This is really cool! Something that might come in handy, though, would be an option to automatically switch the train to the opposite direction one after it completes the last stop. For example, train 19 automatically becomes train 18 when it finishes its westbound run. Not like it's that hard to change it "by hand", but it would definitely be a quality of life,
Really awesome looking update. Though I do have a wish for a certain feature related to this. Either the timetable shows an approximation of how many passengers to expect between each two given stations. (Might be nicer to choose to plan ahead and stuff with this obviously considering other possible travel ways like express trains overtaking local trains at stations, dunno if passengers could cope with that.) Or statistics of last day, with numbers of exact passengers from where to where. And if passengers were left behind at a station (only if not a number).
Another update video so soon?! Wooo weeee Merry Christmas to to all railroaders! Keep up the good work fellas and I hope we get a lot of stuff tested out and approved in experimental 🙂🚂
Great video!! I have a pretty good understanding on how to work the timetable now and I am so excited to use it in my world!!! Thank you for all the hard work on the game :)
I think it would be worth adding some kind of risk/reward for implementing a timetable, for instance you get more passenger traffic but a potential penalty for lateness (ticket compensation for passengers, etc.)
The loco roster In the game is already amazing, especially at the size it is right now. I’ve heard many people talk about adding articulates, and mods nonetheless. But I think with the size as is of the main line, even with the freight it’ll be too much. There isn’t enough to really need an articulate, even with the grades or length/cargo need. But I think there should be some smaller ones, like the DMIR 0-10-2, a couple more shunters/short haul. Maybe a budd RDC, or hell, some geared locomotives like a Shay, climax, or heisler. Nonetheless, this game is amazing as ever!
I am just a small line. The train will get there when it gets there. Am running a small concept to stay small until I accumulate the cash to start growing and have the engines to keep up with it outright without debt.
Great!!! Will have a look ASAP. Have you ever considered getting in touch with AngeTheGreat who is behind the (steam) engine simulator? Maybe he could help greatly with improving whistle sounds, which I feel could use some work. Just an idea. Happy holidays. Love your game. Really got me into railroads and steam engines the past few weeks.
Will this work with freight too I assume? I mean not to pick up or set out but to schedule it to leave its origin and make its local stops where you can then teleport to and take over switching? This would certainly allow more multitasking as well as organization. I already run a timetable that I made in notepad through trial and error recording arrival/departure times, this will make it much easier to mange and create new trains.
Will there be a way for a train to pick up passengers for alarka but then drop them off at alarka junction to transfer to another train or will the box need to be manually unchecked when the train gets to the junction?
Is there going to be a setting to tell AI engineers uncouple and to service their engine (AKA refuel refill water)? Iirc theres already a runaround command right?
For me personally. Since Im a lone wolf player. Timetables wouldnt matter. I just run the daily while Im working other yards. Im basically 50% sandbox mode. But for multiplayer this is cool. I know some of my friends would like this.
From my experience of playing for the past five days, AE will stop for a switch set against it, a fusee (flair), or if it gets too close to a detected object (train or car on the track). I haven’t tried putting two trains head to head, but I’d imagine they would stop for each other assuming they’re not going too fast.
Question: is there a way to associate a crew with more than one train? Let's say you want to have a service running back and forth across the line all day would you need to manually change the timetable slot each time? It might be neat to be able to specify a list, so the locomotive is automatically assigned to its next job. Also I think this would be a useful feature for freight operations too, it would just need yards and sidings added as locations.
I got a question, When it comes to train that go back and forth, like a local train from Whitier to Bryson, am I gonna need to go into the train crew settings all the time to change the timetable they're assigned to? Seems a bit dauntless.
It is simpler then it might seem but do understand what you mean. We hope the feature will be smoother over time, including automatic "symbol" changes.
I dont know how to feel about that. Its awesome, of course, for long or bigger railroads. But if i want to use that on a small line i would have to edit this all the time :/
I personally use it on my Whittier to Alarka Junction shortline, is quite enjoyable on a smaller railroad. But as was mentioned, it is optional, so totally up to you! - Connor
@@railroader i may use it on a shorter run when there is more automation :D for example ticking the passenger cars should be ticked automaticly when the train is put on the timetable. But anyway - its an awesome update, great work! :) cant wait for a main push.

Finally, in game rewards and penalties for sticking to or falling behind my timetables.

I am absolutely loving the game. Thank you for the update :)

Merry Christmas Adam and team! What a great Christmas gift you've provided. Keep up the great work!

Real.
Will the waypoint system be in the 2025 main build? really want it to be lol

How does the AI react to opposing traffic and passing?

Adding to that; could one crew handle two consists running multiple round trips opposite each other?
I got a question,
When it comes to train that go back and forth, like a local train from Whitier to Bryson, am I gonna need to go into the train crew settings all the time to change the timetable they're assigned to? Seems a bit dauntless.
It is simpler then it might seem but do understand what you mean. We hope the feature will be smoother over time, including automatic "symbol" changes.
a few questions:
Can this work with the waypoint mode?
Will the engine turn the switches using road mode with the timetable activated?
Ah, so that's what the patch today was.
Only one transfer? Why not two?
I dont know how to feel about that. Its awesome, of course, for long or bigger railroads. But if i want to use that on a small line i would have to edit this all the time :/
Probably why it's optional
