You summed it up well man. These newer cast trucks have a lot to offer for performance, one can progress very far on something like Cal 3s without really feeling held back. I've skated DH for 12 years now and haven't had precisions for the past 8, only been cast. Gonna be getting some Zealous once they restock though.
I started 40" top mount basic trucks with a santa cruz the freaky eye, upgraded to 97mm wheels and that amped the boards experience THEN upgraded to caliber 3 trucks, great, and a drop through deck, it's got so much speed it's still scary. But I got a kahuna big stick for it too! Rayne demonseed, I also love mixing 3 in 1 oil with silicone lubricant q8
Many OG skaters think that precisions are just a waste of money for beginners. After having watched several guys learn on modern DH setups, I strongly disagree. People are progressing way faster than back in the day. Especially if you don't want to skate switch (who even does that nowadays?) or don't want to do stand up slides at all, you should definitely get precisions (if you can afford it). You WILL be able to tell the difference. "BuT wE dId ThAt StUfF oN sToCk PaRiS v1!!!" Nobody's saying it can't be done but you'll have a much easier time skating on precisions. Look, you can drive an old beater car and it will still (probably) get you places but you'll have a much easier and less stressful time driving a newer vehicle. You don't have to be a pro driver to tell the difference.
I wouldn't say they're a waste of money, but most precisions are for a more focused riding style. I've seen beginners be held back by things like narrow Ronins because they lack the fundamental skillset and knowledge to overcome and take advantage of the increased grip. I'd also say there's a mental element to it. Confidence is the number one key to success in skating, if someone doesn't feel confident in what they're riding then they will struggle more. So for some people having gear that's "the best" in some way is how they unlock that confidence, even if the gear being good isn't actually what made the real difference for their skating.
I’m not that great at skating , but precision trucks are so fun. I personally really like 1 Degree of Freedom trucks , and just unique ones that stand out I’ve got a set of Rojas 2020s on one setup, and Scythe Reaper Excalibur trucks on my main setup (85-100mm !)
*Another banger video, hot topic!* 🤙🏽⚡️🤟🏽⚡️👌🏽 I like the value of cast trucks but I don't ride super fast, I would love CNC trucks at lower price points though 😂 Precision will probably always cost A LOT more 😭 Lookin sharp bro 🤙🏽
Great video and happy to be a beginner, but continue to do learn slowly. You know you’re a beginner when: 1) you’re not ready to sell your kidney 2) max speed is 40 mph (fast, but not that fast) 3) can’t do a pendy on one leg >thank you for being the you tube victim for us. You make it all fun. 🤩
Planning on getting my first precisions what would you recommend, i was thinking valks, or dont trips, would you say valks are just hype or they actually good?
It entirely depends on how you like to skate and what you prioritize. Valks are great trucks for freeride, but not the most competitive for racing because the grip they offer isn't super aggresive compared to something like Ronins.
I'm watching the video at 0.5x speed which is akin to edging. The answer at the end is going to feel great

Excellent video as usual... I've seen them all and learn something new in every video!

Couldn't agree more. Every time I've wiped out on a hill is because I got scared, lost my nerve, or started worrying about falling.
oh wow when did you got 10k subscribers?? is that ok if congratulate you now? anyway, grats bro!!! 10k yay
Thank you! Feels a bit hollow lol, but I'm stoked nonetheless

Bro can you please do a review of those 48⁰ 160mm Cast Rogues? I cant find a single review of them

Personally they gave me more confidence as noticed improvements to wheel speed straight away
Do u know anything about Helium Trucks? I found an affordable set but don’t know what should I be looking for
On your comet cruiser what precision truck would you want on it? And how about the bushing can you still use these stock ones that come with it.
probably some surf rodz. Apparently they're super nice so those would be fun to play with
Planning on getting my first precisions what would you recommend, i was thinking valks, or dont trips, would you say valks are just hype or they actually good?
valks if you don't mind spending time setting them up. I don't recommend Dont trips, I haven't had enough experience with them and various models

Form my experience the beginners who starts on expensive trucks is able to go fast but technique and style always lacks
btw what you think of those cuei bushings?
never tried them unfortunately ...
Wall is overexposed. Need another take.
YES Daddy Abuga has justified my poor financial decisions
