- This is a unboxing and demo of the Annke 8 Channel H 265+ DVR unit that I've recently purchased for a CCTV security system installation. I purchased the 8CH model with no hard drive included as this will be replacing a pair of 4CH existing recorders.
The model number of the recorder is 'DW81KD' and it is part of their 'Soter' series.
This video is an unboxing and basic overview of the recorder unit, box contents and hard drive installation.
I also show how to format the hard drive once installed and the unit is powered up for the first time.
A quick demo of the DVR software concludes the video.
I would have gone into more detail on the setup process, including remote monitoring from Android and iPhone but had little time to record this before the unit needed to be deployed and this will be used entirely offline anyway.
The settings page for remote viewing setup makes mobile phone viewing really easy to configure anyway.
I would recommend a hard drive of at least 1TB if you are using more than a couple of high quality cameras on this recorder unit, otherwise your recording length will be quite short depending on video quality.

Fantastic video! On Amazon the description says it only works with Annke IP cameras so was assured when you said you had it working with another brand. I'm assuming it works with any ONVIF cam. Also didn't know about the surveilance hard drives so ordered one of those rather than a generic one. I'm currently using BlueIris so I'm hoping this will be cheaper to run and means I can put Linux on the server.
Would've been nice to see the mobile app. Ideally I would like to record and receive notifications on certain cameras but only when I'm out of the house so being able to "arm/disarm" is a feature in BlueIris I'm currently using.

Thank you for this excellent breakdown! I did have one question... I'm also not connecting this to the internet however, i'm having issues seeing the live feed. I have gone through this video and basically done all the step. But I don't see any live footage. basically in your video its about 13:46 mark.

Hi cheers for video. To get the motion detection/ even too recod does the recod symbol need to be on full time on the camera . Shows it on the screen seems it then records full time. I only want recording when there is motion
I have my system (DW18KD 8channel) all set up and running but when it shows a bell on the screen as it detected motion, I will go to the playback and it only says "no video found" my hard drive was full so I re initialized it to erase old footage but i still can't get it to playback although the screen is detecting movement.
Hi, i installed same system with 4 cameras a year ago, i recently added another camera but is not showing up. Is there anything i need to do with the settings or should it just come up as soon as is connected? Thanks
What did you do to power it up? Where's the power on switch? Is it turned on as soon as you plug in the power supply?

I bought a house w/ some cameras installed. I watched w/ intent interet on understanding what it would take to hook up existing cameras for use. No mention on what/how the hard drive connects with each camera or how to set-up cameras.

Hello, so I figured out how to have just single camera view with 10 second dwell and they rotate through every 10 seconds. But I cannot figure out when I am in 1:7 view how do you get the cameras to rotate through from smaller view screens to the larger view window while staying in 1:7? If that makes sense. Sorry new to this and helping my elderly F.I.L. THANKS AND CHEERS!
Also this video was great. Could have gone into the expert mode of the menu to show the dwell settings but maybe not necessary for what you were trying to achieve with this video. Thanks again and hope to hear back from ya.
My download of the Annke program on my laptop did not have these initial screens. What is the program you downloaded?
I did not use a laptop at any point in this video. All this video covers is the DVR recording box.

It makes no sense having a dvr with only one audio jack with eight cameras.
Just get a connector, 8 channel into 1.
