I will say, I honestly appreciate Peppy's moment of emotional vulnerability after the Pigma battle.
"I just don't want to let anyone down again..."
That last word is very important, there. Peppy was there for Pigma's betrayal. Peppy escaped. His friend didn't. And now he's following his friend's son into battle.

I love how much personality they give the characters, especially Star Wolf.
Also, I'm pretty sure the song that plays while the player fights Wolf O'Donnell is the same song that plays in the 1st level of Star Fox Assault. I don't think I've heard the original song in any other Star Fox game except Star Fox Assault.
Didn't think Ubisoft would acknowledge that game's existence. :D

With the Mario movie coming out and the Donkey Kong movie rumors happening, I'm really wanting a Star Fox movie. These cut scenes are so good! Just imagine us 90s kids seeing all these characters get movies and eventually see a SUPER SMASH film 🙏

Damn. They really nailed it with this. Not only are the StarFox team's characterizations are good but so are StarWolf's! Each member on the same team feels natural yet fitting like when Falco makes fun of Peppy's age or the entire bit with StarWolf arguing, and when faced with their foils (ie. Falco and Leon, Slippy and Andrew) it feels genuinely rewarding to hear the dialogue when the battle is won and how good the rivalries are between them.
I miss StarFox.
I especially liked Peppy and Pigma's rivalry. The two of them clearly hate each other with Peppy wanting revenge on him for betraying Starfox to Andross and for getting James killed. Also, Peppy feels like it's his own fault too for not anticipating that Pigma would betray them and for not being able to save James from death.

God I loved playing Star Fox back then growing up as a kid. They seriously need to give Star Fox a brand new game
Problem: The story is good, and the game is mostly nice, but the game just gets weird when you completed it.
It seems alright, but I wish they'd push things forward again, like having Pigma be dead, and stay that way, along with bringing back Krystal to Fox's team and Panther to Wolf's.
I love the part in the beginning when Andrew and Pigma are fighting and Leon just quietly rises up in the foreground, got a giggle out of me when I played! 9:30

I love Star Fox’s involvement in this game. It also gives me an idea of their height when placed in the human world. I kept thinking they would be on the shorter end, like Sonic, but turns out they’re taller than Sonic.
They gave the characters their N64 characterizations! Yes! For some reason, Posh Leon makes him more unique. I find it funny as well that Pigma sending that distress signal kinda was the only reason we foiled his plan.
Those are the original Star Fox 64 VAs, just clearly older
And didn't Pigma tried pulling this trap in another game, faking a distress call, then cause trouble for them.

I just recently started playing Starlink The battle for Atlas again & God I've missed playing this game. I'm still happy that they put Star Fox in the game & same for Star Wolf.
The last part of this mission where Star Wolf turns their attention directly to the Equinox was actually surprising. But then again, the Starlink Initiative did work alongside the Star Fox Team in tracking down Wolf’s lieutenants. That was very bold of Wolf to go for a direct assault on the Equinox.
wish there was a way to replay this whole mission set without having to start a whole new game over again. XP
Also, doing the final battle using only the Arwing's blasters makes it a challenge but a fun one in my opinion, and I did it on Hard Difficulty.
I just recently started playing Starlink The battle for Atlas again & God I've missed playing this game. I'm still happy that they put Stsr Fox in the game

Man... Ubisoft really nailed them here. They should just ask Nintendo to develop a new game for the series. If they can nail stuff like this and Mario + Rabbids, then they could make more big bucks in making games for Nintendo's neglected franchises. I mean, SEGA was involved in F-Zero GX/AX's development, so... yeah.
Yeah. If they are willing to put the poor sales for this and zero aside, maybe Ubisoft can succeed where Platinum Games failed.

At 9:32, Leon rose onto the holo screen in a rather creepy but slick way...... Also, he must feel like a babysitter while being alone with Pigma and Andrew as those two are a couple of man kids.....
Hahaha, yeah, which is also the reason why I actually liked them getting kicked out before Assault. Pigma cannot be trusted and Andrew was only in because of at that time Star Wolf was working for Andross. Replacing them with Panther made the team look more credible and serious, plus I think Pigma works great as a standalone villain and Andrew is by deafult design Andross's sidekick.
I only wonder why they never introduced a new female character as a new fourth member, like that would have been the obvious design route.

Some routes of Command has Krystal leave Star Fox to join Star Wolf.
@@slimballs9650 I know but these would hardly be considered canon. Afaik Command is supposed to be the end of the Star Fox storyline and is followed by the reboot Zero, which means technically Crystal doesn't exist at all right now.
They'll bring her back for sure though, she's been a trophy/spirit in Smash for too long now that they can just retcon her out of existence.
Btw, I am a fan of the reboot, because, while I love the storytelling since Adventures, I think most of the games actually had nothing to do with Star Fox, Adventures was Dinosaur Planet, and Assault is the Star Trek version of the Star Wars parody concept used in Star Fox. Command takes great liberties in its design choices for the multi-path storytelling, giving players no feeling what's true and what not.
A new series should focus more around fighting Andross and Fox finding his dad.
But didn't the first few games already focus on that aspect? You know, with Fox trying to find his dad and his team fighting the forces of Andross.
@@madness9651Perhaps they intended for Command to be the last game in the 64 storyline. But since that game flopped so badly, it pretty much ruined the series' reputation at the time because everything about it was a complicated mess. I guess that's why Nintendo decided to reboot the series with Zero and why they chose to ignore everything else that came after 64. Krystal, Panther, the Aparoids, etc.
I loved this game. I just pretended it was a whole StarFox game while playing all of it.
What I don't understand, Is why no one is questioning exactly what that giant red holographic head is in the final phase of Wolf's fight! It resembles the strange giant skulls in wolf's outlaw hideouts and the in game characters don't even react or comment on it! It also resembles the skeletal face peering out of the red void in Star Fox Adventures.......
Well those holes in it are similar to the hyperspace traps that the Legion and Outlaws use in game. Since Wolf was stealing Legion tech during the campaign, it would make sense how he made those, at least to me. After all, whenever the ship got caught in it, it acted like it would if it didn't slip through a hyperspace trap hole.
Between Starlink and Zero, Wolf's team does seem to be picking up a tendency to develop various "special attacks" for their ships, don't they?

This could’ve been the perfect star fox game
What we got is still very good if repetitive if you go for everything. That said, it’s a strangely addictive kind of repetition for me, and I don’t know why. I think this is better than Adventures and Command if nothing else.

@@thegreatestever913 You know, I thought an interstellar expedition like the crew of the Equinox would carry guns for crew protection. One cannot be too prepared for what the cosmos may throw at ya.
The Star Fox team has their Blasters as part of their standard equipment. It's just part of the uniform, and allows them to be combat-ready even if they end up on foot. They're mercenaries; soldiers. The rest... it's not unreasonable to assume they have weapons they can go and grab if they need them, but Star Fox are the only ones that just have them at the ready at all times. Most of the rest of them are explorers and researchers and scientists and the like. Hell, maybe the rest of them keep a sidearm in the cockpit or something.

Same VAs, except for Andrew, who is actually voiced by Fox’s VA. And Wolf is voiced by his VA from Smash.

It's REALLY poor compared to 64 3d especially. Falco doesn't sound too bad, but the other characters are just awful. Fox's voice is fine, but the script they're having him read is shit.

There’s a world of difference between extreme cheese and “Yeah *long pause* Star Fox Team 1 *longer pause* bad guys, 0.” I had to click off the video as soon as Fox started talking during one of the space battles. He seems much better in the cutscenes, but god is his in game script terrible.
