Solid review. Micro brands like Lorier make such compelling watches. I’m really over the big brands because I don’t see the value anymore beyond perceived status. And who really cares about that?
Great review, thumbs up given. Another company that seems to be listening to their customers lately is C. Ward. Thieir new C60 Trident 300 has a bunch of customer suggested improvements. An un-mentioned benefit to the hand set change is that with my series 3 Neptune, after a few minutes in low or no light it's hard to distingiush a difference between the lume on the hour and minute hands. Keeping the lume on just the arrowhead of the hour hand and no longer on the stem, while lengthening the lume on the minute hand should make it easier to distingiush in the dark once it starts to fade.
Great work will! When I had the series 3 in for review the sharpness of the bracelet edges was my biggest gripe so I love these changes. Thanks for highlighting them so well!
Great review. I personally prefer the dial and the handset on the V3, they look slightly more elegant and not as faux vintage to my eye. The smaller lug to lug distance on the V4 is a welcome change and the more rounded bracelet.
I've only seen one review for the new Lorier releases, and was worried there wouldn't be anything for the Neptune until well after the launch. This got me excited! I'm going back and forth between this and the roulette date version. Thanks for the video!
Traska also make incremental changes to their Freediver, they are also on version 4. Both watches are excellent examples of microbrands listening to their customer base and making improvements as they go.
I have 2 Traska, white dial no date Commuter and blue summiteer. Great watches built like tanks. I end up using the commuter as my daily driver as it looks great in jeans or a suit and the summiteer for whenever I have to do outdoorsy stuff. Now I can’t wait to get a lorries, I’m undecided between Neptune and Falcon! If you have a traska, how are you finding it?
In my experience it isn't better but actually worse. And that is sad. While at first it might look otherwise, after a while the lume of the hands vanish way faster and deeper than the hour markers. The lume is not cohesive around the watch. Hands should be as bright as the hour makers and if something to sacrifice, that never should be the hands. I'm kind of very disappointed to the extreme I might sell the watch.
I got the S IV a couple of days ago and feel very disappointed with the lume. Wonder if the same with your unit. The lume of the hands is much dimmer than the lume of the hour markers and disappears quite soon. The amount of lume in the hour hand is so small that during the night is even kind of comical.
Great comparison. It just kinda bothers me that the intonation feels like someone told him to add some more of it to his reading and now he just randomly stresses every other word without intent.
hands on the neptune 3 were better: beautiful; they had style, class. new Loomed bezel is great. can you make this a 37-38mm? thin is great. maybe give a saphire option?? the plastic is traditional and unique...but I'l like this to last 200 years and not look like a yellow dog toy.. you have the makings of a true clasic here: keep working one it! (if you can do a 3-6-9-dial with the same style...)
In what sense? The handset is different, the 3-6-9 markers are different, the bezels are different, and the case is completely different. Is it because it’s gilt?
Funny. I much prefer the vintage design of the Lorier to the BB58. Also, can't stand the rivets on the BB58 bracelet. And this is coming from someone who own several high end watches. Sure quality must be there, but the look is paramount to me.
Their watches sell out in minutes. Market dictates that their prices are right where it needs to be. With inflation we’re lucky that it’s still at $500. Of course, you’re more than welcome to research, design and sell this magical $400 watch that you’re clamoring for.
Personally from what I’ve seen from other micros like Steinhart, Baltic, spinnaker, and others I’m surprised it’s still 499. Now granted this doesn’t have sapphire, ceramic, and a Swiss movement but for what it does have, eye candy appeal, it’s a reasonable price. I’m seriously thinking about getting one and I need another watch like I need a hole in my head!!!😳🤔😱
I think they could easily charge $600 if they wanted to. The plexiglass they use is more expensive than using sapphire surprisingly. I look at brands like Baltic that use the same movement and are charging over $700 for their watches on a bracelet
Like the move away from chinese movements. Now always use sapphire crystals and exhibition case backs. When these 2 changes are made, I'll be a buyer, but not until then.
Lorier have never used a Chinese movement in the Neptune. The first 2 versions were NH35s and the last version and this new one have Miyota movements. Only the Gemini has used a Seagull Chinese movement.

Would be great to see how it plays on a strap since they shortened the lugs and repositioned the spring-bar holes 😉
Gorgeous skin diver. Love this review, keep it up!

I usually go with no date, but I just love the splash of red from the Neptune wording you get with the date version.
@@franctundidor8930 absolutely. If the no date had the red text it'd be a no brainer for me!
Great review. I had the v3 for a while and I’m excited to get this updated version
Love it, can’t wait to get me hands on one.
You can get that same look of a retro crystal in sapphire.

@@Bhethar did you get the neptune or the falcon?
@@adamonmp4 oh no I meant I own Traska watches. Hopefully I’ll get my hands on a Falcon soon.
excellent comparison
Might have to buy yet another Lorier. Well played 👏🏽
Is the lume any better? That would be a major improvement.

Great that lorier goes ahead but I found the step from V2 to V3 bigger
Very nice review. Clear and smooth voice. Subbed broder
Shame we couldn't see the new date version, but this also looks stunning.
I love the date version! So cool
Great review, been waiting for this. What size is your wrist please?
How’s the fit? We’re u able to get a good fit with the limited micro adjustments?
Great review. Very informative. Like almost all of the changes but don’t love the new handset. Looks unbalanced to my eye.
Christopher Ward Listens, Lorier make great watches. I have the V2 Neptune I think another is in the future.
What is your wrist size?
mm the s4 hour-hand still looks unfinished to me without being lumed the whole way =( still love all my loriers: neptune s3, falcon s2, gemini s1!
The old bracelet had just something special that the new version miss… kinda disappointing

I wish they'd bring back the blue for the new series iv
They could get into 45mm lug to lug. Still enough space to cut it down.
Great comparison.

thx
I love it
I like the ultra flat links of the old bracelet. They should’ve stuck to their guns on that one.
Beautiful watch though I would have preferred a sapphire crystal which would have made the watch perfect! Still it's a stunning piece!
Crazy, this watch is worth no more than 100 bucks. Looks nice though
A link to their website would have been welcomed.
Haven't you got google?
Looks great but still just a second rate blackbay 58

Lorier has an obsession with hesalite plastic...
Yea. . That’s kinda the whole point of the brand
They've been $500 USD since version 1. I feel it really should not be above 400. Anyone else agree it is not a $500 watch?

Lugs are still ridiculously long. Hard pass

Ha! I guess you’ll never be a buyer cuz Lorier will never make those changes.
LOL
🤣
They ain't gonna use sapphire in the Neptune. Go listen to their podcast interview with Worn & Wound
