- My name is Thane Bishop, and I need to talk about Hades.
In this video I tell you three of the main stories of Hades, and talk about why the game's style of growth is absolutely perfect for it.

I really enjoy your - admittedly very limited number of - video essays. Many channels early attempts, especially in the writing, turn out less than stellar. It's easy to tell that you have talent and enjoy it. I'm thrilled for what's to come. Cheers.
Thank you so much! I feel like it's been an okay start, and I'm looking forward to filling out the portfolio more and more.
Your take on Night City was genuinely enlightening to me and encapsulated a feeling I hadn't been able to describe
this video does the same. The growth cycles in the game kinda make you feel like you *can* achieve anything you want to, don't they?
Excellent work, again. Glad to see you're keeping at this - and nice to see that you fixed the audio mixing. Love your voice, love your perspective, love your humour. Can't wait to see what you do next
That all really means a lot to me! I'm glad the audio is better, I have a few more ideas to try on that end to bring the quality up a little more that I'm going to experiment with before the next video. Thank you so much!
I came from your cyberpunk video absolutely enthralled, your writing skills speak to me as a poet and I feel connected to the stories you tell. What a coincidence that my two favourite games at the moment are the ones you made videos on. Please don't let the algorithm best you, this video was bigger and better than the last, and I can't wait for the next one.
Hey, thank you so much! Honestly, I think at this stage just getting more videos out is going to be the best thing, so that's the goal for right now
I only now found your channel... and i feel it is kind of a channel i binge over next few days. Few things.
1. It is absolutely beautiful how you conveyed the things Hades does. When i first played it, i called it "Repairing by destorying". Sure, you are wrecking your fathers domain, hurting yourself along the way and eventually dying... but it is pivotal to you repairing the relationships you had.
2. I never really considered how the game was actually taunting me with the logs of my previous runs. I used it in entirely different way of "Damn, this always works. Gotta fish for it". Kinda cute how we came to different approaches.
3. Artemis is, indeed, best girl.
I've been working for 11 hours straight and the only thing pushing me through is getting to watch your video at the end
I believe in you! I hope you'll enjoy it when you finally get to relax.
@@ThaneBishop the video was really good I have 100+ hours in both hades and cyberpunk and you've put into words feelings and thoughts about those games that I've had but hadn't been able to describe I'm really excited to see what you do next
@@ThaneBishop Hey this might seem weird, just ignore me if you're not interested, but I think I will regret it if I don’t do this because I genuinely want to and think I can help you. If you’ve ever wanted or ever want a personal video editor so you can focus on writing and recording just say and then we can get into further contact. Thanks
I'll keep that in mind, thank you! For now, I'm having an overall positive experience learning to do it on my own, and I enjoying getting to add new skills to what I know.
I haven't watched but I know its gonna be a banger
Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
This is one of my favorite games by my favorite studio and I’m so psyched for its sequel. I too got so invested in reunited Achilles with Patroclus, Nyx with Chaos, and Orpheus with Euridyce
Bro you deserve soo much. You are a really talented guy. Your Castlevania video was eye opening, your Night City video was somehow nostalgic, this video is just genius and now I'm going to watch the other, probably evenly great ones. Please entertain us for as long as possible. I'm thankful that UA-cam recommended the Night City video to me.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching the whole catalogue haha
The transition into painful way to talk about hades with the title drop was amazing
I need more essays! These are awesome man
Great essay!
Another great video! This channel will definitely take off if you keep this quality up!
I really appreciate the continued support, thank you so much!
I just found your channel and started binging your videos and I just want to say oh my god this one is so beautiful
I know a woman who will get a real kick from this. Great video, as always. May I recommend Everspace? If you want a rogue like space shooter that lets you discover more about your past as you play it, a good candidate is there. Good enough for a sequel, what's more.
You were one of my first comments on the Cyberpunk video! I'm so happy to see you around for the new video, thank you so much! I hope your friend enjoys the video, I'll take a peak at Everspace!
I've never had any interest in this game til now. Thanks, I think I'll pick it up.
Can't wait for the Hades 2 essay!
Hey man, it's a great video but I'm surprised you didn't mention weapon aspects? They are one of the most important parts of the game. Every weapon has 4 aspects and each have their own unique mechanics, like having 24 weapons instead of 6. And you also upgrade them.
Mhm, so weapon aspects definitely fell into that category of the 'way more stuff I didn't talk about'. The truth is I tried to find a balance in this video to talk about both the mechanical growth and the personal growth that this game uses, and the script was already getting fairly large compared to what I felt I could bring together in a video, so some stuff just didn't make it in on both sides.
I adore this video so much. Thank you!
will you cover more SGG games? i loved transistor so much, it's short but it's still so great
Transistor is definitely on the line-up. I actually played it for around an hour a year or two ago, and just didn't quite get it, but after playing Hades for this long I think I better understand the mechanics that Transistor is using.
Where do I know your voice from? 11:45 that "Oh my god." I've heard it somewhere else but can't quite put my finger on it...
18:40
Great video prob wont get as many views as the cyberpunk one cuz cp77 is blowing up still
>played lots of hades
>think I’ve seen it all
>watch video
>get stuff spoiled
>my own damn fault
He did warn me
acTuALy, the game is named after Hades the place, not Hades the god
Game is gorgeous, but saying that isn’t anything new.
Keeping in mind how much difference there could be in the stories of each of the Greek Gods by region alone let alone era, they did a great job incorporating some of those twists.
A controversial opinion: video-games are supposed to be fun. Somewhat of a challenge to our skills as gamers, sure. But this is yet another in an unfortunately increasing list of games that are too hard to be enjoyable.
That's a bummer to hear; I felt that Hades had really good growth and felt satisfying to get further in. I'm sorry to hear that wasn't your experience. Sometimes games just aren't for us; personally, I cannot stand Valheim, despite the general gamer seeming to love it.
Regardless, thanks for watching my video, even if you didn't care for the game!
If you farm darkness and just talk to everybody you reach the point you easily reach Elysium.
It is not an easy game, but you can be overpowered with a good darkness build and if Lady Fortune is with you you can easily beat the game.
Once I have a God combo with the self-healer blade, Athena's legendary shield, life regen in last life and Demeter's slowing effect for attack with buffed attack speed + damage resistances. I only lost 1 life in the run.
I wouldn't consider myself a hard-core gamer but eventually runs get easier the more you fail and after 50 hours of failing runs I finally beat hades and it was very fun. I get that kind of fail to win thing isn't for everyone but the game isn't really hard. Just repetitive. Besides if you could reasonably beat hades on your first run the game would only be an hour long lol.
Hey, you probably don't care anymore, but Hades has a 'god mode' option. Turn it on in the settings menu and you can have your fun power fantasy (because most good runs are ultimately just that) with _far_ less trouble.
@@TehCakeIzALie1 you might have just saved this game for me!
