      I lost an adult nephew that involved fentanyl. It almost would have been easier if he had died as a result of his addiction to alcohol. I have to believe he didn’t know it was fentanyl laced meth.
      He was found dead in his apartment by myself and his friends. The responders had to treat it as a hazmat situation. The policewoman assigned to me said they had lost officers who accidentally came into bare skin contact and died. The responders had as well.
      I fully agree that manufacturers and dealers should be charged with murder. Yes, he was a drug addict, but they knew it was fentanyl.

    • @DailyTv22
      @DailyTv22 2 місяці тому

      It really isn’t that bad. If someone who is opioid naive takes fentanyl then yea they are going to OD. But if you already have a high fentanyl tolerance then you would be perfectly fine. It’s just people taking 1 drug and it ends up being something else. And that’s what is dangerous.

    Thank you Sheriff Lamb for all you do. I am a retired police officer and Drug Recognition Expert. Fentanyl was just coming on the scene when I retired. I truly believe we need to extend compassion and help to people addicted to drugs but likewise need to have no mercy on those who sell this poison. My deepest sympathies to your guest.

Perhaps it would avert a few future tragedies from happening. As Danya says, don't take anything where you don't know what it is or where it came from. Even prescription bottles can be faked.

    • @darekcosta3819
      @darekcosta3819 4 місяці тому

      Stronger laws? How about better education. Nobody forces you to consume illegal drugs. “My daughter said she would never do something like this- that she wasn’t that stupid.” Regardless of the laws in place, there will always be illegal drugs. (And this goes for basically any law) It up to us to educate ourselves of the dangers that are out there so we can protect ourselves. Education is the only solution

  • @pappywhiz
    @pappywhiz 8 місяців тому +4

    I feel so bad for this lady. But I think it’s so good where she and the law can have a conversation about this without trying to blame one another. No voices raised. Just a calm and cool conversation about the problem. I really, really wish the D.A.R.E. Program was put back into the schools. I remember my kids were in it and they loved the officers and the program. I would say that, that was probably the most beneficial piece of education that could be taught in school. Bless you both.

      Up here in Canada, police were removed from schools because simply seeing police officers made Red/Brown/Black students feel uncomfortable. Such BS, sometimes learning is supposed to be uncomfortable. We are supposed to be inclusive and all learn to live together in peace, what does excluding the police from schools say about that message? No cops in schools, but cross dressing people reading to our kids in libraries is just fine.

    I’m so sorry for your loss, I know your pain. I lost my 22 yr old son to fentanyl & carafentanyl poisoning in 2016. He had a 2 yr addiction to heroin, started with pain pills after a work injury, he’d been in treatment & clean for 6 months. He left behind his wife, who passed 5 years later from addiction & at the time his son was only 4. We adopted his son right after he passed & he’ll be 12 in a couple weeks. I’m in the Metro Detroit area & Brad’s case is an active but basically a cold case.

    I'm sorry for your loss. As a parent I feel compassion for you and your family. I am a recovering addict. I've been clean for close to 9 years. I hate drugs. I lost my best friend to fentanyl and I thank God I'm not dead. Even with that hate I still understand and believe that the solution to the opioid crisis or "war on drugs" is to legalize and regulate the drugs supply. Fentanyl is a direct result of drug prohibition.

    Fentanyl still is a valid drug. My father was on a fentanyl patch the last few years of his life. Fentanyl can help with breathing issues. Not that there were no concerns associated with them. I supplemented his care quite a bit. Twice within a short period of time his patch went missing. And people were looking at the various employees. Who knows, they may have been wondering about me. Part of my care was doing his laundry and when I did a load after this happened I found two patches after they went through the wash. I still handled them with care and brought them into the facility. They were relieved, as was I, and they made sure that notes were added to his care to be very careful of placement of the patches and care for him when changing him. He never lost a patch again.
    As to the case here, it is sad that the lives of drug addicts are not valued as much as the lives of others. The dealer's sentence was far too short. Ten years would have been too short. Twenty, maybe.

    • @buster2303
      @buster2303 8 місяців тому

      Sadly it is not only happening to addicts. In Hannah's case, she wasn't an addict. It is happening to people that are experimenting with drugs. The cartels have one mission and that is to addict the customer.
      Pharmaceutical fentanyl does work, I had to use it for surgery. But must be prescribed by a doctor/Anesthesiologist. Our kids don't deserve to die at the hand of another person. They are literally being deceived to death. This is not overdose, it is murder.

      When I was 17 they put me on the patches for my back pain and I remember them explaining to my mother that she could not touch it in anyway it would kill her instantly. The reason they were able to give it to me is because my body is used to opioids from being given them for pain. I’m no longer on any of it I avoid them with everything I can I deal with my pain daily but do not want to be addicted.

    Awesome discussion.
    Thank you both.
    Heartbroken by the comments section.
    PLEASE do not swamp yourself with guilt forever.
    Yes, it is natural to think ‘what if I …’.
    But it was they who decided how much input they would allow you in their life.
    Often at that stage you are just trying to maintain a connection of any sort,
    knowing that if you push to hard they will run a mile.
    The case above however is straight out murder.
    I am very sad that I lost my angel, but now feel I was
    SO lucky I had her in my life.
    May you all forgive yourselves and find inner peace.

    I was addicted to pain pills for most my late 20s and up to my mid 30s. Addiction is a dark place and completely consumes your life from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep , if you can sleep. I do not wish this on anyone and was lucky enough to have a grandmother that never gave up on me or stopped praying for me, she saved my life and didn't know it. But we all know that won't happen but the majority are saying it's what should happen. Fentanyl , when misused, is a deadly drug. I would urge any parent to have their children watch what happens openly on the streets of the Kensington area in Philly (under the averted eyes of Law enforcement officers) and see what becomes of these sad, helpless addicts. I came across "MORALS OVER MONEY" on UA-cam, a channel run by a wonderful recovered addict, who cares deeply about these people on the streets. I was horrified to discover that what I was watching was real life and not a "mad max" episode. It was horrendous to watch but should deter anyone from ever risking the ingestion - knowingly or accidentally - of this evil substance. Governments throughout the country need to see what is happening and stamp it out post haste.

    Lost a good friend to this stuff. He thought it was regular "dope" and it turned out to be Fentanyl. Went to sleep and never woke up. I was so disappointed when I got the message.
    I know we need painkillers for surgery and pain management. Ive needed them before. But this stuff is TOO strong. Its too much.
    If you struggle with opioid addiction, theres a way out. You can get help with Suboxone and therapy. You can quit this poison. Life is so much better when your brain is clear.

    This is so sad. I graduated high school in 72. The worst we had to deal with was contaminated weed, and various hallucinogens, downers, and speed. (I didn't partake of any of those except a bit of weed my first year of college). The pills that were around were (as far as I know) legitimate and not counterfeit with all kinds of unknown ingredients.

    I hate saying this but what kind of parent lets their 16 year old daughter’s boyfriend live with them? My parents wouldn’t even let me have a drivers license until I turned 18. This lady’s story should prove that most of the time nothing good can come out of that type of living arrangement. It sounds like the parents were trying to be their daughter’s “best friend” instead of being parents. 🤦🏿‍♂️ sad really

    STRONG woman, I understand her sadness and frustration (6 years nonsense) and at the same time strength to talk about it. Not knowing why her daughter did it, by herself?, and if so feeling that she was lied to and murdered.
    Often I think: No one forces Americans to do drugs all the time or fentanyl. Like no other country.
    All know how deadly it is or can be…but…do it anyway.
    If you blame „drug use“ on dealers…does that mean you blame „murder with a gun“ on the weapon seller? I guess no. But:
    TO SOLVE THIS HUGE PROBLEM I think I stop blaming most of the people taking it, often not knowing what they really buy, because there are lots of reasons why people do it. And I understand or think about the anger and sadness of all these parents and brothers/sisters and therefore I support law enforcement in total. Border, both parties same mistakes, and going after big and small dealers completely different with murder charges in every case fentanyl in involved.

    its insane the amount of people on here blaming people who take the drugs. Yes there are some people who just take drugs to take them and know full well what their doing, but the VAST majority are like this, introduced to drugs by a friend or boyfriend and try to be innocent and take “just 1” but as a former percocet user, a 16 year old with no tolerance and a small body/fast metabolism who takes a 30mg perocet has a chance of going into cardiac arrest, some people like myself had an accident in high school, went to doctors until i was 19 these “doctors” prescribed me pain medication, thats how they worded it to me “take the pain meds and do the therapy” i was 19 and had NO knowledge of drugs or addiction, the worst drug i had at that point in life was beer, I got hooked, wound up leaving the clinic and buying the pills off the street because i couldnt be sick. Thank GOD i got out right before the Fentanyl boom and got my life together in 2019. I understand that people have freewill and willingly put things into their bodies, but dont blame the users, its lack of knowledge and empathy and support in this country that are leading to cases just like this one.

      The reason drugs keep coming across the border has nothing to do with Biden. 90% of drug traffickers are US citizens (aka legal status). So forcing people to come in legally won’t solve that problem. And they just find sneaky ways to get the drugs in. The border patrol simply cannot catch every single one of them. I don’t do any drugs nor do I support drug dealing, I’m just saying these drug cartels will always just keep finding newer and better ways to get the drugs over to America, cause that’s just what criminals do.
