There was an open casting call for this video in March 2004 in Iowa. I would have gone (I lived close enough), but I was cast in the college musical “Once Upon a Mattress” and had 2 shows that day. No regrets, the musical was fun to do and a lot of them look really cold, so it’s all good.

Warrant wrote "Cherry Pie" in just a few hours because the label wanted them to write "a hit" for the album. Whether or not they "had" to do it is an open question, but it is possible their album could've gotten shelved if the label didn't like it.
I actually like the song, as well as a bunch of other Warrant songs, but I do agree that video is downright awful. It's too bad Warrant didn't have success after this album, because Jani Lane was a phenomenal songwriter and had a great voice right up until the end. RIP Jani Lane who would've been 58 years old today.

It seemed like he actually cared deeply about artistry and his heart just couldn't take becoming a joke like this.

Danzig came into a record store in Phoenix, AZ years ago and flipped shit yelling at the store clerk because they had bootleg Misfits 7"s in the used vinyl section. They were Czech Republic made knockoffs that had probably been sitting there gathering dust since before that clerk even worked there. That's some record store clerk lore that has been going around for years. Coincidentally this happened around the time when Danzig got punched out, in that infamous clip that everyone has seen. I think Slipknot did really fucking good job during the Vol. 3 era, I love all the videos. As you said, Duality captured the band's relationship with their fans. Before I Forget was like watching a rehearsal, taking away the masks and close ups of them playing were cool (I can vividly remember the shot of Joey stomping on the pedals). And then it was the Vermilion, I think it is a great piece of cinematography. The women with super animated and jerky movements with world around her going super fast just sets this creepy, tragic and yet somehow sensual mood.
Other than that I don't really care about the music videos really. Usually I really like the live videos, especially for bands that are known for their energy live such as Happiness Is A Smile by TDEP or ETID's The Coin Has A Say. I think it is way more important for a band when releasing an album to keep the same mood or style - for example I liked Vein.fm's videos from Errorzone having that mutilated guy going through some bizzare 'evolution'.

And since UA-cam puts almost all your videos from this channel on my feed. I didn’t even realize I wasn’t subbed ! And I’m a huge punk rock MBA fan so that’s why they show me this content. But there are other content creators with second Channels that I never knew about cause they were never in my feed.
Lol I’m glad UA-cam likes you cause I love this content! BTW. I subbed right as soon as I realized love your content man. Especially when talking about pop punk and hardcore and stuff, sometimes I feel like my words are coming out of your mouth. Only worded better haha.
    Keep it up.

And then Motherless Miscarriage is...well, let's just say daring. Can't think of any other metal bands who would be willing to do a video like that.

Damn I like Danzig, lol. I totally get the cringe factor and "boring blues jam band" vibe at times. How The Gods Kill, Twist of Cain, Dirty Black Summer, Long Way Back From Hell, Devil's Plaything, Her Black Wings, Left Hand Black....... all classics. I guess a majority of the albums are a pass though.
And Finn, didn't Danzig "do what he set out to do?" LOL I'm making the case :D

Can you maybe do a video on bands from the early thousands that sound like Heavy Heavy Low Low? Cause as a teen, there was this small venue in the suburbs and I swear heavy heavy low low was on the bill all the time when Skronky hardcore would play there…which was a lot. Mostly deathcore back then but even bands like the blood brothers played with HHLL. You talked about that new scene that sounds like those bands (see you space cowboy) but I couldn’t really find a video that is just strictly about that 03-09 dirty Scene core bands. There was. Band called Me and him call it us back then. And they were one of the heaviest screamo bands ever with just two people. (HHLL also played with them at the venue lol )
Also, maybe a video about Steve Albini and his impact on underground music production, all the way to how Steve Albini directly effected that 2010s “death wish core” as I call it, but all the Kurt ballou recordings that he used Steve’s kind of philosophy of just trying to capture the actual sound in the room, but applied it to all the deathwish stuff with Jacob.
    Sorry for the long essays.

A little tidbit about the Warrent video, another reason he really hated this song was because this song wasn’t a song that they had written for the album. They had already finished the album and they were really proud of the album as it was and the record company came back and basically said they wanted them to make a catchy cheesy song that they could make a video of . So they really never wanted to even make this song they were kind of threatened by the record label and were told if they didn’t make a song like this that the album wasn’t going to be released so it took them about three days to write this song and they recorded it and the record company loved it and it became the lead single and that was the only song they were known for after that.

Suicidal Tendencies is hella underrated and Join the Army is an awesome album. And I have to agree on Danzig. There are a couple of good songs but the rest of it is not as heavy as it should be. He has a lot of fans tho so he's obviously done something right.

From 1990-1994, Pantera did great albums with some awesome riffs. 1990 was the last good year for Hair Metal like Warrant. Especially when you have video vixens like Bobbi Brown in the Cherry Pie video. Here's an amusing thought: I've got a bit of nostalgia for 80s Hair Metal & absolutely love Slipknot as well. I can honestly say that I'm a fan of Avenged Sevenfold. Got 3 of their albums.

Slipknots duality video/song was my gateway into metal. I had heard metal and screaming vocals but i didn't like it. But duality was more pop, had a good chorus, and the screaming wasn't as aggressive as some that I'd heard. So i checked out more of the music, and slowly discovered more bands, and got heavier and heavier over time. Love that song for that reason

since it was a huge studio production... he passed because the band was too active at the time. He didnt wanna take the time away.

Bro ADTR wrote 2nd sucks about Four Year Strong touring with them and getting super upset for getting moved out of headline spot because of fan demand/label sayso. There’s a lot more nuance to the story that I don’t recall.
I’m pretty sure it had to do with the tour happening during “Homesick”‘s release; hence ADTR being suddenly huge enough to justify the spot move
