A Week in the Life of a Medieval Chateau: Thursday (In Which Marc Gets Cheeky With the Bird Boxes)

- Well. Yes, you guessed it. The one vlog a day thing was quite a challenge and we're now two days behind in getting them to you. The problem is that we have too much fun during the day with filming, then there's a few hours of playing with Clement, feeding him, bathing him and putting him to bed that we never miss, and then the editing starts around 8pm. This can take a good few hours, plus the two hours to render, upload and verify on UA-cam. Phew! The good news is that we're still having so much FUN doing them. We're so grateful to you for being patient with us and we hope that you enjoy this latest episode!
For just one week, we will be filming, editing and posting a vlog a day to show you what it is we get up to in a normal week at the medieval Chateau de Rosieres - our beast of a French castle and estate. From the remarkable to the mundane, follow the passage of our week exactly as it unfolds.
It's Thursday and a day of interesting little jobs to do with the auction purchases earlier in the week. Amy also takes you into the kitchen to show you the quiche recipe that we had sooooooo many questions about after Monday's episode! Clement is at home all day on a Thursday and was an absolute treasure all day, entertaining himself and joining in with our projects alternately. Marc would like to apologise for cutting his head off in half of his self-filming. OK he hasn't apologised - he claims it was deliberate. I will endeavour to educate him...

I got a real giggle from the birds coming in and out of frame at funny moments. The peacock 🦚 streaking by while we are fixing the table football and the chicken considering coming in the kitchen during the quiche prep. Etc. Love it! Ha ha. I’m learning so much from your channel and that, along with your genuine joie de vivre makes for excellent entertainment. Merci!
I really enjoy your show, your family, and home . Just a ray of absolute sunshine. ❣️
Ah that’s a lovely thing to say. Thank you!
Here! Here!
Life happens! Especially life with babies (and computers crashing)!
Thank-you so much for you blogs. Regardless of day posted, I think I speak for everyone, that they are amazing, calming, and so very enjoyable! Thank-you for sharing your life.
Ah I’m so glad. Thank you! X
Another lovely episode. Thank you for the quiche recipe, so simple and so delicious! Oh, dear Amy, grenadine warrior! I so remember those days, my youngest daughter knocked over a 1 kg bag of flour when she was two.......now she has her own baby daughter, Eve, who just turned one. Sadly they live in Australia and who knows if I can ever see them in person. With little ones, the days are long but the years are short. Your are a lovely, loving family and it’s delightful that you allow us into your life.
Oh Birgitt how tough not to see your granddaughter Eve. My mum feels the same. Thinking of you. Glad you’re enjoying the episodes!
All of the music is FANTASTIC!!
It’s all free from UA-cam! I have so much fun choosing it.
Really love your vlog and Marc’s dry humour is epic 😂. I hadn’t found any of the other Chateau vlogs even close to comparIng to Stephanie’s at Lalande until you guys came along! So, thank you! 🤸🌻💕
I totally agree.
Oh guys you’re so sweet - thank you!!! You made my evening. We’ve been one of the slowest to grow and we nearly gave up, but this week really gave us motivation to continue!
Nice video! Amy, you look more rested in this video than at the beginning of the week. Take care of yourself, don't over do it. Your quiche looked delicious. You have a very happy child. 😀
Thanks Nicole!
That tent idea is the best thing ever and a nice little hideaway too :)
Thanks Diane. It’s such a nice little space!
The introduction video to the vlogs always makes me feel happy.
Another nice video. Certainly worth the wait. it’s enjoyable spending time with you, Marc and Clement.
I’m really glad you enjoy it. Thank you x
Time to get a play pen for the baby...get him used to it and you can relax for the next few months because he is on his way to walking and more syrup stories!...Loved it..a classic
Mayhem! Solved. Crisis! Settled. Problem! Fixed. Just another day. Beautiful.
😂 you just about summed up our lives 😂
Thanks for all your hard work and sharing your lives...
Thanks Laurie!
Your family is wonderful, your videos are wonderful.....you cheer me up! The Chateau is beautiful and such a labour of love. You contribute sunshine to our world. God bless you all and Happy Easter!
That’s very high praise - thank you x
My wife and I have really enjoyed your videos. I especially like the cornet solo in the intro.
Thank you Lawrence and your wife! We’re so pleased. Have a lovely Easter x
Your vlogs always seem to make me relax, you guys are so much fun to watch and seem to enjoy the moments of life. Beautiful family! 💕🌞🌈
That’s lovely. I’m really glad it’s a positive thing. Have a peaceful Easter x
I just love watching you Both so funny and sunny and madly in love with each other :) ❤
Lovely lady, don't worry about loading a video every day. Your grenadine syrup adventure reminded me of some of our disasters - still remembered and laughed about even though they were decades ago! Just remember - it was syrup spread everywhere, not poo or vomit!
Ha ha - very good point Lisa!!!
This brought back to mind an episode of Dan the Gardner's vlog - he and his wife had just rounded up "escaped from their pen" runaway hogs and finally got them corralled & settled...relieved, they went inside only to be greeted by the sight of chocolate covered toddler boys and floor - my heart sank for them...their reaction was so calm and they just carried on to the next job of cleaning up. Life does happen - videos will be ready when they are meant to be. If yours is delayed, there are plenty of others to tune in to while we look forward to yours! I so admire all that you restoration/renovation families with small children are able to do - please take care of yourselves and keep on excellently loving your sweet, sweet children. Thank you for sharing "real life" with us.
Really enjoyable to watch and the editing is so good, love your intro and the “chapter frames”. Pat yourself on the back, really super quality vlogs! I’d say you have a lot of people addicted now and they will be craving more. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
Ah that’s a lovely thing to say Eva. I’m so glad you’re enjoying them!
🥰Amy, thank you SO much for giving us your quiche recipe!🥰 Happy Easter!💐🐇🐣
Ah you’re very welcome and a happy Easter to you too!
Well done Amy and Marc another brilliant and funny video.x
Thank you Claire!
I sure felt the pain with the red syrup and babies! He’s so sweet and you will be able to laugh about that experience for years!
🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Thankyou for the post today busy as usual, your quiche looks lovely yummy. Typical kiddies always have to put sand in their mouths so cute.
Clement in the sandbox, my heart 🥰 And the rooster and peacock saying hello to him. Really enjoyed this week of vlogs.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve enjoyed all your videos this week! I once dropped a huge jug of maple syrup on a concrete floor, right next to where my 2 dogs were standing, so your grenadine adventure made me laugh. 😁 And now I need to make a quiche because yours has made me so hungry! My mom watches every video as well. She says you’re both so down to earth that it’s very relaxing to watch. Looking forward to the next one.
Aw thank you Anna and say hello and thank you to your mum too!!!
Marc, please wear safety glasses! Loving your videos from Fort Langley / Vancouver, BC, Canada. Admire your hard work.
Please don’t set unrealistic video deliverable expectations for us. This is your life and it’s just a privilege for us to have a sneak peek. There was an article from the Guardian about two years ago about social media contributor burn out. Set your own expectations and change if they are unachievable. You are both clever people so not telling you something you don’t know but aim for the long game. Btw, love so many understated aspects of your product/clips, right down to the quirkiness, subtly and idiosyncratic style. Will watch no matter how often you post 🙏🏼🌷💖
Thank you - I love how caring our viewers are. We’re taking it easy don’t worry xxx
I love the humour you both share.
Thanks Ian! Some of it is unrepeatable and I’ve had to train Marc to behave a little more on camera 😂
Sue Hall
How maddening.
Love Sue ❤❤❤
Your response at the end cracked me up..... what a boy comment 🤣
Marc’s jokes are so subtle you almost miss them. You just have to look at Amy’s face! 😂 The quiche looks lovely, good enough to eat. 🧅🧀 Amy you really have put pressure on yourself to upload a vlog a day for a week... we understand if “life” gets in the way. Family comes first. But THANK YOU for sharing your lives. 👍🏻
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! X
“Pick you up in a taxi, honey.”🎶 Better be ready about half past eight.🎶. Envision Amy and Marc dancing the Peabody around the chateau! 💃🏻🕺🏻 Fun vlog with great idiosyncratic music.💗
Thanks so much for sharing your quiche recipe. I enjoy watching your posts.
I love the sense of being there with you in person your Vlogs produce. Some vlogs are so over done with fancy shots and camera angles that it is hard to feel a connection with them at all. Thank you for inviting me (and others) into your lives in a way we can feel that we are there with you. Keep up the great work.
Ah thank you my dear.
You three have such a splendid way of working together towards a common goal with laughter, love, and SUCCESS❤️👍😁Such a joy to be apart of!!! Love the daily chronicles!!! A lot of work for you but much appreciated!, Happy Easter ❤️
Ah thanks Katie! X
The quiche yum I'll give that a go and bake .poor amy the red syrup gives a scare at the time . You'd think the chicken was having a conversation with clement 😊
Your videos are wonderful, rustic and real, that’s the best way to vlog x
Thank you! X
Welcome back hope you rested up and feeling refreshed Marc is such a handyman love his humour look forward to the new fix it job😍the leek quiche so lovely deliciousness nice and puffed up with delicious filling sweet Clement so blessed to have a peacock entertaining while in the sandpit I just love your daily life my special time-out and treat highlight of the day❤️😍👏👏
Rested Brenda? RESTED? 😬. I think we’re pretty exhausted but we are still having a LOT of fun. So we’re not quitting yet. So glad you’re enjoying them!
@@Chroniclesofrosieres Love you both so real and down to earh❤️😍Oh I was meant to say dear Clement in the intro so cute in his wee jacket okaying the piano❤️😍👏👏
Another great vlog 😁 you've made me really fancy quiche, I have eggs , I have leeks, that's me sorted 👌 Clement is so so lucky to grow up in your beautiful chateau and surroundings xx
Go for it! Send us the picture!
Easter Sunday treat from Amy, Marc and Clement. Just delightful. 🐥🐇🌻. Cheers from 🇨🇦.
Thanks Margo!
"not rising to it" hysterical, and I love when the chickens come in to the kitchen, Nigella wouldn't be having any of that I bet but I'd like to think Julia Child would.
She would, wouldn’t she?!
Thankyou Both It is Lovely To Watching You All Happy Easter 🐣
Lovely video. The birdhouses are super. Thanks for sharing easy quiche recipe. 🇨🇦
Very impressed by the homegrown leeks, would love to see the vegetable garden sometime. Babies seem to get them selves into all sorts of mischief and somehow survive!
love your quiche recipe. it's my new go to. I have to search through your videos to find it when I want to make it
Just delightful., thank you for all your hard work.. ..The grenadine incident reminded me of similar happenings involving rather expensive foundation spread liberally in the bedroom of some accommodation we were holidaying in at the time😀 Glad the little one escaped unharmed.
Oh noooooo 🤦🏼♀️ I can just picture the moment!!!
I know I am bad... but a pic of Clement cover in Granadine would it be priceless.... Lovely Quiche!!
😂😂😂
I was so covered in sirop I couldn’t even pick up my phone!!!
I love watching you two roam around your lovely chateau property...the quiche looks delicious! Now I know what I'm cooking for dinner!
The ending! You two just made my day 🤣
🙈🙈🙈 I didn’t know whether to leave that in!
Great music selection with this video.
Oh thank goodness Amy! I never pre cook the pastry base either. Its always done too much around the edge for me. No soggy bottoms either. Enjoyed the vlog and Happy Easter to you all!
Happy Easter to you too Jenny! X
So sorry about the syrup fiasco. When my three babies each were young I always had them in a playpen. I had two. One in the kitchen and one in the living room. I could also put one outside like your tent. They played near me all day safe and even napped if they were tired. Kinda like a bunny pen. But for crawling babies to keep them out of danger when I cooked, cleaned and even when I needed to bathe. Playpens were wonderful.
Oh, I laughed so hard when the music started when Marc unloaded the football table 🤣 Love it, thank you!!!
I’m glad somebody appreciated that. I was laughing so much at it when I was editing that Marc came to see what was going on!!!
So great that you can keep calm during the big hickups and laugh at the little ones. Love you guys!
"Hoppy" Easter! 💜🐰💐🌻
Thank you Martha! A very ‘hoppy’ Easter to you too (love it - I’m stealing that one...)
LOVE your daily vlogs, I'm living vicariously through them with you! We are totally locked down for another month here in Ontario Canada. So stuck in my apartment, not allowed any outdoor excursions, except to walk some city paths. Your vlogs are a lifesaver.
Ah I’m so glad we’re giving you a bit of escapism. Bon courage !
Relieved that your sweet Clement wasn’t injured. We are so enjoying your families adventures in your amazing chateau.
Love your videos, humour, activities and the Birds :)
I do enjoy the banter between you two.
😊😊😊
You have so many photo bombers at the right time. Yet you keep right along paying no mind. We just chuckle.
It’s so funny - I don’t even notice them until I edit 😂
Thank you for sharing your week ~ it was such a lot of fun! Loved watching the quiche prep and cooking in this video. You could set up the camera fixed on a tripod on your kitchen table to take in a wider angle, which may make filming less of a juggling act with pan & spatula! It's going to be a beautiful kitchen ~ I noticed the wonderful stonework of the fireplace. If possible I would allocate the kitchen higher priority, as so often it really is the heart of the home and somewhere to take refuge from all the other demands and projects. So many well wishes x
We’re definitely going to get some more equipment if we get enough followers and can afford it!
I have no doubt that fortune is on your side.
I love following your journey, and the Chateau’s ups and downs! You have a lovely family, Happy Easter to you.🐣 Thank you for the authentic French Quiche recipe.
Thank you for watching! So glad you’re enjoying them!
Once again so enjoyable loving these Caroline xxx
Omg I’ve only ever used the white parts of leeks. I’ve been missing out!
I just feel like you two are living right next door! What great neighbours you would be!
That’s a lovely thing to say - thank you! X
I wish penguins could build their nests in ur birdhouses! Clement would love that!!
Wouldn’t he just?
I like the fact that you are all so natural! Nothing to hide! Well done to another enjoyable vlog!

Happy Easter 🐣🌞💐
Enjoyed. Great time watching. You did a great job filming.
I absolutely adore your family and all of your pets. The videos you put out are lovely.
Ah that’s very kind of you Caroline!
Mark don’t forget to wear your respirator when sanding
There’s no telling him 🤦🏼♀️
Love the honesty....too much work! Or.......do it yourself! Wonderful,
Ha ha - he’s cheeky isn’t he?
See, Murphy's Law! Wishing U Better Luck, in all u do! Great Job so far! Luv Your Channel!
Thanks Marsha!
Dear Amy, your recipe is divine, made it for my sister. She gave me 3 Stars for my cooking. Never found such a simple but excelent quiche. Love your vlogs👑👑👑
Oh that’s great Iris! I’m pleased your sister gave it the thumbs up too! X
Loved the chicken sneaking into the kitchen behind you😂👍
I only saw that on the edit - she’s so cheeky that one!
Wonderful video!!! Clement is adorable!!! Love from Vermont
These are amazing, such well edited vlogs. The chaos of the grenadine syrup incident - I shuddered and laughed at the same time.
Ah thanks Carolyn. I’m glad you’re enjoying them! It’s been such a steep learning curve for me to learn the technology but I’m really enjoying it now!
Enjoyed the episode. Liked how the peacock photo bomb the shot
He’s such a diva!
I like the mix of cooking and building/ daily life stuff
Oh good! Something for everybody!
A super vlog - and thank you for showing how you made the quiche! I had commented to my husband that it appeared not to have been made with any crust - now you have solved the mystery :)! It looks wonderful - would enjoy seeing more of your 'quick meals'. Great choices for music as well. Stay safe :)
I’ve always known that table as foosball in the USA
Thank-you enjoyed your blog and thanks for showing how to make the quiche.🙂
Thanks for watching Denice!
When my boys were young one of them dropped a bottle of neat cordial on the kitchen floor, it went up the cupboards and everywhere, it look me days and days to get the sticky off everything, oh what fun.
I love the way that most people on here have a story the same!!! (Apart from the ones who tell me off for being irresponsible 😂)
😊 thanks.
What a shame there isn’t automatic filming for events like the grenadine😂 but with your superb description of events, I could picture it perfectly😂 I’m impressed you didn’t swear after losing all your editing work!
Thanks for the quiche recipe, amazingly it’s very similar to what I do, but as is always the case, when someone else cooks/makes something, it always tastes so much better.
Thanks for sharing your daily adventures with us, it is so enjoyable, and never feel you have to stress to get videos out, I am happy to see them as you can manage to do them xx
Thank you Karen - I in turn love all of your supportive comments xxx
@@Chroniclesofrosieres de nada xx
That quiche looks foolproof! :) Another delightfully addictive episode! X
Aw thanks Gerri! X
Thank you for another lovely video!
Thank you! Happy Easter! X
I love the innuendos, 2 mins in & I’m spitting my tea out 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂 you wouldn’t believe how much I have to edit out 😂
Another entertaining video!
Thanks Michael!
Amy, thanks for the quish video. I've never tried making one, looks easy and I plan try. Always love your videos.
Thank you for the quiche demonstration! I was thinking that the parchment was some type of “family secret” but it’s actually from the store-bought pastry dough! 😆 I love that...makes it quicker and I expect that even store-bought dough in France is of high quality (made with real butter, etc.). Thank you for the wonderful videos and for sharing your home! Hope you have a wonderful Easter! 🐣
I feel a bit of a fraud doing a cooking segment with so much cheating in it 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Have a wonderful Easter yourself!
@@Chroniclesofrosieres haha shortcuts are good, and easier for us to try to replicate outside of France! Even Jaques Pepin, who was school of Escoffier-trained, had a cooking show in the U.S., called Fast Food My Way, in which he showed how to make French-style food in an easier way, using shortcuts of quality prepared foods.
Thoroughly enjoying your mini series.
That’s great Angela! We’re pleased to have you along!
!! Wonderful!! Piano music!! I love ragtime!!
Happy Easter! Thank you for a lovely vlog and take your time to relax.
Happy Easter yourself Mark! Glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely video! Happy Easter💛🌿🐣
Happy Easter!
Thank you...great vlog as always.
Glad you enojoyed it Isobel
Love your humor.
😊😊😊
A really nice vlog.I can only imagine the mess with the grenadine! :) I had a little ornamental bird house next to our summer house, it's now been occupied by a tiny wren so we can't use the patio just in case we disturb her! :)
Oh no! Kicked out of your home by a mini bird!!!
Love this channel
Thank you!
The quiche looks delicious! Thank you for sharing your recipe. Love the bird houses too! Seems so idyllic in your sweet corner of the world!
It really is. I have to pinch myself sometimes! X
You have so much fun and I love watching your exploits , music makes me want to dance
Ah that’s lovely - thanks Bernice!
