I always hoped that Jacob would marry Queenie and one of their great-granddaughters (long having forgotten the magic but only remembering stories about a great grandma who could always see through her kids when they tried to lie to her) would go to study in England, marry an English dental student named Granger and they would have a daughter and call her Hermione. Great grandma's genes would pop up again, surprising everyone.
Two words. Quentin Kowalski. Quidditch player in the World cup of 2014 for America. Meaning as this name no way is a coincidence, Jacob had definitely a wizard grandson, whether this is a hint that he and Queenie(sounds like a female version of Quentin anyone?) end up having children together, which I'd totally be up for, or whether it is another hint on your theory here I can't tell, but both seem good enough.
My assumption was always that Jacob is a Polish Catholic. Queenie and Tina are the ones with obviously Jewish surnames. Both Catholic and Jewish culture have strong taboos against marrying out of the faith, so the taboo depicted in the story of Queenie not being able to be involved with Jacob because she was a witch and he was a muggle, reflects to some extent the historical taboos experienced by Catholic and Jewish immigrants to New York in the early 20th century.
Mathematech I agree - Tina and Queenie are the obviously Jewish ones. While Jacob is a pretty Jewish name, Kowalski is just really Polish. There’s usually some overlap in Polish and Jewish surnames, but I think Jacob is just Polish (since he is literally from Poland). In addition, the name Zacharias comes from the New Testament, so it’s definitely not a Jewish name. Hephzibah is a Hebrew name, so maybe the Hufflepuff line is Jewish, but even so, that doesn’t give much of a connection to Jacob or Zacharias. Although fun fact, the actors who play Credence and Jacob are both Jewish!!
Jacob isn't really all that Jewish for a Polish immigrant: it's really just Polish/German for "James". As for Zacharias and Hephzibah, there seems to have been a fashion at one point (among the Puritans, I think, though I could be wrong) to pick names out of the Bible, so the Smiths could be a very staunchly non-conformist Christian family. But I wouldn't say that Zacharias is "New Testament": it's also spelled "Zechariah", and that's an Old Testament book.
Well, my family is from Poland, they were Jewish. They moved to other country and married Catholics. My father's family biggest taboo used to be to talk about religion. They always fighted when someone mentioned it. So I guess it wasn't really a rule. We had also Protestant marrying Catholic, they just converted so they could marry and then everyone went to its own church lol It was normal to convert because of marriage or divorce in EU.
@@rose8765 Jacob (or "Jakub" in Polish) may be of Jewish origin, but it's not important anymore. This name is (and was) quite popular in Poland. Nobody thinks of it as Jewish. It's just ordinary name with no meaning to it. 🤷
Also, an excerpt from the Pottermore Hufflepuff Welcome Letter states, "Our emblem is the badger, an animal that is often underestimated, because it lives quietly until attacked, but which, when provoked, can fight off animals much larger than itself, including wolves." IT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE NOW!!

I feel like JK Rowling would have one of 3 reactions to this video ( but I'm writing it the way I would phrase it) 1. Oh my goodness! Took them long enough to figure it out. Finally!! Finally! 2. Hey, I never thought about it, but it checks out. Let's go with it 3. Dude, calm down. It was all just a big coincidence, a dude and an egg.
I kind of prefer him randomly being involved in the plot. I think it's more realistic and allows us to have a main character who isn't "special" in any way but is still important.
Same. If anything, if he was just some guy who is unimportant save for the fact that he's kind and open to new ideas and possibilities, it makes it better. You don't have to be special or predetermined to be great; you can make your own greatness.
Well the memory forgetting charm didn't work on Jacob, and when he got bitten he also didn't react like he was suppose to, so not a muggle, he could be a squib.
The obliviating spell didn't work on him cuz it's supposed to take away one's bad memories. All the memories Jacob had in the movie were good! Heck, he was in awe w the animals, remember...
@@MadDogMax123 the obliviate spell is different from the potion that Newt used. The spell can be used to modify or erase any memories, good or bad. The potion is specific to bad memories. That's why Jacob remembered everything, but Hermione's parents didn't.
Btw on the Pottermore website after I was sorted int hufflepuff it said that the reason that the badger represents hufflepuff us because they are very calm but when provoked, they can be vicious. Just saying. Also don’t hate on my fellow hufflepuffs.
Jacob's confections tasted absolutely magical. Perhaps he inherited his grandmother's rolling pin, the center of which is a wand. Using it under her tutelage would have provided an outlet to his emerging magic, thereby avoiding the development of an obscurus.
Whether or not he is or isnt a hufflepuff i can tell you that Jacob is deffo the purest cinnamon roll in the whole series. Ok maybe second purest after Newt but they are both just adorable nuggets.
Let's not forget the parallels between Queenie, Tina, Newt and Jacob with the founders of Ilvermorny, one of whom was a muggle - the wand maker I believe?
Statistically everyone has two parents four grandparents eight great-grandparents and doubling every generation prior, if we assume that there are four generations in a century then everyone has 4096 ancestors going back 300 years If this trend continues (as in now pure blood inbreeding) then everyone has more then 11 BILLION ancestors going back 1000 years So yeah I say he could be related
Troper H'ghar That means that EVERYONE is related to each other. In fact, VSauce Michael made a video about it and he revealed that we’re all at least 50th cousins with each other
What if when Jacob says “my uncles a house elf” he wasn’t lying but wasn’t exactly right what if the house elf wasn’t is uncle but a close friend of his family close enough to consider him like an uncle. (Personally I love this theory well done)
I would like to point something that makes a bit of a connection. Since House Hufflepuff are great at food charms. If you noticed at the end of Fantastic Beasts when J.K. (jacob kowalski) all of his pastries looked very good in comparison to his pastries earlier in the film. Almost as If he was actually a wizard and made these pastries which looked like the fantastic beasts he encountered before his memories were supposedly wiped. To have that recollection after a memory charm was cast on him, makes me think its less of a coincidence. It would further my hypothesis that he is indeed tied to the wizarding world and that he may in fact be a wizard. He just doesn't know it. Not the first to happen in the Harry Potter franchise.
I think he's the grandson, or great-grandson of a squib, so he has some magic blood in him. Squibs are pretty much shunned in the wizarding world, so his father or mother (or whoever the magic blood comes from) might not have known about magic. Just my opinion.
The memory recollection is actually part of another theory where the swooping evil’s venom is supposed to erase bad memories, but throughout the entire movie we see that Jacob didn’t make very bad memories. Therefore not a lot of his memories were wiped because he made more good memories than bad ones
Not a wizard If he would have been ge would get his letter from Ilvermony Hogwarts was behind Dursley's life to send harry to hogwarts You may say he was HARRY POTTER but still Jacob would get the letter to Ilvermony
IMO, his resistance to the memory wipe is the first and by far the most compelling evidence that he has magical ancestry. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned in the video. That being said, if he is a descendant of one of Hogwarts' founders, Hufflepuff is the obvious choice.
Hogwarts only watched the Dursleys because they sent Harry there and because of the knowledge that he survived the killing Curse. He needed to be watched because Voldy was still out there. That baby needed protection. Jacob However could have a Squib as his ancestor, of course they were brushed aside and ignored because of their lack of magical ability. if that Squib married a Muggle/No Maj, they have the very strong likelihood of having Non magic children...well having children that have no active magic and as a result fly under the radar of the schools. This could mean he is a Squib and unable to use magic therefore ignored by magic schools.
I think the house mascots are supposed to symbolize the houses themselves, not the names. The lion is Gryffindor because lions are brave, the snake is Slytherin because they are cunning, the eagle is Ravenclaw because eagels are intelligent, and the badgers are Hufflepuff because they are caring and sweet until you piss them off. Edit: Bears are also caring and loyal until you screw with them or their family. Edit num2: I really gotta stop commenting before finishing the video.
itzyeboi_camdaman ._. While ravens are smart, they are often considered to be omens of death which I believe is the initial reason for not using a raven. As for the eagle, I've done some digging and found that in Norse mythology eagles are often connected with wisdom. Odin himself turns into an eagle to liberate the sacred mead from a giant. This mead is often connected with scholars and poets.
itzyeboi_camdaman ._. I ones had a very symbolic explanation for this. Eagles mostly have an own area there they hunt and most curious people have a specific interest in science, art or something else. I think this COULD be a reason for the eagle. Ravens kinda seem more Slytherin to me too.
Compared to ravens, and corvids in general, eagles are pretty stupid. They are good hunters, but stupid. And I haven't seen any evidence whatsoever that snakes are cunning. Also, have you seen that video of lions being scared by a ferret? Ironically, badger is the animal that fits the most.
I think badgers represent Hufflepuff well because people often underestimate them even though they are quite fierce if someone encroaches on their territory. They have even been known to kill *snakes* that try to enter their dens.
Honey badgers are more likely to do that, rather than the European badgers that hufflepuff is based from - Still a badger though and that's really cool symbolism!
Raven in Ravenclaw isn’t meaning the bird raven it means the color raven aka black so black claws and eagles have black claws or talons and are the symbols of wisdom so that is actually why it’s an eagle not a raven
I think Jacob doesn't need to be tied to the wizarding world. Jacob is the embodiment of the wish fulfillment of getting whisked away into a wild magical adventure.
Yeah, but at least you guys had Cho and Luna. I think the twins were Ravenclaw too (correct me if I'm wrong). We've literally only had Cedric until it came to Fantastic Beasts.
Jay and Coco one of the twins is ravenclaw and one is Gryffindor and tonks who is basically the best character is a hufflepuff. It was kind of balanced until newt pipes up and made hufflepuff the best house. I think a wizard detective story with a ravenclaw lead would be awesome.
Jay and Coco to be honest I'm just really happy that the joint power of ravenpuff is getting some love. Even if ravenclaw has to wait I'm glad that hufflepuff is getting it's chance to shine and I'd love the same of slytherin too. About my only major criticism of the harry potter series is that it's so Gryffindor dominated. I mean look at it this way my phone came with Gryffindor on auto check but I've had to add every other house to my dictionary.
@@xyforever1546 Origins of family names have many different sources. Variations on the name "Smith" generally mean that at some point in the family's history there was a prominent tradesman. That's all that smith really means, tradesman. Black for iron/steel workers because of the carbon dust left over. Gold, silver, and whatever other precious metals which also vary by region. Cooper for barrel makers. It's more slang than anything else, but even some writers are called wordsmiths. There may be a language out there that has a smith variant for baker, but in English would you care to take a wild guess where the family name Baker came from? It's not Kowalski, but it's still the name of a smith.
@@FlanylShirtman Smith is someone who does smithing. Hitting metal to give it shape. Not any other trade. "Wordsmith" is pure phraseology, like "keyboard warrior".
Kowalski is super popular Polish surname, so there were probably many immigrants with the same name, but not necessary related. I wouldn't look too deep into that one.
My thoughts exactly. That is probably how Hermione got her magic from muggles/squibs in her ancestry. Even Aunt Petunia must have had some ability to see magical creatures as she saw how Lily made the flower bloom.
It doesnt matter that Jacob sees magic, everybody can even "pure" muggels. As for the magical creatures, they can be seen by everybody too, expect for some special creatures like dementors ( only wizards / sqiubs) or thestrals ( only those who saw death)
Well, he IS loyal and hard working. I can see his ambition being even bigger, though. Could you imagine if he was a hatstall between Hufflepuff and Slytherin! "Not Hufflepuff...Not Hufflepuff…"
_Blah_ Snape is such a slytherin tho. I think people only say that cause all slytherins seem bad and he was proven good. But he has all the characteristics
@@kaiasmith5404 I feel the same; honestly there's no question. No one fits Slytherin qualities as much as Snape since his motivation was that all the ends must justify the means (or is it the other way around) either way, he was cunning, willing to do whatever it took to make sure everything planned out.
Hi! So I really love this theory but I'm also Polish and here are some facts: Kowalski isn't really a very Jewish last name. I think the association comes from the time when there was a large Jewish population living in Poland, so before World War II. Kowalski is just one of the most popular Polish last names, the way Smith is in Amerca. So I always though that Jacob's last name was Kowalski to make it fairly obvious that he had Polish descendants. But that's just something I thought was worth pointing out. I love the video and dig the theory anyway 💕
My thoughts exactly! I've never thought that Kowalski might be a jewish name and I don't suppose it is. Although it is interesting that KOWAL means blackSMITH!
+Melanie Many people are named "Jacob" or "Ester" or "Jude" not with assosiation with the jewish roots, a;so in Polad. Also in Poland. Like for 10 boys, 2-3 of them are Jacobs. It's a very popular name in Poland, and Kowalski is a very popular last name.. he's definitly polish if you ask me...
You mean his ancestors*. Also the name Jacob could either be his given name (suggesting american/british parentage) or he just uses it because the name Jakub is so easily exchangable with Jacob. I agree that I have never heard of a connection of the surname Kowalski with Jewish people and that it's definitely a "THIS IS A POLISH PERSON" surname... Also minor correction, it just means blacksmith in a gramatically turned into a surname way, not "son of". That's not really a thing in polish names/surnames the way it is in for example icelandic. Also the way he talkd about his pastries and his recipe for "pączkis" coming from his grandmother suggests to me that his baking skills come from his Polish side of the family. Though you never know with JK and it is a cute theory.
Most of this is basically what I was thinking (as half English half Polish) and I was so confused when he said 'son of' I literally had to pause the video and think and I was like it doesn't mean son of though... btw ceść ludzie!
he probably is as Jakub Kowalski is one of the most common name and surname from Poland, so no one would suspect where he is from, the dude is our muggle and dunno about others but I love him to bits X"D
Well, I was waiting for you to mention polish meaning of "Kowalski", and I may have yelled at my computer few times but you finally did :) Greetings from Poland ;)
People keep giving me crap about Ravenclaws mascot because I'm Ravenclaw...it sucks...... But I realize other houses must have it worse. But I'm proud to be a Ravenclaw!!!
Watching this while wearing a Hufflepuff necklace AND a sweater with the Hufflepuff colours, with a Hufflepuff banner on my bedroom wall. I "find" this very amusing XD
"Much like a Hufflepuff, I did some finding" That's hilarious, nearly spat out my tea. Props to you. Also, Puffs have a dorm by the kitchen... if Jacob was going to be in any house, it'd be the Puffs.
Kowalski is actutally the most stereotypical and popular Polish last name. And you have no idea how happy I am that there is finally a character connected to my home in the HP Universe! Also his name Jacob exist in Pooish as Jakub and is read a bit different. Also I really hope that Newt will someday visit Janów Podlaski (worth a google) and find some hidden magical-horse-creature stable. Hippogryphs would be the best, but only best breeds :D
Kiara Pinto agree, it’s far more fun to have him as an ordinary muggle on a big adventure than as someone with secret powers. He’s special because he’s a kind and loyal person, I don’t think Rowling would take away from that.
Caleb Chong - which would still make sense as the dragon is on the Welsh flag.....except, alas, it :-D would've been a stronger mascot than the griffin, which wouldn't help the imagery.
Plentiy Oh that would make a lot of sense. More specifically it would explain the whole eagle fiasco, since Ravenclaw was a very proud woman who probably would have a "noble" animal as patronus. A raven patronus is more suited for a quite scholar or a behind-the-scene schemer (or someone with an affinity for stuff like necromancy...let's not go there).
Also, after they shower NYC with the rained memeory charm Jacob still maintains some magical knowledge which is displayed in his baked goods being made in the shapes of the fantastic beasts that Newt introduces him too.
As for the question about why the symbol is a badger, I always thought it was because it was her Patronus. I just assumed all the house mascots were the founder's Patronus. Is that just me?
Leila Byerly no I thought that too, it makes perfect sense. Gryffindor has such a small relation to lions, ur a magic man you can have a magic house mascot goddamn
Yes, that could have been their respective patronuses. As we all know, a wizard/witch cannot choose what form their patronus would take. It takes the animal that reflects their personality. And what better animal symbol would you choose to represent your house than what reflects your personality, right? 😊
I got thinking... what would happen if you put a niffler in the lesteange vault.... Theory Credence will do this in Fantastic Beasts 2 using newts niffler for some reason, If would really tie his connection to the lestranges
Alli Grace possibly...but we don’t know if those charms were placed on the items in the vault back then or were placed when Voldemort decided to put the cup in there...
You know, I'm just gonna sy JK Rowling wanted Hufflepuff's mascot to be a badger/bear because of Helga's possible love for honey. Then, since badgers hold more Hufflepuff values, she went with that. Also, I never thought of Hufflepuff having a wolf as a mascot because the Slytherins are like wolves in a pack, they literally always have friends around them almost all the time and, if you get sorted into Slytherin on Pottermore, the Prefect mentioned that Slytherins are like a close knit family, so more like wolves.
I think the point of Jacob showing up and becoming part of the adventure is more about how Newt sees the world. Newt observes JK like he would an animal, and sees that he's a really good person that is worth being friends with. It isn't random. If it weren't JK, Newt wouldn't have kept his memory in tact and wouldn't have helped him out or anything.
Honest before I remembered their mascot was a badger, I was thinking their mascot was a Pygmy Puff. Idk why, I just feel like Hufflepuff would have a cute and cuddly and small animal as a mascot.
Yes! Hedgies are Hufflepuffles! No questions. But I see Badgers as well if only because Huffles get pretty damm vicious when you threaten/get between them and their babies/pets and/or their food just like Badgers. Kind of like Deadpool who is a Hufflepuff according to Marvel comics.
Eiann Craig I'm sorry I was just trying to put a smile on someone's face and my sister told it to me a few days ago and I didn't claim I came up with it.
since he is of Polish descend, his surname should be pronounced "Kovalski" in Poland w is read like a v also Kowalski is most common surname in Poland, next to Nowak my opinion is, even though Jacob has many Hufflepuff characteristics, for me its kinda a stretch to assume that he is descendant of Helga. similarity in surnames happen sometimes... but i will be cool with it if it was actually true :D
Actually, this is even more proof: Smith is the most common name in UK and Kowalski is most common in Poland. And both have the same meaning - blacksmith.
@hubertnnn that's not proof of a family connection, that's proof that smith was one hell of a common profession when last names started becoming popular.
Even if Jacob is not a descendent of Hufflepuff, he's already awsome in my book due to the fact he's polish. Also yes, you've gotta try the "pączkis", especially those with rose marmalade. Also his name would be Jakub Kowalski in polish (pronounced somewhere along Iacoob Kovalski) and "kowal" does actually mean blacksmith, although Kowalski would be understanded more like "blacksmith" as an adjective for something belonging to a blacksmith. Hope I didn't make it more confusing :')

Maybe, but JK normally aint that smart
We had also Protestant marrying Catholic, they just converted so they could marry and then everyone went to its own church lol
It was normal to convert because of marriage or divorce in EU.

I kind of prefer him randomly being involved in the plot. I think it's more realistic and allows us to have a main character who isn't "special" in any way but is still important.
Zoe Doodle Yeah I agree
Same. If anything, if he was just some guy who is unimportant save for the fact that he's kind and open to new ideas and possibilities, it makes it better. You don't have to be special or predetermined to be great; you can make your own greatness.
I had assumed he was connected and important to the plot because of Queenie. If they hadn't hit it off, I don't know if he'd be involved as much.
Didn't Jacob also say he was using some of his grandmother's recipes in his interview at the bank?

Well the memory forgetting charm didn't work on Jacob, and when he got bitten he also didn't react like he was suppose to, so not a muggle, he could be a squib.

Jacob's confections tasted absolutely magical. Perhaps he inherited his grandmother's rolling pin, the center of which is a wand. Using it under her tutelage would have provided an outlet to his emerging magic, thereby avoiding the development of an obscurus.

spacegoat I'd never noticed that but you're absolutely correct.
Statistically everyone has two parents four grandparents eight great-grandparents and doubling every generation prior, if we assume that there are four generations in a century then everyone has 4096 ancestors going back 300 years If this trend continues (as in now pure blood inbreeding) then everyone has more then 11 BILLION ancestors going back 1000 years
So yeah I say he could be related

If you go back far enough in genealogy it converges, that is a given ancestor has more than one great-greate-great- position.

Not a wizard
If he would have been ge would get his letter from Ilvermony
Hogwarts was behind Dursley's life to send harry to hogwarts
You may say he was HARRY POTTER but still Jacob would get the letter to Ilvermony

SLYTHERIN
I just hope that Newt at some point will say to jacob: "Kowalski analysis"
As a Hufflepuff, I here by welcome Jacob Kowalski into our family!
Regine Flange but ravens are also very smart...
itzyeboi_camdaman ._.
CawAreYouDoin? It's about the symbolism, not how those animals are in nature.
I think badgers represent Hufflepuff well because people often underestimate them even though they are quite fierce if someone encroaches on their territory. They have even been known to kill *snakes* that try to enter their dens.
So Slytherin better not mess with us! Lol
Exactly! : )
Couldn’t take on a lion though ;)
Honey badgers are more likely to do that, rather than the European badgers that hufflepuff is based from - Still a badger though and that's really cool symbolism!
Falling-Out-Trees 101, they put up a damn fight though, there is a video!!
Raven in Ravenclaw isn’t meaning the bird raven it means the color raven aka black so black claws and eagles have black claws or talons and are the symbols of wisdom so that is actually why it’s an eagle not a raven
Yeah but like Ravens are way cooler than Eagles. Checkmate.
movie flame? or did you figure that out on your own?
I didn't think about that.
Jk is my fav muggle

**JK Sees Video** "Thats a good one, I'll write that down and claim it as my idea.."
For some reason that’s what I always think
I think Jacob doesn't need to be tied to the wizarding world. Jacob is the embodiment of the wish fulfillment of getting whisked away into a wild magical adventure.
i know, he's perfect for who he is, but i want in the final movie to be like "You're a wizard jacob!"
VOIZ CRACK yeah just have him grab a wand and find out it doesn’t send him flying backwards when he tries to use it
Agreed.
That would make sense why he's able to get onto the Hogwarts grounds and why he can enter any wizarding stuff in the two movies
YES... hopefully. We’re getting some good Hufflepuff representation in these movies!
FanFusion still a low number of ravenclaws though 😭
Yeah, but at least you guys had Cho and Luna. I think the twins were Ravenclaw too (correct me if I'm wrong). We've literally only had Cedric until it came to Fantastic Beasts.
Jay and Coco one of the twins is ravenclaw and one is Gryffindor and tonks who is basically the best character is a hufflepuff. It was kind of balanced until newt pipes up and made hufflepuff the best house. I think a wizard detective story with a ravenclaw lead would be awesome.
Right, I forgot Tonks was Hufflepuff. And yeah, I agree that Ravenclaw detective story would be awesome.
„Kowalski” is the most popular last name in Poland😛
And I bet Smith is in the UK
@@HiopX Kowalski pretty much means Smith
New theorie

Male founders: the name and the animal will be tied!
Female founders: I do what i want!
also, one of the Players of the USA Quidditch team is called Quentin Kowalski, could he be Related of Jacob and Queenie?
Kowalski is super popular Polish surname, so there were probably many immigrants with the same name, but not necessary related. I wouldn't look too deep into that one.
If Jacob can see magical creatures and magic in general he has to be a squib, like Filtch and Mrs. Figg. So he must have some magical ancestors.
Pup314 huh
Maybe hes like the child of two squibs living in the muggle world?
My thoughts exactly. That is probably how Hermione got her magic from muggles/squibs in her ancestry. Even Aunt Petunia must have had some ability to see magical creatures as she saw how Lily made the flower bloom.
Pup314. I was thinking the same thing
It doesnt matter that Jacob sees magic, everybody can even "pure" muggels. As for the magical creatures, they can be seen by everybody too, expect for some special creatures like dementors ( only wizards / sqiubs) or thestrals ( only those who saw death)
Uhh Pup314, thats not how it works... Lara Dingels has got it right
Wait hold up, Queenie is Snape's grandmother? And Helga Hufflepuff is the ancestor of Jacob? So Snape is the descendant of Helga Hufflepuff...?
Well, he IS loyal and hard working. I can see his ambition being even bigger, though. Could you imagine if he was a hatstall between Hufflepuff and Slytherin! "Not Hufflepuff...Not Hufflepuff…"
😱
**le gasp**
@@marcelocasanova2124 alot of potterheads actually think the sorting hat messed up on 7 sortings, snapes being one of them
_Blah_ Snape is such a slytherin tho.
Amaritudine Jacob is a Jewish name though, and I still think he’s Jewish. I need representation.
Great theory, but I kinda hope its not true. I like how he is there randomly, he's just some guy that we all love.

That animals are the founder's patroni, aren't they?
Plentiy Oh that would make a lot of sense. More specifically it would explain the whole eagle fiasco, since Ravenclaw was a very proud woman who probably would have a "noble" animal as patronus. A raven patronus is more suited for a quite scholar or a behind-the-scene schemer (or someone with an affinity for stuff like necromancy...let's not go there).
Possibly I don't know if it's ever been stated.

Charlotte Tomlinson YES
Funny considering when newt was asked if he was a seeker (of truth) he said he was more of a chaser. (Quitage jokes)
What the hell is a Hufflepuff?
As for the question about why the symbol is a badger, I always thought it was because it was her Patronus. I just assumed all the house mascots were the founder's Patronus. Is that just me?
Leila Byerly no I thought that too, it makes perfect sense. Gryffindor has such a small relation to lions, ur a magic man you can have a magic house mascot goddamn
Yeah I completely agree.
Theory
Credence will do this in Fantastic Beasts 2 using newts niffler for some reason, If would really tie his connection to the lestranges
it would put something in its pouch, but the thing would multiply and turn scalding hot, so the poor niffler would explode and burn from the inside...
The niffler would explode to death or burn to death from the geminio and flagrante curse put on all of the items
For one of the few creatures that Luna mentions off hand that’s actually real.
Alli Grace possibly...but we don’t know if those charms were placed on the items in the vault back then or were placed when Voldemort decided to put the cup in there...
Just a thought
You know, I'm just gonna sy JK Rowling wanted Hufflepuff's mascot to be a badger/bear because of Helga's possible love for honey. Then, since badgers hold more Hufflepuff values, she went with that. Also, I never thought of Hufflepuff having a wolf as a mascot because the Slytherins are like wolves in a pack, they literally always have friends around them almost all the time and, if you get sorted into Slytherin on Pottermore, the Prefect mentioned that Slytherins are like a close knit family, so more like wolves.
With a lot of willpower, I find that nifflers and badgers look alike, and Hufflepuffs were known to be particularly good finders, weren't they? =P

Yes, much cuter than badgers!
Want to hear a joke:
How does Harry Potter get down a hill?
He walks ....... J.k ....Rowling 😂😂😂
Any original joke?
Eiann Craig I'm sorry I was just trying to put a smile on someone's face and my sister told it to me a few days ago and I didn't claim I came up with it.
since he is of Polish descend, his surname should be pronounced "Kovalski"
in Poland w is read like a v
also Kowalski is most common surname in Poland, next to Nowak
my opinion is, even though Jacob has many Hufflepuff characteristics, for me its kinda a stretch to assume that he is descendant of Helga. similarity in surnames happen sometimes... but i will be cool with it if it was actually true :D
Mateusz Karczewski maybe when his ancestors came to America his name got Americanized to be spelled differently
Shedinja 345 it was him who went to America
His name still is Kowalski, im just pointing out that Poles and Americans spell this name differently
Nevertheless, Smith and Kowalski are quite similar names, so it might have been done on purpose. It's a long shot, but possible.
Actually, this is even more proof:
Smith is the most common name in UK and Kowalski is most common in Poland.
