you misunderstood... most of it is pain, not passion, I personally love the song too and Chester but I would never ask him to sing it cuz in order to do it properly he need to go back to the place that made him write it... those legendary 17 seconds of his scream are legendary, cuz thats the sonic representation of pain, not becouse its the greatest metal scream ever, that goes to TOOLs Grudge... Homie needs to chill. It hits different because he was screaming for help for so long and this song, after his suicide, really shows that he really was close to the end.
James Hetfield wrote Fade to Black where he talks about killing himself throughout the entire song. That song came out in '84 and James is still with us. Chester really meant that shit. There are tons of people who listen to the song, and just think "hurr hurr man make funni long scream" and they pay zero attention to the lyrics.
This person just said, after Chester killed himself, in a way, makes hearing this song sound like listening to his suicide note. And a suicide note before the suicide always hits different than before.

Chester putting all of himself in these songs is really what makes Linkin Park songs so special. His vocals were insane and he is still an inspiration for lots of other vocalists. He will always be a part of us, rip legend, hope you're doing well and teaching angels how to sing up there.

I listened to this song just about every day when I was in Iraq in 2009. It sort of gave me the strength to get through another day when I was absolutely miserable and felt there was no other way out. Very relatable and raw, unlike a lot of other songs that try to convey pain, but do it in a pseudo-abstract and less relatable way. Definitely a fantastic song for people who are in a shitty spot and feel like nobody is listening or understands except Chester. He will be remembered for this and the rest of his art.

Chester had lyrics of things most in the world only wish they had balls to say. He put so so much in his music and and performances it was unreal! SUCH great huge loss to the world! He had several songs that could be considered dark. But so many can relate to it, its in us all!

As a therapist and metal fan I actually bring Chester right into session with my clients who can't find the words if they are willing to give it a go. Simply hit play and encourage them to put a thumb up each time it resonates. It's powerful, emotional, and so wonderful to see people actually connect with the messages they relate to.

He could sing like and angel ( really he's got really beautiful melodic voice) and scream like a demon.

There was a time in my life when alcohol and drugs was my way to deal with PTSD (Veteran). Chester and the rest of Linkin Park helped me battle my demons and get sober. So many times I played this track....asking my self the same question. What the F... is wrong with me......Chester your pain helped me with my pain. You and the rest of the band saved my life. Today I'm still heartbroken by the fact, that I never had the chance to thank him. And be there for him when he fought his demons.
