- It's summertime (kinda) so it's time to break out the grill and the MAKKARA! This time I'm trying some really interesting flavors of this Finnish favorite!

@Olwydd its *just* a fucking sausage, not some gourmee dish 😂😂 people eat them when they just relax in woods or with group of friends etc, and ppl can put any fucking they want on their sausages. So, shut up.

Huilun tuhti is many Time taste test Winner I think. So maybe you should taste that.

Feta-mustapippuri my favorite for this summer for sure.
You should also try the bit more expensive sausages. For example HK's "Maakarit" brand has excellent selection which I wouldn't include with the types you tasted in this video.
Yes! Maybe another makkara taste test video featuring only raw sausages? (Well after grilling I guess a more proper term would be un-raw sausage 😅)

@@EveliinaN97 In the UK we just call those sausages. The normal Finnish ones we would call poached, hotdogs, or sometimes German sausages (because the ones we get here are usually poached). Many of them are smoked though, so no interesting flavours... We get our flavours in the raw varieties.
Have you tried ''Ryynimakkara''? It's a close relative to mustamakkara but very different.. Make sure to use lingonberry jam ;)

You should try sometimes Yrjö Wigren's Nysä series grill sausages. There's many of them: 1) Nysä - Grill Sausage, 2) Nysä - Cheese Grill Sausage, 3) Nysä - Bratwurst and also two really good ones I have already tried: 4) Nysä - Chili-Cheese and 5) Nysä - Pizza.
The (I believe it's Wilhelm?) Chili-sulatejuusto is the best sausage ever!
Can't go wrong with cheese in a Finnish sausage!

Poppamies jalapeno & cheese, poppamies sriracha makkara are the best ones imo, you gotta try those.
wotkin's makkara are one of the best. since i live in spain i miss a lot finnish sausages as spanish ones are a bit too different and "meaty" botifarra is ofc awesome. try also grilling finnish raw sausages (raakamakkara) takes more time but they are soooooo good
Nice! I love grilled sausages. I just recently tried Grillimaisteri "Polttava" chili sausage from LIDL store, really liked that one.
I really like this HK Maakarit serie that HK have. Sausages with influences from Poland, Spain, Germany, some Finnish too.. Worth a try Dave!

I highly recommend a little sausage called "Salarakas" (secret lover), which is made by Makuliha. If I remember correctly, it has some dried tomatoes and herbs.
Kabanossi Habanero flavour is very good. Also Grillimaisteri's Polttava with tulinen chili flavour is delicious. It's from Lidl and has 88% meat percentage!! 😊
I just bought kabanossi salami&cheddar for Friday. I usually like sausages with cheese in them, I think some chili (or jalapeno) and cheese has been my favorite so far.
Right now the nacho-Wilhelm is my favourite makkara ever. It’s so good...🤤
Wilhelm chili sulatejuusto. Absolutely the best ever. And it goes like crazy along side with Forssan potato salad and mustard

What I take from this is that Atria Wilhelm is a good choice and oh boy what a nice surroundings you have there I really hope you enjoy the scenery.

Actually interesting video. I haven't tasted any of those before. My favourite makkara is the ones that have cheese in them so I definitely wanna try out the black pepper and feta one. That looked yummy as you ate it and Wilhelm usually makes good sausages.

Hey Dave! Great video. How about a sinappi taste test? I had a hard time deciding which brands and flavors to bring back with me when I visited Finland in December/January - so many to choose from!
I love Mustamakkara, closes to black pudding you can get and I love it
I like almost every kind of makkara, but if I have to choose one it would be Kabanossi Juusto 👌🏻
that cheesy natcho became our choice of weapon when we make any sort of soup. or just grill.. or pretty much anything. tastes like grillitassu but more cheesier and better

my favorite sausage is the wilhelm kukko gouda. it's a chicken sausage with cheese and it's so good.
My all time favorite is HK Camping. It is easy and mild 😊 and I also use it in other foods too like soups.

Kivikylä Huiluntuhti, and Kivikylä Huiluntuhti Cheese, Kivikylä Ryynimakkara, HK Carlos and quite much all the Savuhovi sausages (Makkarat), are from higher quality class. Now, taste preferences and quality might not go hand in hand, but these have been my personal favorites.
I like Grilli-Juuso. They're really short ones, so you have to eat more than one at the time, but really good. (They also have Grilli-Auroora's that are supposed to have Aurajuusto in them, but I can't taste it)
Wilhelm chili-sulatejuusto is good either 😍

Best makkaras are Kabanossi grillibalkan and HK maestro Carlos. There's also the Chef Wotkins products, which I heavily recommend.
Grilli Balkan is the best for making hot dogs

Wilhelm Chili-Sulatejuusto is the best. (processed chili-cheese I think?). Hoarding it whenever possible. Less hot than Wilhelm Carolina Reaper and taste is awesome.

Still my all time favourite sausage for summer is Atria Wilhelm Chili-Sulatejuusto and also Tapolan Parillat Aurella (if you like bluecheese) 💪🏻 You should try the Aurella!

Juustoinen Jethron jämäkkä is my favourite makkara. Im sad, because they don’t sell it in normal markets, so i must always go to buy it in Liedon Lihakauppa.

My absolute favourite was bourbon wilhem. But bratwurst from dulano does the trick every time
This summer I think Wilhelm Cheesy Nacho is my favorite. Edit. I really liked both of the Poppamies sausages also.
Any Lihajaloste sausage will be amazing!
Chicken one is also good if you can't eat pork, like my mom, who has rheumatism, which she did get from tick bite. So eating pork will hurt her joints, but like any true Finn she likes to eat sausages.
Btw, did you know that sausages used to be Christmas dish in here Eastern Finland? Specialy those one with barley and bloodon them, ryynimakkaras.
I tried Wilhelm chili-cheese after your last makkara video and liked it. Now I have to try those 2 other Wilhelm makkara!

Karski is one of the best makkara I have ever eaten! Very meaty & juicy😋👌🏻You HAVE to try it!! But Wilhelm is also sooo good🤤

My favourite is Eetvartti Aura (blue cheese).
Mustamakkara (black sausage) traditional Finnish food from Tampere Finland! You should really visit our city, there's the one and only Black Sausage Bar (Tapolan mustamakkarabaari) in the world found here, making a day trip here would make a really great video for you.

Kabanossi Habanero hands down. Isn't as spicy as you might expect from the name, but tastes great

Okay Dave you have to try Chef Wotkin's peuragrilleri (deersausage). That is the best a man can get.
Kabanossi Savupekoni That is the smoky bacon variant of Kabanossi.
My fave is definitely wigren's chilicheese nysä! 😍 Only downside is that they are so small and pretty expensive 😁
You moved to Finland 2 years too late, previous 3 summers have been horrible (as in too hot, as in good for you) this summer has been great so far. But I'm fine with if you get warmer weather there in Helsinki and it keeps cool here in North of The Wall :)
My favorite makkaras are those with meat content like 30% or under. Anything 70% and over is like biting into a steak and taste/texture isn't makkara for me anymore, needs to be lots of flour! :)
That "wilhelm feta and blackpepper" sausage is so good. I don't like sausages so much but damn that is so yummy 😍😂🙏
You need to try ”Günther” by HK
My top1 favourate sausage is Kielbasa, which I found from lidl.
And honestly worst ones I've ever tasted was "Ryynimakkara" and blood sausages.

My favourite makkara is either ryynimakkara or Lidl's bacon wrapped cheese stuffed makkara
I highly recommend you to try out HK Maakarit Gunther, Huberin huilu and Meksikon Miguel and there's nothing to do with the fact that im working at HK :D i know atria has plenty of very good sausages, but those three are my personal favourite sausages from HK. Have a nice summer and take care!
Oh and make sure you overcook those three a bit. They are best, when the skin is a bit dark. Not black charcoal, but a bit blackish

Nothing beats Dahlmans Wienerkorv! It is absolutely delicious no matter how you enjoy it, uncooked/cold, boiled, fried of grilled!

Could you try some tuoremakkaras. I'm not sure what's the English term but directly translated "Fresh sausage". They have not been precooked so any herbs etc. get more pronounced.

I really like how even the kommenttis are in this weird half english finnish :) Wilhelm makes some really solid makkaras.
Favourite makkara is hiillos and hiillos cheese from atria or wilhelm chili sulatejuusto
Wotkins Pekonigrilleri (Bacon sausage) or anything from Wotkins is quite nice to grill
Beyond Wotkins there is one brand that sweeps the floor and it's Maatila-Liha Meronen Willigrilli, (retailed at K-supermarket Arabia) wild boar sausage that will ruin your life. Everything would not taste the same ever again.
Although I personally stopped eating meat, I can recommend my previous favorites. Still in search of the best vegan makkara, but there's nothing quite like the real deal. I've been hearing that Tofurky Kielbasa would be most resembling to makkara, but have not had the opportunity to try.

Poppamies jalapeno&cheese makkara. It has a little bit of kick to it. Downing few beer and then eat whole package, immediately regret it.
Also regret it the next morning too.
Next time try Huiluntuhti by Kivikylä. The best quality & taste makkara in finland. (It is a regular makkara so no extras like fetas n stuff)

Huberin huilu by HK is something you should test out if you like cheese sausages ☺️
I like spicy food so spicy sausages are also better. Thus habanero Kabanossi is one of my favourites. Would be fun to test that one swedish sausage (Harakiri ?)

Try out Halloumi cheese ,it's bbq cheese from Cypros ,but company named Filos makes it in Finland ,please try it out. Its very very good :D Greetings from Estonia!
