    It's worth noting that a lot of Native Americans have French surnames. Dubois, Pappan, Lafayette, etc because of the influence of French fur traders in the 1600-1800s. I would argue that there were magicals in the LeStrange family for 2 generations prior to Corvus and Cyril but they are shown as the start because, if I recall, "pureblood" is considered at least 2 previous generations were magical. Thus, Corvus and Cyril would have then been the first "purebloods" in that family after losing the status by being descended from squibs. Additionally, as Martha was a squib, it would explain the lack of Parseltongue ability as it is a magical ability that I would doubt you would pass along if you yourself are not magical.

    • @a.r11384
      @a.r11384 3 роки тому +33

      Who’s to say Corvus and Cyril didn’t just start lying about their pure bloodedness. As for rules, that go back to 2 generations prior, we have seen through HP books that people can just lie about their blood status so perhaps the Le’stanges just started lying about their blood status and continued marrying other ‘pure bloods to keep it going

    • @nightleopard13
      @nightleopard13 3 роки тому +20

      Wouldn't you still be pureblood if you came from two fully magical families? Think about it: a squib might not be able to do magic, but Martha would still be a half-blood and we're only told that the ASSUMPTION is that squibs have a muggle parent. So her grandkids could technically be purebloods even if they're all squibs, it'd just be an embarrassing thing to talk about.
      Also remember, Neville's family thought he was a squib and we know both of his parents were magical, which means you don't need muggle blood to BE a squib.

      @@nightleopard13 unless magical ability gets passed down through genes then you would need your squib or muggle parents to at least have the carrier genes. like hermionie's parents could be carrier but as far as I know, JK never fully explained how magical abilities pop up amongst squibs or muggle borns. SCB should do a theory video on this

    • @nightleopard13
      @nightleopard13 3 роки тому +7

      @@a.r11384 I agree.
      I suspect it's genetic due to Newt Scamander's comment to Jacob about how Jacob's muggle physiology makes him more prone to physical damage. (Also diseases don't appear to pass between muggles and wizarding kind; plus both have completely separate genetic conditions) This implies magical beings (wizards/witches) are a distinct subspecies to humans and that speciation was prevented by a reoccurence of interbreeding due to wizarding kinds general lack of fecundity. Meaning, wizard's produce less children resulting in bloodlines dying off and thus a smaller genetic pool. So, they breed with muggles to prevent "Gaunts".

      Actually the thing of magic "genes" aren't studied at all, i mean, in the books is presented like there is no such thing and any pair of muggles can just give birth to a wizard just like 2 wizards can give birth a squib, but maybe there's more than that.

    • @SJ-wk7js
      @SJ-wk7js 3 роки тому +10

      Isn’t the idea that for squibs the magic genes are there just turned off (likely due to epigenetics), so all muggle borns are descendants of wizards just a mutation occurred that reactivated the magic genes.

    • @robertgronewold3326
      @robertgronewold3326 3 роки тому +20

      @@SJ-wk7js Well, the way genes like that work is not mutation, but two genes meeting again. Say if you look at people who have very rare genetic conditions, such as dwarfism. What happens is that the the two people who have met and reproduced are in fact related. Usually it's not close, and many people are not aware of it, but just imagine that a couple have the same great, great, great, great grandmother, quite a distantly removed relative, and the dormant gene then gets two copies which make it a dominant gene. So most muggleborns would very likely have a squib ancestor, possibly the same ancestor in some cases, and the gene resurfaces and you end up with a wizard.

    If Martha married another squib then they are more likely to produce a magical child. However if the reason for the squibdom has a magical cause to it then the magic gene will continue to remain recessive, however it will make sure that it is passed on, until the magical cause has run its course, so that it can then become dominant again.
    Although the same thing may happen if the reason for the squibdom is from anomalies associated with inbreeding.

    Well there is a bit more to the distinction of crows and ravens than size. Ravens tent to be larger yes but also have fan shaped tails as opposed to crows that are typically more flat tipped. Ravens are also capable of unpowered flight or gliding/souring at least much more easily than crows which have to use powered flight to stay airborne. That is crows have more trouble flying if they arent also flapping. Relative beak size, throat plumage. Very similar birds but distinct. Hey Brothers, always great to hear your theories. This theory of Dumbledore's half-brother turning into a phoenix has a hole. Kendra is not a Dumbledore. She is a muggle-born who marries Dumbledore's father. Therefore, a son of Kendra with Corvus would not have Dumbledore's blood. I like the homunculus theory better!!!

    Their wing feathers are different, their tails are different, their neck feathers are different, their beaks and beak feathers are different. They make vastly different noises. Crows are generally found in large packs while Ravens are typically only found in packs of 3-4.

If the ability jumps the only other magical child of Isolt Syre because she is a squib, how do we know how it passes on. For all we know it could be in the blood…just activated by the magical ability. So therefore I would say all the magical Lestranges could or should be able to speak parseltongue, but they don’t. I mean yes your theory would explain the lack of the ability, but we need more information of the inheritance of the ability to say for sure.

    Heir and descendant are not synonymous. Descendants are the blood relatives that come after you through the direct line. An heir is merely the person who inherits your stuff. An heir doesn't even have to be related to you, or even a person. If you leave your estate to charity, the charity becomes your heir. Voldemort isn't Slytherin's heir because of the bloodline. He's the heir because he inherited his ability to speak parseltongue and his mission to get rid of Muggle-borns.
