- Today we are are working on A vintage Stihl 011 AV (Anti-Vibe) for my Buddy Visser. She hasn't ran in a few years and needs a once over. We'll break it down and check all systems, Starter, Carburetor, Spark....the basics....then We'll see if She runs and cuts!

Sweet little saw! I've never owned a 011 but the guy that trimmed my trees had one hanging from his tool belt while he climbed from limb to limb like a spider monkey. I was amazed. Every time he pulled the starter rope on his 011, it started first pull. Don't forget to rub some two stroke oil on that J Red.
Thanks man! Yes, very nice little runners! I'll have to try the 2 stroke oil for sure!🤪
That little 011 and case are in minty shape. Nice job dude.
Thanks Jay! Yeah they are good little saws! Love ya man!😉
She is a runner Dan. Great job buddy❤️🌲❤️🌲❤️🌲

Great vid! Thx for sharing. Pro knowledge and breakdowns. Took a few tries to find this and glad I did 😎👍🏼. (Before I tore into it and made a mess lol, first saw I get for 20$. Def needs some love)
Thanks Josh, appreciate it Brother 😉
Great little Stihl. Glad you got her running again. I like the air gun you had on the picnic table!

Came for the tear down, stayed for the dirty talk to the saw.
Haha, appreciate it Brother 😉
Got my hands on one a year ago. Love this little saw and my Mac 160S. Get saw whether on a ladder or climbing👍
For sure man! Great saws 😊
Dan, I enjoy your posts! You know we are cattle Ranchers and Beekeepers in central Mexico. The Martinez ranch sits on 7248ft above sea level. I spent my teenage years there before I came back to the greatest valley of them all. The Big Valley, San Joaquín Valley in California. We have a 1973? STIHL chainsaw. Pops bough it new in Fresno California and took to the ranch. I don't remember the model etc...I'll find out! Good post my friend!
That's Awesome José! Sounds like an Awesome Childhood my Friend! Yeah that would be cool to find out what kind of saw they used there...appreciate you buddy!😊
@@KainKustomGarage Have a great weekend you and the Mrs.

Sweet little saw
😉
That’s a minty little saw
Wish it was mine!😊I'm already in trouble, drug home a bunch more saws today🤪
@@KainKustomGarage perfect lol
She lives to fight another day.
Neat little saws. I don’t see many old Stihls here for sale I think most just keep them.
Thanks man, Yeah they pop up around here once in a while, its crazy how timeless they are, considering its almost 40 years old....😊
Nice video of a great saw. These things are a work of art. My father recently past away. And he gave me his old Stihl 010 AV a while ago.
I'm slowly going through all his tools and restoring them one by one. His old Stihl is next. The oiler doesn't work and apparently part's aren't available.
But usually they just need a good clean. The foam filter clogs them up as they desolve into pieces. Hopefully the diaphragm is still good.
Thank you my Friend, yes great little saw, wish there was a source for the oiler diaphragm for sure....appreciate you Brother!😁
Hey, stupid question, can that diaphragm be replaced with one from something else or can you make one out of a piece of rubber or silicone? I haven't looked at a schematic or the actual part, just spitballing. Another option is a thin coat of E6000 over the cracked rubber- I used some on a little craftsman saw that the fuel line just stuck through a hole into the tank where it leaked. The E6000 seems to be fuel resistant so far so I'm sure bar oil wouldn't affect it. I patched a silver dollar sized hole in the sidewall of a quad tire (I used safety wire to stitch the hole shut first) with a layer of E6000 on both sides of the wall and it held air better than the intact tire. I rode on it for years, it's pretty durable
@@chrisrageNJ I have seen similar diaphragm in pulse carburetors. With a retaining clip. Anything is possible I guess. The part is now available aftermarket. It was an option I was considering.
I'm just going through my father's tools one at a time and restoring them. To original as clean as possible.
I've just finished a restoration on my grandfather's McCulloch D30. Luckily he had a heap of spares. Managed to get the paint scanned and matched perfectly 👌
@northcanterburylogging3039 that's pretty cool, I'm doing much of the same
Sthil 011 av modelo muito bom por sinal , já tive uma
Yeah buddy! Sometimes I'll just squirt some fuel down the carb to help prime it.
Yeah, that's usually what I do but she was being stubborn...lol
I'm gonna try to fix my handmedown saw thanks! Hope it goes as well as your project.
Good luck my friend!😁
Thankyou
You’re welcome 😊
Sweet wish mine been that easy had to pull piston rod bearings fell out not been able or patient enough to complete 😂
Aww man, that sucks....keep at it brother!😊
Well, that one didn't need too much. Gotta get back at my 49SP when it gets warmer out in the garage.
I know right, She's a little Honey! Weather is definitely getting warmer!😊
Love your content 👍I have that saw and a 009 that I need to replace piston ring. There's no marking or stopper to show which direction the ring split/gap should be? Really appreciate any info
Hello, Thanks for the kind words Sir, some saws have a pin that the 2 ends line up with, if not I would say locate the gap where there is no intake or exhaust opening....never had the piston out of one....hope it helps 😊
@@KainKustomGarage you're welcome. I've not seen it before either. All the roller bearings are only held in by friction by the con-rod, which all fall into the crankcase when you pull the cylinder 🫣there is a video of piston replacement on here. I'll find the link and send it over. Wierd setup🤣
Thanks again for your reply. It's all back together. Here's the link I was telling you about.. ua-cam.com/video/NntzSRN2T5E/v-deo.htmlsi=3LPOOXs1YHdIcOgG
real real nice man, so nice to see it run and fucking chipping some wood. I'll be referring to this video I'm sure while getting mine running hopefully.
Ahh hell yeah Brother!😊
a good mechanic, took off covers and blew the thing out before going into the saw. guy loves what he does.
Thanks Marcus, I hate working on dirty stuff!😉👍👍
Wish you had shown putting the diaphragm in rather than an after it was installed shot. There was a gasket shown that isn't obvious which side it went on.
Sorry Jasper, I'll try to get it on the next one...thanks buddy!😊
ha ha that opsy happens to everyone that's not lying.
I know right! tryin to keep it real!😉
Sup Dan, I love my 011 but just noticed it's leaking gas. Gonna see if any lines are jacked. Sucks cause I use this saw on every around house and small stuff. It's a little ripper.
Nice Ted!😉
I'm just starting the video but I hope you go over fuel line routing bc I have one of these and the lines crumbled to the point where I don't know what goes where
Hope it helps Sir!😊
@KainKustomGarage I just went through both of my 011s, I have an 011AV and an 011AVT, one dated 1979 on the air filter lid and one dated 1985. The older dated one is like the one you are working on in the video (the '85 has a slightly different handle layout), and I got one running and cutting after watching your video. I got all the parts online for cheap but I'm not impressed with the quality so it's just good thing I have 3 extra now. The saw I have like yours has a walboro(?) carb so I have to get a different kit but all the fuel and vent lines are changed and I had it running under full throttle. I came back to your video to look again before I tackle it tomorrow but I think I just need to purge the lines. Thanks again, great video
That saw cleaned up nice and runs great. Mr. Poo the Poolan Wild Thing , 42cc, thinks it can match the performance, what do you think ?
Hmmm.....I think He may keep up withMr Stihl!😊
Would be a fun comparison .@@KainKustomGarage
hey brother you got a resource for a new clutch drum sprocket and needle bearing for this saw? havin a hard time gettin a hold of one. Stihl ain't gonna offer one, the saw was built in 80-82, how about aftermarket? Oregon, Stens? had to return an Amazon version already
Hey Marcus, The only place I've been able to find stuff is on Ebay, I'm still looking for an oil pump diaphragm for this one as well....🤔
@@KainKustomGarage had a long talk with an Oregon technical advisor this morning. Oregon used to make a spur sprocket for the Stihl 011: Oregon#28016X. this part replaced the OEM 7 tooth Stihl sprocket with one that had but 6 teeth. regretably Oregon discontinued this issue, but the Oregon tech went on to give me the phone no. of a saw shop in Iowa that still deals with old inventory. called Frawley's Saw Shop and talked with a gentleman just as helpful as the tech at Oregon. didn't get it cheap, but got it reasonable compared to some of the gouge artists on Ebay. 24.99USD w/ free shipping. had to return a spur sprocket to an Amazon dealer just recently. that aftermarket 7 tooth spur was a quarter inch plus smaller in diameter than original. that woulda seriously affected chain pitch and coupled with the fact that the metal did not look hardened woulda tore that sprocket up. keep doin what you're doin on your channel. always enjoyable
I got the t version mid handle top handle...
Nice Tony!😊
I have that very saw. It's always been a pain to start.
Sorry man, maybe She needs a carb kit?😉
@@KainKustomGarage More than likely, yes. The ignition is funny too..
I have one of these. very good condition and runs great. But it's all orange. How much you think it's worth?
Great little saws, hard to find the diaphragm for the oiler though...probably 100-250 bucks depending on condition...😊
Hi Dan, I am curious about the "stop switch". Looks like it has a clip only and connects to nothing. How can it stop the engine?
Hi, the wire is connected to the actual push button and when it moves forward it grounds it to the saw case....😊
@@KainKustomGarage I don"t see any wire, that is why I asked. Is there any wire hidden inside or behind the case?
That things basically brand new.
Thanks George, She was a low hour Machine for sure!😊
What carb kit?
Not sure Tony, it was some left overs from another kit, you can get them on ebay pretty readily though if you search that model...😊
Bana bu motorun karbüratör ü lazim birde piston ve sekmanlari
too bad for me you didn’t look at the oil pump and outlet port
Sorry man, probably could have done that. The oil pump diaphragm on those is very hard to find, as I have another that needs one...otherwise a pretty straightforward setup...😊
Anyone who says ether is an issue is dumb. It is physically impossible to get a hunk of metal addicted to starting fluid. If its "addicted" it needs carb work
Mine doesn't like to run, especially restart once its warmed up.
The oiler doesn't work on either one of mine.lol
Good luck with them Brother!
