The mid section heavy shredding and the ending when they do it again just hits the right part of the brain lol. Holy Mountains is prob my fav song by them.
In highschool I used to be sound engineer/sound fx guy for the school's theater class and between classes I used to blast this on big hall's speakers. It sounded damn good. Most other students used to look funny, but the ones that knew, knew.
Second favorite SOAD song ever ever. Possibly number 1. That extended and sputtery scream after the 2nd chorus gives me full body chills every time. POwerful
first two albums, Pure gold. One song alone is great, but these are really meant to be enjoyed the whole way through. Some tracks bleed into others with beautiful leeway. The album(s) on the whole are a wonderful experience. Don't forget the hidden track at the end of toxicity 🤘
This is one of those rare bands that from the second, I heard the first few notes from them they became one of my favorite all-time bands. I wish they were still together.
I've seen them live a couple of times, they frigging rule. All members of the band work so well with eachother plus with the sheer skill and technical ability, they make for possibly the tightest band out there to this day. There's no weak link and they GET HYPE live. The lead singer can spit bars and I'm sure you can tell dude has mastery of the mic.
Man, this song is stuck in my head so well that, when i see the name of the band and the song, it starts to play in my head like i have some mp3 player in there. Also songs like: Static-X - The only, Disturbed - Decadance, Slipknot - Left Behind, Papa Roach - Last Resort, Dry Kill Logic - Paper Tiger, Avenged Sevenfold - Almost Easy, Bullet for my valentine - Hand of Blood, Hammerfall - Hearts on fire and many others, are just pure masterpiece in my opinion. It just stuck with me since then, and now those songs are a part of me forever.
I think your exposure to Tool has made you more aware, at least on a subconscious level, that there's a LOT more to music than we initially think when we hear it the 1st few times. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and took the music of those eras for granted. Now, in my mid-40s, when I go back to the music of those eras, I feel a slight pang of regret because I never really "listened" to them at the time; SOAD, Tool, Rage, et al... SO many messages missed 😪
I absolutely love this song and the vocals are amazing. Definitely check out more songs by SOAD such as "Chop Suey" and "B.Y.O.B (Bring your own bomb) 🖤🤘
I saw SOTD in 98 touring with slayer when they were fairly new at The Birch Hill Club in New Jersey and at the end of the set the singer was giving a little speech and someone in the crowd yelled "shut the F--- up and bring out SLAYER!" He acknowledged and laughed.
Happy new year, @AileenSenpai, long time no see. 7:40 You are so accidently so poetic sometimes. You are correct as well, there is a world of difference between hearing and listening. 12:25 When you zoom out and consider this planet as part of our solar system, indeed this planet is OUR CITY. What's really mind blowing is if you zoom out all the way you see that all of humanity has lived out their life on what Carl Sagan called "A pale blue dot... A mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam." We are so insignificant that the degree of our insignificance is so large that it makes us significant. If you have not heard Carl Sagan's "A pale blue dot" listen to it, maybe even react to it. really Love this band.
Hello Ms.Aileen. been a minute since I've seen a reaction. Hope u had an awesome new year. And can't wait for this reaction. Say hello to the puppy for us. :) 🤘🤘
This songs secret weapon is the amazing drum score 95 bpm along with the bass. People always over the engine running song.. The drummer . At most gigs the drummer it always the first one on stage ready to go while the guitarist are setting up and tuning. Poor drummers.😄 miss you dad rip😇
belated happy and healthy 2023, aileen. SOAD and especially serj are so special and amazing. maybe the release of lovebites new single "judgement day" would be a good opportunity to react to this amazing band.
When you mention how the lyrics about LA being toxic, SOAD has always been outspoken about how vain Hollywood & its culture is It's a theme that occurs again in their songs, "Psycho" and ""Lost In Hollywood" and in Serj & Daron's post SOAD projects
Check out “Holy Mountain” and check the meaning of the song before. The live performance in Armenia in 2015 would be the best for a solid reaction being that is where the entire group backgrounds are based.
Yeah, I think they critique the world and current power structures in most of their songs...not just a specific city as you mention. Don't think they have any solutions but maybe just to be awake at least to what going on...and maybe fight the good fight even if it doesn't work and at least be real and authentic yourself and not slip into a medicated like zombie state. Or something like that! I like your deep dives!
Kerry King from Slayer was once asked in an interview, which band, if any, he thought could ever get to Slayers level. He said System of a Down. And that was the ONLY band he mentioned.
dont get me wrong i LOVE new death metal and shredding and stuff, its legendary, but having grown up in the time when this was brand new. nothing really hits like this era of metal, system, korn, limp, rage etc. it just hit different. but its all relative. btw ive been alive for 36 years and there is no drop heavier and better than 7:03 . and ill fight over that fact
great video🙂. it can be seen that you really like music🙂, that you are not doing it just for the viewership. you are one of the few who can make those reactions👍. I'd like to see your reaction to Sabaton guitarist Tommy Johansson. Swedish Pagans (DISNEY VERSION) - by Tommy Johansson. he combined lyrics from their song and music from a disney fairy tale, it's genius😍, you'll love his voice. thanks for the video❤
"Conversion software version 7.0" for me is that the latest social programming has been downloaded then "Looking your life through the eyes of a tire hub" is that a lot happens in our life yet we miss it, we don't see it cause our perception is too narrow. "When I became the sun I shone light into the man's heart" he talks about when he was happy and social he was good company but the toxicity doesn't allow him to shine anymore.
If anyone's still interested, listen to this album front to back. Toxicity is a multilayered album. I was drawn to it because of its energy, because this WHOLE ALBUM made me move. Best music of the 2000's. Have fun dissecting the lyrics. I know I did. (not)
I had almost forgot that system of a down is where I get most of my ideologies from and thoughts. they influenced me big time. I had even honestly forgot until one day I asked myself why do I think the things I do or believe in the things that I do and then I was listening to system of a down and I thought "that's right... this is who influenced me" serj tankian spoke out alot about the Tiananmen Square incident in China and how messed up it was you might have seen the famous video of the Chinese citizen standing in front of the tank and refusing to move
If you haven't heard it Tina Guo ft Serj Tankian - "Moonhearts in space" is underrated, surreal and quite absurd in the very best ways. In terms of SOAD, can't go wrong with "Prison Song". A song that isn't talked about nearly enough.
Those were the streets of LA and the homeless being projected, And yes the Hollywood walk. The whole song is about the toxicity of LA and the stark contrasts... Toxic in the entertainment industry and the real crap happening outside that world.
I feel like the “eating seeds” is describing the way we are force fed all the things people want us to see. We just eat what they are giving us and forget how toxic that ca actually be.
If there was ever a song or a band that I could request? It would be "Three Days" by Jane's Addiction. One of the greatest songs I ever heard of growing up from the 90s. Your heart will reach 115 bpm.
The mid section heavy shredding and the ending when they do it again just hits the right part of the brain lol. Holy Mountains is prob my fav song by them.

"heavy shredding"
Definitely not shredding but still a good, heavy, classic riff.

Best bass/drum mix on an album ever. Sounds like a freight train.
Bringing it back. I learned this song and chop suey on drums.
more SOAD to come!
Hell yeah bro these were the first two songs I learned on drums too!
@@AileenSenpai the song Forest is also a great song to react to.
Holy shit, I literally missed all of that! Every other content creator take note. This is how you add value to the conversation!
You'll absolutely love the official video for System's 'Question', and it's such a fantastic song.
Great Reaction 🙏
It's a magical song

They are still together, but might as well be broken up 😂
@@cccCCCccc123ccc when did they get back together? Honestly, I stopped paying attention when Serge went off on his own.
@@rcstraka 2011. They released two new songs in 2021. Other than that they sporadically tour and do festivals.

Yer a Riot. Always entertaining. SOAD gets the bones rattling. "Sugar" is my favorite. Tanks.
omg, they have so many jams. Such a great catalogue. enjoy!
One of my favorite songs. The depth is astounding. Serj is top tier.
One of the best rock songs and albums of all time
