Mind blown once again, brother! This gives us an idea of what Ed was doing day after day at 5150 in the dead of night. No need for singers when you create music that holds on its own as instrumental like this one does.
I'm happy I found that channel for all the detailed, well executed and commented covers of the songs nobody else covers and that I love. Thanks to you, the documented library of Van Halen cover material for us to learn from keeps growing and being more complete !
Simply brilliant man. I’ve been listening to this for about a week. Never even heard of the original VH track before and just now listened to the original song. I think I like your “no vocals” version better than the original song. Dave’s voice sounds like their last album, “Different Kind of Truth”. Not his best vocals and kind of distracts from the badass track that this is. Unbelievable job recreating Ed’s sound. You should have a million subscribers. Keep up the great work. You should be extremely proud of your accomplishments. All the best to ya man. Keep jamming. Peace ✌️
love this tune and Edward’s stylish playing on it - I always thought this was a talk box on the guitar solo and the only time Ed ever used one on a recording - i really love his solo on this tune and how it has such great feel for the breakdown and talk box part then he just goes off after it builds to a great crescendo - the 2 new tunes on the greatest hits CD - this one and Me Wise Magic were further proof Ed and Dave were like peanut butter and chocolate- great together ! are yo playing a Wolfgang special here ? I got one this past year in Chlorine Burst and it’s a beautiful guitar
Job well done! Man, Ed’s stuff was the most cool & unique. I always loved this tune, sounded like a cool B Side off 1984 that got left off the album. Wouldn’t be surprised if Ed had written the music around that time.
Thanks Patrick! Yes, Eddie is the most creative guitarist and maybe musician of all time IMO. And I agree, this does sound like something that was written around that time.
It must feel so good when you hear your finished product, it looks like you did it in one take thats how good you are but im sure it took alot of patience to get it damn near perfect...
Thanks Tony! It does take a LOT of time to work these songs out for sure. Not just the playing but the tone and the effects. I think this one was about a weeks worth of work for me.
Super job on this, everything is spot on, tone, chords, note selection, etc. And in response to your question in the solo, I was always thinking this effect was a talkbox. Never saw him do it live, but it sure has the character of a talkbox. If it's not, hats off to Ed for figuring out an effect that surely matches it. Keep up the great videos. I really enjoy your comments that you make in them, they're like your chemistry notes from the lab on figuring out these songs so perfectly. :)
Thanks! And thanks for letting me know about the talk box. I knew you guys would come thru on that. I think it is great that you guys find the note helpful. Now when I'm practicing the songs and trying to figure the tone, effects, etc, I will make little notes when a eureka moment happens.
Hi, great job! Brings backs the memories. I had a killer time back in the day learning this one/Me Wise Magic/Humans Being, all the F.U.C.K. tunes. These albums introduced me to Van Halen, I love all VH but those 2 albums have amazing tones never duplicated, and hold up against even VH1 IMO. Alex's drums are the best as well. You've done a job on all the VH tunes.... Dream is Over and Pleasure Dome are my all time fav VH songs. BTW, the beginning of this solo it's a talkbox (MXR I think), with maybe the phaser kicked in too with the panned delays/H3000 micropitch. Great job!
I think he used a talk box for the solo. Sounds good with the phaser and great cover bud ... and definitely a hurtful stretch in the intro.. almost have to saw your hand in half haha 😂
I knew your channel would grow my man. Sadly your own creations have not as of yet taken off like I thought they would. Nevertheless they are works of greatness. Toss 1 in there every now and again, you have earned that right. When you get around to it, if you care, do Van Halen, Push comes to Shove. You're the man for the task. 👍✔
@@TheRetroGuitarist man I didn’t even think of a talk box, because I never use them either. I was thinking, Flanger if anything else, but the phaser sounds great and close enough! Great choice, I wouldn’t change a thing😎
Sounds great as always! Excellent playing and tone! Can you please put up the backing tracks to this song, Me Wise Magic and Pleasure Dome? Just drums, bass and vocals maybe. I can't find those anywhere and would really appreciate it.
@@TheRetroGuitarist Awesome! Thank you. Keep it up. Your channel has inspired me to play and practice more than I have in years. Thanks for the inspiration.
Eddie found some uniquely cerebral chords. They sound big, too. The third chord could inflame your arthritis, however. Look at how Eddie sacrificed his fingers for the love of music.
@@TheRetroGuitarist Absolutely, great idea. Imagine a new box set of that, something that's never been done before in the rock music world, I don't think anyway. I used to be a bartender at the famous Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake/Burbank area from '99 - '02. Ed was a member. I met him one time when he came in. He had Wolfie with him. Valerie used to bring Wolfie in too, this was back when he was 10 years old. I used to serve him his ice-cold bottles of IBC Root Beer that he loved. Probably still does. On a side note, Dweezil Zappa was a member at the club too. There's a whole history on that place that no other private golf club can match.
The people that make these decisions have no idea what they are doing now. These are the same dipshits that collapsed the music industry as we knew it back in 1996-2000. Making this decision would take a little creative thinking and these people do not possess that ability. Rick Beato has a video about this and it is really sad.
Getting the notes is one thing but getting that swag is another, awesome!!
Nice job. I love how so much of Eddies music can stand alone without lyrics.
Thanks and yes, Ed's rhythm playing is the best and there is no comparison.
Love the upstrokes, after hearing people play it both ways I think it must be the way Eddie played it. The sound is just dead on.
opening riff after the intro
Ed had Matt Bruck use the Peter Frampton , Joe Walsh talk gizmo with the tube in the mouth.
Oh good to know! I knew you guys would come through!
Absolutely fantastic. Oh and that Wolfgang middle pickup selection is just about one of the nicest sounds ever.
Glad you liked it and yes the neck and the bridge at the same time is magical.
Man I've been working 24hrs I'm zombiefied! I even have drool running down my chin, i had to crank this loud to get me home! You're a life savior!
Watch out man! You could be hit by a distracted driver while you're asleep! :-)

Thanks! Yea, the time and effort it took him to come up with this stuff is mind blowing.
The vocalist who sang this couldn’t keep up with the flow of the chords.
yessss!!! never see this one covered, and it is one of my favorites
These chord nearly broke my hand. I think that might be why not many cover it.
I can listen to u the whole day...great job, i have been a van Halen follower, u do justice to his music, never had a chance to play..I WISH
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Hell yeah, one of my favorite Van Halen songs! You freakin nailed it.
Thanks Uncle!

Wow, thank you King!
Awesome job! Eddies rhythm playing was just incredible.
Thanks! Yea, his rhythm playing is the best.
Great guitar example that people can watch how its accomplished. Excellent job!
Thank you kindly!
Great cover man! Love this song and you nailed it! Love the feel

Thanks Joe! I agree with Dave's voice here. At this point, it had changed and did not have the same quality to back the 80s.
Wow... Awesome covers! Im learning a lot with you! Im trying to made some VH covers too and your tips... My god... Awesome!
Man that is great to hear Andre! So glad I could help.
Awesome tone brother
Thanks man!

You are right, it was a talk box. And yes, it is the Special 2016 model.

Thank you so much 😀
What an amazing album that would have been! Too bad they only did the two songs. Great job by the way!!
Thanks and I wonder the same thing myself. It was definitely a miss for us VH fans.

Great job on the playing and tone. This is a tough one to duplicate. That stretch down to the fifth fret in the intro and outro is pure evil.
Thanks! Yea, that stretch is tough. Lots of stuff going on in this song. So many little things that you aren't aware of until you try and play it.
You are the best ! Maestro ! So easy for you !
Thanks a LOT! Not so easy though. :-)
Phenomenal cover man. I think this is the only time he used a talk box (for the solo).
Thanks! The talk box! Thanks for letting me know.
Excellent!
Many thanks!

Awesome cover. Glad you choose this track, great song. Excellent playing!
Thanks Jeff! I was waited to play this one until I got a hand on the tone. I think it is pretty close. Glad you like it! :-)
nice one dude!!!
Thanks!
Just amazing. Well done 👍
Thank you so much 😀

You should actually do you're original one
called { Let's Go! } I told you it was face melting. I think people need to hear it.

Amazing playing! And the phaser sounds great.
Thanks! Even if it would have been a talkbox I don't have one so...

I was telling the guys at the music store about your tone and skills about today. Expect some new subscribers.
Thanks a ton! I really appreciate you spreading the word.
Bad ass !
So so good . Great tone, playing and could you release the backing track so we could jam along?

初期の楽曲に拘る人が多いけど エディが好きなんだね🤣🤣🤣 僕も同じ😊
I think his playing got way better as he aged. This song is as tough as any to play.
nice playing my friend! what camera are you using?
If I may place a request: could you cover "Don't Piss Me Off" by David Lee Roth ?
It's not Van Halen but it's got really cool guitar parts.
I'll have a listen!
Eddie found some uniquely cerebral chords. They sound big, too. The third chord could inflame your arthritis, however. Look at how Eddie sacrificed his fingers for the love of music.
Talk box to me for the first part of the solo
Eddie should've put out a solo album or two or three.
I think they should release all of the albums as just instrumentals. There is definitely an audience for it now.

White knob and three white tuning keys… interesting
Yea, it gives it a little more depth with the colors.
Whaaat? Maaan you can’t tease everyone with Get Up then follow up with NOT Get Up lol.
Man, I cannot figure out the tone! Driving me crazy. I even replaced the pickup with an EMG and it is not even close.
