where credit is due, and the EA888 is a BEAST for it being a 4-banger turbo car!
@@memo-bt2us and the Supra looks like a Tonka Toy, especially with all of its fake vents lol. And your gen Mustang is one of the ugliest Mustangs ever made, and it’s interior is the worst interior probably ever made. But that’s all besides the point here bud. Try to keep up…
Theres a couple of things with these assumptions. Its a lot harder to go from 300-400hp than it is to go from 200-300. Plus peak figures dont show the power/torque curve. Power and torque under the curve show far more of the story than the peak power. The B58 will be full boost on stock turbo from 2500 and essentially hold peak torque from a much lower rpm. Drivability wise, this makes the comparsion pointess as even if they had the same power, because of torque / displacement, the b58 would be faster everywhere. Then there's engine smoothness, sound. Theres a lot more to it than simple peak number comparison. EA888 is good for a 4cyl, but not really comparable.

Just a suggestion, when you show a dyno chart, let the camera sit on the full chart for about 10 seconds so people can look at it. The dyno curve tells more about the setup than peak numbers.
From what I've seen most say u just do regular maintenance on them and they'll run just fine. Its partially a keep an eye on what gen B58 u get cause 1st gen B58s had coolant issues which was fixed for the later gens, one of the variants of the newer gen B58s has oil issues which they drink oil well over the normal amount which is sort of skewed since some found ways around it or are still having the issue come up even after they had dealers look into them. (Again this is specifically for some of the morw modern gen B58s not really thw oil). People say they're good dailies and even some with just a tune and dp pass over 100k+ with basic maintenance that any car needs by that time as long as it's keep up to date with everything they run just fine.
Any tune does reduce the lifespan of a car. But it’s also a BMW engine perfected to Toyotas Standard. It’s pretty reliable in the long run; but if you want to make it last longer, leave everything stock. Only modify the exterior.

I recently bought an X3 with the B58. It's something.
Great numbers out that car I would be very happy with that! I have 2020 X3M and you're beating that. That motor is sooooo impressive!
Are you just stomping on the throttle or are you modulating the throttle?
Launch in 2nd like some others have mentioned. The 8 speed gearing is so close and power is so good that you’ll have quicker times. Is this your new favorite BMW??? 😂😂
If i recall the 6th gear on these cars is the 1:1 gear, and is the gear youd want to dyno in anyways. Any other gear will have more parasitic loss and reduce your power readings
Bro needs to upload more he be dropping HEAT
Im going to send my ecu out soon and go with mhd. cant wait! Great video!
Just sent mine out a week ago. Can’t wait to get it back. I like the power that JB4 gives me but I need more… haha
I flew out with my ECU to Femto and got to see Finland what a awesome country
what else you done since? hopoe the supra been awesome!

So this and the m550i are tuning monsters
B58 (93oct)
-- Stock
-- 345whp/400tq (413 crank hp/400tq)
-- Stage 2 Tune
-- 415whp/490tq (494 crank hp/490tq)
**This is a +70whp/90tq (81 crank hp/90tq) increase over stock
EA888 (91oct) (IS20 Turbo on GTI)
-- Stock
-- 220whp/270tq (256 crank hp/270tq)
-- Stage 2 Tune
-- 310whp/310tq (356 crank hp/3010tq)
**This is a +90whp/40tq (100 crank hp/40tq) increase over stock
What I find very interesting is the numbers given the B58 is an inline-6 engine and the EA888 is a 4cyl engine.
But it looks like an egg
@@memo-bt2us 💀 bro just dropped all this research and game. Don’t be corny man.
EA888 is good for a 4cyl, but not really comparable.
k20 would like to have a word with u
Also don't turn traction control off just put it in sport and stamp on the brake and throttle

Why is the engine light on? Wouldn’t the tune be able to turn the of unnecessary engine codes?
Your car will pull timing over 116f IATs. So many degrees of timing for every couple degrees over that 116f.
Not true with E85 mix. I pulled zero timing on all cylinders. For the 93 Oct tune, I did pull timing when running on high IATs
@Vehicle Virals I suppose you're not on a oe tune at all.
Should have compared 60-130 times instead for a better metric. Unless you have radials on the car you will just break traction every time....
The stock launch control is crap in this car. Just had a Pure 800 installed and retuned in my SUPRA.My guy actually put a launch control in my tune. Works amazing. Just like a stall speed. Brake torque, build boost. And mash the metal.
I’ve owned my mk4 Supra for many years. And since the A90 launched I’ve defended it as a true successor to the mk4. The B58 in my opinion is also better than the JZ as well. The hate for the BMW partnership never made any sense to me. BMW has been a top performance brand for a long time. Love the new Supra and the new engine. A true successor for sure 🤌. R888 has a super stiff side wall and spin a lot. Mickey Thompson ET Street is where it’s at 👌
My biggest concern with the bmw partnership was the reliability. So far the b58 seems to be holding up really well though and it's a beast of an engine
why would ship the ecu when they is lot of tools that can unlock ecu??
At the moment Femto is the only company unlocking them.
So close to holding to the 1/8, that will tell us way more than 0-60 on a rwd
No hates, but you should have tried with drag pack at least. Stock 21+ supra can run mid 3sec 0-60mph. The quickest i have done when i was stock on nitto nt555r2 was 3.41sec.
Hey VV great video definitely gonna grab a Dragy. Where’s that E85 Racetrac located? I only know about the Sunoco’s on Colonial and the other at Lee Rd. It’d be great to hit up another station. Thanks 😊
Great channel!!! Btw...is that engine sound coming thru the car speakers??
No, not with this car
I previously had a m240 if you are looking for a full e85 tune port injection on the stock gen 2 fuel pump can get you close to 600 wheel on straight E with the mods you have as well.
Very cool video! Just wondering why the engine light is on?
Downpipes
Hey on the streets try launching in 2nd gear, im x drive and as soon as it gets cold i spin all 4 launching in 2nd it hooks so good
It seems oem car owners in the US always claim oem engine bhp, but at the wheels?
If this was the case, there wouldn’t need to be correction factor?!?
The wheel figure should be around 15% LESS than crank figure, not the same.
What am I missing here?
Would this ecu mod reduce the car lifespan?
What would a 2022 supra with downpipe and MHD stage 2 make in power on pump fuel? 430-440?
Can you tell me more about the company that unlocked the ECU?
We offer the service as the middle man. Check the link in the description
Sounds just like an R34 GTR. This inline 6 is boss!
Why is there a check engine light immediately after tuning?
I use water methanol on my e92 and it cools IA temps over 40 degrees during a hit.
Can someone explain to me how do you tune your own vehicle ? Is it some electronic device you have to buy and plug into your car?
Technology has made it. It's as simple as buying an adapter and a tuning licence and following directions. Some cars require a DME first however.
What wheels are they? Couldn’t hear properly.
I make 443 hp with downpipe . M340i xdrive g20 and stock air filter and other . Soon upgrade csf but make more
Are you planning to get a custom e50 tune?
Almost 100whp from a stage 2 tune with supporting mods is always a good thing…
In terms of cost; how much did you spend to almost get 500whp??
$400 for tune and $300 for downpipe. That's all you really need.
If you don't mind, will you tell us how much the DME unlock cost in all in?
$1500 shipped
Do you know how to delete the check engine light with mhd? Mine came on when I installed the downpipe
I can’t wait to get the manual. So Im in Orlando this weekend with my 335i. Anything going on as far as meets? I missed u last time when I was working in Tampa.
TBH, Supra's been doing 3.7s and 3.8s stock. If you're going to do anything to void your warranty or change how your car drives, might as well go big or don't.
All he did was spin should be low 3 without spinning
What's with the CGI sprints? E.G. 6:34 etc ??
Just wondering why your check engine light on? I know you said is fetmo unlocked. Light caught my eye lol.
Why only testing 0-60? I see a lot of people doing this but I don’t get it. How good of a measurement of your top end is knowing 0-60? Interested in hearing your thoughts
I guess I’m wondering why not just measure 1/4 mile times? Do you only race till 60 in all your races?
Didn't have the runway available when I filmed this video to do 1/4 or 60-130. But since most manufacturese advertise 0-60 I figured I can do that.
@@VehicleVirals ahhh ok gotcha! I was just curious. I thought you just didn’t like 1/4 mile runs haha. Good luck with the build. New sub here

that engine light is bothering me. Either fix it or cover it with tape.
Or don't watch the video. That's another option.
how about 1/4 miles run ? probably high 11s ?
Just a suggestion, when you show a dyno chart, let the camera sit on the full chart for about 10 seconds so people can look at it.
The dyno curve tells more about the setup than peak numbers.
Or just pause the video

You are already moving quite a bit before the drag starts recording...
so the B58 is reliable BMW? Did u end up changing most of the plastic parts, to metal? Is this engine a good daily with no tunes maybe cosmetics?
From what I've seen most say u just do regular maintenance on them and they'll run just fine. Its partially a keep an eye on what gen B58 u get cause 1st gen B58s had coolant issues which was fixed for the later gens, one of the variants of the newer gen B58s has oil issues which they drink oil well over the normal amount which is sort of skewed since some found ways around it or are still having the issue come up even after they had dealers look into them. (Again this is specifically for some of the morw modern gen B58s not really thw oil). People say they're good dailies and even some with just a tune and dp pass over 100k+ with basic maintenance that any car needs by that time as long as it's keep up to date with everything they run just fine.
why check engine light on?
Your traction control need to be in the middle setting for launch control
I did that.
What wheels are those? TE37? Or... ?
Is the CEL on because of the downpipe?
So I'm confused. What engine mods did you do to the car besides the tune, just a downpipe?
Downpipe and all the CSF cooling upgrades available
@@VehicleVirals can I call you tomorrow? I have some questions for my setup and what you recommend buying off your website to get started.

Very bmw inside, not a complaint , just an observation, steering wheel looks directly taken as does ac controls and infotainment controls
What data logger are you using?
Does the check engine light goes away after ?
It might be because of the down pipes
I thought MHD can remove the CEL
What gear are you testing at? 5th?
My friend on a90 dual port e85 tune made 513whp and 646wtq..
Why are you dont go straight to stage 2+ when you have tu pump ? It will be much better.
The car is essentially straight piped with the valves open
It's a 21, already has the TU pump
Great video 👏👏🙌
Is this type of tune safe for the car’s engine?
Any tune does reduce the lifespan of a car. But it’s also a BMW engine perfected to Toyotas Standard.
It’s pretty reliable in the long run; but if you want to make it last longer, leave everything stock. Only modify the exterior.
Yessir!! Just got my universal joint today! Thank you sir! Now I am having an issue connecting to Bimmercode. I'm sure I can figure it out but just wanted to know if you guys had this issue as well? Keep that content coming. 💪🏾🔥💪🏾🔥💪🏾🔥

Curious as to how that's wheel HP and not crank HP. It's not a hub dyno....
The wheels are spinning on the roller. How would it be measuring at the crank? 😮💨
@@VehicleVirals correct I fckud up 🤦♂️
60-130 times on 93 tune vs e40??
So you got the CSF super manifold and running ethanol and only 480whp..? 480 on E40 ots?
E30 jb4 piggyback tune pushes 490-495whp.
ots E50 with ecutek is about 520whp 600tq with no other mods.. you should be pushing like 540 ish to the wheel with the extra fueling from the super manifold.
With your setup you should be at around 690whp once you go bigger turbo. Assuming you go pure800 or pure850.
Pure turbos are stock frame turbos. They are not 'big' in the 'big turbo' sense.
@@zackkitzmiller regardless his initial numbers are terrible so if he going big boost he should switch platforms is all I'm saying.
