If I remember correctly, he hadn't had a vocal coach in his early career. I assume that was pure talent. It's crazy to think about it. He could scream and in a moment he could sing beautifully. He was the best in his generation.
SO MUCH TALENT!!!
Chester sang like angel and scream like demon
That’s true he said that in an interview he did everything that could damage his voice by drinking and smoking. But still managed to hold his breath
He did both at the same time...:)
I know when he was younger in school he did theater as a kid and has said that if he didn't end up going the band route that he would have kept going for theater and would love to do a Broadway and acting in more movies but mostly Broadway. One of his dreams was that in his future that he'd be asked to do something for a Broadway show.
He was an incredible musician. It’s hard to listen to his music without becoming emotional. His struggle with depression and his death hit close to home.
I agree fully
Same here. I tear up every time I hear his voice. No other musician has that effect on me.
I still get goosebumps 20 years later. Some of his notes do weird things to my soul, man. Instant chills and goosebumps.
Same I grew up listening to LP I stopped listening to music for years after his death
Your enthusiasm for Chester is atractive...🤌
That performance was after an hour of really tough singing and belting. Outstanding performance.
7:53 It was Song 20 of 25 on the setlist 🤯🤯.
He only just came off from a mini encore break after singing songs like Crawling, Faint, One Step closer right before that.
What a Legend being able to switch to this and on a high level.
I remember watching the livestream of this whole concert while it was happening in my bed with earpluggs in and this gave me so much goosebumps and came out of nowhere as they only did it once more in the LPU summit of that location in London with a dozen of fans whilst Chester was reading all the lyrics from the ground (Notice how he looks down in the third verse, its because hes reading the lyrics sheet as its THAT spontanious)
And im still BLOWN away 12 years later! I miss him so much
Chester said that he learned to sing by singing along with his favourite songs as a kid. Back then, he didn't know effects such as distortion and chorus existed and thought all the singers actually sounded like this raw, so he tried to mimick the way the recordings sound. That's why he could switch techniques so easily and maintain his power, he taught himself to naturally do effects.
Can't belive you haven't listened to Chester live before, you're really missing out... I still believe he was one of the best singers of our generation just because of his versatility. I would suggest checking out his performance of given up at Milton Keynes
im lucky that Linkin Park came to perform in my country and i went to the concert back in 2009, because a lot of big artists never come here, but the arena was full, over 15000 tickets sold, it was second best one i had ever been to after metallica.
Papercut live in texas, breaking the habit live rock am ring, japan, red square, also in the end live in red square, crawling live in milan, somewhere i belong rock am ring etc etc. So much great live performances!!!
Chester was just different man... RIP legend 💔
So sad we lost a power voice like.this in music....such an amazing talent 🥹
Your excitement for & throughout this Chester performance made me happy
Please do more linkin park live reactions 🙏🏽
Yes yes yes, please
Chester was sing like an angel, scream like a demon. He’s really a legend. Rest In Harmonic Chester.
I'm a big *Chester Bennington* fan (Not a Stan) but he's from Arizona where I am. I know he did some singing while in school but I don't know if he had any professional training. Either way he had a great voice that he knew how to use that is dearly missed when you realize it's been 5 years already
I'ma huge fan too
I grew up with his music and I loved it 🔥🔥❤️❤️
He never had professional training. He said he tried to reproduce vocals off of albums that were probably very edited and layered, and so he developed his insane screams and just awesome technique. He got vocal coaching later in his career.
@@eliteiel9747 okay cool like I said I know you did some school singing but that's not really professional or training
Thanks so much for sharing this! One of my favorite songs performed by one of my favorite vocalists being analysed so enthusiastically is just wonderful. When I came across this performance first I had it on repeat for I don't know how long. It still gives me the chills listening to it every time. 0:17
A live performance you should really check out is the ballad version of Pushing me away. Theres so much power and emotion that he pours into it. Its absolutely incredible!
sorry for replying to such an old comment but i was thinking this too 👀👀
Chester was one of a kind. ❤
Before this cover he played normal Linkin park concert. And beeing able after that to sing this song... damn
he's such an amazing singer honestly when he passed it brought a tear to my eyes cause their songs connected so well lyrically and emotionally
For me Chester is the best vocalist of The entier world. RIP Legend 😔
This man is a legend. He sang like an Angel and screamed like a Demon.. He was truly amazing... RIP King
Chester's voice and vocal control are so legendary. He can pour so much emotion into a single lyric. That falsetto 7:11 gave me goosebumps. Chester was sooo unique, voice & soul
Chester sang every song as if it was his last. No-one gave more of their heart and soul into every performance. He could be an angel or a devil. He is sorely missed.
He is my favorite from the Queen of the Damned album as well. ❤
Fantastic reaction!!! Chester was truly a rare talent and is missed greatly ❤
Love this! Check out Qwerty by Linkin Park live at SummerSonic for some great harsh vocals from Chester
Thank you for doing this! Chester is my favourite singer!
Please react to him singing "One More Light" live on Jimmy Kimmel.
Chester is the man I aspire to be in terms of ability. He's an absolute legend. No one can match his variety. People who only listen to his LP songs are missing out on a lot
He's the GOAT for a reason
Chester's vocal prowes is and will always be unmatched. I can only imagine the amount of life-springing music you would have brought into this world if you were here with us over the last six years. Love you CHESTER!
Fantastic analysis. Great breakdown. Thanks!
Chester is a legend he will be missed but never forgotten
Chester's "Rolling in the deep" cover (from iTunes Festival 2011) is absolutely mindblowing!
Linkin Park was a great band. I first saw this a couple years ago and its been one of my favorites ever since. Can you do a video breaking down how to sing this like you do with other songs?
Thats a great idea!
My favourite song from Liking Park is Forgotten
I think you should perhaps check out more metal vocalists, as you mentioned you've been surprises by both Chester and David Draiman. There's a greeeat deal of talent needed to succeed as a vocalist in metal world, and a great deal of knowledge needed to last for years and years in it, and I honestly believe that people who aren't into metal just aren't aware of that.
A generational artist and one of the greatest vocalist we have ever had🫶🏻
I cry everytime I heard Chester
my god what a loss for the world. have a good rest in peace chester
We just miss him
Saw them play live co-headlining with Incubus once back in 2007. They sound just as good live as they do in the studio which is insanely rare.
You really need to watch CRAWLING LIVE PIANO VERSION!!!!! It'll make you cry! One of his last shows!!!! It's something I think everyone should see in there lifetime!
Loved that, thank you, made me appreciate CB even more.
I liked so much this video that I come back once in a while here to see it again ❤
Absolutely LOVE watching first time reactions to this tune. I still get a little choked up watching the delight unfold from the reactors. Thank you for sharing!
The Great Chester Bennington.👑💙
Sings like an Angel 😇 , Screams like a Demon 😈
Mooore chester and you ❤️🤗 please… wonderful reaction to an unique singer
Smart analysis, pointing out what needs to, I often feel frustrated with other reactionnal videos as they miss so many details which make the performance amazing but you do hear them and FEEL them, it makes all the difference ^^ someone who loves her job 🤘
I adore that live performance... Chester made the song his own... That's what I love most about his voice... that it can be sweet, soft and harmonious... and at the same time strong, powerful and raspy, for example in songs like Given Up, Crawling or Blackout, just to mention a few.. I love you Chazzy thank you for giving us so much talent over so many years, you are really missed so much 💚
Chester Bennington; Sing like an angel, scream like a demon!
One of the greatest singer vocalist that ever lived...
Chester um cantor completo, saudades 😢
1:29 OMG, You sing so well, I kept replaying the video several times here.
I was a fan I couldn't listen to their songs anymore after his death I accidentally crossed this video and I'm crying i loved his voice sm
Chester was a perfect singer
I'm so happy you watched this one! It's one of my favorite covers and one of the many things that made Chester my favorite vocalist 😄
Edit: If you want to hear how his vocals started out you could check out Grey Daze, the band he was in before Linkin Park. I'm not at all trained with singing but his voice already sounded pretty insane to me even when he was a teenager.
I just LOVE IT!! I will check out Grey Daze thank you!!!!!
Not just because I'm a Chester fan but this video is 10 times better than your Disturbed soul silence which is a great cover that I enjoy better than the original which is also great but because it was a first time here & a vocal breakdown
For anyone looking for him to belt it out like he did hear on another track, look up:
“Slow Ya Roll” young buck ft. Chester Bennington
Please react to Taka from the band One Ok Rock singing Hello by Adele. It is an amazing cover and I know you would enjoy it.
I don’t know if it’s just because of how effected I was by his music as a kid or what but as a 31 year old man I can help but be brought to tears when I hear Chester’s voice. Just me? lol
Still happens to me. Driving, I'm like wtf why is this making me cry.. so amazing. Goosebumps and chills, still, till this day.
This clip is one of my favourites, and encapsulates why I love Linkin Park so much. There is sooo much talent on that stage; finely contained technique meeting pure, raw emotion, creating a beautiful cover of a wonderful song. The mind-blowing bit, though?
Half the band are backstage, taking ten minutes to chill!
With all of them together, they were amazing. Not much more I can say that hasn't been said already 😊
i love your squirrel!
and great reaction btw!
Wait until you see John Farnham. Recommend his cover or the Beatles song ‘Help’, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
There was an old live dvd they put out in the mid 2000s where they played with Metallica iirc. That dvd is one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen I highly recommend it.
I believe it was called “live in Texas”
Look him live song "Breaking habbit "
Great reaction ,more react Chester please.React to Linkin Park - Qwerty live 2006
You should react to Linkin Park's Given Up live... a lot happens with his vocals... it's just mind blowing!!!
He was a very good singer. LP had many B side and lesser known songs that depicted his voice. Rarely did I hear Chester sing other peoples music though.
I love this cover better then Adele's version, and she's fantastic! But Chester is the best voice of our generation. Period. Great analysis!
Oh my, I miss him so much! 💔💔
Watch the acoustic version of Final Masquerade it's amazing
For me Qwerty is the most impresive song with that Scream to light changes
you should see one more light live (chris cornell tribute)
Check out the live performance of Faint, at Rock am ring, he was out of this world! Totally blew my mind! The power in his voice is incredible! Hope you read this.
You singing with ur technique, skill. Chester singing with his soul, his emotions, his mind, his painfull 😢
Chester did a cover of Billy Idol's White Wedding when he would tour with Kings of Chaos. He sounded just like Billy Idol in the performance. It is one of those things where if you are not paying attention you would think it was Billy Idol singing and not Chester. Chester had the ability to mimic anybody he wanted to.
You should really give "My December" a listen by Linkin Park. It's such a departure from their usual fair and it's absolutely amazing.
Your amazing women please react to Linkin Park - Breaking The Habit (Live Earth Japan 2007)
Sing like an angel and scream like a demon. Legen. RIP Chester.
Anybody who says Chester isn't at the same tier as Freddie is just wrong. They're both GOATs
The distortion that chester's voice can go through is the zenith of his artistry. No one else, in my honest opinion, will ever come close to Chester's style.
Early on and then very late in his career he was patchy live. Sometimes out of this world, others just awful. Substance abuse, vocal damage and over touring (300 shows for example in 2001 alone which was the peak) took their toll at times but at other times he was absolutely perfect. Check out live at red square 2012. Insane!
React to Breaking the Habit live
Linkin Park has some softer songs as well. They aren't as well known, but they're there, and they're wonderful to listen to.
pls pls react to KZ TANDINGAN-Rolling in the deep cover. (Singer2018) The voice, presence, the musical arrangement are unique
Please do a vocal reaction to Matt Bellamy of Muse!
He have so amazing voice ! Please check live Given Up or Qwerty ❤❤❤❤❤
No he didn't have any formal vocal training, as far as I'm aware. His previous band from when he was in high school, Grey Daze, was an early post-grunge band who were looking for a vocalist with that particular yarling style of singing...and he fit the bill just perfectly at the time. So he actually had to do a lot of work to strip away some of his habits he picked up from vocalists he idolized growing up (Eddie Vedder, Scott Weiland, Dave Gahan, to name a few) in order to find his true iconic voice.
On the other hand though, you _should_ check out the Grey Daze stuff. "What's In The Eye" is a good one to start with. It's not as technically perfect, but it's the rawest I think he ever sounded, and the fact that he came in sounding _that good_ at 15-20 years old is mindboggling!
hi beauty can you please react to Cem Adrian-Summertime 2018 live performance ? you deserved to hear this.
FYI: Chester didn't have vocal training. Also, this song was performed near the end of their set.
Please react Linkin park Given up live at parkson, you can hear chester scream
Linkin park is a story. Chester and Mike killed it every single time, needless to mention the other guys in the band. We lost a legend.
He’s the professional!!!! Who are you?????
🌹🧡🧡👼🏻😘
Could have rolled this song in to In The End with the piano
Quick question - I’ve been partially deaf since early childhood, which has slowly gotten to the point I wear a hearing aid now. I’ve always sung and had perfect pitch before my hearing aid - I’m just a little unsure now at times.
What I’m wondering is, is it possible to sing without some nuances in hearing?
I’ve just got bone density foldback and I believe I sound good 🤷🏼♀️ I have good technique and rehearse with little songs all day every day. I just don’t want to lose my joy, but am afraid I don’t sound as good as I think I do 🤷🏼♀️
I love Rolling in the Deep, which is why I had this question.
That’s amazing. I’m sure you sound wonderful. Keep singing. Never stop…
@@G..G.. Thank you ♥️
I think its important that you begin to consider how sound feels - begin to ask yourself how a great note feels in your body.. where does it vibrate etc.. because the feel of the sound can do WONDERS for helping you with nuance as your hearing shifts and changes. Record yourself singing and send it in for a student review with Singeo if you ever want feedback ! We've got free 7 day trial here: www.singeo.com/trial
This has to be one of Chester's best vocal performances just not in a screamy way
try listening to Given Up by linkin park
He did better than Adele and I can count on one hand the covers I feel that way about and this is not studio. This is live. Rest in Peace, man.
Rip Chester- the voice of an angel and scream of a demon. Definitely check out some linkin park- this doesn’t even cover how spectacular his voice was.
He sand it after one hour of screaming
