I read on Twitter on to compare how improbable Baystars run this whole postseason run was.. Imagine 2024 Detroit Tigers beating 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers in 6 Games after down 2 games.
Such a great story. I saw the BayStars beat Yomiuri in Yokohama last year. The atmosphere was incredible. I became a BayStars fan that night. This is an incredible result! Great job. Go BayStars!
LOLHAWKS. Epic choke than the Yankees as Japanese fans watched double chokejobs in baseball world in one week (yes, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto won the WS so double happiness)
Great review, this was a great series for a first-timer getting in to NPB. Looking forward to next season, and congrats to the Baystars on the great series win!
Craziest playoff run I've ever seen. Not even in my dreams would I have figured this year's DeNA team would've made it all the way to the Nippon Series, let alone win! Still doesn't feel real. Great video as always YC :)
This longtime fan of baseball EVERYWHERE says: "Thanks so much for a well done video." I've been wanting to attend a Japanese baseball game since the early 80's.
I can't help but cheer for DeNA on this one. Everyone loves a good underdog story. All throughout most of the regular season, the BayStars were at the bottom half of the CL - then last month before the Climax series the stars aligned for them. I can always appreciate them beating the Giants even if it meant beating my Tigers. Only to proceed and beat, arguably, the best team of the PL over all. Well-deserved. 🎉🎉
It's almost impossible to give enough credit to team owner Tomoko Namba, who brought a fan-first, Yokohama-centred philosophy to the Baystars from the moment DeNA took control. Now the ground is full every home game, even when the Baystars are doing badly, and the massive vocal support from the Baystars fans at the Fukuoka games, 500 miles from home, was all credit to what she has done for the team.
I actually saw the Baystars smash the Hiroshima Carps in Hiroshima this year. I personally thought that the Hiroshima Carps had a bad team, but I was wrong, it was the opposite. Because they had a good chance at being in the post season. It's just that the Baystars were phenomenal.
I don't know those managers' thought process of using a regular season starter over high leverage relievers to relieve a tight championship game. The type of decision seems to be always disastrous regardless of whether it is in MLB or NPB.
At least the thought pattern in the MLB is pretty clear. The starters available to pitch won't come out until the team has completely exhausted the entire bullpen. Dave Roberts didn't throw Walker Buehler at the bottom of the 3rd inning to try and save game 5 of the World Series from being a total disaster after Giancarlo Stanton homered to make it 5-0. Instead, Buehler came out and converted the save opportunity at the bottom of the 9th with all the high-leverage relievers and inning eaters used up.
I sincerely feel that Masayoshi Son can’t take this humiliation, so he decides to follow Real Madrid’s Galácticos approach in this offseason… That’s means every FA player this season will join Hawks with a lucrative deal…
Yep, since the teams is basically funded by the corporations. To put into perspective, MLB team is a franchise while NPB team is funded by a franchise.
As a Baystars and Miura (since he was still a player) fan, I am glad that we eventually won. If we were in the end ONE WIN AWAY from NS Champion, the decision of putting Horioka on mound in G1 9th will be badly criticized forever.
I would never have imagined the Baystars winning this year after losing Bauer and Shota Imanaga. What a great run

This series would be worthy of a UA-cam sports meme video
Conglaturations Hawks!

One Nippon series as the Taiyo Whales, one Nippon Series as the Yokohama Baystars, one Nippon Series as the Yokohama DeNA Baystars.
Time for UrinatingTree to congratulate Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks
Kuwahara went off in this series, what an awesome performance. Great to see Tsutsugo come up big too!
This longtime fan of baseball EVERYWHERE says: "Thanks so much for a well done video." I've been wanting to attend a Japanese baseball game since the early 80's.
Hanshin, Yomiuri and Fukuoka, a murderer's row to the title! And this was a .500 team that did it.
This solidifies the BayStars as the meme team of NPB. Too ironic is that their first title happened to be 70 win-season back in 1960.

Great video series. I'm so proud of the boys, been following the team since 2018 and I still can't believe we're champions again!
The central league underdogs winning against both central and pacific league champions was one of most satisfying W this baseball season
Better than the actual WS in the west
Hanshin Tigers was last season's defending champions
Great run by the BayStars - kudos and congratulations ⚾
I've been a Yokohama fan for decades and felt like I was dreaming.
Baystars used to be such an underdog..
1:02 someone should send this clip to garrit cole so he knows how its done

I also read that she's the former DeNA CEO too. I guess Nanba-san took a different approach as the owner of BayStars.
1960 Whales = 2024 Baystars Never disrespect the underdog.

How do u get footage of these games
he's Japanese

That’s means every FA player this season will join Hawks with a lucrative deal…
Does he still have enough money, given his investment losses? :)
In japan they name their teams after corporations instead of their region?
Yep, since the teams is basically funded by the corporations. To put into perspective, MLB team is a franchise while NPB team is funded by a franchise.
.507 lol
Trevor Bauer must’ve gave them some good luck

Thank you so much for your continued NPB coverage! This has also been a good year for former Dodgers Jackson and Tsutsugo.
Congrats to them!
