Are you a pen snob? I actually really love writing with these gel pens! Some people are more of a G-2 type person!! Let me know in the comments!! Grab your pens here: amzn.to/3ip7TN8
This is great! I love the fact that the ads are gone and the time stamps are available. I have a bunch of pens drying on knitting needles and chopsticks at the moment, wish me luck!!
I have a question about your very first comment in the video, stating to "test the pens as they may not last long due to the rubber coating", before I spend a lot of money on the supplies, what exactly do you mean, will they last and if so, how long? Thanks!! 😀
I was so excited for this tutorial! This pens are all over my Facebook from the numerous groups I'm in and I definitely want to try my hand at them. Definitely going to me taking the plunge soon into Crystalac ❤❤❤
My spray paint always adheres to the rubber part with no issues. I love the way your pens look. Super cute! That pink you used first is gorgeous. Do you mind sharing where it’s from? Edit: I read your description and see where it’s from. What’s the name? 💜
The problem is that paint (spray or otherwise) is definitely not made to adhere to rubber so there may be some consequences there. People should just know that before they start selling that they're essentially gambling with the longevity! The pink is Rose Gold from Sass & Crafts!
This is so awesome and helpful!!! Do you sell these? How do the hold up? I love this bc I don’t have to messed with epoxy or anything like that. Edit: can I use mod podge instead of brite glue or can I do both? But use mod podge as a final base covering?
I didn’t recall and couldn’t catch if or when you said how long you let the pink spray painted pens dry Before you started applying glitter to them. How long should they dry after they’re spray painted?
So do you put the brite tone on then wait four hours then do another coat? So a total of 12 hours for just the first 4 coats? Then sand then start again with coats of brite tone?
I dont recommend mod podge under crystalac products. I used their glitter glue: thecrystalacstore.com/products/crystalac-glitter-glue?_pos=1&_sid=394ae612c&_ss=r&&sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN
For the Brite Tone, it's safe to apply with my fingers? Just wash them after? Wasn't sure if I needed to wear gloves or apply with a paint brush. I've seen both ways, with bare hand and with tool. Just wanted to make sure it was safe to touch skin. Thanks! Great video!
@@AlisonCrafts thank you! One more question, how do you get the heart at the end of the font? I purchased the font & I use Cricut design space on my iPhone.
I’m just curious, and I apologize if this has already been asked...but what is the purpose of painting the pen 1st if ultimately the only thing visible is the glitter? Like I just don’t understand that step when the paint isn’t visable.
Okay there are a few things. 1) You get better coverage if your base coat matches your glitter. 2) Nothing is designed to stick to rubber - so these are already sort of a risk to make. I wanted to set myself up for the best outcome possible so I used a primer with stronger bonding agents in hopes they last longer :)
With a basic fine glitter that is sealed and flattened with glitter glue i am usually smooth at about 6 - 8. Then add decal and a few more coats! It really depends on the style, skill level, and type of glitter.
Hey! I've got some BT and the pens in. What other option would I have for sealing the glitter if I don't have glitter glue? I'm switching from epoxy and haven't used BT yet. Ty for the tutorial!
I'm guessing the samw way you would normally seal your glitter. Mod podge or a spray sealer. I know with the spray you'll have to wait 24 hours for it to gas off.
You can use E6000 Pump spray! Or you can just skip the sealing and go to BT. but I think using the E6000 helps cut down on the number of layers you need total. If you use clear spray paint or whatever clear spray sealer you have to let it dry 48 hours. but you can use that too!
I used Universal white mixed with the crystaLac pigments for the base and i used spray paint. Here is a link to the pigments: thecrystalacstore.com/collections/craftnique-products-all/products/craftnique-color-boutique-concentrated-pigment-kits-8-colors?sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN

I'm a pen snob also. I love G-2 in 07 black.

These are my favorite - way better than G2!
PS, and I’m a pen snob too!

Thank You
You're a life saver, I had forgot how to re assemble them! Thank you so much!
Love it but holy smokes... what a process.
Agreed!!
Can you just use brute tone to put the glitter on or do you recommend getting the glitter glue?

what font and size do you use?
Instead of using brite tone, can you use expoxy resin to give the pen that extra shine?
I love these, what type of printer do you have to make your names?
Saludos q utilizas para q quede brillante como si fuera resina?😢
I just came across this video. I'm wanting to try my hand at making these pens. What's your best advice for a beginner?
After adding decal and then brite tone .... how do you know your done? Will you not really feel the decal anymore?
Can I use acrylic paint instead of universal white? I don't have the budget for that right now.
I have a question unrelated to this video but not really if u do glitter rolling trays can u do this on possess on them there the metal ones 🤔
So pretty, love them 💖💖💖💖
Thank you

What other pen brands are good since the rubber may be iffy? I like to write with Pentel RSVP and zebra pens.
I think I prefer the brite tone pens bc the epoxy ones tend to be so thick
I agree! Much slimmer with brite tone!
What's brand and where I can get the base color paint?
Thank you!! ☺️

I do sell them and use them myself! they hold up great. I honestly wouldn't use mod podge - just not a great adhesive
Hi! Can you start with the flipn awesome paints instead of the uw as a base? Thanks! Love your simple, but super helpful videos. 👌
yep!
Just seeing this video! Love love 😍 it! So happy to see we can do this with out a turner!
How did they last??
Holding up perfectly!
Hi Alison, could you use the 400 grit paper all throughout, why the 200 in beginning? Thank you for this awesome video!
400 isn't really enough to prep and since these are rubber, you really want to get them good and sanded!
I didn’t recall and couldn’t catch if or when you said how long you let the pink spray painted pens dry Before you started applying glitter to them. How long should they dry after they’re spray painted?
48 hours after spray paint before any crystalac products!
Can i use poster paint rather than spray paint?
can this method work for bling diamond pens too?
I love this! Keep it up
These look awesome! But am I understanding correctly that start to finish is 20+ hours with all the drying time?
It takes me about a week to make a pen. Hands on time about 10 minutes total
So do you put the brite tone on then wait four hours then do another coat? So a total of 12 hours for just the first 4 coats? Then sand then start again with coats of brite tone?
each coat of brite tone needs to dry 4 hours before reapplying another coat
How long does it take for the pen to fully cure after the final layer?
You can use it after it dries a few days
is acrylic paint okay?
Hi what paint did you use? I like this better than using the spray?
Hi,,, beautiful pens 😍 I have the same question. What type of paint you use ?
Can you use modpodge to seal? Which glitter glue did you use?
Ready to try this
I dont recommend mod podge under crystalac products. I used their glitter glue: thecrystalacstore.com/products/crystalac-glitter-glue?_pos=1&_sid=394ae612c&_ss=r&&sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN

I have a Cricut, would the size of the vinyl be the same as it would be on the silhouette??
yes as long as the pen is the same size
Whats the shortcut for the heart at the end of the font.....and what length do you make your names for these?
What program are you using? I make the name 0.5 inches tall
Is it necessary to remove the clip? or can we leave the clip on and glitter it as well?
You run the risk of it getting stuck

The glitter can allow the base to show through some.
Can you use anything else besides britetone? Like maybe uv resin or something
I don't use UV resin because it's toxic and gets super yellow but you could if you want
how many times on average do you think a person has to apply the BT coats and sand to get a smooth finish
