Once again. Salmiakki is not liqorice. It's often mixed with liqorice, but salmiakki is a different thing. Liqorice is a plant. Salmiakki is lab made salt of ammonia
Indeed, I was just about to comment on this myself. I guess it confuses some people that the candy industry has decided to associate both with black color (which neither are without a strong black dye).
@@pev_ We made Salmiakki in school chemistry back in the days. It was yum. Also its white powder.
Salmiakki on ammoniumkloridilla eli salmiakilla maustettu lakritsimakeinen.
@@teroboy2855 Ammoniumkloridi ON salmiakkia.

Rejoice! You have learned THE most important word in Finnish language: noniin
Raatomieli Ismo leikolan viisaat sanat
Kyllähän se Kummelin/Mankelin "ämpyilijä" Heimo Pailakin pääsi pitkälle pelkästään muutamalla fraasilla: "Niin, no...", "No niin.", "No joo" ja mitäs niitä oli.
Kyllä kyllä ja kyllä
No niin
9:43 That “No niin!” came so naturally, I’m proud of you Dave!
I completely forgot that Dave used to have long hair.
Hahaha! I died when you read paksu as paska 😂. Paksu is thick btw.
Dave you are having the same taste experience with salmiakki as many Finnish kids. At first they hate it and cannot understand why their parents or older siblings like it. Then they get to taste it every now and then and slowly get better tolerance to salmiakki. But then comes a day when they can say that they actually like or even love the taste of salmiakki. You'll get there - just wait. 😉
I actually met couple weeks ago a brittish person who liked salty liquorice
*likes
Mä oon ite tykänny salmiakista pienestä lähtien
Ite oon aina tykänny salmiakista..
Mulle kävi juuri näin, vaikken vieläkään pidä ihan vahvimmista salmiakeista
*Spits candy out with a grim face*
"Yeah that was very pleasant actually"
Halva X-Salt Salmiakki is actually just basic Salty liquorice covered with sugar with a hint of Ammonium chloride. That should tell you how strong Ammonium chloride aka Salmiac is, the salmiac sugar that covers the candy is something like 90% sugar and 10% of Ammonium chloride.
Pure Ammonium chloride powder actually corrodes metal, steel and concrete if you let it stay there long enough and we Finns enjoy eating that stuff.
I remember you tasting Ahaa chocolate in your irtokarkki video and you said it was boring and didn’t taste like anything 😂 I remember it because it’s my favourite chocolate and I was like NOOOOO so this new opinion was interesting to hear! 😆
You got to try Kouvolan laku
Try Auran Sinappi Tosi Tulinen and Saarioinen einespizza (Roiskeläppä). And Apteekin Salmiakki.
Ah, didn't know they mix!
@@timomastosalo Don't have to mix them XD
@@Str0b0 Sorry, I just had to - looked like a recipe :)

9:43 Oh god, that NONIIN came out of nowhere :D Just perfect! So finnish. Well done Dave.
When are you gonna do a taste test of just Fazer chocolate bars with different flavors? :D My favorite is definetly the hazelnut one (a lot of finns like it) and then marianne and lontoo rae are also quite good~
chili& crisp
@@Huhdkwjwh Oh yes, I just wish they made a whole bar with that flavour.
I hate nuts in chocolate
I am so mad they stopped making the bisquit bits one (presumably in favor of the domino bits one) >:(
Älä ikinä käytä sanaa finns
Im so happy that those pommix have come pack, they were one of my favorites as a child, an they were as irtokarkki, about 1985-1989 or something... There was then only maybe ten irtokarkki- products, and those lemon ones was one of them, so those are made again for us who lived on that crazy time on 1980's. 😊
Like nii ulkomaalaiset luulee mun sanoneen jotain hauskaa😂😂🇫🇮

Ok hyvä homma

Heh, loved your reactions to some of these sweets :) It feels a bit nostalgic watching this, I think I found your channel years ago through your first candy taste test. I have to say that Fazer's Blue is so good that I'm a bit disappointed with the blueberry version, because I love blueberries too. That chocolate bar is not bad, but it's not the heaven I expected either.
Will soon jump on a flight to Finland for a 10 month stay. Thank you for all of the help in getting culturally prepared. I look forward to your future videos!
From where?
@@teppopierune5520 The US to Jyvaskyla to study for 10 months.
@@bruceblair4316 Nice! Btw it's Jyväskylä, not Jyvaskyla.
You can get Ahaa (in smaller bites) as an irtokarkki too. My chocoholism doesn't appreciate that every time they are in discount
You have to try metrilaku
Ahaa is one of my all time favorite chocolates :) I don't know why, but it has this very special, unique flavor that I like. It's been years though since I ate one. I just wish Fazer and other chocolate manufacturers in Finland would find peanut butter already! Berries, yogurt, berries everywhere. Meh. But chocolate, cookies, ice cream and pastries made with peanut butter... I'm waiting for the day!
Ahaa is the best candy! Bace for every irtokarkkipussi!
Oh! That Paksu chocolate Pepe!😍😍 love them! You can get them at the Panda factory outlet in Jyväskylä, they sell them in 1kg bulks/bags.
I LOVE that Copenhagen chocolate, it’s my all time favourite!!
Finland started to received cocoa powder after the war early 1948. My granfather was head hunted to be the chocolate master to start chokolate production for the brand we now know as Panda.
Herää
Dave Cad - whatever you do when it comes to eating the big long licorice bar - don't eat it all up in once, you're gonna feel nausea afterwards having too much of licorice and you don't want that feeling.
My personal favorite are those chocolate filled licorice bars! SUCH a good combo, tho one might not think that at first!
I love the ahaa its like 1000/5
Noni. Pitääkin lähteä karkkiostoksille nyt keskiyöllä. Kiitti vaan Dave
Melkein unohdin: Sori mun huonoa englantia ;)
That Fazer blueberry crisp chocolate is my favourite one D:
Hyvä video jälleen Dave
perkele, hyvä video❤️
could you test the new fazer products? you can order the package from fazer or wait till they all come to stores! x
Could you do a finnish ice cream taste test video? Enjoyed the video☺️
Dave, they even sell Dumle snack in some corner shops in the UK! Can't believe you've missed it all these years. :D
Ahaa patukka is one of my favourites, you can even buy it in small bites at grocery stores in the Irtokarkki aisle
The Pepe XXL, i actually find it hard to stop myself from eating a whole one, never knew there was a chocolate one though, cheers Dave, you've just added to my gym time 😄
7:40 Dave it's *lemon* !!! Obviously it's got more punch to itXD
I absolutely love Fazers chocolate!! Its the best
Dave, have you tasted Fazer Supersalmiakki!? ( called silmäsalmiakki( like eye salmiakki) usually, because of the package ) you have to try it if you haven't, it's such a classic one
ahaa bars were my childhood. they were in stores in the 1990s and 2000s and disappeared for a while (at least i didn't see them around) but they've recently made a comeback!
11:12 that "suklaalevy" used to be my favorite chocolate slab to buy, but I ate it too often and it kinda just got boring. I haven't eaten it in ages so i think imma buy it tomorrow on "karkkipäivä". :)
If u want to do another candy tasting, I think u should order Fazer's autumn 2019 new release candybox. (Uutuusboksi syksy 2019) ! :)
Kiitos tästä ideasta, ja nyt tuli tilattua toi boksi sekä patukkaboksi. :DDDD
Thanks for the idea, now I have ordered that box aswell as patukka version. :)
Try some Estonian Kalev chocolates. The crispy white chocolate with blueberry is amazing.
I'm from Finland and the rasperry and liquorice is my second favorite chocolate. You should try Kultasuklaa chocolate bars. Especcially the Rocky Road one:) Cheers!
You should try the fazer chocolate and liquorice balls. They are sooo good
Oh and you should try Mämmi with salmiakki powder and vanilla custard 11/10
5:30 the funny thing is that you tasted the pick and mix (irtokarkki) version of that chocolate bar before and you didn't like it :D
I haven't been following your channel too much so you might've actually answered these questions before, but do you eat rye bread in Finland? Like actual rye bread, not the rye bread you see in foreign tv shows. Also are you ever gonna go on a tour around Finland? Like going through different traditional foods in different areas and going to festivals or something? Like muikkukukko in Kuopio, loimulohi or smoked reindeer in Lapland and so on?
Do you get much compliments over your freckles? I love them
I just bought a lot of Ahaa- bites from irtokarkki shelfs :)
There are tons of memes from fazer because they made so many weird and different flavours mixed with chocolate. And they are still developing more. I can't wait for koskenkorva chocolate to come out
I usually take Fazer's blueberry choc to my foreign friends as a gift when I visit them and it's been their introduction to Fazer chocs. So far everyone's absolutely loved it and always beg me to bring more. I'm more of a traditionalist and prefer my choc plain or with nuts. Lontoon Rae Fazerin sininen being the exception 😄 But Fazerin Sininen with hazelnuts ftw!
I've been laughing to your "OHO!!" for 15minutes 😂😂
Also if you are looking for candy that you can call fun you should try Smurffi white chocolate sticks.
Ahaa Is an absolute Legend!
Ooh I love Ahaa patukka!!😍😍
1:28 look at Daves eyes
my favorite chocolate bar is dumle snacks, susu and ahaa😍, well started the video.
when is the potato salad/italian salad taste testing happening, i need to know which ones pair with which sausages the best
Hello Dave!!! The only bad thing abaut your sweet test is that I am in Germany! !!! Still keep go on as you are!!!

They also used to sell Ahaa mint chocolate in both bag and bar form. It was sooooo good that you wouldn't even care about chocoholism. Still don't know why they stopped selling them.
Ahaa is one of my favorites 👍
When I look in the comments it feels like I’m the only person who is looking on daves channel who is not from finland!😂
Probaply not, but he IS really popular in Finland.
Nope, you are not the only one who is not from Finland. :D I'm not Finnish either. :D
I am sad you didn’t like the blueberry Fazer bar :( that’s my fav one (after the original ofc)
I looooove sour candy. 😍 And pommix is sooo good also brainblasters. 😍🥰 Good video
I hate white chocolate but the Fazer Copenhagen is so so good! I love it too much, it's funny how you think it's too complicated, I think it's a perfect harmony 😂👌
Salmiakki valkosuklaa is one of my hundreds favorites. I like youre videos and i have follow you many years. By 11 years old boy from Finland.
Are you ever going to make a part 2 of you reacting to finnish disney songs?
If you want to taste the real original salmiakki, you should buy it from a pharmacy. It is sold in small paper bags and does not cost much.
panda salmiakki vadelma white chocolate is my fav.
What do you think of finnish candy/chocolate overall?
Whenever I’m abroad I feel like there’s not too many good candys or chocolate in the stores to choose from but I just might have a bias towards finnish products :P
How about trying some Hapansilakka aka Surströmming, even though it is swedish it’s common in finland too. It has rather unique aroma.
I recommend trying Fazer sininen Punaiset marjat if you haven't already
You need to eat both Pommix candies at the same time! The lemon one and the stronger black salmiakki together, aww yiss.
Dave Cad hienoja videoita teet ja jatka samaan mallia. ja näitä videoita tälläisiä ei harvemmin tehdä kiitos tästä kun tälläisiä teet. kiitos ja kumarrus. I.m from Finland
awwww the long haired boyband dave!
The last one was not Fazer Blue and Blueberry. It was Fazer Blueberry Yoghurt crisp. www.hongkong.fi/fi/koti-ja-asuminen/elintarvike/makeiset/makeiset/fazer-blueberry-yoghurt-crisp-190-g-suklaalevy/p/2793134/
I love that fruity pommix. It tastes way too good😍😍
You should try Poppamies Napalminalle (Napalm Gummibear). Chili infused. Absolutely great!
And of course the Apteekin Salmiakki (Pharmacists Salmiakki). You can get it in every Apteekki in Finland. The small box is imho the best!
Ahaa is da best!
Maestör Rasanen - he has already tasted them since a few weeks ago in a video alongside one of his finnish friends visiting him. Here's the link to the video btw > ua-cam.com/video/dnzW60zLkNY/v-deo.html
the salmiakki white chocolate is so delicious😋😋
I'm finnish and i love Salmiakkia/work at market so today i was talking with this old lady customer and she went crazy when she saw this double salmiakki Tupla whatever and i was ohh damn and then she told me she found salmiakki honey and i went like OOOHHH DAMNNNN I NEED TO TASTE OF THAT xd
Ooooh Ahaa's are my favourite and I could eat 5 of them at once
I love salmiakki and fazer chocolate, and btw chocolate is suklaa at finnish

Fun fact : Salmiakki is actually Lab made and its chemical name is Ammonium Chloride
You look so different in that first taste test video. About your liking of salmiakki. They say it takes 20 tries of something before you know if you like or don't like something.
Have you tried pink chocolate? Pure Ruby by Fazer.
Salt salmiakki is my favorite 👌
I love how softly you say "paska". 😎
I remember eating ahaa in The 90s so its been around a while
Salmiak and licorice are the Methamphetamine and Hemp of the candy world.
Ouh, just seeing those sour Pommix candys, makes my neck hair to stand, when you put them to you mouth, my back is in goosebumps and when you feel that sour taste, i feel it too, as a strong memory :s
You’re the best Dave!
Salmiakki is my life ❤😋
Hyvä meno Dave!
You need to try fazer strawberry
Our boy has all grown up since those early days.
If you haven't tasted this bag of chocolate called Smash, you haven't lived. They are so good !
Pommix tastetest made me laugh so hard! 🍓🍋 🤣
Maybe Dave should make salmiakki some day? I mean if you can make it in school, I bet he could get the ingredients and make some 😁
The "ahaa" bar is more commonly found in smaller "candy" form in the irtokarkki section
