Occasionally. I think he would sort of do the first half and decide if he was up to doing the second half. Most times he would cut it in the middle to take a breath, but there were a few instances where he went for the whole thing.
@@PenneySounds just cause it's really innesesary to do that insane shit every single show, to do it in the studio or in a one shot live is easy but doing it in a show is almost impossible
My favorite was Chester demonstrating the "popper stopper" in one of their behind the scenes clips while in the studio. He was making a joke about how the popper stopper only allowed "rock" to get through and blocked "pop". He'd move the popper stopper on and off and at the same time went into the scream vs singing clean while holding the same note. Look up linkin park popper stopper and you'll find it. It's amazing how he could turn that scream on and off like a light switch. Brilliant vocalist!
Just looked it up Chester's popper stopper clip again, it's the video called Minutes To Midnight - The Making Of LPTV 14. The first result that shows up was terrible quality and for some reason they edited out the best part where Chester switches back and forth multiple times.

Linkin Park is the best selling band of the 21st century! They formed in 1996 and are still somewhat active! Worked with Jay-Z, Pusha T, Metallica, etc. Chester Bennington (lead singer) committed suicide back in July 2017. Linkin Park is a fusion of Heavy Metal, Alternative rock, hip hop/rap, indie pop, and electronic pop!!! Also Mike Shinoda is their rapper/backup vocalist!!! RIP Chester 💔

not true , people have done 40 secound screams , however tehbically those were pure fry screams wich are easier to keep going since they don't deplete your air so fast, but chester was doing tonal false folds distortion with fry overtones wich is EXTREMLY impressive to hold for 17 secounds
@@slickboyd sometimes he had to do 2 separate screams but that's to be expected in a live setting when you're tired. 100% of the vocalists that do the whole set live without backing tracks to hide behind will not be 100% studio like

Definitely not.... Chester was and always will be the life and soul of rock music. When the Catylyst released that was the end of the Chester I knew yet I still followed and One More Light will always be the song that makes me cry me heart out. RIP Chester... he meant more to me than music

Just start with their first album and spend the next year or two listening to them. Chester was a great vocalist, but he fought depression the whole time. People around him, even us fans, didn’t realize how much his lyrics were requests for help. So… it’s somewhat sad to listen to the hits they made, knowing that Chester wasn’t going to stick around.
This song is one of those hits that is as sad as it is awesome.

If i may suggest some songs here: the classics of course are in the end, numb, what ive done, burn it down maybe final masquerade and one more light. If you want to hear what the whole band was able of doing i would recommend waiting for the end, a line in the sand and the catalyst. And some more special stuff for numetal fans are one step closer, which changed the whole metal industry as well as crawling and faint and if you want to hear chester switching between his „two modes“ i recommend from the inside and lying from you, here you have harsh metal vocals and soft singing with perfect transitions between those two very different voices

Sadly Chester was not playing a character when he sang those lyrics , it was HIM , it was his cry for help, he suffered from depression and substance abuse most of his life and that reflected in almost all of Linkin park's songs and that finally took his life in 2017

Wow. I know a number of Linkin Park songs/albums, but not this. The verses sound very punk to me, with a driving bass line and uptempo beat. Then the chorus is Chester’s high belting/screaming, maybe somehow both at once. That 17 sec. sustained scream is unbelievable. Glad I heard this. Just to add: Chester was very good friends with late singer Chris Cornell, who I have to recommend. A nearly four octave range and considered one of the most powerful rock vocalists of all time.
