There was a tour back when called Tattoo the Earth. Craziest show. It was in Mercedes TX and there was mud everywhere.the crowd was throwing mud at all the opening bands except two. Slipknot and you guessed it. Slayer.

I remember when I was at a show, and SOTD got told to STFU and bring out SLAYER at the Birch Hill Club in NJ.

Morgan explains it so well, years ago I was with a friend home, we were eating and suddenly while eating I just had a random wave of anxiety over me, and I had to go to the balcony outside and had to sit down, I remembered that all colors became very intense / vibrant, even the blue sky was too intens, it was like my brain was having a random error, it was very scary, couldn't talk because of the scare, it's like also my point of vision went narrow, like a tunnel. I don't know it's the same but it was the worst experience. To this day I couldn't explain it to that friend, probably thought I was crazy.

Burton C Bell, has put out some of Fear Factorys best work, one of the best Metal bands on Earth, but Burt has been my biggest turn off on newer Fear Factory stuff, you can hear a forced in sub par choruses, odd out of key, or just not quite his usual best, and you know Dino, probably wanted something more polished, and songs that aren't as good are a sign if inter turmoil in a band, people get to a point where, its like im not changing it, and its going into the song, just to butt heads with Dino, even KNOWING he's was probably right, based on past quality of their material, my band always used majority rules, if something was too similar to another of our songs, or another bands songs , or it was just filler, we pulled it, and worked on it until it was stand out, and you can tell when fans go batshit over our new material, because its different, and interesting, and Polished, ran through the filters we used to say, another band rule we had we borrowed from Dimebag Darrell " its gots ta jam!"!truer words were never spoken, if it doesn't jam, you ain't done until it absolutely does! BlackTooth RIP Dime!

I think Burt wants to explore his clean vocals which are Stellar, but El Captain Dino, wanted to keep Fear Factory, hard, heavy and fast, Dino gave Burt alot of creative rope, but the newer Fear Factory you can tell Burt was pushing hard to make the songs more epic, and melodic ballads, abd and some are excellent, but the newer stuff seemed like Burt was forcing in clean parts that didn't have Obsolete type hooks, and Dino being quality control was eventually like dude, thats not Fear Factory, save that for a side project Burt. Then you see the singer join an even more extreme band, like ill show you, but they are better together, its tough to keep new songs fresh.Good luck Dino on future endeavors, you do you, it will end up great, always has!!!!

I met Dino though Gorgeous George, she is a good friend of my ex wife, we known Steph forever, im in the shower, my wife busts in, and hands me the phone, its Gorgeous George, she's like "Dave, im at Rob Zombies House, and Dino, Rob Flynn and Glen Danzig were there with her and Doyle Frankenstein from the misfits, when they were a couple, she knew i was a die hard Dino Fan so she's like hold on, and puts Dino on the phone, i wasn't trying to give him a phone BJ but probably did anyway😂, he was telling me about his new band with Tim Yueng one of Earths fastest drummers (before Divine Heresys failed creation album) and just like when I met him later at the show, he was super kind respectful, and in no rush to get off the phone, i actually let him go, i said not to be weird, but im in the shower😂 thanks for taking the time, Im a fan from FF soul of a new machine days, and know 95% of his guitar stuff, note for note, and even played live covers of FF, most can't play their stuff lol, amazing call, he actually remembers the call because what man can forget Georgous George (looks like Pam Anderson she was with Macho Man also, from Rockford ILLINOIS), i even opened for Devine Heresy,ba year later at Forest hills Lodge, Rockford ILLINOIS, and Dino could hear our originals, from the bus, and came right in front of me to watch, being the only guitarist, no pressure lol, we covered demanufture flawlessly and we 12 years,same guys ice cold live, which he said wasn't very common for opening bands, and we were actually talking to Dino, Tommy Vext,Tim Yueng and the bass player, (drummer and bassist were complete arrogant assholes), i told Tim Yueng you aren't that cool, i heard you fuck up several times, after he snubbed me lol, trying to follow Dinos cyborg Right hand, Dino was super cool, talk to us for a while, all at our merch booths in back.This is the equivalent of me getting to chat with James of Metallica, i am that big of a Fear Factory fan. Dino accidentally gave me the complement of a lifetime(other than coming off his bus to watch us), except for US covering Fear Factorys Demanufacture out of respect, the rest were my originals, and he said, what were those other bands you were covering? That was great, I told him they were our originals, and he looked like he didn't believe me, at first, he's like" really?!, sounded like several different bands" im like he liked our shit, but assumed we were covering other pro bands material, and it was all originals, never forget that, thanks again Dino! 100% true story 🎉

He's right about ppl drifting apart and changing and wanting to do their own things and all of that obviously, but then, tbph, a lot of his talk about "there's leaders & followers", "there's always one guy with a vision", "everybody cant be alpha males" is such conservative dinosaur nonsense, conventional caveman wisdom, dumb guy oversimplications of behavior, that he's either TRYING to offend the people who didnt wanna be in his band anymore or he's just the kind of guy where I wouldnt wanna be in his fucking band either. There are PLENTY of bands that are based on shared ownership and collaborative processes between members, not just one guy with a vision. There are plenty of bands where everyone doesnt need to just line up behind one dude who thinks he's the boss--even if technically they do control the business/ownership side. There are a lot of different situations that are much more collaborative, and it doesnt always work, but one guy who wants to be in charge of everything and still call it a "a band" rather than a solo project doesnt work just as often. Sometimes people "follow" bc they wanna get a steady paycheck without getting fired by a narcissist for trying to offer input. Sometimes people play and know their instrument and maybe dont know music theory or songwriting, so that's what they know and what they stick to; that doesnt make them a "follower" or a 'beta' or whatever dumb guys call it. A lot of ppl hate on the Faceless bc its mostly Michael Keene's personal project and there have been lineup shakeups; some people love the more diverse stuff he makes now and some ppl love the Zenith Passage made up mostly of former Faceless members instead. A lot of ppl hate on Slipknot for some of its lineup changes and derisively call it "the Corey & Clown show" bc theyre two of the ppl with the most control over the business side of the band--but they've also had 5 members for over 25 years who are still the collaborative heart of the group. Different things work for different bands, different projects. You dont need to have a caveman brain to write caveman riffs or to make and play music. Some of the greatest bands of all time have been co-equal collaborative efforts where everyone gets into a space together and works off of each other, and some of the most boneheaded decisions in music have come from one or two people thinking they're in charge of everything and not letting anyone tell them "hey Lars, the mixing on this albums sucks fucking balls."
