"von" is german and "van" is dutch. But it means the same "from" or "by" depends from the whole speech.
Love your content been following your for a few years and downloaded a good few games from watching you play them. Frostpunk Europa Universalis Hearts of Iron. Man that was such a good game. I really wish they’d do a remake- even Port Royale just feels really lacking in terms of features, gameplay, and story compared to Sid Meyer’s.
As someone whose never played Port Royale, this looks like Railway Empire but with piracy and ships.
That... sounds kinda awesome, actually.
Sort off but to be honest, the port royale games have been very uneven in quality and gameplay. It's like they haven't really known if they want it to be a pirate game or a management game. Let's hope they've figured out the balance in this one.

@@aazista5687 Correct. Port Royale was originally developed by the same studio as Patrician (Ascaron). The studio went under, but the Creative Director of PR4 is the same guy as for Patrician II.
@The Infidel Nobody hired quill to make this video. A lot of game channels are covering this game just like any other new releases that come out. And though previous installments of the game did have balance issues they were not actually bad games. The fact that you can't be objective in your criticism says a lot more about you than it does about quill18 or Kalypso.
@@HurricaneSA it is literally a sponsored video. It says so in the beginning. They pay him money, he plays the game and makes a video out of it. This is an ad to the game.
Also. Kalipso games are buggy as hell (I am looking at you Tropico 6) and poorly balanced a lot of the time.

Fluyt is topically pronounced /floot/ [flut] in English. The modern Dutch pronunciation is [flœy̯t] or roughly /flowt/ in English phonemic transcription.
They were either minimally armed or completely unarmed in order to maximize cargo space. They also had a very shallow draft, which is VERY useful in the caribbean.

One thing I like about that game, is that the four colonising nations (The same four as in this game) have cities next to each other, especially in the Lesser Antilles.

In this game you can play either Spain, England, the Netherlands or France but the symbol on the left down corner of maps is the Portuguese shield, makes sense I guess

this is the first time im watching a Tutorial Video on a Game, since i never played Port Royal and there is a lot going on. I have to say thanks - you Video is way better then the in game Tutorial.

Ah, Warm-and-Sunny Patrician, ver 4. Kalpyso retake the lead in the 'make it again' race from the peeps who do Civ and Tropico.
Kalpyso makes Tropico also! I just stuck with 5 cause full package. But Port Royal I support every release.
CadusBane i didnt like tropico 6. 4 and 5 where good. Dlcs where overpowering. Seen nothing but bad reviews for PR4
Zach Savage Port Royal 3 was also hammered in the reviews. I just got done downloading Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 for my Switch. Going to kill some time before PR4. I think because it’s just a trading game, it’s not what a lot of people are into. Just making money and owning companies. I love them.
Then again I love Borderlands first four games. And I can’t for the life of me get into Borderlands 3. I’ve tried every character but the Siren, because she’s so OP in the other games.
I will someday open my Tropico 5 complete edition, I am glad stuck with that. Heard 6 wasn’t great.

now imagine a game like this but open world where you control a ship captain as the main hero and you go exploring the world and every island and cave to find treasures and adventure, a game where there the publishers arent lazy and actually put in work like CD project red, a game thats not assassins creed black flag, actually now that i think of it, CD project red's next game should be a pirate themed game with alot of open sea to explore.
Please play more, this game is great!

Imo merchant is probably the best way to go in this game. But if you enjoy fighting the pirate lady would be the best way to go

Oh this is creepy. During the whole setup phase, I was looking at the map, but for some reason my eyes/brain were seeing the map with the grey as the land and the while as the sea. I was like, oh I guess they are taking the game in a whole different direction. Some type of fantasy world, or perhaps random generated maps, instead of the Earth setting of the previous games...So weird.
It's a FLUYT. As in flute. I think it's a Dutch design. If memory serves it was a ship that they had actual design specs for that matched their sister shops. While any other ship made, for England anyway, was designed internally however the ship yard decided. So no internal structure was the same for a ship of the same rating. Also meant the ditch were pumping out vessels regularly each year.
Really like the Port Royal series and this looks like a solid upgrade. Not too keen about some of the UI choices and some generalization (producing 'metal' is way too unspecific). But things like the tradewinds and the zoom functions make for awesome additions.:) Hope this will be a series!
This reminds me of Grand Ages Medieval. The trade routes, everything.
Same company. They are just good with trading games. Really not for everyone, cause I know so many find them dull. I can pop in a audiobook and play for hours. Since Port Royal 3 on PS3 by chance back in 2013, they had one copy, I loved it. Since then I get so many of their trading games Railway Empire, Grand Ages, and Tropico 5.

Ah, yes, I love Port Royale games, the first one of the kind that I remember playing was Tortuga: Pirates of the New World, back then it was developed by Ascaron Entertainment.

I may be mistaken but it looked as though the need for the housing in Andros was the hammer and anvil icon? Maybe Tools? Rather than Metal? o.O

Fluyt = flute for the most part. I've occasionally heard it pronounced "flu-yet".
Take it the wind direction on the map is just cosmetic.. otherwise your auto route should have gone from Nassau to Cat Island first then to Andros.. then you'd have the wind behind you the entire trip. Then you did exactly that.. ;)

the map is not really accurate because willemstad, fort oranje etc so the southeast was where the dutch was at the time of the VOC but the dutch had their finger in a lot of sources and countries^^7 but yeah its a game with more option i guess

Just a little tip:
You mentioned that you might want to set up ceramics production in Andros, because it requires bricks.
The opposite is true, because if you create the bricks here, and ship them to a place where they are required (because of the ceramics production), you supply the demand, and therefore make way more money. Compared to your initial idea, where you produce the basic resource and advanced resource in the same town, which will mean that you won't make any money of the required supply of the basic resource to produce said advanced resource. The only advantage is, that you'll have a more steady supply of the advanced resource, but that doesn't make you more money unfortunately...
I tend to destroy direct links in production as soon as possible, since you won't make any money from them. Only when I'm regularly short on a certain advanced resource, I tend to create a small, direct production line in one town
Based on the info in-game, it looks like the opposite is true. You sell the raw mats to the town and then the factory buys them (both at current market rates). To me, this implies that carrying those raw mats to another town just adds additional overhead to the transaction. Also, you don't get the production bonus from having the factories near the farms/mines. This is not to say that carrying raw mats to other towns isn't useful, but only enough to satisfy the demand from the population.

Well, the cost of running the ship should only be too high if you don't sell enough products. This point is more easily surpassed if you have a production demand in the town where you're selling, and therefor keeping the prices higher.
If you'd be concerned about the ships overhead, it might be more wise to sell the ships from the start

Closest to that is original Port Royal (came out around 2000). It had the trading elements as well as your personal progression and events and an origin story you could take part in.
This game is way different than the original and basically relegated to economy sim, which makes me really sad, because no one even tries to make a story-driven open-world single-player pirate game.

The carrack is only a 15th and 16th century ship which was at least used/made by some of the western europe sea powers (Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, England and France).
And the caravel is also only a 15th and 16th century ship, but it was invented by the portuguese, it was only used/made mostly by them, and there were a lot of different types of caravels.
Also, what the hell is the modern day/current spanish flag doing there??!
I realy realy realy hope somone mods in 2-4 new nations and 555 new things to trade, love this type of games but always want mooooore stuff to trade and build. Let me build all the things and trade more then ALL the things ;)

Not that it really matters, but if you're interested, Fluyt is pronounced Flute. And I think, don't quote me on this part, is pronounced like Flout in Dutch... maybe. I don't 100% remember.
There's no English equivalent to the Dutch 'ui' sound.
I wonder why there's a portuguese flag in the map in the game settings at the begining if they're not even in the game.
