If a band doesn't come from one of Finns favorite music scenes he doesn't understand how anyone can see them as legit. All Midwest bands are racist republicans making music that only racist republicans enjoy. Also if a band doesn't have any roots or ties to punk then they can not be considered real musicians. Therefore European (besides death metal) and Asian bands (besides pop) are really just posing. Why are they even playing real instruments when they can't name 10 American punk bands?

Did you realize, that most Europeans don't even see themselves as "Europeans"? Luckily there's you to remind everybody of the circumstances.
Another fun fact: England is the only f'n place in Europe, were they prefer tea. In Asia they love it too. Ever heard of Italy (also Europe) and their coffee culture?
Yes, the European rap parts you showed were kinda cringe, but there is good stuff French banlieue (ghetto) rap is as real as it gets and German rapper Samy Deluxe has real skill.
To complete the circle. The best f'n guitarists come from Southern Spain (also Europe), gypsys playing flamenco. Compared to their skills every metal band is straight up kindergarten.

    Unrelated:
Did you know that the arguably BEST NU METAL ALBUM actually came from South Korea?
It is 'Ultramania' by Seo Taiji.
Finn, I know you'll enjoy the drumming a lot, drums were actually played by Josh Freese and Heff "The Machine" Holter, and they are fat as fuck!! The drums, I mean 😂
Seo Taiji is a music legend in Korea, everybody knows him there. He did everything from pop to this super heavy Nu Metal and is still active.
The lyrics deal with the frustration of the youth with the "stifling education system and lackluster economic perspective" (Wikipedia), so the guy actually had something to say as well.
Anyone who wants to give it a spin, make sure it's the re-recorded version from 2003 The cover is a completely red sun center left on black background, NO yellow or orange, that is the old and inferior version. Yes, this is one of the rare cases where re-recording actually made it better. There is a playlist on the channel "Seo Taiji - The Essential Seo Taiji".
    Top 3 songs imo:
    - Internet war (musically most interesting)
    - Feel the soul (heaviest)
    - Orange (dang cool riff, more hiphop influence)
Lukewarm take: If more people had done Nu Metal as well as Seo Taiji, the genre wouldn't have been shat on even half as much.
    Cheers everybody!

Last week I had an awfully frustrating and unnecessary discussion about ec's name change with some dude I met in a suburban youth center (the type of place you have to expect to get involved into this sort of situation). Defending their decision by mostly pleading for empathy and change of perspective to the inuit people's all he had to say that its just cancel culture and me being woke (though he didnt knew me like 15 minutes before) and after i decided to leave to catch my train he yelled after me that he's "not afraid" of calling them by their old name. I still was pissed off about that days after this evening. I just couldnt get over that so easily because i was so frustrated that there are people out there (especially in the metal scene) where it doesnt matter, how valid your point is and how calm you are, because all they do is yelling irrational stuff at you and not even listen to what you're saying.

The guy defending should of just walked away instead of get mad at you, I don't get the decision either but the emotions surrounding the name change are super toxic so asking to find out is a no go, Their name was fine for how long before now, and the inuit people's organization or whatever never spoke up with it being a problem ever so why? I mean good for them for cashing in their morality chips/ points to look good and then seem even better changing without anyone asking or complaining to take advantage of the times but whatever, its 2022 previously minor things are now 100 times bigger, and bigger picture is now small. I don't get it at all so I will just walk away and support from a distance or find a band I better understand and connect with as getting into it over something as meaningless and small as a bands name is dumb we can both disagree to agree and move on with our lives respectfully, quickly and efficently
Hopefully, this helps show the opposite perspective, its not malicious just confusion, annoyance, and then indifference though most get stuck on the annoyance part of human response

Eskimo in itself is not a slur. The Eskimo are an Alaskan Native people. However, there's also Yupik, Tlingit, Athabaskan, and about 30 other tribes where Eskimo for some reason became a catchall. It'd be like calling all Lower 48 Native Americans Cherokee. So, there's that. The other issue is, much like the South Dakota Fighting Sioux, Native Americans shouldn't be your mascot. It's dehumanizing. And credit to Electric Callboy for not being assholes about when it was brought to their attention.

i´m on board with almost 95% of what you usually say BUT ignorance is saying that about europeans and rap...Actually most european languages are more rich and diverse than English by far...I am Spanish, I sing in English in my Punk band because I can speak it fluently and it sounds better for my ears but not with rap, dude...at the end all urban music worldwide comes in some way from rap and most relevant urban music nowadays is in Spanish so...i love you Finn but you have to stop those boomer opinions dude because they make you look funny and not in a good way

More like I'd show the hypa hypa music video to someone who's never heard of them and be like, aren't they quirky and funny? And then after 1 and a half songs it's not that funny anymore and we listen to something else we actually like. Bloodhound Gang make mostly joke/goofy songs but I could listen to their albums on repeat and not get sick of them. But these guys, 1 song is my limit and I have to listen to something else.

i dont understand, why would he rap in english when hes german? rap especially is so dependent on the flow and pronounciation thats its just completely different in every language and if he doesnt normally rap in english (he doesnt), then id say itd be a pretty bold and probably bad move to suddenly change your whole language and flow for one song lmao :D im pretty sure youre joking in all the stuff youre saying here, at least i hope so - "europeans and rap doesnt work" is such a weird take considering theres extremely popular rap music in, im assuming, every european language other than english as well, there certainly in in german... O.O but i do get it is weird to hear rap in a language you dont understand - its hard to connect with anything rap is about after all; the lyrics, the flow, the culture specific references... i mean, these guys basically got extremely popular in the last year and a half by combining metalcore and...scooter, the german rave band. idk for me thats the coolest motherfucking thing ever lmao
