The horseman is my main drive pedal. Absolutely amazing pedal. Silver mode for single coils, gold for humbuckers. The tones are immense
I literally just bought the Horseman yesterday and the Tubeman last June. It hits the Mayer tones right in the sweet spot. NUX is doing all the good in the guitar world.
The company actually pronounces the name as "new-ex". We've been handing NuX pedals at the shop where I work for years and they provide a ridiculous "bang for the buck" value across the board. You really should do a separate video on their Atlantic reverb/delay. It's a "full size" unit (more in the $150 price range) and is easily one of the best kept pedal secrets available today.
@@sagittated- if you see how it's written on the pedals and website et cetera it's a 'nu' with a stylised hyphen 'x', so Nu-X. The ones I've played have been good
Nux sounds better.
We know how it's pronounced we just call it nucks for fun 😂
I got a used one for $100. It's a good pedal. I like that it has tap tempo, and you can hold the reverb footswitch down for shimmer when on plate mode, and on spring and hall settings it'll sustain the note. It also can switch between series/parallel. I finally have an amp with an effects loop so I'm itching to try it out set up that way. It can also do stereo too which I have yet to utilize.
@@pabcrane No-one who wants to be taken seriously should spell new like that. Spelling the name Nu-X is trying way to hard to be cool and is just begging for people to pronounce it Nucks.
😂 haha when Pete said he will show you his nux morning glory 😅and the captains involuntary giggle
This video is seriously cracking me up! 😂
Guys, I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be pronounced “new-x”, not “nucks”…. 🤣😂
NUX is an incredible brand. I bought their Might Air practice amp about 4 years ago and it's packed with features and still works fantastically.
I am very happy with the 5 NUX pedals I have. The Voodoo Vide is really good, the Ace and Queen of Tone are both great pedals and stack well. but the best value for money is the NUX NDD-7 Tape Echo, it is as good as the Boss at half the cost.
I enjoy watching you guys with your gear reviews and humor
I’ve had the Morning Star for a while now and have been really happy with it. Also have a couple of their multi effects pedals from their CORE series. Really well built and I like that they use silent button switches.✌🏻
I have a few Nux, my favorite is the Nux 2 stroke convection oven. They do make pedals that have no right being as good as they are but their microwaves and 2-door car options are unbeatable and they come with pedals.
i own a couple of Nux and again
this company never failed to amuse me with low cost!
The NuX Monterrey Vibe is excellent, great Univibe and fantastic vibrato and with tap tempo. Stunning value for money!
Excellent video chaps. Funny, entertaining and a very good advert for most of those nux pedals i think.👍
Love this! I have a NUX pedal that combines that Klon and Blues Driver. Very cool stuff!
Ran a horseman and morning star on my rig for years. Great pedals for the price
That last bit at the very end is hilarious!
so glad you're doing Nu-X now. i have the horseman and love it. also have the amp academy and the mighty air. obviously they're a budget option but still great!
i had the vibe. sounded great. great feature set. tap tempo. very cool.
I have the horseman and considering I picked it up used for $40, it’s not bad at all. Great video fellas!
I’m a simple man, I see a new Andertons blindfold shootout I click and watch it immediately.
They do make great pedals for the money. I own several and have not been disappointed.
I have their Analog Chorus and love it. Can't beat that $60 price point and it sounds killer.
darn that was so close wiv all the pedals great vid guys (MORE).
I watch this channel more than I would prefer. Great job gUys
That boost with the OD built in is really cool.
A little shrill but they didn't even try to take it down slightly. I've used the Tone City All-Spark which is supposed to be closer to the EP Boost and that pedal sucks
I have the NUX Morning Star as my "always on" overdrive, and run it into a NUX Horseman to add a second stage of overdrive, and it's great.
I have a Lacerate boost and it's fantastic. The only boost I've found I like more is the JHS Solo Boost, but it's a CLOSE second.
I had a drink every time Pete said something "sounds great man" and now I can't feel my toes.
Can one ever really feel one‘s toes? 🤔
I have their tuner, horseman, and space echo. They do good stuff
i used to watch my grand daughter watch un boxings and reviews on youtube and i couldnt understand it and now here i am. Keep up the good work lads
For anyone wondering, the Brownie is likely a copy of the Mooer Cruncher, which itself is a take on the MI Audio Crunch Box
I got their ukiyo and the analog delay, they're SUPER cool pedals.
They actually are amazing pedals nux!!
How you guys ever get any work done amazes me
I'd have no issues using the NUX morning star and brownie. They sounded great.
The NUX Atlantic dual delay/reverb pedal is really nice for the money
LOL Love the little "flute" overdub over the PH ditty. Should do a NUX vs Tone City video next
Hi guys, this video is incredible and helped me a lot because I started playing my teles again and I needed to hear these classic pedal sounds. I'm going to purchase the boost and the nux centaur clone. thank you very much.
Been using NUX for a few years now. The Cerberus served me well for many gigs. The Plexi Crunch and the String Singer are an awesome combination together.
The String Singer is awesome on its own, it was my always on pedal for a long time it really fattens the tone up and ads a little sparkle too.
Ooohh can't wait for the Nux Trident demo vid now!
What I like most about this "vs the Real Thing" format is that there are - by definition - no glaring omissions in the range of pedals that are being compared.
(Although it does leave me wondering how my Mosky OCD and Mooer Blues Breaker would fare 😛)
I dunno maybe the Brownie vs BE-OD?
My dudes, I have both the NUX analog delay and chorus…I will say, they are really awesome and I’m glad I got them.
Bought a Nux Horseman when they first hit the market and love it.
The Nu-X stuff is stupidly good at any price. I've got an old Drive Core that is so good, really one of my fav drives.
I love my Morning Star!! It's become an almost always on, low gain pedal on my board.
I tried both of em and i liked the tube screamer clone more, different strokes for different folks!
For the similar endevours in the future you guys could get 2 units of the original pedal to demonstrate how different can variance in the tolerances of the components sound. Obviously would not apply in this case because of Klon but you could have thrown in a tumnus in there
All the NuX pedals sounded good, particularly the Lacerate, and Horseman.
The video is great! A am so glad I found your channel.
Love to hear the Voodoo Vibe ! Heard it’s as good as the Fulltone -looking for the Trower sound 😳
Another great episode, guys! I'm using a Mosky Golden Horse pedal. I paid 29 euro for it. The sound is amazing. The Klon is definitely the most overhyped pedal in the universe! Although this is not Bill Finnegan's fault at all. Cheers from France
My mosky died after 6 months, defeinitely worth spending a lil bit more to get more quality components.
i have two nux pedals, the plexi crunch for example is very cheap build but sound decent imo but just don`t expect too much for that low amount of money. the mini style pedals seem to have a better build quality compared to the larger ones, especially the knobs are really crappy.. cheers
Angry Charlie is the best Marshall in a box pedal ever made imo. The tone city M pedal is also amazing .
Congratulation NUX you have reach Andertons😍😍🙌🙌
I have on my board a tube man, lacerete boost and they have beaten my ts9 and tc spark which I ended up selling them both, I´m still debating if my plexitone from carl martin will stay against the plexi crunch from NUX, which has more gain and a mids control, they REALLY make great sounding pedals but not just for the budget, NUX are making really pro stuff and also their pedals look beautifull.
Only issues I’ve had with NuX pedals are noisy switches. I’ve had to return quite a few.
My NuX looper has been fine though.
I have the NuX Horseman and Atlantic drlay/reverb. Both cool pedals.
Very impressed with the boost and klone type pedal
I have three NUX pedals, a Brownie and a Horseman and a Steel Singer and they are amazing pedals.
Thanks for this Guys. I am making a mini sized pedalboard based around the NUX Amp Academy that I just bought to try out and it`s OK if you go deep into the settings on a PC and dial in some more respectable sounds ( especially for the high gain amps ) Anyways not intended to be my main source of Guitar sound this board in a small case would be nice to take anywhere and plug into any Media/Hi-Fi speaker system that I wanted and I have my eye on a couple of these mini pedals to add to the Nux Amp Academy and mini tube screamer that I already have. Nice one
I got a Queen of Tone dual overdrive and it fits well with my cleans and edge of breakup.
I love watching these videos, because I play my guitar on my own, not in a band. I reckon the differences between any of these two pedals would be completely lost in a band setting, playing together even with just a bass and a drum, let alone with some keyboards or a second guitar.
I have the NU-X amp academy and its pretty awesome. One of the best products they make in my opinion is the Mighty Plugs, essentially the new one.
The only pedal I've regretted selling and bought again was my NU-X Cerberus. Put a tube amp sim preamp In its loop and you have everything you need.
I use the Xvive Golden Brownie from the Thomas Blug series... wins by a hair over my Wampler Pinnacle!
Dang. Definitely want to get the Lacerate.
I have the Tube Screamer clone. Its not nasal sounding like a real one and has more gain. Im very happy w it.
I have been using NU-X pedals for a few years now and the are way better than the “affordable” label given. They are tone monsters and worth and a place on your board on any occasion.. 👍🇦🇺
Ive had mixed results with "affordable" pedals including a Caline that failed on day one but I have to say the couple of Nu'X pedals Ive bought including the Nu'X JTC Drum Looper have been exceptional and great value for money.
From 15:00 - 16:00 The left side has more definition which presents the notes better! On the right side, the notes flow together in a more mushy way, you cannot distinguish the different notes of the strings in a good way!
That Lacerate just Stole the show! WOW 😳
Must be frustrating for some people that a 5,000 dollar pedal sounds exactly like a 30 dollar one.
And the cheap one is less noisy...
i've have The horseman on my live pedal board for years now...... wonderful low gain solo boost pedal!
Pedal sold by Anderson’s nearly wins shootout with Klon shock !!😱😱 they certainly did sound pretty similar though.
I think this video proves what most pedal demos prove in secret. Buy cheaper pedals and spend the real money on the amp.
perfect
I have a nux steel singer and it's not a dumble as claimed, it is instead one of the BEST version of a tube screamer pedal around, at a fraction of the price, same kind compression, a bit less nasal, it's now stable.on my pedal board side by side with way, way more expensive buddies
Brownie Lacerate and Horseman all sound great in comparison to the others to me .
How are Andertons so late the Nux party. Have been using their stuff for years along with other more expensive stuff. It’s very cool
Wow! Great demo. Love it. Tone City, Landlord and now Nux. Has there ever been a better time to buy budget pedals?
Yes, when the originals weren't at inflated prices by a bunch of inflated-gut blues dads
@@quiksilver78 Haha! I think I’m probably one of those but without the spending power!
The Charlie Brown isa a JTM45 Blues Breaker, the Angry Charlie is a JCM800- and the Nu-X pedal is a VanHalen Modded Plexi, the "Brown" sound was called that because the first time Eddie stumbled across it, he was playing and there was a brown out which starved his amp and gave it a different, darker tone. To emulate that he had a Vari-ac installed in his amp so he could select the voltage it ran on and starve it that same way- to get that "sag" everyone talks about in his tone. That's a power amp pushed to the breaking point, which is easier because you lowered the headroom by running it at a lower voltage. It's the same as taking a pedal that can be run on 9 or 18 volts- when run at 18 it will have less grit and saturation and more clean headroom.
Please have a look at the NUX AMP ACADEMY. I am thinking of getting one and really respect your opinions.
Weeping with laughter at Pete threatening to get his morning glory out
Not physical pedal related but I have the NUX mighty plug bought from Andertons. Has a pretty wide range of relatively authentic tones….(and great 3rd party app) Unbelievable for only £60…
The mighty plug is great, but the new mooer p1 takes it even further imho. These things move so fast I have a draw of them cause I keep trying more lol.
It’s good given how many years we had the amplugs as the only real option
Yeah, agreed. I’m old….and my budget stretched to a DS-1 and a Big Muff when I was a kid….for less that the price of 6 months batteries for those two I can now get a device where I can sound like Kerry King, or Eddie VH, or Guthrie Govan or….um, Taylor Swift…at the press of a button. Awesome.
Just got the lacerate yesterday, great sounding boost. The one thing that DOESNT come across in the video is that when the boost mode is activated, its gets incredibly muffled. The EP boost is a darker sounding boost for sure, but the lacerate is MUFFLED. However the regular mode is well worth it!
Pardon my ignorance, but has Andertons done a demo of the NUX MG30? Super curious to see it here.
I have a NUX Amp Academy and it's so damn good for the price
I bought the Queen of Tone pedal and the tones are nice. The dealbreaker for me is the momentary silence that happens when you turn the pedal on or off. Doesn't seem like it would be a huge deal till your on stage and it becomes a huge glaring thing when you your about to take a solo.
Hey man, good to know: I had the Horseman and its dynamic and all but needed a better EQ and stomping on off the modes and the pedal off made me crazy..., Im in the final stage of pedal buying, just bought 2 of my oldies bacK: DOD Looking Glass and BOSS OD-1X, to give my darkish Jazzy Strat tone a bit of coolness( DOD) and blues( OD1X),
My latest treasure is the VERTEX Dynamic Distortion V2: SUCH softness with touch sensitivity clean: it now decides which pedals are necessary...! got a deal brannew half the price in Finland 98€s Viiking Music: they also send abroad, so maybe contact them! and all the vids just crank the gain and body cause it says Distortion...!
It really is true that if a great pedal doesn get hyped enough, it will be forgotten..., stupid marketing world...,
Cheers from Finland , Kimmo
Have NuX tuner and tubeman on my pedalboard. Best quality/price ratio.
I'd like to see Pete's Morning Glory next to The Captain's NUX 😂😂😂
Nux makes a fairly decent Dumble style pedal as well.
I have all of these pedals and use them regularly on my board. I totally disagree with the Captain's opinion that these are a good alternative if you can't afford the more expensive version. I have some of the more expensive versions and I prefer these!
NUX Horseman was my first pedal ever.
Technically the morning star is based on a bluesbreaker but only in that the JHS morning glory is based on one. I believe the morning glory is the pedal nux is actually cloning and would've been a more appropriate match up.
thanks for the comparison, i would pay 150 for the Nux vs that Klon at 4-5k $. Hype isnt worth wasting your money for relative same tone.
We've had their pedals for several years, and you're just getting them in the UK now?
That boost is phenomenal, actually made me think about replacing the spark mini for the first time ever!
Remember its not so much the boost pedal your hearing rather then what the front end of the Friedman sounds like when its pushed. Thats where the magic is not in the pedal per se.
The old Katanas, are selling for $150-240, and higher depending which edition it is.
I was looking at one to but, then he told me $200, and I told the guy, I’d rather buy the Keeley Mod Workstation, for that price used, and get to switch between Katana and Bluesbreaker, with the Phat Mod and the right effect mod section.
@@Paul-DException is when the crank is engaged, which reminds me of a LPB past noon with the benefits of the FET added.
Going to try one since the digital version found in NUX pedals doesn’t quite hit it, so to archieve a sound close to I currently go low with a LBP into a Red Drive with close to no gain, just a hair for it’s clipping character and boosted volume into a modelled SLO100 @ pre 50% gain and all the mids.
Gives me a rock sound that is close to yet heavier than a boosted JCM 800 without ending up with to much gain, but even with a noisegate I still have to watch my positioning when playing rythm at low guitar knob volume to avoid feedback, for leads it’s ok, since that way I can get feedback instantly when I want it.
The Lacerate might do what my chain of 2 boosts does with less of the additional noise caused by 2 units, besides adding slightly more threshold for feedback.
Might sound like a weird setup, but it works as intended in a rockband with 2 guitarists and 4 vocals, in the way that I have the sound the band expects, leave enough frequency space for everyone and cut through when I have to play a solo, basically same settings as for recording, we got everything dialed that way to avoid mess in the low end and ensure that everyone can be heard both just with the backline as through the frontend.
Seen quite a lot of great bands that mess their sound up with to much gain, volume and EQ settings that bleed into eachother, add the demand of getting more of your own sound in the monitor and it gets even worse.
I have one, it rocks!
The one downside is a slightly cheapy feeling plastic pot that's easily bumped. Besides that it rips.
@@JorisGriffioen Plastik pot? You mean the pot or the knob?
If knob, easy to replace.
Pot doesn’t bother me since it will be always on, but I understand that it will be an issue on a board where it is stomped on.
I think that the brand name is pronounced nu-ex.
I have their rotary speaker sim with octave called the Rotary. It's really good
The Faun Shop joke is so fantastically danish xD
Nux horseman is a great pedal.
I have the Kokko branded version of the Tube Man (branded Overdrive). I found it terrible. Really lacking in grunt. I might just have gotten a badly made one however.
I also have the Kokko branded 'Distortion' pedal which is the same as the NUX Brownie but a darker red. This one was not bad actually.
rob vs pete blindfold challenge :D thats what we need
