I always thought he used a talk box for the first part of the solo, no? Also yeah I cannot for the life of me get that outro down lmao so great job nailing that especially.
That sounded killer!! And to answer your question, I think the beginning of the solo was a talk box? Not 100% certain, but that's what it sounds like to me.
Nailed it this one of my favorite VH songs I love this track! The first few times I heard it I thought the solo had a wah on it but it was the phase?! Your awesome bro🤟🏻
Again, another awesome job here!! So spot on. It's so interesting to see the intricacies of what Edward was doing on a song by seeing it so close up in your videos. Loved the two songs with Roth on that greatest hits collection, sounded like they picked up right where they left off in 84. Shame the reunion tour didn't happen then.
@TheRetroGuitarist you need to do a sit down talk of your experience with VH Guitar Hero let people know the reason for why it was made the way it was.
This is yet another great video man. I’ve always wanted to learn this song and go through the process. You’ve inspired me to take the time to learn this one. One question though. How in the world do you count that outro lick as 4/4? I’m not seeing it that way at all. Even with Alex playing way against the lick I don’t see how you are counting that. To me that’s when the brothers are speaking their own language. Like the intro to Girl Gone Bad, Panama intro, or the whole of Pleasure Dome. They have a unique sense of time. I’ll dive into that lick and see if you are right.
Thanks Matt! If you count the one every time he hits the F you'll get it. So on the low E string, that is tuned down to D, the D-E leading into the riff is on 4 of the last measure. So when it hits the F that is 1. It just repeats that.
It's a 2016 EVH Wolfgang that is satin red. The neck is not baked maple, just regular maple. I think the lighting makes the colors look off in the videos.
@@TheRetroGuitarist Yea the lighting does play with that color a bit, still a beautiful guitar and your playing is awesome. Keep it up! this music and your covers are truly appreciated!
First half of the solo was in the wrong position, you can tell he’s playing it on thicker strings. And the speed picking bit he’s going up the neck on one string, that’s trademark. He doesn’t play it like a conventional scale changing strings the way you’re doing it here. Hard to fault the rest. You’re also upstroking the chords which 90% of people doing covers miss.

Yes Eddie does use a talk box for the solo
@@Warhawk-zk9vc yeah but he couldn’t use it himself. His tech Matt Bruck operated it for him. Source : EVH interview in Guitar World

He was so GD good. Nice work
Great cover and great guitar!
Thanks a lot!
It's really cool that you do these uncommon covers.
Thanks! I don't look into if the song has been covered or not. If I like it, I'll do a cover. :-)

Always love a VH deep cut.

Thanks! Yes, it was the talkbox.

Yea, this song is awesome! He actually used a talkbox on the solo. Thanks!
VERY well played! Every bit as good as Eddie would play it! Bravo!!!
Not sure about that but thanks!
It's great to see a fantastic player cover some deeper dives. Loved this and your Humans Being covers.
That’s was a great performance, that song is great. Should have stayed along those lines on the last album.

Thanks Keith! It would have been great if they could have written 6 more songs and done a new album for sure.
Sweat as butter spread pickles! Man, of all the cool tunes eddie wrote, what a fn genius he was! I'm so glad Ed got to meet you, you do him justice
Haha! Love it.
I worked on Guitar Hero VH back in 2009.

This is the only Roth song I actually like. Great job!

wtf
Great job, man! As for the solo part, I always thought he used a talkbox for that part. Phaser works too, sounds great
Thanks Rob! You are correct. It was the talkbox!
I love the sound Eddie got on these two tunes they recorded with DLR for this project. You’ve recreated it perfectly here. Bravo!
Much appreciated!

Glad you liked it!
Love your videos man, is that an orange satin crush? where did you find it with the roasted maple neck? I have only seen them with an ebony neck.

Thanks! Maybe one day!
Where Did You Buy The Guitar?
Got it off Ebay in 2021. It's an 2016 EVH Wolfgang special stain red.

I didn't know Sam Elliot could jam like that!
