The saw is coming together nicely. The 031 starters are a bit suspect, as my 031 was taken out of service because the pawl springs were broken and bent. New parts were not available, and it took me a couple of months to find some decent springs and pawls.. I finally got mine working, and the 031's are a real nice small saw. I have used mine a fair amount. It bugs me about how hard it is to find parts for older STIHL's though. Challenges, challenges !
Thanks for posting this. I bartered for an old 032 and didn’t realize how old it was. Found an AV bushing kit on eBay, needed a clue on how to install ‘em.
I followed this step by step and couldn't be more pleased. I would have liked more detail on reassembly of the chain sprocket, but i figured it out. I would add that the air cleaner splits apart and never needs replacement, just cleaning. Also that impulse line is a real pain to reassemble and a rubber fuel line makes an easy replacement. I don't think the impulse line carries fuel, only vacuum. Not sure
Cool i just bought one of those old 031 broken parts here and there so im going to take it down and sell of the parts its hard to find the crankcase covers for a good buck . Youve Got a cool Channel i Tinker some with older Husqvarnas and sell just to get by . Regards Paul-Roger
I learned a lot by watching you video. My old 031 now runs but won't rev up very well. I need to play with the jets. Do you rebuild carburetors, or where do you find parts for this old beast? I could not find a new carb on line.
Hi, i have a question i bought a xl-12 that needed parts. Hard to find parts for these in Norway, but a guy sent a message and had a xl-660. I think this saw is cooler than the xl-12, it needs a new lower handle where the gas and choke is etc. Do you know if the one from the xl-12 fits? And do you know the value of the Xl-660 Automatic? Thanks great videos and keep them up. Greetings from Norway
Hello! You would think the XL12 stuff would fit, not 100% sure but most likely...boy not sure on the value...maybe browse Ebay a bit to get an idea🤔 Thanks for watching Brother!

Thanks man, usually put kits in them, Ebay!😁
thanks for the video' i have one of these; where does the impulse line go? i wish you went into that part.
Thanks Jim, Impulse line just plugs into the base of the cylinder right behind the carb/air box....😊
@@KainKustomGarage thanks!
I have a 031 Steele powersaw. I need points and a condenser for it. Do you have one or know where I can get one.
Should be able to find one on Ebay, that's where I find most of my stuff...😊
