The “creepy husband” made me laugh too! I have a question, Kristi - why is everyone using this particular brand of pen? I'm just wondering if there are other brands that can be used also! Thank you!!!
Katie, we are using this brand of pen because the way they come apart and go back together works well for what we are doing. This brand of pen also writes really well and is refillable. I've seen a couple of people use other pens but I honestly don't know what kind they were or how easy they were to epoxy and glitter.

@@julietessenyi1102 it's not a dumb question at all. There's a cheat sheet that comes with the download that tells you exactly what characters to use. Hi! Just wondering, why do you use Inkjoy pens? Is it because they're easy to disassemble or is there any other reason? Thanks!
Hey there! We primarily use those pens because they are easy to take apart and put on the Turner to spin.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I felt like I couldn’t do these pens, it looked very tedious. You have given me inspiration to try this though. Thank you once again.

Beautiful pens! What file and size did you use for the cheetah prints?
Mount a paper towel holder under your turner some where and hook your transfer tape to it for easy measuring

I loved the video!! I can't wait to make these. What dimensions did you use for the name?
I use 1/2" x 4" for the names 🥰 thanks for watching!
I was wondering how long you have to wait for these to cure before you can use them?? Do they need the same amount of time a cup would to completely cure seeing as how you're using epoxy? I'm just now getting into these pens........always a bit late to the party ...that's me!! .LOL! But these are so easy after watching your videos over and over. Kristi I would really like some info on the Faux Rizzle epoxy
Faux Rizzle is one of my favorite epoxy brands. It is a thicker epoxy that has a little bit of a shorter working time so it dries a bit faster. The other epoxy that I use, Tumblerpoxy, has a longer working time and it takes a bit longer to dry but it is beautiful. They are both awesome epoxies. Faux Rizzle is a great starter epoxy and is VERY forgiving.
@@KristisCustomCreations --- do you not have to wear a respirator with these 2 epoxy's ??

How big did you cut the leopard print?
The link for the turner inserts is sold out, just thought I'd let you know so you can post another one. :)
Thank you! 🥰
For all that work I would need to charge at least $50 per pen.
Hi, just curious. Do you have to spin them?? With so little epoxy on them can’t you just hang to dry like on a tumbler with the glitter epoxy method.
These are beautiful by the way ☺️☺️
Thank you! I think that if you did the hang method they probably wouldn't turn out as smooth. By spinning the pens, it lets the Epoxy spin around the cup as it dries, leaving a glass like surface.
Any suggestions on how to do this if we don’t have the full setup with something that can continuously spin them ?
Do you know where I can purchase decals for pens? I don’t have the ability to make any on my own.
There are lots of people who could make decals for you on Etsy or in Facebook groups. :)

I’m really hoping you can help me. I epoxyed my pens. Spun for six hours. They were still tacky. So I researched and found if you re epoxy them it could help. I added more epoxy. Spun for six hours. They felt better. I went to sand them and they turned gummy and the epoxy started to come off. I’m so frustrated and just a little loss. What do I do?
So you are trying to sand them after 6 hours of spinning? I add another coat of epoxy after spinning for 6 hours but I don't sand until they are actually dry which usually takes around 10 hours or so. They will be gummy and mess up if you sand before they are fully dry. I hope this helps!
I might not have waited long enough after the second epoxy. Do you know if there’s a way to fix it or would it just be scrapped and try again? And thank you so much for answering me!! You are so awesome !!
@@leahwalters7068 You are very welcome! Are you part of our Facebook group yet? facebook.com/groups/epoxytumblersandpens I kind of need to see what the pen looks like now to see if it can be fixed. And always feel free to ask any questions, I always answer them to the best of my ability.
So I don't have a turner arm that would hold the pens. Can I do hang method or use all uv resin instead of regular epoxy?
I'm not sure how to hang method would work because with the pens spinning, and makes the epoxy super smooth. Also, I haven't tried UV resin. I don't think that UV resin is self-leveling, so I'm not sure if it would work. But if you do decide to try it with UV resin, please let me know how it works out.
Hello. I made some pens that are ready but it's not clicking. I put vaseline prior to epoxy probably not far enough. Do you know if it's the epoxy? I have tried to clean it out with acetone and a qtip. I have also tried cleaning the inside with a metal tool. No luck. Can I get some tips please.
It sounds like there may be epoxy way up in there or the pen shaft may have gotten warped by too much heat. When you look down into it, can you see anything in there? Try putting some Vaseline in there to see if it helps things move when you click it.
I really like tour tutorial! You are straight to the point and speed up on all the right parts!! Thank you for posting!!
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! 🥰
Yikes! Reverse the way that you cut that nub off. Push away from your thumb. Good news is that if the blade does slip and slice your thumb, it should heal with minimal scaring because it will be a nice clean cut.
Yes ma'am, since recording this video 5 months ago, I have changed the way I cut.

I’m having trouble getting the chunky lipstick glitter to lay flat and not fall off when I roll it in the wax paper.. any idea what I’m doing wrong?
You may need to use just a bit more epoxy and glitter. Also, let the epoxy harden slightly for about 30 mins before rolling it in the wax paper.. that will help grab the glitter better.
What’s the size for the decals you did? I’m learning.
The names are one half inch by 4 in and the leopard print is approximately 1.5 in by 2 in. You may have to adjust the size of the leopard print slightly though depending on how thick your epoxy / glitter is.
I have a question. I made a chuck for these pens and was woundering if I sent you a free chuck if youd wanna use it in a video? Its 3d printed and works great. I could send you pics if you're interested? Just looking to get my name out a little bit. It also would come with a pen drying rack.

Really enjoyed your video I am a beginner my first project is going to be some pens
Could you make the pens up to wear u sand and wash put them away and as u need them for gifts or to sell then do the last few steps to finish them of that way won’t take so long for finish item for someone
Another question how much do u think each pen would cost finished and how much do u sell them for Thankyou
Hey there!!!! Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, you can prep the pens and set them aside for later (I do it all the time). My cost on the pens are probably around $2 each but that will change depending on the cost of your products. After everyone started buying up the Inkjoy pens for this, the jacked the price up on them. I sell my pens for between $10-$15 depending on what all is done to them. 🥰

I was on my last spin before they are done and they spun for 6 hours and they fillsticky, is there a reason why????
Depending on the kind of epoxy you use, 6 hours may not be long enough. Most epoxies are still tacky after 6 hours unless you use a fast set epoxy.
This was very informative, Thank you. I’m going to try my hand at some pens tomorrow. I have the same work bench for my turners. Can I ask where your silicon mats are from?
I purchased my silicone mats on Amazon, there's actually a link to them in the description box. They came in a pack of 4.. they are seriously the best thing! They help catch glitter and keep things from getting too messy.
Can I ask where you got turners?
What grit sand paper do you use to smooth out at the end?
I use 220 grit sandpaper with a sticky backing. 😊 I have it looked down in the description box under the video. 😉

Thank you for watching! I don't have a video on my turner setup but I am planning to make one soon 😊
So after it’s been glittered 2 coats of epoxy sand then another coat of epoxy ? Can I skip a cost in the Middle?
If your pen is nice and smooth then yes, you can skip a coat but you need to make sure that it's smooth.

I wanted to ask you how long this entire process takes and how much do you charge per pen?
The entire process takes between 5 and 7 days because you have to let the epoxy cure between each layer. I typically charge between $10 and $15 a pen depending on what all is done to it. 😊
You did a great job adding all the details explaining the process and pro tips. Thank you for making the video!
Thank you so much And thank you for watching!!!
Pro Tip : NEVER cut towards yourself. Cut away... avoids injuries.
I am deathly allergic to epoxy, any suggestions to seal the pens/glitter?
Since you are allergic to epoxy, do you also have a reaction to UV resin? If not, that may be an option for you. Also, there is a product out there called Crystalac That is supposed to be non-toxic. It requires multiple thin layers over time to seal the pens / glitter. I've never personally used that product so I can't say how well it works or doesn't work on pens but I know that a lot of people choose to use that on Tumblers instead of epoxy.
I am unsure how to mix expoxy. Can you help me understand this better please.
Absolutely, depending on what kind of epoxy you have, you measure out your epoxy as directed. I like to measure my epoxy and medicine cups. I use popsicle sticks to stir my epoxy. Make sure you stir very thoroughly, scraping the sides of the cup and scraping the popsicle stick into the cup as you stir. Once it's completely mixed, it's ready to go. Be sure to stir kind of slowly so that you don't get a bunch of micro bubbles in it. I hope this helps.

@@KristisCustomCreations yes I loved everything! Yes I will.
I saw a girl use modge podge on the base and rolled the pens into glitter. Would you not recommend doing that?
You can use mod podge too.. I personally prefer the epoxy method because I find it easier and I get better coverage with the glitter that way. Some other people prefer mod podge, it's just personal preference. If I am doing a design (like a glitter pencil design) that requires more detailed lines then I will use mod podge.
that was an awesome video! question: what if you don't have a spinner? what is the point of rotating the pens?
If you don't have a spinner then you can use UV resin and dry it under a UV lamp. Rotating the pens is if you are using epoxy, you rotate them to help the epoxy dry evenly.
Your awesome! Thank u! I am trying my 2nd batch of pens and I have tried tips and tricks that I have watched but my pens dry with lumps and hills from the epoxy. I could use any advice! Change epoxy? Do I sand them flat before I put my 2nd layer on? Anything will help!
Make sure to use thin layers of epoxy and I usually sand after my second coat of epoxy.
@@KristisCustomCreations are you using the faux or counter culture expoy in this video? Ready. I’m asking the faux rizzle is out of stock .
Quick question. could you spray alcohol (91%) instead of heat gun or torch to get the bubbles out?
I have seen where some people spray alcohol on their epoxy molds to get the air bubbles out.
Side note. I'm loving your tutorials. been going through them this morning :) thanks
Thanks for watching!!! So I have tried spraying alcohol on a tumbler before while it was spinning and it just created fisheyes on the tumbler.
@@KristisCustomCreations thanks. Good to know. I'm freshly new to all of this. Thanks ! 😊
Which epoxy did you use??? Are you able to use quick dry epoxy
Tumblerpoxy is my favorite. I use Tumblerpoxy, Swiftpoxy, and the new Tumblerpoxy 2.0... they are all from Tumblerpoxy.com
Swiftpoxy is a fast set epoxy that you can even use on your final layer. So.. to answer your question, yes.. you can use a quick dry Epoxy.
How much Do you sell them for
can we use uv resin instead of epoxy?
Yes, you sure can! I have a few videos in here where I use UV resin on pens and multiple other items. It works great.
Hi there, I just Love every video you put out. What do you charge for these pens
Aww! Thank you so much! I charge $10 for a plain glitter pen and my prices go up from there. Usually between $10 to $15 for a pen. 🥰
Where did you get the leopard svg? and what size did you size and cut it?
It is 1.5" x 2" but you may have to adjust that slightly depending on the thickness of your glitter/epoxy. It is a leopard file that I have had forever. I actually have it available for everyone in my Facebook group under announcements posted by Susie: facebook.com/groups/epoxytumblersandpens
So just curious, in doing these pens, do they have to rotate like that? What exactly is the purpose of it? I’m thinking of doing a few of these as gifts for my coworkers so I’m just curious about it all..
If you do epoxy on them then yes, you need to rotate them because the epoxy has to dry on the pens as they turn. If you don't have a Turner, you can use UV resin and you can cure it under a UV light. I have numerous tutorials showing how to make the pens using UV resin.
@@KristisCustomCreations thank you so much, I’ll look through your videos! Thanks so much for responding! Happy Thanksgiving
I'm fairly new to this but do you put epoxy on after you glitter and spin for the 2 hours ? or wait the 2 hours for the 1st layer to dry and then epoxy ? thanks ! beautiful pens !
Thanks! I wait until the epoxy underneath the glitter is pretty much dry then I put the next coat of Epoxy on 😊
@@KristisCustomCreations thank you! .. i literally have a notebook with notes, tips, and notes on how to get started . and your channel helped out a lot! happy Saturday 😊
@@Amethyst1987 you're very welcome! I'm so glad to hear that you have found it helpful! 🥰 Have a wonderful Saturday!
How long do you let the pens dry in between each layer of epoxy? With the last coat, how long do they spin and dry for?
I usually let mine dry for about 4-6 hours between layers depending on how warm my room is. After the last layer of epoxy, I let it spin for about 8 hours then put it up to dry for at least 10 hours before handling it.
@@KristisCustomCreations thank you! Your video was very helpful.
@@brittleycullaro4146 Thank you so much and thanks for watching!!!
I'm so in love with your tutorials
Aww, thank you! 🥰
I’m ordering the foam cup inserts, wanted them for a long time, thanks to you I see they have a dual purpose. Also, what is your opinion of the transfer tape. I have tried 3 kinds and have not found the perfect one for me. Thank you, great video.
Thanks for watching! The transfer tape is my absolute favorite and I will never use another kind as long as I can buy this kind. As for the foam inserts, yes I agree they are super awesome and I use them all the time. 🥰
Would have been safer to just use a little file to file down the excess plastic
Yes it would have been but I find it is much quicker to cut it with a craft knife. Since filming this video, I now cut away from me rather than towards myself. LOL 😊
hello great video, about how much do you sell the pens for?
Hey there! Glad you enjoyed it. The price for my pens start at $10 each and go up from there depending on what they want on it.
Yup, tried these! Out of 8, 3 got stuck! UGH How can we remove them from the wood?
Oh no! Try heating them up slightly to soften the Epoxy then VERY carefully take a craft knife to try to get it to release
This was the best tutorial I've found for pens!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! 🥰
You're awesome just read some comments and my question was answered.
Aww, thank you! Glad you were able to get your question answered and thank you for reading the comments! LOL
Hat are the list of equipment or supplies you needed
The list of the products I use is listed down in the description box below the video. :)
Do you HAVE to take the clip off for this method to work?
It would be very difficult to leave the clip on with the epoxy.
What size did you do the leopard spots? Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching! I would have to look back at my computer but I believe the leopard spots were 2" x 1.5"
thank you so much for sharing this. quick question, what is the working time for that epoxy that you are using? also do you have a link on where to order or is there a brand that you would recommend for the pens when you have a lot of pens to epoxy at once? tia
It's been almost 2 years since I recorded this video so I don't remember exactly which epoxy I was using, I believe it may have been Faux Rizzle and I don't think they have epoxy for tumblers anymore. There's a couple other brands that I'm using now that I really like. It just depends on what you are looking for for work time on the pens. With pens, I like a longer work time so I can epoxy more all at one time. I recently started using ALE (A Little Extra) epoxy and I really like it. I've got about a 30 to 45 minute work time with that.
@@KristisCustomCreations awesome thanks. How long to dry and full cure time?
Try heating up the blade instead of the pen....
Great idea! Thanks1
Whats the key to getting your pens to be smooth? Mine always end up being bumpy? or I may have one side pretty smooth and the other bumpy
Make sure you aren't using too much epoxy, make sure that your pens are level on the turner while they spin, and make sure that you get good coverage over the glitter with the epoxy. After applying two coats of epoxy over the glitter, I always sand to make the pens super smooth. I hope this helps!!!!
Where is the purchase links for the pens and glitters?
Here's a link to the pens: amzn.to/3Jj9FLU
I sell all different colors of glitter on my website at www.kccglitter.com
Oh my goodness! I'm so glad to have found you :) A friend was telling me about the glitter pens, so, I came to youtube, typed it in search and POOF! there you are with such awesome videos on how to create these beauties AND I am glad you did this second video; first one I could barely hear you and speakers were at 100% :( This one was much easier to hear :) You do a FANTASTIC job in teaching us how to do this!!
Awww! Thank you! I'm glad you found me too! I'm slowly learning how to edit my videos so they will get better and better over time. 😊 Thank you for watching my videos! 🥰
I always have problems with sizing the letters on the pen if you don't mind me asking what size did you use
I use the I love Glitter font from Dafont.com so that it has the swirly hearts on it. For that font I make my lettering 0.5" x 4"
@@KristisCustomCreations thank you
@@moniquehawley2674 you're very welcome!
Can you use acrylic paint instead of spray paint?
Yes Ma'am, you sure can!
These are BEAUTIFUL!! I don’t work with epoxy or resin because it intimidates me and working with it, even with proper PPE, scares me because I already suffer with chronic health issues. These make me feel like I could actually do them though...or maybe it’s just because you make it look so easy 😂 I might have to give it a try just to see. I’ve heard it’s very addicting once you start doing things with it. Thanks for sharing!
They really are addicting! HAHA! I don't know much about Crystalac but its my understanding that it is much safer to handle and be around. May be something for you to look in to. :)
@@KristisCustomCreations that’s exactly the one I’ve read to try. Thank you! Happy to be a new subscriber 🥰
