    I recently purchased this unit & so far very pleased with the purchase. The fit & finish are actually better than you would expect coming from China. I wasn't sure what to expect when I removed the panels but it appears it will hold up.
    I connected to propane, purged it a few times with the recoil & it fired up alomost instantly. No issues with the app, it connects & works.
    I can't speak for warranty, possibly because there hasn't been an issue. Its much lighter, easier to handle & it seems quieter than the 100lb firman I no longer own which was a beast to load/unload. A LPG quick connect & a couple of quarter turn screws on the servicing side panel would have been a nice touch.

    This is my new favorite channel. It popped up in my feed and I have already watched three videos and learned so much. Johnny, you are amazing. I didn't even know about the syphon for oil or the way to extend run time. In this day and age solar is fantastic and I have it but still keeping a dual fuel generator as a back up makes sense. For wanna be nomatic people like myself, this information is invaluable. Thank you so much.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  4 місяці тому +5

      I asked this and currently they are looking to add sevice locations, but as of right now you would just take to small engine mechanics if items need to be fixed or replaced and then communicate through the email and contact number for warranty items or replacement. Which is like most brands. A few brands have a couple location but many dont unfortunately. So it’s the small engine shops you would go to for anything big if you cant DIY…which these are not terrible to work on.

    This was a great video, thank you! Do you know if you could replace that propane hose with a quick disconnect one and run it directly off your trailer with out that regulator? It seems like that regulator on the stock hose is just a standard one, wondering if you tried it?

      YESS!!!! I have the same setup I use for the pulsar or even the predator 5000. I run directly off my on boards. And since the load regulator is inside this unit it allows for a seamless hookup with the correct propane hose.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  4 місяці тому

      If only a single 15k ac unit this for sure!! 13.5k would be a breeze for this.
      Much smaller, lighter and smaller engine is better on fuel.
      I have no doubt the champion will out live this. If running dual ac units champion 4500 or the like for sure

  • @thepartyhound
    @thepartyhound 5 днів тому

    @johnnysweekends I really like your videos. I think you do a great job of putting these generators through their paces and getting some factual information out there. I recently bought an MXR4000GT. So far it seems to be a pretty good generator. However, on the downside, mine will not pull 75% of it's rated load for more than about an hour or so. 75% is generally where a generator is its most efficient in terms of energy produce vs fuel used. While running on gasoline I had a 2400W load and it was able to meet this demand, but only for about 30 minutes. I assume that it got hot and derated after this period of time as it was able to again meet this load after it cooled down for an hour. This was disappointing after spending $900 on this generator. Did you experience similar results? Your video does not come right out and say it in plain English, but in your video you do allude to needing to run a bigger generator if you are wanting to run more than about 2200-2300w...a statement that I think many would find to be debatable. Generally, a generator should be able to handle its rated load indefinitely, and it's max load for 30 minutes. Perhaps I got a dud. I'd love to hear if others have been able to run at or near the generators rated load for an extended period of time.

      What is the altitude where you are using it and the temps when you were having these problems

    • @thepartyhound
      @thepartyhound 4 дні тому

      @@johnnysweekends This was at about 5,000' elevation which I have taken into account. This elevation would have derated power output to about 2720W...well above the 2400W I was trying to pull. Temps were ballpark mid 80's.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  4 дні тому

      @thepartyhound every 1000 feet you lose about 3/3.5 percent of power. If air density is also not great you could knock another percent or two. So let’s say a honest 15-17% power decrease for altitude. That’s now about an available 2550 watts roughly. And you’re trying to run 2400 plus watts. That’s about 90-95% load constant. These are rough estimates so essentially you are maxing it out. So for it to shut down makes sense. All these factors have to be accounted for. And the hotter it gets the more resistance on all items increasing the load

    • @thepartyhound
      @thepartyhound 4 дні тому

      @@johnnysweekends Correct, 3% power loss per 1kft in elevation gain is generally accepted as what you'd expect to see on a portable generator. I guess we gotta toss out an extra half a percent because it comes from China! 😂 It's strange, my Honda 2200 will run a 2kw load right there next to this unit for at least an hour and a half without issue. I have not dialed in EXACTLY what load I can run continiously with the MXR4000GT, but it might end up being only 100-200w more than the Honda 2200. I guess I was just expecting too much.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  3 дні тому

      @thepartyhound your Honda ran a 2k load for 1.5 hrs? Was it at the same day and time and elevation as the MXR test..? Mine can never do that, well at least that long. It’s only rated for 1800.

    • @johnnysweekends

      @@johnnysweekends so smaller than similar rated size generator, dual fuel, start from app, and dual fuel. And like way cheaper too. Is there any reason to buy the brand name?

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  4 місяці тому +2

      @blairM363 it’s all about what you want. Some people can’t get away from Honda but I can’t see paying $2799 for the EFI unit .
      One if it got stolen I would freak. I go places where if a $600 gen was stolen I wouldn’t feel as bad
      Also people are getting a lot of hours from these other brands now. Only problem is sometimes service or warranty.
      I like Honda but where is the dual fuel … where is a compact unit that puts out a little more power ??
      They need the eu2200i to be a little bigger so it can run a 15k unit but the fuel cell is also to big.
      Unfortunately at 75% load and above is working the gen to hard and blowing through fuel.

      This unit is a fancy version of the GenMax 3500, pulsar 4000df that I’m using and a couple others. The same 145cc engine is now being used in several models. So far it’s been proven and doing well. I still have my Honda eu2200 but now I never use it because it can’t handle a 15k ac unit or when I need more power for a little bit I was maxed.
      This is basically the same like which is why I like it and the weight. It’s a little heavier than the Honda 2200 but I wanna run propane and Honda won’t listen.
      If you don’t abuse these they do fine. Many good reviews have been coming back.
      I only have 5 hrs on mine so far because I have a lot of solar. In the winter I doubt I ever use it.
      But I’m using this and the pulsar back and forth. It’s hard to add hours on two units especially when you have a lot of solar now

      @@johnnysweekends Hey I appreciate the reply, it really is great what they have fit into a compact unit. Also I'm totally sold on propane, it won't see a drop of gas if I can help it. And I agree, Honda in general has to get with the times. Yes they make high quality products with good engineering but some of these new generators really Make the Honda's seem dated and lacking features we've all been asking for for years.
      I'm waiting to upgrade our 5th wheel and then I will go all out with the solar too. I've enjoyed watching you develop your system.

    • @danpatnode6783

      From another video, you can only convert to tri fuel (natural gas) if both regulators are external (so they can be replaced). The included external regulator doesn’t look big enough to be double external so probably has the other built in. Which will be propane specific, so not calibrated for or (easily) replaceable to support natural gas.

    I see in this video you're running the generator off of a 30 lb propane tank. Have you done a runtime test to see how long it will run on a 30 lb tank? I have the Pulsar dual duel generator and plan to run it off one of my 30 lb tanks. I'm curious how long it will run on a single tank at approximately half load. I plan to run a 15K BTU AC, converter and maybe a TV or 2. I am installing a soft start on the AC this weekend.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  2 місяці тому

      It’s hard to find those run times as I never run a gen more than about 4 hours a day at best. But from info gathered a 20lb tank at 50% load can last about 12 hrs roughly give or take. And much longer around the 30-40% load as it is much more efficient around those ranges. With everything you want to run that could be an easy 2000 -2200 watt load. So that’s over 50% load. So shorter run times. That’s if the RV ac stays on all the time and not clicking on and off.

      @@johnnysweekends Thanks man. Love your videos. The campground I frequent is prone to occasional power outages. Last year they had 4 outage just while I was there, no telling how many times it went out that I wasn't there. Some last a few hours while once it was out for several days. That was a rarity as the campground has an antiquated power distribution system. The several day outage was no fault of the power company. The campground itself blew a fuse. This rare fuse was so hard to find that it had to come from Georgia up to Virginia and a crew had to install it. Once it arrived it still took a good part of a day to have it installed. This outage only affected a large section of the campground, not the entire campground. We were there a week and fortunately we only had to deal with no power for a day as once someone checked out of the section with power we moved to that spot. This was still quite an inconvenience as this was 4th of July week and hot as hell. Anyway I swore I'd never be in that situation again so I started researching generators for an RV and that's when I stumbled upon your channel. I started with a Northern Tool Powerhorse 3500. That was just too heavy and took up too much space. Sold it and bought the Maxpeedingrods 3300. That was a great generator but this last outage I had the generator on with me with a full tank but when it ran out of fuel and I realized I didn't have a gas can. Went and bought a can and gas and filled the generator. An hour later the power came back. Lol. That's when I decide it was time to upgrade to a propane generator as with an RV we always have propane on hand and I won't have to worry with carrying a fuel can as well so I sold the MPR and bought the the Pulsar 4000 dual fuel. Haven't used it yet but as Memorial Day weekend is upon us it's in the truck ready to roll. Now you've got me wanting the MPR 4000GT. Man you're channel is costing me a fortune. Lol.

    I didn't have the same experience with that oil extractor. It was hard to pull out oil it. kept sucking air instead of oil and I lost the cap either in my engine or on the ground somewhere idk which, I had to go empty my oil again and put a camera in there too see if it happened to fall in which thankfully it didn’t but it still doesn't explain where the cap went. One last thing was trying to get oil out of my 5qt jug it didn’t work well at all, I had to pull so hard on it that it felt like a work out 😢

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  4 місяці тому +1

      Maybe I can give some tips. First if the new oil is cold yes it will be tougher to extract or suck it up same with the old in the gen hence you want to warm it up first. Second is only use the large tube and not the small. Third is throw away the cap, it’s just something that will get lost anyway. Again the oil when cold is thick so yea can be very hard to pull if cold so you will want to put the jug in the sun maybe before starting that way it warms some. Like anything it will take a time or two to learn the tricks. Nothing is magic, everything is practice till it becomes super quick.
      At first I was like hmm, but I used it 3 more times to make sure, and now i can whip an oil change in like 2 mins. It’s crazy. Again it’s practice. Hope this help..👍🏼
