True most people don't understand how much the original lineup influenced contemporary music... It's really crazy really how something so influential could forever stay hidden from the public's eye
Mr. Garza, I’ve really been enjoying your podcasts lately, but this has to be the best. Dino was my guy back in the day when I started playing guitar. Everyone had their “guy” that they tried to emulate and learn from, mine was Dino. When I first heard Demanufacture, I was instantly hooked and immediately starting learning the entire album. I would get home from school and just play like Obsolete, for example, from start to finish. I learned every song. I might not have gotten as much into soloing and improv, but goddamn, thanks to Dino, I became one tight rhythm player, and my right arm turned into a machine gun. Fear Factory for me back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s was the band. I was obsessed with them. I will admit, I did kinda fall off a little and got into other music but always came back to records like Obsolete. Thank you Dino for all you’ve done and continue to do!
Me and Dino met after like a year of talking about gear and shit over Instagram. The fan boy was still there in me but it was so strange in a good way. I just walked up to him, he recognized me and we just started talking as if we had been friends for a really long time. We even went out and got Wendy’s lmfao. Dino’s been my idol for well over 15 years and I’m extremely privileged to be able to call him a friend. Good shit Garza! Love the podcast 💪🏻🥂
I just saw lamb of god in chicago and me and my buddy were there about 2 hours early and saw the bassist from lamb of god out side smoking. I got real close and stopped dead in my tracks when I saw him. He was just doing his thing, smoking and getting some air.
Met him way back in the day several times during the Demanufacture and Obsolete touring cycles and he was always appreciative of fans, super approachable and very down to earth. Looking forward to hearing what FF does next.
Great episode man. Dino has always been an innovator and FF deserves more credit. Even Devin Townsend mentioned in one of his podcast episodes that SOANM made him started SYL (but more extreme).
I won't lie... i have never seen this interviewer but he might be the best interviewer i've ever seen! I was just searching for the latest Dino Cazares interview and i found this! Great find 👌
@@sausagebuddy4323 Oh, i had no idea 😮 Of course i know the band and have listened their early material when Mitch was still alive. Haven't really listened them with their "new" vocalist much. R.I.P. Mitch.
Fear Factroy has been a part of my life since 2005. One of the very few uplifting metal acts that actually inspire and make you overcome whatever the crap one's going through with the aim at the better tomorrow. Thanks for this, podcast for being the rad metal nerd and asking good questions. And thanks to Fear Factory for tremendous music that we will listen to once the Judgement Day of 2029 comes)))
I met Dino one time when I was 15 after a show. He was so fucking cool to me. It helped craft my perspective on life. I still have the pick he gave me. Such a good dude.
I watched Fear Factory over 20 years ago for the first time and Dino stopped the gig at one point as someone threw a full bottle at Burton. Burton was going yo carry on but Dino said no, what happened was out of order and took that person down a peg or two. He stood up for Burton and went to bat for him. I won't ever forget that x
Dino seems to have a reputation for being hard to work with but the general consensus from any fan who has met him seems to be that he’s a super nice guy who always has time for his fans. In regards to being in a band with him, he clearly has a vision for his music and you’re either with him or you’re in his way. Seems to me that he just sets very high standards which I don’t see a problem with 💪🏻
Saw Fear Factory last weekend with Machine Head. Such a great show. So glad I got a chance to see them again. So much respect for Dino and his passion to keep this train in motion.
I'm just turning 44 when watching this. Dino is one of my major influences and Demanufacture is one of my fav records. I am thoroughly enjoying this interview, and love hearing about all the background and such. But I gotta say...I feel so old listening to Garza not recognize the Hush or what a dictaphone is...But also, it's fuckin hilarious to watch Garza totally go red every time Dino says anything cuz he's obviously a huge fan. Feels like we're all in your chair there Garza hahaha I'd be like THAT'S AWESOME!!! and have so many questions...like nerding out on studio info too. Just tricks and trades and shit...but yeah this is a great interview. It's like a 15 year old meeting his idol hahaha

Milo is delivering the goods on stage, and shutting down the haters. I still miss Raymond and Burton, and that lineup will always be the gold standard, but Dino is the heart and soul of FF
Listening to Dino talk about his approach to writing the songs and developing the essence that is Fear Factory is fascinating. Playing like a sample without being a sample, very cool way of coming about it. The most influential thing I ever took from fear factory was the synced up percussive guitar and double bass drum. Then add the melodic singing mixed with distorted vocal and you have their legacy right there. I still wish Button would be back, somehow in some way, whatever it takes but that sounds impossible after this interview.
Garza is a very good musician from a very good metal band..just found this podcast..this dude is proven in music so im gonna listen in the future...this was a very good episode!!
Machine Head is a really strange answer. In terms of melodic choruses in extreme metal, Fear Factory was one of the first. Machine Head never did it...
I’m not a massive huge fan of metal but FF, Faith No More are really the only bands I like. And it’s because of the intricate instruments, vocals, positive message in songs, etc
Although Dick Dale going hard up until his death might seem inspirational on the surface...he was actually forced to keep touring just to be able to pay his medical bills and performing was excruciatingly painful for him with all the medical issues he had....
I happen to land in the camp of everyone probably has a valid set of reasons for the things that went doen as we can't know everything and we can't be there. I won't demonise anyone or start being judgemental... We can't say so we have to be respectful and just leave them to it x
Always wondered where Deman'-era Fear Factory pulled their melodies from as I used to listen to the record when I first read Neuromancer as a teenager and it seemed like a perfect match.
It's funny Dino mentions the concert in your head bit, because I'm the SAME way, and have been since a teenager, most especially after becoming a FF fan. I'm a bass player, but think of guitar riffs and drum beats first, and make the same sounds. lol
I don't think FF new about Edge of Sanity nor did many of us back when FF were in their prime. So in that sense, they were the ones that started it I'm the US and influenced American metal. Killswitch made it mainstream tho and they seem to be influenced by the Gothenburg sound just as much as FF if not more.
