This explains why there are hardly any North Eastern routes, because the closer to the Alco Plant you get, the more Alcos you have to model for your route to make sense.
"look over there at that unfortunate distant scenery and let it sink in" me being confused thinking what distant scenery because it's just blurry textures from like 2009 😂
DTG using the 'Pro Range' tag to generate more sales, just like most game developers slap 'GotY' on so many games. Clearly while both originally communicated and represented something to benefit the customer, they are now just marketing tactics to generate more income.
@@emd6459 Seems in the flight sim scene that kind of unique feature eventually becomes a normal feature for new aircraft. @@mughug9616 Exactly. The advanced braking script has been around for 10 years at this point. It certainly is a good time to be flight simming. Can't say the same about train sims.
A modern mainline NS route would be nice. New NS locomotives still come with Coal District scenarios because other than the N-Line that's all they can run on. And Saluda is its own thing entirely
(Insert boot-slobbering Buzz retort about how wrong you are). Lol really though, I find it wildly amazing that anybody can defend HIS. We just don't get quality models or quality improvements for North America in TSC, and people hate to admit that. European content absolutely blows away what we get besides DW, DSGDDR, and Searchlight. The graphics here look like Trainz 2006. Sounds are arguably worse. The route is half-assed like nobody's business. Models are pitifully outdated.
so I tested those gosh darn FT's on the jet trains route, 100 mph top speed exactly. What kind of diesel fuel did DTM put in those things? btw rest of these diesels, typical 55 to 65 mph or so top speeds.
I wonder if somehow the TSC community got together and we all stopped buying this crap...Maybe then the devs would change their tune and stop feeding us trash. I believe a big reason this stuff keeps coming out half done and poorly executed is because they know people will buy it anyway. There are so many 3rd party asset/content creators for this game that make stuff for FREE and still blow this away. Its time we stopped giving these lazy developers our money
I haven't got any HIS routes besides CSX Hanover, and based on what I've seen / heard about their more recent stuff, I don't think I'll buy anymore HIS products for a fair while.
@@DC4260Productions Most of them aren't worth it, the B&O Mountain Sub is halfway decent. If you ignore the bad rolling stock and just look at the route itself, it's not a terrible choice to grab on sale. The Hanover Sub is about the only HIS route that is 100% worth the money.
Considering the range of power in modern PCs, it is hard to understand why distance scenery of virtually all routes is basically on the same level as from even Train Simulator 2013, over 10 years ago. It is no better than Run8, which is considered to have weaker graphics and a much smaller footprint on our hardware, etc. Is it really a limitation of the game engine or an aspect that developers do not deem important? One can debate that older PCs may struggle, but as we can adjust the graphics settings to our desires that seems a weak position.
In the future, they'll be expanding longer routes from Glendive, Montana to Standpoint Idaho (Including over Bozeman, Homestake, and Mullan Pass). Plus Milwaukee Road's Rocky Mountain and Idaho Division also should be added to another new route in the future.
I’m going to try and watch as much of this as I can out of respect, but I think this is a sign of the times for this game. It might be time for the rail sim community to move on from it. Railroader is what you should be buying if you like old American Railroading.
I only play european stuff, but I sometimes check on your videos. I´ve built routes myself in the editor and it´s really hard to get distant scenery right in Train Sim Classic. In 90% of cases its covered up by trees, but as you said: here it´s not. If you look at distant scenery in any route, it won´t look any better. But they could have put more effort in building assets, terrain scaping etc... just saying, I don´t find this route to look super terrible from a route building standpoint. It´s a game problem... I´ve just accepted the way Train Sim Classic looks, because it has so much more going on than Train Sim World or Sim Rail nad I´ve invested so much in TSC. In the German community we don´t even complain much about the routes anymore, people just start to revamp them.... I guess you Americans do the same. But it sucks that a handful of devolpers make money on half arsed routes and the community has to fix them. But that´s just the way things go and I don´t see it changing. It´s still better than what´s going on with Train Sim World in my view. That is just a dumpers fire at this point... especially for US freight or steam lovers.
Being around this game for so long has taught me just how much time and effort goes into making this kind of stuff. Yes, its not the greatest but do you even realize the years it would take to make a route with all new assets and everything? It has taken me well over 5 years to do the spore spur (Ohio spur to a quarry that goes by my house for 6 miles or so)and I'm not even halfway done. I can only imagine doing a 60 mile route.
Cool, then they should release a route once a year. hell, once every 2 years if they need to. People (including myself) would much rather have 1 quality route over 10 half-assed routes. Most of these guy's aren't sitting there meticulously building routes either. They use an AI program that does most of the scenery for them. Which is why it look's like total garbage. Adriana County, a freeware route from 9 years ago looks better than the vast majority of the recent routes costing $40. There's a reason why developers like Searchlight, Smokebox, Diesel Workshop and others don't shell out content like it's candy. They actually believe in making quality content and products.
@@Croconator If you really want a route with every single asset created from scratch and it is a 65 mile mainline your talking way more than a year or two if is one or two guys. Its not really the route building, its the asset creation that's the time consuming part. Either way I would not charge 40 dollars for a route like this though lol. That's just asinine.
@@dakotapicouI would agree with you, if it WAS just one or two guys, and if they were handmaking it like the rest of the GOOD content creators. But they aren't and all they care about is the money from the handful of people who don't look things up or care to have and play with the best possible. Many other games have proven that it can be done in a year, the making of a route that's far large, far more detailed, and far better content and graphically, AND optimized well. Run 8, Railroader, Railroads online, etc...
The GP30 definitely has been reworked, my FPS doesn't get cut in half anymore with the headlights , classification lights and number lights on anymore 😂 that's about all I got out of the pack that was worth a damn😅😂. Might have to throw some SPS quality horns at these 🫣.
