The fuzz is definitely Phoebe. Compressor is Ross. Distortion Racheal. Chorus is Chandler, and Phaser is Joey, who is my fav character. I don’t think there’s ever been any argument that he isn’t the funniest! … and wait, where is Monica? She keeps everything organized so she must be like the power supply and cable management on the pedalboard 😆
If you all have another 25min go check out the documentary JHS just released about this relaunch!! It's SO good and clearly shows everything about why this is such a good partnership
It's great JHS is bringing back Ross. I still have, and use, my Ross distortion from the 80s. Funny that Lee mentioned Arion pedals as I got the Ross and an Arion stereo chorus (which is fantastic) together when I bought my 1st guitar. The guitar was a POS so it went but over 30yrs later I still have those pedals. Great video as always. guys!
Brilliant demo! Man, all of those sound great. Kudos to Josh and his team at JHS. I'm immediately going for the Compressor. And super kudos to Pete & Lee for their humor, Lee's knob twiddling, and Pete's playing. Cheers! (oops, I mean, Friends!)
My missus just walked in and said great you are going to watch Friends! I told her unfortunately not but she does like Danish Pete and the Captain so joined me to watch anyway!
If I could afford it, I think I'd just take these pedals and call it a day. I hate multiple knobs and they seem to sound good. MXR has been my favorite thusfar.
This video is made all the better by the revelation in the best gear of the year video that Pete wouldn't stop playing that riff for like a week or so!
I had a rack mount Ross graphic EQ with about a million different sliders on it--I used it in the effects loop on my Valvestate 100 to tighten up the tone and give it an extra bit of "oomph." I honestly never realized they did pedals too. Very cool!
If only more pedal manufacturers made Fuzz and Distortion pedals that cleaned up and were musical and usable at low settings. We don't all want extreme settings. These are impressive.
That's my whole thing, man. I like a sort of cohesion between my rhythm and lead tone, so I ride out the volume knob a lot. I really don't like using a sound, then stepping on something to make it completely different. No, I just like the same thing, a bit louder and dirtier.
Gotta say that these are darn impressive for the money (the prices have been released now) and the old analog tech just has that rich sound without a ton of tweakery. And who doesn’t love a Captain and Pete demo?
That - to me - was one of the most structured'/ best 'composed' demos you guys have ever done and I don’t know if it's bcs of the stripped-down nature of the line, Pete's masterfully improved and EFFECTIVE (npi) threading of 'the riff' into every pedal and style, or both, but really great work all the way down to the final mix crescendo. Nice one boys!
Though I’d bet she has zero “fuzz,” Rachel was definitely the reason to watch. And thanks to whomever controlled he thermostat in that always chilly apartment.
I had a JHS Dyna Ross mod that I sold years ago. I’ve had multiple compressors since then but that pedal was best and has lived in my head ever since. Looks like this might finally be the replacement I wanted.
My first amp back in the 80's was a Ross ,many happy hours spent with a terrible SG copy and a Ross distortion pedal(the old ones were black) when the speaker gave out I shortened the cab and turned it into a portable head it was surprising how good it sounded when put through a good cab.
I feel a visit coming on. My brain says Compressor (though I have built one) but my heart says...all of them! Oh, and Phoebe, it's always the quite ones!
Phish guitarist Trey Anastasia used (Or still uses?) the Ross Compressor.... And almost single-handedly drove the prices of used Ross Compressors up to astro-levels as more and more guitarists wanted that pedal on their board! I had one that I (of course) regret selling... But I got almost $500 for it over 13 yrs ago! Now that there is A Ross Compressor available that doesn't cost $1k I'll be able to get one!!!
While I know nothing about the original Ross line, I like these pedals (despite Pete playing the Friends theme every two seconds) as the controls are simple and the sound range seems flexible. With them being priced at £189 they are not the cheapest pedal range but I can see them being attractive to someone wanting some nice sounding pedals that are easy to get the most out of. They are also electrically quiet so I can see them being good in home studios as an alternative to more premium 'studio grade' gear.
That was awesome! Never heard of them. They sound great. Kustom Amps I've known about all my life, John Fogarty still plays them. They looked like the seats in a hot rod from the 60's. Very cool.
My friend had an old ross amp that he gutted and put in a gas can, lol! It was pretty kick ass considering we were just kids who were just starting to learn!
I laugh so hard! Pete you have to try Phoebe's chords: "Lesson one: Chords. Now, um, I don't know the actual names of the chords. But I made up names for the way my hand looks while I'm doing them. So then this is "Bear Claw", "Turkey Leg" and "Old Lady." And yes, we are on a break!
That new Fuzz pedal is a keeper. Really nice. The Distortion box should be renamed "Overdrive." Great tone, but hardly a distortion machine... Awesome video, gentlemen!
FRIENDS - which pedal are you? •Rachel. Compressor. Never gets old. Rach-tio cmon. •Monica. Distortion. Silicon mode gets you the later era with plastic surgery. •Joey. Fuzz. Its a lil crazy and simple (uh circuit wise too) but still you love it the most. •Chandler. Chorus. A lil boring but could it BE more than all you need to make your cast or pedalboard a bit more interesting? •Phoebe. Phaser. You cant understand it sometimes. Recycle knob gives you more of the environmentalist activist vegetarian side of Phoebe. •Ross. Well at this point it’s “Ross” Scott aka Josh Scott. Too tall, awkward, but very affectionate and obsessed with Rachel or the compressor or pedals in general.
Keeley based his compressor design on the Ross compressor, the original 3 knob, the 4 knob, and current Compressor +. Of course he tweaked and added some features with the different iterations, but the basic circuit sounds fantastic. But, that's why I won't be buying one of these new Ross compressors, already own a Keeley. Love the aesthetic of these though, the recessed knobs look great.
I must admit I went a bit silly on pedals for a couple of years but now I’m well and truly over them and can’t really tell the difference between one chorus and another.
The fuzz is definitely Phoebe. Compressor is Ross. Distortion Racheal. Chorus is Chandler, and Phaser is Joey, who is my fav character. I don’t think there’s ever been any argument that he isn’t the funniest! … and wait, where is Monica? I lost my Ross Compressor in hurricane sandy. Excited to finally replace it without spending $1000 bucks. 😊
haha so , i have a Ross amp . which someone nicked the compressor but maybe i should be taking it withme instead of leaving it behind .
That’s odd… I got mine during hurricane sandy… 😜
:( 👍🏼
@@Williamwerenberglol
Did you get one?
This is cool. Still have my early 80's Ross Paser/Distortion double pedal with attached power chord.
(And I have the box, Josh!)
Good show, as always.
I still have my Morley Deluxe Distortion box, got it from Ezzy's Music.
"He has the box!"
If you all have another 25min go check out the documentary JHS just released about this relaunch!! It's SO good and clearly shows everything about why this is such a good partnership

Great video as always. guys!
Vibrato = Pitch up and down
Chorus = Pitch up and down + Dry signal (non vibrato)
That why they alway in the same box
Brilliant demo! Man, all of those sound great. Kudos to Josh and his team at JHS. I'm immediately going for the Compressor. And super kudos to Pete & Lee for their humor, Lee's knob twiddling, and Pete's playing. Cheers! (oops, I mean, Friends!)

These five plus a Carbon copy!
I'm excited to play the fuzz pedal, it seems really versatile. Especially with the last 25%, fuzzy wuzzy.
This was an extremely entertaining watch! Nice work Andertons
My coworkers keep looking at me randomly laughing like an idiot every time the Friends riff pops up outta nowhere. Ahh, so good! 🤣
😂😂😂
This video is made all the better by the revelation in the best gear of the year video that Pete wouldn't stop playing that riff for like a week or so!
Great sounding pedals - especially all together at the end! Don’t know about the other characters but I’m definitely thinking Monica = Compressor!
That Fuzz sounds fantastic
So no one told me pedals were gonna be this way! *SLAP SLAP SLAP SLAP*
I had a rack mount Ross graphic EQ with about a million different sliders on it--I used it in the effects loop on my Valvestate 100 to tighten up the tone and give it an extra bit of "oomph." I honestly never realized they did pedals too. Very cool!
Never heard of Ross before, but their low noise, clarity, and refined sound makes them sound great for Studio recording. Good job JHS.
I only knew about their compressor, these all sound pretty good though.
If only more pedal manufacturers made Fuzz and Distortion pedals that cleaned up and were musical and usable at low settings. We don't all want extreme settings. These are impressive.

My first pedals were Ross, I was given them by a family friend, some nostalgia there! I wish JHS well with this brand, they're cool.
Pete just makes everything sound good 💜
Gotta say that these are darn impressive for the money (the prices have been released now) and the old analog tech just has that rich sound without a ton of tweakery. And who doesn’t love a Captain and Pete demo?
That new Fuzz sounds killer! gonna have to add it to the collection.
JHS has so many Fuzz pedals now though, and they all sound great ...
Yeah… I ordered one as well! 😀
@@sordel5866yes. And this one sounds great as well
For me, a good distortion pedal is just on the brink of fuzz when dialed to 10. This pedal seems to do that nicely
I'm still using the Ross distortion I bought in 1979, and my first amp was a tuck-n-roll Kustom head and cab! F*ck, I'm old...
Excellent Chorus and Phaser/Univibe.
We were on a break!! Hahahaha! Nice touch, Danish Pete.
I'll be really interested when they release the Gunther pedal.
Retractable knobs are soo useful when gigging.
Tis true. Gigging with it stuck out is so crass. Like this comment.
I've got a old Ross pedal that you actually plug straight into the wall and have never seen another like it still sounds awesome.
Famous vibrato guitarist/song: Lonnie Mack - Wham! His was the tube vibrato in a Magnatone amp.
I had a JHS Dyna Ross mod that I sold years ago. I’ve had multiple compressors since then but that pedal was best and has lived in my head ever since. Looks like this might finally be the replacement I wanted.
Diana!

I really like that fuzz pedal. The distortion isnt bad. I like to hear their take on an overdrive.
Guys, all the pedals are “Ross” from Friends, obviously.
Pulp Fiction is amazing! The pedals, though... They're exactly what they need to be, plus the side switch is a great extra!
Vibrato can be used in Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
Phish guitarist Trey Anastasia used (Or still uses?) the Ross Compressor.... And almost single-handedly drove the prices of used Ross Compressors up to astro-levels as more and more guitarists wanted that pedal on their board! I had one that I (of course) regret selling... lil bit of my soul died during that opening riff. damn you Pete.
5:43 anyone else hear a little Austin Powers inflection when Lee said "mode"? lol
Vibrato adds a lo-fi vibe to the guitar sound, Mac DeMarco loves it!
While I know nothing about the original Ross line, I like these pedals (despite Pete playing the Friends theme every two seconds) as the controls are simple and the sound range seems flexible. You can buy a Keeley Compressor, a much better version of that pedal with low noise and a blend knob, for less money.
They all sound great! But then, that guitar... that amp... that Pete! 👍
No one told me Ross was gonna sound this way!
I live across town from the JHS shop and I can hear Josh laughing from my house. I think he started crying at the outro.
Now I can finally get "THE SOUND" that Ross created. :)
Bravo gentlemen. Over on the jhs video my break comment got one like
I love this intro Pete!
I think you guys underestimate our love for FRIENDS 😂 I could listen to that riff all day! Ross is my favorite which makes this even more awesome 😆
That was awesome! Never heard of them. They sound great. Kustom Amps I've known about all my life, John Fogarty still plays them. They looked like the seats in a hot rod from the 60's. Very cool.
Captain Lee, you just need to watch the Mick and Dan shows when they talk about doing wet dry rigs… that vibrato would sound great in a wet amp!!
My friend had an old ross amp that he gutted and put in a gas can, lol! It was pretty kick ass considering we were just kids who were just starting to learn!
I like how the knobs pivot
I laugh so hard!

Hard to tell with a Telecaster.
OKay, the pedals are back, but i want Kustom to come back too with amplifiers & organs like they did in the 1960s/1970s
If they were Joyo NuX or Caline you could have the lot for the price of one of these.
FRIENDS - which pedal are you?
•Rachel. Compressor. Never gets old. Rach-tio cmon.

@ 21:15. All of the vibrato lovers just went up in flames! :D
I still have and use an original Ross chorus on my board, love it. But I am tempted to get the re issue to compare them
All of them together sounds like if Friends intro was done by Smashing Pumpkins 😂
The Fuzz is super cool...ALL pedals are Very good ...
Great fun as always, fellas. Cheers.
Damn, I remember these when I worked at Carlsbro in the late 70's/early 80's. Great to see them back.
You two are the best!
Wow.. that was one of Pete’s best jams at the end… 😮
I can't be the only person who is old enough, but never heard of Ross pedals..I am aware of his Kustom amps and cabs, just not the pedals.
The chorus is Regina Phalange... lol that one killed me ....
Fuzz and Fazer slay, others also very good! Nice
I thought the "chorus" was actually a flanger, which I quite like it :)
Hahaha. One of my favorite shows of all time. Fun review as usual. Thanks, gents!
Wahey... All we need now is for Heinz toast toppers to make a comeback
21:15 Unless you're playing "Building a Mystery"...
WOW a $50 pedal 3x the prize but I'm old . so what do I know!
He killed me with the Friends intro 😂😂😂😂😂
Cor, that Danish Pete fellow is good at the guitar!
Okay, I guess Pete has found his signature lick.
Pete steps up to the challenge and squashes IT!
This is some "Corporate" I can actually get behind for once.
I think Lee should have a talk with Madison Cunningham. Maybe about her JHS signature Pedal Artificial Blonde. 🤔
I hope they do the 4 knob flanger. My favourite pedal but its US voltage and im in NZ
I must admit I went a bit silly on pedals for a couple of years but now I’m well and truly over them and can’t really tell the difference between one chorus and another.
Nice. The Ross v5 pedals go to eleven.
Madison Cunningham is an always on vibrato champ! X worth checking if you haven’t already :)
Man you know Josh loves a proper pedel box and manual.
Phoebe would be a ring modulator.
The Ross compressor really stands out.
Perhaps combine the phaser and chorus for a better univibe.
I think it's the taper of the potentiometer
Never got into Friends. Wake me when there’s a Seinfeld pedal
21:23 Lee was definitely telling Pete to get out
Phaser, chorus and compressor sound the best to me.
During the distortion but Pete made the friends theme but more like the power rangers lol
The Guy that started ROSS Pedals ( The Boss of ROSS)
Looked like the kind of guy Roger Cook would of been running after in the street.
I can only assume the script for this video was 13 pages… front and back?!
