    What a neat game! And it seems right up your alley so I bet this will be a fun mini series! And I'm all in who doesn't like a good old pirate adventure (I know you're a merchant but still XD) Also you made me laugh so hard with the POTC quote "whys the rum gone?" the game seems fun and il bet there will be more rum jokes and funny pirate quotes so I'm looking forward to the adventures of captain Morgan!

    So I am still catching up on Bannerlord and Planet Zoo, but I lost track very, very early due to many personal stuff coming together so I don't comment as much anymore D:
    But this game really looks like I would love it. Pirates and management stuff is what I enjoyed a lot back in the day. Like Sid Meier's Pirates! I played that game a loooot. So yes, I am looking forward to see this game unfold. :D

  • @UnHellequined
    @UnHellequined 3 роки тому +5

    How can I say no to Captain Morgan? Usually it's easy if there is literally any other rum available :P
    Beyond that, I think this game is flawed but quite fun looking. Something you may really want to be aware of is you can purchase either existing ships or order a brand new one from your Viceroy's shipyard. I don't think the intention of the game is to be stuck with one small ship until your town grows big enough to build one.
    Having seen some other videos, sadly I think the combat is the biggest let down for me personally with this one. Turn based hex is fine, but the mechanics make the battles feel not even a little bit like they are taking place between sailing vessels other than the graphics.

  • @raerohan4241
    @raerohan4241 3 роки тому +7

    Wow, this looks like a fantastic game! It's just to my tastes.
    Overall, I think you're dping a good job in showcasing the game. I like that you're showcasing mechanics as they come up and not dumping a ton of information on us at once. But there is something you're doing that's driving me utterly insane - please stop travelling with an empty hold! That's so inefficient and also not something any mechant worth their salt would do. If you ultimately want to transport rum from Isabella to Port Royale, for example, you should be picking up goods from Port Royale, heading up north to Santiago and selling some stuff there then buying more stuff, then heading up to Baracoa and buying and selling again, then heading east to Tortuga and buying and selling, then east again to Isabella and do more buying and selling (with a focus on rum), then either around the coast to Santa Dominigo then Port Royale or back to Tortuga, then Port-au-Prince and then to Port Royale, buying and selling the entire way, but reserving some of the rum for your final destination.
    Basically, pretend as if you already have a trade route established and play accordingly.
    Also, it pains me so much to see you trading luxury goods exclusively. Yes, they're good money, but the problem is that they're not usually high in demand so you can't sell too much all at once (compare selling 10 of those statue things in Port Royale and filling demand vs selling 60 fruits in the same place to do the same), and that demand for them replenishes slowly, so if you sell a whole bunch of those in Santiago last week, for example, you're not going to be able to sell more for a long while. It's also not too realistic for the setting - right now the settlements in the area are tiny (though growing) villages in need of food, clothing, building supplies, etc., they're not already-prosperous cities situated along the silk road. So ideally your cargo should be mostly basic goods with a small amount of diverse luxury goods. And rather than pick a specific port to transport luxuries to, you should just have a few on hand always and sell them upon seeing the demand at whichever port you end up in, i.e. let your routes be determined by the flow of necessities rather than luxuries.
    Sorry if it seems like I'm trying to force you to play a certain way - of course you can play in any way that you want. However, considering how you usually play these kinds of games (trying to stay true to the character you've established as well as the setting) I thought this might be a rant you'd appreciate.
    Looking forward to future episodes!

Did you play any previous versions and have in mind anything that is stand out different in gameplay rather than sound and art?

    The real question about this game's historical authenticity is... do you get to manage the system of slavery that provides labor to the sugarcane industry which serves as the foundation of your rum empire?
    Because those systems -- in our own history -- were absolutely brutal and ultimately decided the fate of the carribeans.
