@@theurbangentry “… negative connotations held by those less informed…” Drip drip drip dripped the tap. Those negative connotations actually come from the rather better informed about the true role of Rome and The Superior General for instance, The Jesuit Order and the importance of the number 201 (as well as many others), institutions such as Yale, and secret societies such as Skull and Bones, The Freemasons and the Illuminati, The Knights of Malta, The Committee of The 300 etc. and what sets The Vatican City, The City of London and Washington DC apart. These things are all very real, and those that are members of these groups literally determine what happens to the whole of humanity. Mao Zedung was Yale educated and a Rockefeller protégé, and the Gaz trucks bombed by the US Navy Airforce were of a Ford design manufactured in a factory set up by Fiat - on behalf of Ford. And we know why Napoleon hid his hand, as well as Browning understood the importance of The Incident of The French Camp.

I have had pinky rings since my teens (5 silver, 3 gold), only now in my 40's I started to wear them on a regular basis (mainly thanks to this channel). I wear them on my left pinky while on my right ring finger, it's one of two rings, a gold signet ring or a slightly more chunky silver, for which I have worn either one every day for the last 25 years.

Fun fact; in Vedic astrology, the pinky finger is ruled primarily by mercury, who generally governs over commerce, oration, public appearance, travel, transactions, and communication. In Hindu tradition, he is represented by the color green and by the emerald, whose name in Sanskrit translates to “the green of all living things”.

It was a fashionable trend during the American civil war to purchase a gold pinky ring with a soldiers first pay. They were often quite proud with it and even made it a point to show off in photos. Photographers would paint in the ring as well as some blush on the face. The blush pigments tended to fade but the ring paint would remain on the tintype. They weren't practical other than the fashion and a quick way to convert the new paper currency with something more stable.
In classes on mudras, I learned that each finger on each hand has different meanings, and that meridians run from different bodily organs to each finger tip. The pinky finger represents the planet mercury - which stands for communication. So it is claimed that wearing a ring on the pinky helps to activate communication. Also, the left ring finger contains the only meridian that connects directly to the heart, which is why this is the preferred finger for wedding bands.
I had actually been curious about this since I started noticing myself and other people pressing their thumbs and index/middle fingers together when making a point to someone, and that there's actually a flow of energy (at least for myself) that occurs when this action is performed... I'm just not sure why one often feels instinctively inclined to do it 🤔
@Stovacious I've heard that that action of joining the index finger and thumb produces a hand sign some people call the 666 sign. Since the index and thumb make a circle, and the middle, ring, and pinky are the curved part of the 6. Weird stuff

I wear a signet pinkie ring inscribed with "MEMENTO MORI" that means "Remember Death" along with an hour glass representing the passing of time, skull representing the death, and a tulip, representing life. I use it as a tool for myself to combat anxiety and laziness -- to remind myself of the quote of Marcus Aurelius -- "You could leave life this moment. Let this decide what you say, do, and think."
I'm fascinated by the history of jewelry. I am an aspiring jeweler and have always had an interest in the meaning behind wearing certain pieces of jewelry, so this video seriously caught my attention. I want to find the books you were reading on rings now. 💍
My uncle was a Lawyer and had 2 black & gold onyx rings he wore . One on his pinky and the other as a wedding cigar band . I was always fascinated by his rings . My dad on the other hand didn’t wear jewelry much . He only wore cufflinks and tie tacks .
After my kids grew up and I moved across the state. The first piece of jewelry I bought myself was a gold band diamond ring for my left pinkie. To signify self.
I have a gold Masonic ring that was bought from an antiques store several years ago when I first became a Freemason. This video has inspired me to wear it more. As it only fits my pinky finger, I have been reluctant to wear it because I didn't want to look "gangster". Now I know better. It's a reminder to me to be the best man I can be, and also serve my community with pride and respect.

I'm wearing a pinky ring on both hands at the moment and never felt comfortable wearing anything on any other finger. It always brought me a sense of of elevated power and I've always wondered why. I love learning the roots of the deepest parts of our culture embedded in our psyche
Interesting topics indeed! As a person far from the origin of europe and greek-roman centered culture, I found rings also had it's significance in my culture. My great-great-great grandfather has an absolutely breathtaking piece of ruby placed beneath an engraving of an ant, which is practically so confusing because the craftmanship and taste at the time would be very different. We're lucky though to preserve the piece of history of ours and of course, continue to strive and keep making histories for generations!
I am a fan of your channel, from India! I have a ring my grandmother gave me as a child, it's made of silver, but it has my initial on it, and it has such beautiful engraving of nature around it, that I never gave it up. As i grew an adult, i had the ring expanded and extended to fit me, and I still wear it on my right little finger. I didn't realize then, what I know now, that it has become a part of me and a reminder of my grandparents.
My class rings (high school and college) are my most cherished ones. The idea an unwed woman not engaged must leave the wedding ring finger bare is stupid. That's where I wear my college class ring. I earned it!
My family are immigrants from southern Italy. My great grandparents were mobsters on my grandfathers side. My grandmothers side were Arkansas Moonshiners who ran shine for Capone back and forth from Hot Springs Arkansas to Chicago. We have a rich outlaw history and most of us wear some sort of pinky or signet ring. I am now a jeweler and thoroughly enjoy making heirlooms to be passed through the generations.
I'd love to see a history of your family. You mentioned your lineage goes back as far as the 13th century so it has to have some incredible stories to be told.
I wear my class ring occasionally, when I meet up with my old college friends, And I liked wearing my wedding ring when I was married, a plain gold band. I did have a high school ring but I hated my high school, so I never wore it. Other than that, this video has convinced me that a pinky ring is not my style at all! But I'm going to keep my eyes open for the rings men wear, not many men wear them so it is a deliberate choice to be different, there's going to be a story there.
I just discovered your channel today, it's very informative and the quality of production is top notch. I was one of those misinformed people who viewed signet rings negatively but now my view of them has changed. I'll definitely learn more about them and hopefully get one for myself preferably with a wolve's engraving on it which is my clans totem. Thank you
Love it. Superb addition to the lifestyle gentry videos. I do wear a couple of rings (one on each hand) although neither are pinky rings. I've worn them now for as long as I remember and feels really strange when I'm not wearing them. Great video from a top gent, made even more enjoyable by a mention of Wall Street, one of my favourite films (yes me and 80s again....I'm so predictable!)
Haha, thank you Chris. I have to say, I think I have become slightly obsessed with Wall Street, it has not aged a day and still so relevant. Deffo a classic movie. Best regards, TGV
Extremely interesting video, congratulations. I have worn my 18ct signet ring ever since I turned 21 and like my Rolex Oyster I never remove it so despite the massive abuse it has received doing manual work like fixing my cars and motorbikes and firing military weapon systems etc, it just looks better due to the patina of minor scratches and dings, so does the Rolex in my opinion although when it goes in for service every 5 years or so some comments are raised !
I could make up a story describing how my father left me a ring when he passed but it'd be a lie. I wear a pinky ring because I'm a bad ass and it represents my first company that slingshot me towards the life I always knew I deserved.
@@csmith7506 Exactly. One reason why it's great to wear a pinky ring is because it makes more of an impression when you wave your hand to dismiss some peon away. I recommend that.

Many engineers wear a stainless steel octagon ring on their pinky to remind them of the oath they took when graduating. Mainly to stay ethical in their practice.
Interesting. I have been wearing a stainless ring from a monkey 47 bottle (ex pluribus unum) after a great meeting with friends and its always brings a smile. Thought it was clever to incorporate it into the bottle cork. Rumors and stories exist of people using them as emergency wedding or engagement rings. Plus its a damn fine gin. Thanks for the vid

What a nice video and very well explained. 14:18 is very touching. It's always good to carry on a family tradition :) well done sir! Unfortunately my own heirloom rings are not as glamorous nor as refined as yours. My great great grandfather was a Victorian ne'er do well as a lad. Contrary to TV and various shows on the Internet, they did not wear gold at all nor nice clothes. Times were very different..IF any item was worn it would have been silver and that was still a statement of money to most working people. I inherited a gold gilt buckle ring worn by him and an incredibly thick and heavy silver signet ring dated 1877. The latter had seen Victorian Liverpool, the western front, second war and it is currently sitting proud on my finger today. Your video is a perfect example of someone who knows their stuff! Well done again and I'm proud to say that you've earned a new subscriber:) ta'ra!

Rome is fake
A pinky ring is in Germany not often to see. We use the next finger for rings. Thank you TGV. Most impressive your historical knowledge (I'm an Western Asiatic Archeologist). Stay healthy everybody. Greetings from Germany.
You mean you wear wedding bands?
Getting into jewelry in general and pinky rings in particular. You published this at an opportune moment. Thanks TGV!
So glad to hear that, thank you.
Best regards,
TGV
I have had pinky rings since my teens (5 silver, 3 gold), only now in my 40's I started to wear them on a regular basis (mainly thanks to this channel). I wear them on my left pinky while on my right ring finger, it's one of two rings, a gold signet ring or a slightly more chunky silver, for which I have worn either one every day for the last 25 years.
very interesting indeed! After watching this, I ordered a birthstone necklace for my daughter’s birthday and I will get a ring with my family crest to leave to her when I’m gone. I think it’s a lovely thing to do. Thanks for the inspiration TGV!
Fun fact; in Vedic astrology, the pinky finger is ruled primarily by mercury, who generally governs over commerce, oration, public appearance, travel, transactions, and communication. In Hindu tradition, he is represented by the color green and by the emerald, whose name in Sanskrit translates to “the green of all living things”.
very interesting to know, thanks.
What he said.👍
Also in the Hindu Mudras they connect Fingers to Elements & the Last Finger = Water (Color Green = Heart Chakra 💚)
paganism, categorising and assigning supernatural powers based on arbitrary myths
Thank you for that piece of lore! 🙂👍 Can you also tell me which Hindu God the Roman Mercury corresponds to? 🙂
Hey TGV, exciting news: I did it! I purchased my grail, the Omega Speedmaster Professional (caliber 3861, hesalite version). I'm over the moon (excuse the pun), chuffed to bits and high as a kite.
Thank you so much for introducing me to this great hobby and giving important insight into horology, the world of watches and watch-related culture!
Best regards
Klaus
WOW, congrats my friend, that is amazing. Ahhhhh the quintessential Moon pro eh?!??! No wonder you are chuffed, I'm so happy for you, thank you so much for sharing that with me. May it bring you a you a lifetime of joy and happiness.
Onwards and upwards my friend!
Best regards,
TGV
Congrats on that beautiful piece, enjoy it🙏
Congrats on a great piece , always makes me feel good wearing the speedy ( mines the 1861 cal)
You forgot “pure class.”
A Rolex keep/increase its value in the future, oposite to Omega who fall in price.
I've worn a pinky ring for almost 30 years. Never knew it had any significance at all ,except for the fact I like it .
I'm just not sure why one often feels instinctively inclined to do it 🤔
Very interesting knowledge. Thanks for sharing.
@Stovacious I've heard that that action of joining the index finger and thumb produces a hand sign some people call the 666 sign. Since the index and thumb make a circle, and the middle, ring, and pinky are the curved part of the 6. Weird stuff
I'd forgotten much of the limited study I'd done on mudras, thank you for the details and reminder! 👍❤️🙏🌈💞
So in other words the real meaning the pinky ring is for gods of communication (Hermès, Odin, Mercury, Thoft, Horus etc.)
Your filmmaking is impeccable. I absolutely love these.
This comment moved me
Your lifestyle videos are the best! Please don't stop enriching us with your knowledge and culture about different things. Honestly, it's a breath of fresh air
When I watch these videos - there is a moment where I almost start persuading myself that I could pull off a velour tracksuit with a pinky ring and two tone watch. Then I realise I am definitely not cool enough to achieve this! Great video as always - down the rabbit hole on pinky rings I go ….
No matter what you wear i believe the essential point determines your style as a cool one is how you carry it loving your self and having selfconfidence is the key point to shine even in most basic outfit my dear friend...🌻🌻🌻
Go for it my friend, I am sure you can pull it off, life is short and if it makes you happy, go for it.
Thank you for the comment my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
You can definitely pull it off. If you’re thinking it and watch videos like this you for sure have that cool factor in you. Just let it out
No one is, my friend
I’m of the same mind!
Gillespie not only wearing that awesome ring, but blowing the trumpet, is on another level.
I just discovered your video channel today and thoroughly enjoyed it thank you for all your efforts
Thank you so much Chris, welcome aboard!
Best regards,
TGV
wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! as usual, your presentations are not finished until you say, "Ciao". thanks for everything
Wonderfully pit together documentary.
I'm fascinated by the history of jewelry. I am an aspiring jeweler and have always had an interest in the meaning behind wearing certain pieces of jewelry, so this video seriously caught my attention.
I want to find the books you were reading on rings now. 💍
Wonderful presentation and well researched, success!
Wonderful delve into this fascinating subject.
You have a golden narrator voice! 😅
My uncle was a Lawyer and had 2 black & gold onyx rings he wore . One on his pinky and the other as a wedding cigar band . I was always fascinated by his rings . My dad on the other hand didn’t wear jewelry much . He only wore cufflinks and tie tacks .
This type of content is a welcome addition to your watch rants and reviews. I’m happy to see it’s return
Fabulous insight into the history of ring wearing. I wear my late father's bespoke wedding ring on my left pinkie and thus he is always close to me.
After my kids grew up and I moved across the state. The first piece of jewelry I bought myself was a gold band diamond ring for my left pinkie. To signify self.
Wow. You can really see the amount of work that went into creating this video. Great job, TGV.
Intriguing historical facts of the pinky ring, good classic Ice Cube track very nostalgic. Thanks Gov’nor!
Been looking forward to this.
As usual...you didn't disappoint.
🙌🙌🙌
So glad, thank you.
Best regards,
TGV
I have a gold Masonic ring that was bought from an antiques store several years ago when I first became a Freemason. This video has inspired me to wear it more. As it only fits my pinky finger, I have been reluctant to wear it because I didn't want to look "gangster". Now I know better. It's a reminder to me to be the best man I can be, and also serve my community with pride and respect.

Your content is often far afield of my personal interests, but your research, delivery and respectful ebullience bring me back. Glad to see how far you've come on YT! Continued blessings to you. 👍❤️🙏🌈💞
The ring at 11:19 matched your jacket beautifully
This guy would make a good Bond villan
Haven’t watched in a few months, but always refreshing to see a video of yours
Sorry to hear that 🥲 welcome back!
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
I'm wearing a pinky ring on both hands at the moment and never felt comfortable wearing anything on any other finger.
It always brought me a sense of of elevated power and I've always wondered why.
I love learning the roots of the deepest parts of our culture embedded in our psyche
One or none…
@@joeyc8622 If I had a third pinky finger it would be three! Ha ha!
Just Subscribed ! There's nothing quite like getting educated from an educated man . Thanking you AL !
Ant symbolising hard work and industry? 🙂
Fantastic video mate!!! How about a video on other men’s jewelry? Bracelets and necklaces?
Thank you, I am strongly considering it. Stay tuned. Hopefully some time this summer.
Best regards,
TGV
I am a fan of your channel, from India! I have a ring my grandmother gave me as a child, it's made of silver, but it has my initial on it, and it has such beautiful engraving of nature around it, that I never gave it up. As i grew an adult, i had the ring expanded and extended to fit me, and I still wear it on my right little finger. I didn't realize then, what I know now, that it has become a part of me and a reminder of my grandparents.
I have worn a left hand pinky ring for 42 yrs. That's my style nice video.
Hi
Loved the history lesson as I wear a class ring occasionally. Very interesting and appreciated the military academy reference.
My class rings (high school and college) are my most cherished ones. The idea an unwed woman not engaged must leave the wedding ring finger bare is stupid. That's where I wear my college class ring. I earned it!
Marvelous content. long time viewer cheers!

Background choice: a bookcase with a fine collection of exquisite volumes vice IKEA shelves with a lovely collection of DVDs & Blurays.
;-) !!!
Thank you, actually it's from Amazon. but I do love Ikea too, you have good taste.
😀👍
Best regards,

I'd love to see a history of your family. You mentioned your lineage goes back as far as the 13th century so it has to have some incredible stories to be told.
Love the complete history breakdown of signet ring.
Loved the video, very informative
I am so glad you did this. It shows that you are more than just a watch reviewer. Always high production value. always meaningful content
that Lorier looks stunning. Love the color and the clean sector dial!
Thank you
That is a Beautiful idea
Gift Yourself a new Wolf ring.
You deserve it ! Stay Blessed !
My Great Grandfather and Grandfather wore one! I think I’ll re-start the tradition some time soon!
Love these educational/story time videos. This was excellently edited and narrated as well. Keep up the good work mate!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
Best regards,

Superb video. Genuinely informative. Many thanks!
Best regards,
TGV
Great video....very informative....and interesting
Extremely interesting video, congratulations. I have worn my 18ct signet ring ever since I turned 21 and like my Rolex Oyster I never remove it so despite the massive abuse it has received doing manual work like fixing my cars and motorbikes and firing military weapon systems etc, it just looks better due to the patina of minor scratches and dings, so does the Rolex in my opinion although when it goes in for service every 5 years or so some comments are raised !
urban gentry great presentation. context is everything
I could make up a story describing how my father left me a ring when he passed but it'd be a lie. I wear a pinky ring because I'm a bad ass and it represents my first company that slingshot me towards the life I always knew I deserved.
BADASS 😀! You make your DESTINY
Plot twist : That's CAP. your dad gave it to you
@@csmith7506 Exactly. One reason why it's great to wear a pinky ring is because it makes more of an impression when you wave your hand to dismiss some peon away. I recommend that.
Excelent topic. Many thanks, from Mérida, Yucatán, Mx.
Learned so much from this video! Great history lesson 👌🏾
You are so welcome, thank you for the kind words and support!

Felicidades me agrado bastante su video gracias. Sigo su canal ya bastante tiempo espero tener suerte en encontrar los anillos de mi agrado 😊
Thank you for this great lesson! Very proud of my monogram TCV ring (inspired by you) and I hope this will start a tradition that will pass to my twins!
Bro. This remains one of my fav vids you ever did. So universally appealing. Dope music too. I am going to get me a pinky ring one day!
Definitely not my cup of tea however I did enjoy the video. Your wedding ring is brilliant!
Thank you so much Maro, I especially appreciate the open mind despite not being your thing, if only everyone was like you!
Best regards,

Finally a channel I can relate too.
Great video! I love rings, especially signet and family crest rings. Could you do a video on charm bracelets too?
Hi Trish I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this complement. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….🌹🌹🌹🌹
TY for all your hard work and content contributions.. just appreciating
Great video...pinky rings get a bad rap at times. I always notice peoples eyes on my pinky ring. Really like that rectangle birth stone ring of urs, u and I share the same birth stone.
Respect buddy have a great weekend from England 🏴
Many engineers wear a stainless steel octagon ring on their pinky to remind them of the oath they took when graduating. Mainly to stay ethical in their practice.
Nice one, that blow up s scene from Gomorrah was one of the best scenes ever shot on film, that entire series was one of the best pieces ever on film
Funny...I thought I was the only one wearing a Monkey 47 ring🙂
I swear you read my mind! Wow i was just thinking about the pinky ring when i watched Donnie Brasco the other day and i saw Al Pacino wearing one…and i said to myself this pinky ring is like a italian mobster type thing…and next thing you know…what a coincidence that you bring this video up 👀🤯🤣
Good episode. I’d love to see one on the role of pets. From Dogs and war horses, to Japanese Koi or more modern species, like pythons (something I personally keep), I have long been fascinated by the connection. Thanks!
Garret youre the man, you should commission a custom superdwarf pinky ring
Let's not forget the majestic walrus.
Just purchased Myself a 3.6cts Black Diamond 925 Ring that was supposed to be a Pinky Ring.. They sized it wrong though so it now sits nicely on My Right hand Ring finger, I have a Oxford Signet in Sterling (I adore Silver) with My Family Crest being Made now too after being inspired by Your Signet Video so Thank You for that TGV
TGV, I absolutely loved this video! Classic Gentry goodness! From the historical aspects all the way to the emotional and personal preferences regarding these tiny but meaningful accoutrements, your in depth education on these rings is a true chronicle. I wear a custom ring that my wife had made for me signifying my military service, but I have considered beginning a collection of rings, as well as watches. I would like a university ring as well as, a few other pieces I have considered commissioning. Your enlightenment on the subject certainly does leave one ready to begin a new quest or hunt in search for that perfect piece for the situation. Thank you for such a wonderful video. Hope you and yours are all doing fabulously.
PS…..Dan Henry released his 1945 today! Will you be reviewing it?
Be well! Onward and upward, my friend!
3 seconds in and I had to give a like, syncing the horns in the music dope
You have the ability to spark inspiration and intrigue in fields I never had previous interest in. Just ordered a ring sizer and have been looking all over the web for places to design and get my first ever bespoke ring. Very well done T.
Onwards and upwards, indeed! Thanks for sharing the history, traditions, and fashion of the ring. Very nicely done!
Very interesting.
Thank you TGV for another wonderful video! I love the way that signet rings look! I currently don’t have any signet rings yet, but I own multiple silver rings pertaining to my Russian orthodox religion with custom engraving. Stay healthy and well as always! (Nicholas)
Very interesting. As a woman I wear a Roman signet ring because I love Rome and Italy.
What a great topic. I've won rings since I was is about Grade School. My mother bought me a brown Tigers Eye. I still own it. Ummm no it doesn't fit, lol.
I still wear two rings everyday. Wedding ring and a ring my wife gave me 42 years ago. A light Blue Star Sapphire Square in shape. I have other rings, but I just enjoy those. Howevee only one Wedding ring.
I've never been able to get used to a Pinky ring. Just feels odd when I'm writing.
I've noticed a lot of new materials that are awesome and relatively inexpensive in rings. Like Tungsten, Titanium, Carbon Fiber even Ceramic.
Thank you for the education. I appreciate it.
Great video 👍
