I love Eddie, but why Mozart? I hate Mozart. Of course he is nothing like him, and was a rock guitar legend. But it seems cliche. Why not Beethoven? But even then its a stretch. I would say he is our Les Paul. My opinion.
It's strange to think that this and Me Wise Magic are still the last new songs released by the original line-up. MWM gets the more attention of the two, but I feel like this song is more authentically "Dave," in a lot of ways. The exaggeratedly deep verse on MWM always felt kind of out of character for DLR VH. CGTSNM feels more like the kind of vocal he would actually give in VH, and he sings his ass off on the outro chorus. I will say that MWM has a killer chorus, too.
I agree with your assessment of Dave's best fit for the two new songs he and Van Halen recorded in '96. MWM was prog-rock, musically. I don't dislike Dave's lyrics, but I am not fond of his performance on the song.
It's really sad that egos derailed this comeback, it would have been epic. By the time "A different kind of truth" rolled out, it was too little, too late.
dave still had it here too Fuck i miss Eddie never met him but his death really hit me hard like i did know him. IMO the most important guitar player ever 100 years from now he will still be inspiring someone
This proves that if Dave had stayed with Eddie and Alex they would have ruled the world forever. Their music is timeless and fun and super uplifting. We need happy music and we just don’t have it anymore.
To me this is the real Edward . In many interviews over the years , he said he would show a whole bunch of demos to the rest of the band . These are some of them I think . I hate people criticizing they're old songs . So what ? They sound new to me .
I always wondered what Dave REALLY thought of Sammy’s singing until this came out. We pulled over the first time this was played and everyone in the truck said “what the hell, is he trying to sing like Sammy” The first thing Alex said in an interview was “he’s singing differently than he used to”. Both are Really good songs. Was a little surprised by that. Then Gary did the same thing.
@@EnalpriaThey shared girlfriends on more than one occasion, but if you knew anything about the band you would know that. What do you think the song Women in Love came from? Never mind. Go back to sleep.
Unfortunately, we can't get this stuff no more.
RIP Eddie.
Brought a tear to my eye... Amen...
Eddie's picking and guitar work is unmistakable !!!! RIP EDDIE😥😢💔
Ed using a Talk Box. So cool.
"That's the thing about self improvement. Don't get me wrong I plan to get some soon."
His tech Matt Bruck operated it, Ed said he couldn’t use it himself.
I could listen to that outro on loop all day long. So dreamy and hypnotic, makes me remember good times I had growing up.
The outro is the most progressive part that they ever played …I love it …
Eddie--The Mozart of guitar!

I Got Fied From BBC News last Week.
Ed's utterances at the end of the video brought me to tears. RIP the greatest of all time!
May I ask what did he utter at the end of the video?

I love the ending the most. Just Eddie and his brother jamming out.

Grant eddie van halen ..in memoriam. ...the best man. .and..the best sound
The real, mighty Van Halen. Superb.
Beautifull song. ...i liked. ...van halen forever. ..

There's no question who delivered the more funky, grooving sound than Diamond Dave. Those wimpy Sammy love songs were written to be pop hits
Quiet down, peaked in high school 1975 boomer ass.
That's the "Stuff"! 🎶🎶🎵🎤🎸
AWESOME EDWARD VAN HALEN AND ALEX AND MIKE.
the title says it all.
"Dont you have when you have stuff in your.... well... yeah." Eddie to Jason
Eddie's best song!

😢💪🙏 incredible song ❤
The footage of him playing on the couch…I believe he’s at Jason Becker’s home visiting him and playing for him.
@@dusty3913 yep! 100%
One crazy summer ❤😂🎉
This was a lefover from Balance called Backdoor Shuffle.
real vh for sure... van halen for ever
Fantastic job!
Where'd this track come from, haven't ever heard it before, its great.........
It is from their Van Halen... "Best of" album, When David rejoined them temporarily in 1996. They also recorded "Me Wise Magic" for that album.
Really has the 1984 vibes@@TheSoleProprietor
When this was released we thought NO MORE SAMMY VH is back
Sadly not to be
Then he went on to destroy another band
Chickenfoot
96 greatest hits
i Got fired From CBC News Last Week.
Killer
Sad but true.
With Dave they fuck around and experiment. More formulamatic with Sammy.
Dave singing is still good
Wow, actual musicians? 😂
I love how david Lee Roth just casually ruins a song with its lyrics 😢
Sorry you’re too dim to understand them. It’s about Dave’s relationship with Ed.
@@thefonzkiss a date with a supermodel huh

Sammy Hagar would have done this better. The music is perfect, Dave...not so much
Yeah some lyrics about cherries on bananas and being up for breakfast would have really improved this majestic piece of art LOL
@@thefonzkiss 😂 ok that's funny. Nice
Yeah, we can't get this exact stuff no more, but VH inspired LEGIONS🥲✊RIP Eddie, wonderful video!
