Port royal 2 and 3 you need warehouse's, you do not mention warehouse's in Port Royal 4. What you do is wave the mouse around in circles and back and forwards and go backwards and forwards when you go into the trading menus. We get the trading part. Please stay off the fast forward button, no ships to this day sail faster than a 777. Added avice do NOT set up trade routes until you are producing products. Keep up the good work. I am a Port Royal fan, but not sure if Port Royal 4 is a improvement, but it maybe. Regards.

This one looks very promising, too. I've been playing Port Royale since the very first edition back in ... uuuuh, shortly after WW2.
Back then, the developer was Ascaron and the programmers used to hang around in the forums listening to players opinions and ideas for game improvement. They even worked out INDIVIDUAL patches for people who couldn't run the game due to hardware issues (as said, shortly after the war when plug&play was still Science Fiction). These were the days ...

Have been playing port royale3 and it was the best merchant n military ship game i ever played. I am.excited for port royale 4.
In the start you need lot of money and should manually control tge trade to optimize and use time efficiently. As you have just 1 or 2 ships.
I dont like the item list layout, I mean you need to scroll it everytime you visit a port, 1 page would be so fantastic like the older series of PR
Love this video. I got the game because I looked so cool. Now I'm not a real gamer I enjoy watching it and would love being good at playing it. But now I got this game, watched al the toturials but I didn't get shit done. Didn't understand anything, so very very frustrating. This is the first video that I truly start to understand what to do. And guess what I does sound like fun. I will try again in a couple of days. Just wish I was better at understanding more difficult games by myself. But thank you, for telling it in a basic and understanding way :)
I love this game. I have no clue about the mechanics, but it sure looks like a well developped game with a ton of options.
Kalypso ruined the series. The last good trading game in this family of games was Patrician 3 (or 2 and the expansion, depends on your country lol) by Ascaron, before Kalypso bought them out. Try that game out of you want to play a good one.

your video is good but the problem with this game is no one is telling which towns are good to trade with i sent a convoy out and lost money after only 3 stops
and it wasnt going through any red areas so not all towns are good to trade with and you'll need to start telling us which towns are good to trade and buy from
because without knowing which are good this game is useless you can send convoys out till your blue in the face and if you dont know which towns to trade
from you might as well give up and try a different game
Thank you for the video series, Skye. I tried watching the live-stream up to the point where the producer was talking about future development based on user requests. Then, I became a little discouraged. How do I put this in an analogy? It is like watching a UA-camr who traditionally uploads a vlog on a singular game, e.g. Cities:Skylines, and then tries to expands his audience with another game that he has purchased, i.e. Planet Zoo. The patreons, members, etc. keep crying out for him to return back to Cities:Skylines and he yields to the pressure of the demand. Which is primarily one of the reasons why I am such a supporter to your channel, Skye. I love how you introduce us to the variety of games that you enjoy on the market.
I can understand from a marketing perspective, developers want a guaranteed volume sale, similar to the music industry reality shows, e.g. Idol and The Voice. However, I think it stifles the creative aspect of the developers to take their game to another level, as gamer suggestions will be base on what they are familiar with and their knowledge of other games that they enjoy. An example of this was ANNO series. I adored playing ANNO 2070, then the users complained about the complexity of the production, etc. As a result, the next version was ANNO 2205, which I purchased and quickly lost interest in it. I didn't find the nerdy challenge in its mechanics, it was simplified and I regretted buying it even on special. I haven't even bothered looking at ANNO 1800. I want to buy this game, but, I am unsure about it's future development of its mechanics and DLCs being based on user contribution dynamics; if you get my drift. It's my POV and I will understand how others could disagree with me.
However, I am enjoying this series so much, that I cannot wait for the next episode and having something to enjoy daily to watch. Make it as long as you like. A tycoon/strategy economic trading game, I love the concept.
As he said it's a balancing act .. you need to pick out the good ideas and leave the bad .. but at the same time you don't ONLY develop in line with what the players request .. you need to bring your own fresh ideas as well :)

Okay Skye, I am going to give this series a go and see if i like it. You have got me to buy games in the past, last one i got after watching your series, was Crossroads Inn, however, that game was buggy AF, so i have not completed it, i may have to do that now. Reviews for the game seem poor pretty much across the board. Trading is essentially automated and once set up there is not really much else to do. Just wondering if you are still enjoying the game?
Those reviews are just plain stupid. You can turn off all the automated trading functions when you're setting the game difficulty. There are TONS of things to do. Town Management, Business Management, Trade Route Management, Goods Distribution, Production Chain Management, Town Tasks, Viceroy Tasks, Plundering Convoys & Towns, Treasure Hunts, Random Quests ... do I need to go on? The people who write reviews like that have the attention span of a gibbon and about half the IQ :)

i was playing this merch for so long, port royale 2, 3 and it has good potential but somehow passed so much years to develop something more advanced but still the same game, smh.
There are some significant differences and improvements between 3 and 4 :)

The colonies are F***d up!, I can understand the gameplay balancing stuff... but the Sid Meier's pirates did a good job showing the reality of that time: the caribbean was a Spanish lake.
