I think it’s incredible how much detail you’re able to get that goes past the movies and screenplays. You are so good at looking deeper into the narrative and taking so much out. I’ve seen the movie twice now and you made me think and feel so many different things that I never even thought of
yes!
Garrett Gomes he reads the books to
dave ortwine The fact that you’re looking at the basic parts of the story to judge his writing shows how dumb you are. Of course that’s the simple writing because it’s the simple part of the story. Look at the more complicated parts of the story, he adds so much emotion and dives into the characters feelings.
dave ortwine Lol you mad bro?😂 someone’s jealous

If Leta was born under the imperius curse how she was not evil just like Voldemort who was born because of a love potion and not real love?
“You’re too good newt, you’ve never met a monster you couldn’t love”😢❤️
DAMMINT I'm heartbroken. I don't care you're monster leta I still believe your a good person and your always will.
Well, Grindelwald killed her in a devastating way.
@@thatonenicehusky3623 do you have no heart😡
.......Do you not know english well?
I was saying my regards....and suddenly, you say that.
I honestly think the final “I love you” was meant for both Newt and his brother. Theseus was her love in her adult life, whereas Newt was her buried memory and first love. I don’t think either conflicted, they were different kinds of love
@imaFreudnot true
@Adelaide Wrona yeah I do think it could have been to both....
I thought the same
I Agree. She is Mature Enough to Move on from her Past First Love to Live a Happy Life. But That Doesn't Mean SheNeeds To Cut away From Newt.
I thought that too when i saw the film clip in english „i love you“ could meant so both but im from Germany so i also looked to film in German and there she says: „ich liebe dich“. What means that she said that only to one person :) btw sry that my english is not the best 🥴
Really liked her line with Newt about monsters, that was bittersweet.
Omg fr "you never knew a monster you couldn't love" tears
I’m stupid ik but who does she mean by monster? Is she calling newt a monster? Or is she saying that she’s the monster and she could never love herself which does make a lot of sence
@@jaywithani2753 she is referring to herself as a monster
Omaima ok thought so thank you 😀
@@jaywithani2753 Obviously it means her since she indirectly killed her own brother.
Newt is just the kindest and accepting person.
I'm still disappointed at how Leta was killed off so quickly. I remember walking into the theatre ready to dislike her for, apparently, getting Newt expelled from Hogwarts. But her character was so interesting and had so much potential. Leta's one of the more "kind" Slytherin characters in the series. I was looking forward to seeing her more in the future films and to see how her story continues to develop. I thought Zoe Kravitz played Leta very beautifully with the right amount of sophistication, bravery, and a touch of Slytherin. Although it seems clear that Leta is dead, I still have a small bit of hope that she would return.
I don't mean to come off as rude but did are you saying Snape is kind or not? I can't really tell
It's going to make a very interesting plot as when she sacrificed her self she was doing out of love for newt and/or thuesus so she would of make a s love protection for the two of them like lilly and harry so I think cutting her off so early May seem dumb but when you look at why it makes it much more interesting
@Kaustubh Jaiswal just my opinion I don't think he's entirely nice (to his students) he only cares about the students who have a good connection to well known personalities and the ones who have a good potential to become one, he doesn't really pay attention to the other students and neglects them instead of helping them grow. But yea he is one of the slytherin that come in the category of "nice"
@@larenaamorette they didn't say anything about snape ;-;

I loved all the characters in this movie, but personally, I believe that Leta had the most interesting arc and backstory. I still can't believe she died, we obviously wanted to see more of her.
Kanishma Ray AGREED
Agreeee
Ikrrrr
I did too
yhhhh
Leta : "You never met a monster you couldn't love". And yet, she always considers herself as a monster for (unintentionally) killing her baby brother.
That's the point
^^^
That was beautiful! I instantly cried😭😢
Beautiful tragi-love story, really is.
yh
I feel like she loved them both, not just one of them. Newt she loved for everything he'd done for her in the past and how he saw the worst in her and yet still insisted she was a good person. Theseus she loved because he gave her love without a care for the rumors about her and her past, and because he offered her hope for a new life, a life untainted by the darkness she'd known. I think if she had lived she would have still married Theseus, partly because of wanting to leave that past behind (it caused her a lot of pain and trauma and who wants to relive that every day of their life?) and because of Newt's growing feelings for Tina.
I agree
This is my theory also.
I think if Newt had still being in touch after gotten expelled it could have been those two, but then he never did, she ended up with Thesesus because he gave the same kind of love that newt gave her, Just like you said about Theseus, Newt was the only one at Hogwarts that didnt care about the rumors of Leta etc. only problem is that Newt never told her that she loved him and then he got expelled after taking the blame. they lost contact. Thats probably why she said " you never met a monster you couldnt love " refering to her as a monster and to him for loving her.
I fully agree!
She belong to the streets🤣
Zoe Kravitz is gorgeous

Amane Kabbaj she can not have died yet because she will die in the last Harry Potter film
Matar [Rain] that’s bellatrix lestrange (married) black (birth) only distantly related
I know! She was such an interesting character and I think it would have been great to see more of her. When she ended up dying I was not really shocked or sad, mostly just disappointed (overall I liked the movie but I have some issues with it)
I don’t think she died, I mean, Queenie is still Alive... *traitor*
Some say that she didn't actually die and faked her death
She was one of the best characters in Crimes of Grindelwald. I hope she somehow managed to survive
I'm pretty sure she survives ish

Leta's story is heartbreaking she has some similarities with Snape
I thought so too
Even though she isn’t a slimy jerk like Snape yea I guess she does have some similarities
Not all Slytherin are bad!!!!
Snape was not a good person though, Leta was
Yeah, I see what you mean
I was sooo upset when she died. She had the most character development in the movie and of course J.K Rowling had to kill her off.
J.K. Didn’t write the movie fam.
@@GodsFaveSim JK Rowling wrote the screen play for both Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them (which was her first ever screen play) and The Crimes of Grindelwald.

JK actually didn't plan to kill her. David Yates changed the direction mid-filming
"You've never met a monster you couldn't love". Leta Lestrange. She lived a life of guilt. But Newt opened her to the marvels of Magical Creatures. I think we're all going to miss her. And Skylar Barret , that is kind of wierd *shudders as well*. MovieFlame , there isn't a movie you can't sink deeper into. I appreciate your videos. To Leta Lestrange!
Why are all the good Slytherins killed off to propel the protagonist, can't they just give some words of encouragement
@Dmar Tube LMFAO !!!
True
Because good People die , especially in Hard times and times don't give a beep in which house you were ;)

Damn these videos contain so much effort and dedication. I applaud to you for making the viewers encapsulated by these stories.
Dumbledore & Leta have a special connection.
Both of them lost their siblings & blamed themselves for their sibling's death
N both admired as well as fought with Grindelwald
Dumbledore blamed himself for Ariana’s death, because it was always implied that he killed her.
". . . not his brother, who she dated just to remind her of Newt. Newt was her first love; and I believe that he was her last love as well."
Ouch.
Am I the only one who finds the concept of "half house-elves" a bit weird... that means someone got frisky with a dobby...... that's just....... *shudders*
Can you imagine... a half giant...
Meh, we've already got Hagrid to contemplate about those.
😩😂💀
Half house-elf does not necessarily mean half human though. Could be half house-elf half goblin for example. (That's how I'm explaining it to myself at least ^^' )
Yeah... I sympathize with Hermione now more than ever
Leta was my favorite character from the second movie and I was so sad when she died. She was a tortured soul and your video explains it so well. I think she was still in love with Newt. I think she cared for Theseus but loved Newt. It’s so sad. You brought tears to my eyes as you talked about her at the end of the video. At least she redeemed herself in the end.
JaCara KM Style if her I love you was to Newt then she would have died with another lie to Theseus, it would disservice her redemption
BetaArtemis Uh, considering that she sacrificed her life for both brothers, then yes, she really did redeem herself.
is because myou be black
why Leta reminds me Natasha Romanoff so much?
Leta was a good person or she wouldn't have felt guilty. Too bad she never knew that. Bellatrix, now that's a monster.
Bellatrix's husband was related to Leta not Bellatrix herself, iirc she was Black
ZZM That’s not how it works, you can still be a shitty person and feel bad about being a shitty person, feeling bad about how awful you are doesn’t really change anything if you don’t attempt to be better.
Belletrix is one of my favorite villians.
@Hannah Dyson There's a difference between a bad person and an evil person.
Leta was a bad person, but not evil. She just had a bad personality. A person with a good character wouldn't just switch their brother with a random baby just to have some peace, instead they would try to help their brother's crying. She's greedy. She also let Newt get expelled instead of her unlike an unselfish person who would not let any of that happen, especially if the person was the one being guilty.
Not to mention she just got engaged with Theseus just to remind herself of Newt, which is basically using Theseus.
Her sacrifice to save the Aurors and the other protagonists at the rally was the only way she could pay back for her greed and selfishness. But her apology is more than acceptable for me.
Don’t insult the monster
No one else going to say that the ship looked like the titanic
That is Titanic mate😁
I was thinking the same thing!
Yeah it did
My heart will go on and on
The clip MovieFlame used was the Titanic Movie I believe, but I'm pretty sure the baby died in 1901 and the Titanic was released in the 1910 I believe or 1912.
Dying is easy, young man, living is harder.
Luis Felipe Hirose I love Hamilton and Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts
Yes, where is the Hamilton fandom
why are you telling me this? (tryna start a chain lol)
Zoë Kravitz did a fantastic job as Leta. I mean everyone in this movie did a great job. But damn. The grave scene.. I watched the movie twice, it never failed to amaze me and made me cry. Her emotion there was sooo real and heartbreaking. I can feel her pain.
And as always. You did a fantastic job here! Love this one so much. Is it possible to make a video about the lestrange & black family history? It always interests me since black and lestrange are such a dark kinda evil family yet two of my favorite characters (Leta and Sirius) are both from a dark pure blood line who turned good and somewhat estranged from their family and misunderstood by so may people just because of their family name. Or a video about all the pure blood line?
I think she said it to both. Sounds like an easy out but....definately think thats it. A girl can have love for someone remeber what it was like and miss it....but not be in love with them. Just saying. I think newt's brother was hope to move forward and Newt was the reminder it could be possible. Without newt she wouldn't have had the confidence for Theseus. The confidence to move forward live a better life.
Becca Crowe this definitely
That's my interpretation, too :-)
I personally feel like most people just assume Leta & Theseus's relationship didn't mean anything because you see so little of it?? Like Theseus was a good guy so why wouldn't it be possible for her to love him as much (or even more) than she loved Newt? We literally know nothing about what Leta and Theseus have been through, what made them connect and made them fall in love. It's easy to assume that since we don't know anything about their relationship there wasn't much love there. It is, however, wrong (to conclude that something doesn't exist just because you don't know a lot about it). I believe and truly hope that she said it to both. It would be wrong to Leta's character to turn her into just a girl who pined after Newt her whole life instead of a well developed character that went through hard times, grew despite of that and is capable of loving more than one person at once.
I share the same thoughts too, Leta probably loved both of them. Newt was her past, and Theseus was her present and supposed future.
I agree as soon as watched that scene I felt it was for the both of them
I think she said it to both of them. She loved Newt and Newt’s brother because they meant a lot to her and had their history
Leta is so misunderstood. She got bullied just because she is from the lestrange family. She should have been judged by the way she is. she is really kind and nice and also one of the best bravest sylytherins ever
She is super nice
Only nice people would kill their own brothers
@@user-sx6rm9uu7qshe was a child and she didn’t know that he would die, she didn’t mean it
She definitely said "I love you" to Newt. He reminded her of freedom, acceptance, love, and kindness I think she was with his brother out of obligation. Like being with him made her past disappear
How are you bringing tears to my eyes! your writing and storytelling is one of the best i have ever seen keep it up man!
i loved this video because i have to admit the movie confused me a bit about the family but this video helped me understand it a lot better
Well actually this video make me confused of the family trees
She's actually becoming my most favorite character in the whole freaking entire wizarding world franchise, no joke...
But then she died. You can just imagine how that shit went down with me.
i can relate...
Even though Newt married Tina later, I can't help but ship him with Leta. They're so perfect for each other, receiving the affection they craved all their life ...from each other. Then again, the greatest love stories don't often get a happy ending
Couldn't have said it better myself
Yes Newt married Tina
i couldn't agree more
I ship Newt and Tina but I can't help but ship Newt and Leta just a little bit since they were both outcasts and bonded together by taking care of magical creatures.
The only issue is like what Queenie said, that she was a taker, but he needed a giver. Which meant that he needed someone who would give back but she took from him
I think the way the film is presented is pretty obviously pointing that Leta was saying I love you to Newt.
P.S. Although I like Tina, I personally prefer to ship Newt and Leta more. Sad she is dead:(
Karen Lei I agree! I shipped them the whole time! So sad she died.
Yep I'm of the same opinion.
I like Tina too but I hope she is able to get Queenie out, get her out of the curse
Karen Lei she did but die

same, in the movie it cuts from Newt to Leta and then she says I love you. I’m pretty sure she meant him 🤷🏻♀️
Lorenza Wayne it says in the script that she said it to both of the., but I would still like to believe that she said it to newt because that would be cute, but then that would be really sad because she may be dead and newt ends up marrying tina
@@KLaaiiNeeSx3 You forget, it goes from Newt to Leta saying I love you, to cutting to Theseus - watch the scene again, right after Leta says I love you, then scene cuts to Theseus, so you are omitting a big moment of that scene.
@@taehyungdiaries3687 If she said it to Newt, then it does her character disservice that in her last moment, she didn't consider saying anything to the man she's going to marry? It wouldn't be sad that she may be dead and Newt marries Tina, it would be sad because Theseus, the man she was going to marry, didn't deserve that.

I really want Leta to somehow be alive still.
And the way we are going SHE MAY BE
im fine how so
im fine please explain 🤔 how she can still be alive
In the final scene of the movie Grindwald takes credence to Nurmengard Castle which is his own personal prison which leads many people me included to think that he captured at least some of the people through the blue flame. Because he admired leta it is not to huge of a stretch that he would capture instead of kill her.

Me too! She is such a great character.
I burst into tears when hearing your last explanation about who Leta said ‘I Love You’. I am on your side too. I think Leta love Newt so much. You can tell by the look she put on Newt.
Am I the only one who thinks Leta was actually in love with Theseus in the end? She might have dated Theseus since he reminded her of Newt at first, but I think she developed real affection for Theseus after dating with him for so long. Idk whether this has something to do with my Newtina ship but I really think Theseus/Leta makes a great match.
Personally I think she loved them both. I think she was in love with Theseus and loved him romantically and she also loved Newt but in a platonic way and thought of him as if he was family but she could have still had some romantic feelings for him.
Jiatong Yang i agree because if leta loved newt why would she be with theseus?
Only ship tina/newt cuz its canon. I cant feel their chemistry on screen. And without them luna would never have her husband. But then again i ship dramione so xD
@@kaylastarr2619 Usually I ship couples only because I like their interactions and their love for each other, regardless of whether they are canons or not. But idk why I usually ship canons lol. I don’t think there was enough scenes and backstory to support her feeling anything for Theseus. I didn’t see a relationship there, except someone telling us they were engaged.

Blazing Swordsman J.K. Rowling didn’t write the Fantastic beasts and where to find them films. They’re are many inconsistencies in the films that don’t comply with the established canon that J.K Rowling wrote and she has that said herself.
Can you do a video on the Lestrange family line.
YES PLEASE
Yeaaaaaa
Slytherins can love so profoundly😢
Dr.A Yousuf that’s because they’re so stigmatised as being unloving and unlovable that when someone does show them affection and when they feel that affection it’s so profound and raw because it’s true
I think she as saying, "I love you" to both brothers.
*"Regret is my constant companion"* so....deep...
I think that she told "I love you" to both of them.
She definitely loved Newt because they shared history and deep emotions.
She also loved Theseus. I don't really think she's a kind of a person who would use someone (Theseus) and she wouldn't marry someone just like that.. I mean, her mother married someone who she didn't love and who didn't love her so there's no way Leta would marry Theseus just because he's Newt's brother. In fact, I think that she kind of got over Newt (not entirely of course) and started loving Theseus just like Newt kind of got over her and started loving Tina.
When it comes to Angelina, Fred and George... Angelina,George, the rest of Weasley family,Hogwarts, I, all potter-heads, and whole universe were devastated by Fred's death. Angelina and George loved Fred and were deeply connected to him so they probably fell in love while talking about him. They were each other's shoulder for crying and they started developing emotions for each other and they got married. They probably fellt guilty about the marriage but they decided to get married after all, in memory of Fred.
Leta said "I love you" to a man who she loved in past (Newt) and to a man she loves now (Theseus). Newt was a person who she never said those words to and Theseus is a person who she didn't say those words enough to.
She loved them both but was ready to let go of Newt and to be with Theseus, to let go the past and to focus on present and future. She of course will never forget her first love, Newt, and she'll never forget what he has done for her (he got expelled from Hogwarts instead of her).
Wow. This made me cry
Leta was one of my favorite characters.I loved this video
Am i the only one who thinks slytherin is the most badass house ever. I mean voldemort malfoy and leta

I wouldn't exactly call Voldemort "badass", the whole Harry Potter series is about good and evil and if you don't understand people like Voldemort are evil bastards and not badasses.... I think you missed the whole point :-D Slytherin badass for me - that was definitely Snape! In the last three books, he's a brilliant combination of appearing totally disgusting, sarcastic and evil, while actually helping people. I mean, letting all his friends believe he's evil and hate him, while secretly working for the painting of Dumbledore, but also learning to fly from Voldemort at the same time - and keeping an expressionless face all that time! And I love the scene where he scolds Dumbledore for not telling him about the cursed ring sooner, and how he kept his wits about him when Harry shouted "He's got Padfoot!" in Umbridge's presence in "The Order of the Phoenix". "And Goyle, don't strangle Longbottom. If you did, it would mean a tedious amount of paperwork and I would have to put it in your record, should you ever decide to apply for a job." Now that's what I call "dripping with sarcasm" :-D

You offer a great view into Leta Lestrange's life and your writing is quite wonderful. I look forward to seeing more of your output 👍 Well done
She had such a tragic story...as much as I wanted to see more of her character, perhaps death was the release she needed for her guilt. Maybe she reunited with her brother again...

what if the "despair of the daughter" is related to Ariana and the cruelly banished son is Credence Barebone aka Aurelius Dumbledore, who is the great avenger with wings from the water
Aaditya Moudgil Nah mate im pretty shure Credence isnt a Dumbledore in the harry potter books more specifically in the last one Dumbledore explains his family and Grindelwald to harry (somerhing that sadly isnt in the movies)
@@palomavigu5779 I agree with you :D
I was thinking the same thing... And to me, that makes even more sense if you also take into account that both families have ties to an emblematic bird. This is reminiscent of the Harry/Neville parallel in the Potter series. The whole time people were convinced that the prophecy had to be about Harry when it could have easily been about Neville. Oh, and here too we have a prophecy involved... Most people don't want to see this staring them in the face because they're working off the assumptions that all the dates they were previously given or that they worked out from previously published information somehow matter that much/are carved into stone when the author herself already acknowledged at least once that she wasn't very good with dates... (And she is still human... Last time I checked, humans make mistakes...)
@@DieezahArts No ones has a problem with Jk making mistakes, but the crimes of Grindelwald had so many mistakes and most of them werent even neccessary if she would have cared about it. JK created her own Story and world , and you with examples like the cursed child and the crimes of grindelwald that she doesnt seem to care as much anymore about her own world.
Interesting thought, but kendra only ever had three children (HARRY POTTER SERIES). Besides, No one ever knew except Leta about the switch, even those who had been on the boat when it all happened, so how on earth would Grindlewald? He knows he can't fight Dumbledore, because of the blood oath, so he is sending Credence to do it for him, just like Dumbledore sending Newt. And how best to get Credence to do his bidding than to tell him his brother is trying to hide secrets from him? Credence is so desperate for answers, he is blinded and is easily manipulated, a perfect victim to prey upon by such a clever and charismatic leader like Grindlewald.
Also Ariana was young when she died, 14 I believe, and she never met anyone new because she never left the house. So how would she have had a kid or been involved with anyone?
The fact that leta and theseus were gonna be married makes me think newt is pure blood
i’m pretty sure he is, Luna is a decent from him (newt) and i’m almost positive she is a pureblood

I love that quote, "You never have met a monster you couldn't love." It is this quote that reminds me so much of Hagrid.
I agree, I think she loved Newt NOT Theseus, though she still cared deeply for Theseus. And I think, even though Newt still cared for Leta, I think he didn't love her as he had before he met Tina.
is it weird that i cried? the story of leta really touched my heart. and i ultimately agree about how leta said "i love you" to newt. im emotional.
Your storytelling is so awesome. Please don’t stop
I think leta lestrange is my favourite character so far in the series
Kulvir Singh same with me, aside from Newt
For me its queenie
For me it's Tina
I've always thought it was so ironic that Zoe's character Leta was so much like her dad Lenny's character Cinna in THG : both was expected to be bad and influenced by their origins (she from a pureblood, bad family and the other from the Capitol) yet died as heroes.
WHYYYYYY WHYYYY DID THEY KILL LETA???? SHE WAS SUCH AN INTERESTING AND DEEP CHARACTER, NOT TO BE KILLED OFF (or sacrificed) IN 2 HOURS WHYYYYYYY
WHY NOT THE THIRD MOVIE OR SOMETHING 😩😩😩
Hufflepuff Mixer Swifty it’s possible that JK wanted Leta death to be the motivator that forces Newt to finally choose a side
Maybe she was just teleported to the Austrian prison who knows it's jk Rowling anything can happen
And she‘s so hot
I just watched The Crimes of Grindelwald last night
In Harry Potter club, the teacher asked why Leta went to Hogwarts if she was French
I think she said I love you to both of them
Tell your teacher that the same way in British History, there have been noblemen and kings/queens who were of French origin and who even conducted all of their business in French while living in Britain for decades, there's nothing surprising if you think about it. Nobody (to my knowledge) ever said Corvus Lestrange was a Frenchman living in France. He obviously was living in Britain and given how the Lestrange family kept ties with other British wizarding families (see how Bellatrix Black married into the Lestrange family) that's the only logical conclusion... (Especially if you also take language into account, Lestrange (as a family name) seems to come from L' (which is short for "le" or "la" = the) and "estrange" which is the old French spelling for "étrange" (yup, in modern French the accent has replaced the S, so that name is old and has been taken to Britain before the apparition of the changed spelling, that's the most likely story, étrange = weird, unusual)
she was sent to America did your teacher miss that and I guess ilvermorny didn't want her lol
@@DieezahArts In the movie they said he was living in Paris, that's where it didn't make sense and half house elf was back in Paris too after the boat story so yeah it is weird. If we follow the initial book, he lived in britain but JK changed so many things in terms of timeline, etc to make this movie so still.
In addition to what I said earlier, even if in the movie the info seems to be contradictory, I must add that in wealthy families, it wasn't uncommon for people to send their children in schools outside their own countries... So even with this "but in the movie they said", it still doesn't make it unbelievable or weird that Leta went to Hogwarts and not Beauxbatons. Besides, if I haven't said it before, he did live in Paris at one time, it doesn't mean he did at the time she was is shown going to Hogwarts... People are just looking for more things to be picky about than the obvious canon violations present in the film, just because they want to feel in control of the narrative... Sorry, but the same way the Malfoys did consider sending Draco to a foreign school because of what they believed was best for him, there's nothing anywhere saying magical children have to go to school in their home country (or have to go at all).
Golden Bacon Harry Potter club?
Excellent video as always! I know you’ve said that Lord Voldemort is your favourite character in the franchise but I think it’d be cool if you to share who your other favourites are in the form of a Top 10/15 list. Great way to try something new for your channel.
I love how morgan summarizes everything amazingly in every video
I love Leta so much! There's so many future missed opportunities with her now. But I AM loving that the Slytherin house has a new, non-evil Slytherin. Thanks JK, FINALLY...
i've always thought that leta's " i love you " for newt was more of a " thank you " , while for theseus is was more of an apology. she obviously treasures what she and newt had in the past , but she's an adult - she well knows that that will always be in the past. however , i think she does love theseus in a very different way from how she loved newt. she's sacrificing herself knowing that her and theseus' plans for the future will never come to light - the wedding , possible children , grandchildren etc. she also knows that theseus has been through a lot ( the war, the family issues ) and that her leaving will ( initially ) be a heavy demon for him. i think callum ( theseus' actor ) summed it up perfectly :
“ you get the fact that there’s a deep love between [ theseus and leta ] and a connection in a completely different way than how newt and leta love. theseus and leta are opposites, whereas newt and leta are very similar. theseus offers her support and love and acceptance and stability in a way that newt was never able to ; theirs was always more of a companionship rather than being in love. ”
“ objectively speaking , i think she’s saying it to both of them. theseus would think that she’s speaking to him, and newt would think that she’s speaking to theseus. her love for newt is just as strong as her love for theseus, and vice versa, just in a different way. it’s heartbreaking that she goes. ”
sorry, but who on earth disliked this?
ME, I do not like this movie!

FLIPENDO!!
joe skys then why’d ya click on it?
Again, it's all just theory and subjectivity, because we've been shown very little details about TheseLeta relationship, so we don't know anything about how they met and how they behaved alone with each other. With the same probability, I can assume that after many years Leta grew up and was able to love Theseus, but Newt is a past she doesn't want to part with, a close friend from a past she doesn't want to lose.
Personally, I think the dimensionality of J.K.Rowling’s other characters and their relationships makes it likely that she loved both brothers. Newt because of their childhood friendship and love but also Theseus because they grew to love one another as adults and more evolved versions of themselves. With Theseus, she got a more stable and dependable life than she had growing up, which would not have been possible for her with Newt and thus, as much she had a sense of shared camaraderie with Newt, Theseus was who she could see herself spending the rest of her life with.
This is one of the best videos on youtube that I've ever watched. Thank you very much.
Okay I absolutely love with how much detail and clarity this video was made and that’s why you’re one of my fave UA-cam channels. And another thing, your theory about Leta saying I Love You to Newt in the end makes a lot of sense and is also to an extent probably true, I personally feel she said I Love You to them both. Reasons she said that to Newt you already stated and why I think she said it to Theseus too is because, although newt was such a significant part of her life at hogwarts and made her feel accepted and loved, Theseus probably meant a great deal to her to in her adult life. Since she lost her connection with Newt in later life after school, (so did Theseus and they maybe even bonded over that idk just a thought) Theseus was there for her and even though much details of their relationship weren’t elaborated in the movie, they both seemed to deeply care for and loved one another and were truly happy and connected. So yeah I think that both the Scamander brothers meant a great deal to Leta and at different times in her life, helped her in ways others nor she could herself. And that’s just my theory tbh
In English "I love you" could be to both of them, because "you" is used as a plural too. I think she loved them both.
Plus Newt was feeling something for Tina... So I think the love between Newt and Leta was a platonic love... It was strong, but it wasn't that strong to became more as a mature relationship
I cried a lot when she died! I was sad for more than 2-3 days because I really liked her and the actress did an amazing job!
You never met a monster you couldn’t love. That’s statement is waaay too sad. I feel and understand her pain. Poor girl to carry that kind of weight around. I really wish for a much happier ending for her.
Lita’s bully in the movie goes to my school 🏫😂😂
Really?
I like the theory about Leta saying “I love you” to Newt and I had my own reason for it which was that Leta knew she was going to die and the least she could do is tell her CHILDHOOD love that she loved him.
Someone finally mentioned what I’ve been saying. Angelina married George Bc of Fred
"Your Eyes Like a Salamander"
ee kenny pffffft. I’m sorry that’s hilarious.
I can just listen to your voice for hours. I Love your channel!
It doesn't matter who she said it to, although it was probably Newt. What is important is that she established the fact that she was acting out of love. Also, she didn't "hold Grindelwald off". Although she kept her wand pointed at him, she made no attempt to defend herself. She didn't cast a spell after smashing the skull. She sacrificed herself for the others after Grindelwald had offered her her life. Compare that with Lily's sacrifice for baby Harry.
The protection her sacrifice gave the others enabled them to apparate safely to the cemetery. Until that point the flames had been killing all of the aurors who tried to disapparate. She knew what she was doing. When Grindelwald turned on her she told the others to go. She knew that it would now be safe for them to do so.
She probably felt that she had little left to live for anyway. The guilty secret she had kept all of her life was out, and any lingering hopes that she might still have had about a future that still somehow included Newt were over. She had seen that he was with Tina now.
I agree with some people that Leta's "I love you" was meant for both Theseus and Newt.
But I feel like the phrase has a different meaning to each of them separately.
For Theseus, she definitely loved him romantically since he showed his sincere love towards her despite the opinions and criticism held against her. She accepted and adored him because Theseus admired her for who she was, regardless of his status of being praised/looked up to while being judged by peers, which proved his love unconditional. Unlike Newt’s condition, Theseus had demonstrated Leta the definition of “I’d pick you over and over again” given his position and reputation, among all other people, he chose Leta-something no one would have done for her under any circumstances before.
She was a taker and Theseus was a giver, they balance off each other well.
Also, based on her character, it seems she would not let herself marry nor get close to someone she did not feel like befriending.
Theseus was the man she fell in love with.
However, there were more layers and complexity in Newt's case. The love she had for Newt was more in-depth, it kind of surpassed any kind of friendships or bonds that no words are enough to describe.
Given that when they first met they were both considered outcasts, their relationship started off dependent on each other. At that time Leta might feel like she had a crush on him, which was due to them being the only person that understood each other and they were inseparable. They only got each other, they were each other’s ‘only choice’. During those days if any of them confessed, they might end up together, but more like the kind of blushful teenage crush.
But as they grew, their relationship remained ambiguous probably due to the fact that they had started becoming exposed to the world and to more people. Adulthood started washing away their reliance toward each other, which left them with only the unforgettable memories they shared together, thus causing this feeling of regarding one another their ‘regretful first love’.
After falling in love with Theseus, she would gradually realise that all those years she and Newt had got each other’s back like siblings, maybe even closer, like soulmates, but it would be best if they both keep their close connection platonically. During the period when Newt had befriended new friends like Jacob and Queenie, especially Tina, he would probably realise the same.
Though Leta seemed to be a bit jealous of Tina when seeing Newt with her, this would be normal as she had been the only girl who was significant for him since the beginning, and now another woman had seemingly taken her place.
Newt was an important friend that she could not live without.
Now to the moment when she decided to sacrifice herself for the Scamander brothers, she finally expressed her love openly once and for all. The ‘love’ she addressed to Theseus was of adoration and passion, whereas to Newt, it was full of gratitude and appreciation.
(But yea these are only my thoughts ahaha. And thank you to whoever that has read the whole thing~)
Just got out of the cinema watching Fantastic Beasts:The crimes of Grindelwald and you uploaded this.....BEST DAY EVER!!!!
That accident on the boat was so tragic. He was just a young boy. 😭
Damn, Leta Lestrange is a great character.... didn't see that one coming. I don't get why people think the movie wasn't good... Leta herself makes it even great!
Leta, Dumbledore, Newt, Tina and Grindelwald were the only good things in this movie.
Im not saying I disagree with your argument, because you make a good one, but I would posit that she loved both of them. There are different kinds of love, so whether she felt romantic love for one and brotherly love for the either, she could have said it to both of them and meant it differently for each. That's how I interpreted it, that she was talking to both.
IMO, newt was Leta's first love indeed. And in her last words "you're too good newt, you've never met a monster you couldn't love." Was sort of her amazement to the point of admiration about newt's good-natured character of loving the beasts and monsters he met including herself as she refers to herself as a monster. So in respect to J.K Rowling's writings as shown to the movie which I've seen twice, I think Leta did fell inlove for newt's brother theseus eventually in the end. The awkwardness was ofcourse about how newt sacricice himself being expelled for a friend he deeply was concerned about. And they referred to their teenage chemistry as the could've beens as most of us have experienced that sort of scenarios nearly like that. They've talked for closure. #justsaying but nice to hear your opinion. This was just mine. Theseus was her last.
