    If you want to do art as a career I highly recommend You do a foundation degree in it. Specially if you don’t see yourself doing anything else. If you have doubts you can still do a level art but you won’t get nearly the same experience. It gives you so much more exposure to different mediums and lets you improve and develop your skills much much better. Compared to a level art you aren’t taught skills you have to develop that on your own which adds to stress and takes time away from a level. It is doable, but it’s much harder and more stressful.
    (At least that’s what happened in my experience)

      Roease thanks I was freaking out a bit about art a level because I don’t really like the teacher :/ he caused me so much stress last year and I know that with a level it will be intensified. It’s good to know there are other options and that I still have a week to work it out 😬🤷‍♀️

    hi! tysm this video rly helped me as i was considering choosing art for a level but now i've changed my mind. i enjoy drawing when i do it but it's extremely rare as i always procrastinate or forget to do it. i'm trying to make more of a habit of it but i'm in yr11 now and i'm not taking gcse art so i can't experience what such an intense and time consuming subject like art would include before going all in for a levels. i think i'm gonna work on my art skills in my own time and maybe sometime in the future i'll come back to it as a subject so i can do it as a profession. i don't usually comment on your videos bc i'm lazy but your content is really good and you bring light to my subscription page jsjlsksd

    • @yorkielover2676
      @yorkielover2676 3 роки тому +1

      Hmm well I don't do A Level yet, but what are you specifically struggling with. I get you when you say there's a lot of work, i think that you just need to do what you can in smaller parts, i feel like ppl overwhelm themselves thinking about it, but maybe thinking about it in parts can help. Like assuming you have to do 4 different pages in your book, with different drawings, writing, etc. Maybe starting with getting the writing and photos organized before can help you to have an idea of what you are gonna draw or paint, etc.
      with the ideas part.. i mean.. there's nothing wrong with using the internet as inspiration, like there's a lot of different vids and images out there.
      Idk if this rly helped. Good luck though

    i know this is realllly late but i just wanted to say thank you! you went to the same school as me because i remember i was in yr 10 when you were working on the boards with the layered dots as they were in the same classroom as my lessons. at that point i had almost given up on art due to how time consuming it was and the lack of a consistant teacher but slowly seeing your progress with them every week (and they were incredible btw- my teacher showed me them to progress my art!) i decided to stick by art and at the end of year 10 i ended up getting my work displayed at the mall galleries in the art exhibition the same year as yours! it’s work like yours that has now made me decide to take a level art (even though i know its gonna be stressful) so thank you for inspiring me to keep on going with art!

      Carina Mae i did a big (nearly 2m long) board with 5 of my sisters face on! i completely get what you mean about it being time consuming- took me houurrrss! and thank you!! quick question bc you took 4 for the first year- do you think 4 a levels with art is manageable? i’m just worried bc the other options i was planning on are very time consuming and content heavy too (bio, chem and history or psychology) but i love art and really want to do it! x

      @@esthermay1990 I definitely think it's worth starting with four but going in with an open mind and being willing to drop one if it gets too much. Oof that's the real tea! I'm in year 12 taking English Language, Spanish, Psychology and Art. I want to drop either Spanish or Art to spend more time on the rest of my subjects. I'm very aware of the different but serious types difficulty and workload of both Spanish and Art but I'm still trying to weigh the pros and cons. I'm doing AQA for both and while I enjoy the process of producing art itself the structure of my course is a little meh and I'd rather do art in my own free time. Spanish is going alright so far but I'm worried about taking a third heavy-content subject considering how English and Psychology both have strongly essay/ written-based exams. What do you think about taking 3 dense a-levels? Would it actually be just as manageable as taking 2 dense ones with Art if not more manageable?? I know dropping art will give me significantly more time but since it's mostly practical work I feel my brain can take a slight breather with the learning and memorisation of academic material. I like the two subjects more or less the same... Mostly worried about academic workload if I go with Spanish and develop my art skills in my own time.

    • @CarinaMae
      @CarinaMae  6 років тому +4

      In my experience art takes up considerably more time than Spanish and especially if you have high aims grade wise, however as you said it isn't academic in the same way as Spanish is. For me art proved very stressful due to the sheer quantity of work however it was more chilled when I was working as I could just put on some TV in the background. Personally I think it depends what you want to do at uni and therefore what grades you need, which subject you enjoy more, which you think you'll do better in, and which you'll find less stressful. If you do choose art I would definitely recommend working hard at it now so that you don't have to catch up loads in A2 like I did!

    • @CarinaMae
      @CarinaMae  6 років тому +2

      Hope that can help a bit!

    • @vinccichung5355
      @vinccichung5355 6 років тому +1

      Yeah weighing the pros and cons and going back and forth with my decision has been stressing me out D: I honestly can't tell which subject I'd do better in since both have such significant jumps from GCSE to A-level. I don't plan on taking either of those subjects in uni so it's not a main factor for me. While I can chill through the production of art I feel the workload will cause continuous stress throughout the two years of the course. Meanwhile stress from Spanish would probably be an accumulation leading up to the actual exams, which applies to my other two academic subjects... How did you find Spanish content-wise? My main concern is taking all subjects with heavily written-based exams @@CarinaMae

    • @CarinaMae
      @CarinaMae  6 років тому +2

      I didn't find Spanish too bad but I think you need to get on top of the topic content early on and you won't struggle too much. Spanish is a subject you can build on gradually so as long as you put in the work to do that, you should be fine! The essays aren't fun but there also not as bad as I expected
