Chewie For President 2024 !!! 😇
No calendar? No "12 months of Diane"?
WOW Diane! You are never anything but breathtakingly beautiful! Today you are especially glowing. I hope you have a wonderful day. I know this comment had nothing to do with the song, but you really do take my breath away!!!
Diane, how about watching a funny movie? The Goonies is a good one to start with and The Pink Panther is both a motion picture series and adorable cartoons. 🤗
-“There is nothing coming up about this band using drugs. How refreshing”
“We’re on drugs…We’re on drugs”- Darren at the opening of their live set at Lowlands 2001 😂
Serj and System of a Down was my gateway for really learning about political injustice as a kid. I have such a fondness for them.
Oh god, wait till she goes for RATM
Lol calling SOAD emo is insanity on a different level 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is it!?
@@DianeJenningsMaybe a bit dramatic of a response, but they are very very not emo.
@@DianeJenningsthey’re much more political rock like Rage Against The Machine than Emo.
@@DianeJennings lol it basically is if u r informed about different metal subgenres.😂😂 I know u r kinda new to these bands so it's not a dig at u but the comment itself is insane🤣🤣.....system does not make remotely close to the same music as black veil brides 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fellatio
This was MY BAND.
I used to go into our local music store and just thumb through the new releases. I found SOAD right before they first hit the radio! My bestie and I listened to Sugar on repeat!
Serj's voice just spoke to my soul, the anger, and passion was just right for my 14 year old head!
ill always remember seeing Sugar on TV live, blew my mind, been a fan ever since
Emo???? That’s an insult…
Not an insult but a point of view. And as a SOAD fan, I respect how people describe bands including SOAD.
@@damronartrlc7205 ils just factually false. Tokyo hotel is an emo rock band, SOAD is an heavy metal one.
Don’t mix dishcloths and napkins 👍
@@olivierbossel there's actually an argument that SOAD is actually nu-metal, not heavy metal...
Serj Tankian, the lead singer, is a classically trained singer and it shows with his perfect vocal control and power. They have always been my favorite band.
Crazy thing is, he's not trained, he learned through singing with his father in their home village if I recall correctly
another band I was waiting for you to react to. Their signature song is Chop Suey and some more songs are BYOB, Question, Aerials, Hypnotize and Lonely Day
i love the song IEAIAIO the most. Its crazy when ppl call them EMO. In fact, this reaction is the first time ive ever heard it. Dont mistake Heavy riffs bouncing into melodic great catchy singing as EMO. Emo is for “woe is me; whiny vocalists with almost adult angst.
@@jakeryzo899 They're definitely not emo. Definitely hard of metal though
I recently saw a "reaction" video to your Chicago pub video. You know you've made it when people make content reacting to your content. Congratulations!
You should hear their song "Question!" its simply amazing
i love this band.
they don't talk about what their songs mean preferring to let the audience arrive at their own interpretations. i like that alot
God bless you Diane, for listening to some quality music 😆❤
I absolutely love this! I'm a huge System fan and I love to watch reaction videos. Great video reaction, it seems like you enjoyed the song. System is not like any other band out there, they are just timeless and genre defying. They are just special, I highly recommend you watch Chop Suey, Aerials, Sugar, Spiders, Lonely Day, B.Y.O.B. and Prison Song. All their songs are unique and different from the other, but these---for me---are some of the best to listen to, to introduce someone to a general sense of what System is. Thanks for posting!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🖤🖤
You gotta check out more of Serj Tankian’s solo stuff. I saw him perform with the Cal State Northridge Orchestra and it was amazing; his vocal range is unreal.
Thats the beauty of metal. Everyone can relate to so many songs in their own way. System of a down and a different band named Hatebreed have pulled me out of many dark places. Metal is my therapy if i'm angry or depressed it can ALWAYS change my mood for the better! Love ya Diane thank you for being YOU!
Great reaction. Great band. Aerials or Chop Suey are great hits of theirs to check out.
I love SoaD! Big metalhead & rock dan here 😅🎸🎵🎶🤘 What a wonderful birthday gift 🎁 🎂!
Thanks again for another Awesome Video. This is another Awesome Rock Band
System of a Down are in a genre of their own, there’s no one like them and anyone would be likely to come up short if they tried! Awesome while they lasted
There is no longer version of this track. They are definitely not EMO, they are totally metal progressive.
The album Toxicity is a full masterpiece. Their 3 last albums Steal This Album, Mesmerize and Hypnotize are also great. Their 1st album eponym SOAD is more raugh.
They have no really bad songs, some are harder, some sweater, but you definitely need to ear all of them 😉
Some other iconic songs: Chop Suey, Sugar, IEAIAIO, Deer Dance, Aerial, Spider, Question, BYOB, Revenga, Radio/Video, Violent Pornography, Sad Statue...
Have fun 😊
This is one of those bands that really just defies standard genre classification, it just is. I view them similar to how I view the likes of Gorillaz or Johnny Cash. Sure they're technically hip hop or country respectively but their unique sound, style, and spirit put them in a league of their own.
At 3:05 I noticed that also Lead Singer Serj Tankian of System of the Down voice does have good vocal control singer softly then going to fast paced singing. His voice does have a unique sound to it for a progressive metal/heavy metal band.
Thanks Diane for all you do!🤠
Another great reaction Diane. While i dont celebrate SOAD's catalog i do like them. I will say Serj and Daron get most of the attention but the drummer John deserves more recognition. He's a beast on this song.
Fun to watch your reactions! Great job
Serj Tankian is one of my favorite singer songwriters. Just awesomeness 😎😎😎
At 8:38 Motown has alot of good artist. Motown music is known as R&B/soul music in modern times that started in late 50/early 60s. Diana Ross & the Supremes, Mary Wells, Martha and the Vandellas, Four Tops, Smokie Robinson, Edwin Star, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Miracles, The Contours, Rick James, Lionel Richie, Debarge, Boyz II Men
Thanks for reacting to it Diane!
Today is Spanish Paella Day. Some are made with Fish and Chicken. Though, You can make it with only Chicken in the recipe and it taste good too. There's even a BBQ version make with Beef Brisket, and a Steak version with Steak meat.
what?
Buen día de la paella!!😂🥘🥘🥘
@@alvaro6522 random is the way
Did You know? System of a Down also won some MTV Music Awards in in 2002 for Best Editing and Best Rock Video. Also in 2005 for Best Art Direction. In Europe Best Hard Rock 2002 and Best Alternative in 2005/2006
I find it hilarious you picked the one song with almost no political commentary when a majority of their songs are DEFINITELY social and political commentary. They also made the band to spread awareness of the Armenian genocide if I recall correctly.
2:09 feels like I’m being pulled into a false sense of security
Love your channel and your openness to new music
One word to describe System of a down, talent. Im a rap fan growing up on Tupac and Biggie, but I am a System of a down fan because they were that damn talented.
These guys live are awesome, the energy from the crowd matches up and the vibes are intense. 🤪🤘🏻
I didn't discover them until 2000+ and dang great music!
I enjoyed learning with You today about System of the the Down Band, The Song and Their Journey. I enjoy Learning with You more than anyone else as Always.
Nothing to add just feeding the algorithm and suggesting Chicago 25 or 6 to 4 or if you haven't yet Hi Ren by Ren may be the most powerful song I've ever heard.
My initial reaction was that the band included great musicians and lead vocals, great music writing but that the lyrics themselves were… disordered and in places a bit… silly.
I’ll be interested to see what your comments from the net are.
I like the dynamics of this song and video.
At 5:56 Progressive metal genre sounds interesting. It also listed as heavy metal, nu metal, hard rock, alternative metal, progressive metal, and rock
Great choice for reacting! 👍👍
Chop Suey and Aerials are another good songs form this band!
Hi Diane! Happy Wednesday to you! I had a friend of mine who was really into this band. They definitely have a unique sound about them. The lead singer has some range in his vocals. Not anything that I have ever heard in any band of this nature. Thanks for sharing your insights and thoughts on them. The facts you had read on them were very interesting. Hope that you're doing well. Have a great rest of your week Diane! Be well! 👋😎🎊🎉 Fact: Jeet Kun Do was a style of Kung Fu that was invented by the late martial artist Bruce Lee. The martial art is based on the movements of animals.
Thanks, Diane. Is it EMO? Does it matter? No! Is it good music? Turn it up! If not, turn the station. One could argue for hours trying to fit a band into a niche. I could see you taking on all those gals & guys, fighting your way out of the middle of that MoshPit! I find it difficult to rate a song while watching a video too. I do, however, appreciate your professional take on that aspect.
Chewie seemed a little mopey, my dog always has a little sluggishness after getting a shot. Hope you two are havin' a Wonderful Wǝᴉɍdnesday.
Fighting my way out, is definitely the most accurate assumption! Yeah, he’s been a bit tired this week to week. He has another skin infection. 😢
Bombs…Bring Your Own Bombs. Give it a listen
System of a Down: where you're either headbanging or contemplating the complexities of life and the universe. Also, major props to their drummer for surviving the mic stand incident. 🤘
Serj Tankian and Maynard James Keenan have the best vocals in rock the last 30 years. Imo. I think out of all of system of a Down's albums there's maybe five songs that I don't care for. I think they're an amazing band.
I don't know why but I love the guitar parts in every song 🤣
They were also pretty vocal on their political and social standings, that reflected in their music.
Serj is actually a classically trained singer. It's cool that you picked up on that.
can you link me a source to where that is mentioned? since i am pretty sure Serj is a self taught singer
@@shaggyisbae I had heard the classically trained thing as well, but seems that is misinfo from my searching about Serj.
@@DarionJackman Yeah, in the Rick Rubin interview Serj said he didn't really know what he was doing vocally, but just making sounds.
Speaking of Down…
"The lanky cowboy got down from his horse-which was odd, because usually you get down from a goose." (my favorite Bulwer-Lytton contest entry)
Happy *World Theater Day* , Manatee Appreciation Day, Quirky Country Music Title Day, and International Whiskey Day!
The album is also called Toxicity and they do have a song called “Psycho” that starts off “Psycho! Groupie! Cocaine Crazy!” However it’s in reference to some of their groupies and other bands so not necessarily themselves.
Armenian ( Even Liberal) culture frowns down upon illicit hard drug use. 🙄
My 2nd favorite band ever❤
So, I like this band. I’ll have to check them out for more. Great video.
Another Chicago trip video this week?
Otherwise, Happy Easter everyone!
Thank you for playing it trough.
Yay! A band I actually know quite well in one of your reactions. I'll watch and comment again when it goes live.
Hooray!
I also recommend listening to songs such as: Forets, B.Y.OB, Roulette, Lonely Day, Sugar, Suite-pee, Cigaro, Chop Suey, Deer Dance and Highway Song
Hey Diane! SOAD is what I classify as simply "kickass rock". If you'd like to see some other visually cool vids of them, check out the following Official Videos: "Chop Suey!" (you have to use the exclamation point or it won't play), "Aerials", "Sugar", "BYOB". There are others, but these are my favorites, along with the one you just watched. Love ya!
SOAD is my favorite band. 🗿😎
"My parents were into this band". And now I officially feel old.
Happy Weird Wednesday.I really love this video.
The lead singer, Serj Tankian, has such great vocal control, because he's a trained opera singer. As for them turning down the Grammys, I can understand why, since Metal is not allowed to even be nominated. Even worse, last year's winner in the Rock category does not make Rock music.
WooHoo 🤘🏻🤘🏻
It's an unknown band to me too.
system of a down is its own genre
Hey Diane glad you’re back. Let me guess E.D didn’t want to edit on Monday .
Chick out the song Chop Suey from this band
Exactly what I just posted
My favorite song by SOAD. Good first song to familiarize yourself. If you enjoyed this, you should hear Aerials, which is from the same album.
Awesome song and reaction 🙏👍
At 0:56 Your the Greatest Mom to Chewie. You take really good Care of Chewie. Give Chewie some Treats, Teddy's and Cuddles.
"Lost in Hollywood " by SOAD. I love to see your react for this track.
System of the Down won Billboard Music Award for Modern Rock Artist of the Year 2002.
Lonely Day, Lost In Hollywood, BYOB, Aerials are all favorites
Thanks for the good video 🤘🏻
Well you are diving down a very deep rabbit hole of rock music. I like to welcome you.
Never heard of this band, but I have heard the sound before.
They're not Heavy Metal, they are Nu-Metal, which was a genre from the 90's . Some Heavy Metal bands are Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Accept, Scorpions, Ozzy, Dio, etc.
Definitely do some Black Metal. Ones to check out: Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Immortal, Old Man's Child, Marduk, Mayhem, Satyricon, etc.
Excellent choice for dipping your toe in ❤
I really love this song. Unbelievable!!!!
byob, hypnotize, chop suey, sugar
At 5:10 I like a bling on mics too. lots of shiny little pebbles rocks look cool on a mic sparkling.
Shiny little pebble rocks 😂 you’re so funny!
@@DianeJennings Yay Yay Bling Bling Shiny 😂🥳🎁
Would love to see reactions to System of a Down's songs Chop Suey, B.Y.O.B. and Aerials
Happy Wednesday Diane! You should react to the band Alabama, they were probably the biggest country music band of the 1980s. They had a ton of hits. Old Flame, Feels so Right, Mountain Music, Dixieland Delight, are a few good suggestions.
Time is a funny thing, pre-Chicago Diane sent this video as a message to post-Chicago Diane
Time travel 🧭 woooooh!
@@DianeJennings lets do the timewarp againnnnnnnnn
He trained in opra singing. That's how he can control his vocals.
Oh man! They have so many good ones!
There is a lot of room for interpretation of musical styles. Can be quite subjective.
The ADHD interpretation is very interesting and does make sense of the lyrics.
B.Y.O.B. is the next one you should do
5:08 the artistry in that song was great! The way the video ended was spot on too.
This band is its own genre. Plus, you cute today! 😉
I remember System of a Down being big for a couple of years in the 2000s. After that they pretty much dropped off my radar. But then, I'm not a metal guy at all, so I'm not plugged in to that scene. They could have been releasing a lot of stuff that just passed me by without notice.
Toxicity is the System of a Down song with which I am most familiar. I do like the lyrical wordplay of the song, emphasizing the "city" in "toxicity" to denote a toxic city. As I said, Metal isn't my thing, especially the chugging style heard here with drop-tuned guitars. With my punk background, I can appreciate the fast and loud aesthetic, but while metal and punk share some elements, I'm mostly indifferent to metal (with a handful of exceptions). As you would say, "It's just not my jam."
Visually, the video almost comically emphasizes the breakneck speed of the music. The Ibanez Iceman guitar is a visual cue that the music is going to be metal (but not as stereotypical as, say, a BC Rich). Bonus points for the Gibson Thunderbird bass and the blingy mic, though...
By the way, the Jeet Kune Do mentioned when discussing the broken hand that led to a band member leaving is the martial art system developed by Bruce Lee.
I'd be interested in seeing you watch a Black Metal video (especially one of the more extreme Norwegian bands) just to see your reaction. Motown, on the other hand, would make for enjoyable videos for the pure joy of the music as well as for your reaction. Can't forget the Motor City....
Being friends immediately after beating the crud out of each other is a very guy thing to do. Most of us do it several times throughout our lives.
Do ya? 😂 yes that’s a great point about the word play David!
At 7:38 System of the Down actually is emo naming themselves that I did not know that till today. Learned that today with You.
Hello Diane. Jim Wilson here. This band is Armenian-American. The band members are well aware of the genocide inflicted on their ancestors by the Ottoman Turks during World War One. Some of their music is politically charged.
0:14 ALRIGHT!!
This should be interesting, to say the least, Young Lady...Lololol
Too bad we can only give one thumbs-up to the video!
